Changing settings from automatic to manual sync

I've just started using my ipod nano and originally set it up to sync automatically with itunes. However, I've now downloaded a lot of things that are used for slide shows, etc. that I don't necessarily want loaded onto the ipod. How can I now change the setting to manual? I read the directions but was stumped from the very beginning when I was told to go to the "source list" and choose ipod nano. Did not know what the source list was and could find the words "ipod nano" no where. Any suggestions?

The source list is the long pane on the left hand side of iTunes where you see the icons for Music, Movies, playlists etc. When you connect your iPod it should appear in this pane under a heading named "Devices". Devices only appears when you have your iPod connected. When it shows, click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main section on the right. In the iPod Summary tab (which is the first tab) to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. In this mode you just drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
Managing content manually on iPod
iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Note: When changing from automatic to manual, check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. "Don't" uncheck Sync Music in the Music tab, it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting, if you uncheck it without setting the iPod to manual first you'll erase all the songs from your iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod

Binu - are you wanting to automate this process with TES?
There is a windows cmd command "net stop" and "net start" you can use to stop and start a service.
You will need to work with your windows admin or look online for a command line way to change the service to manual and to start the defrag.
There is a shutdown command that can be run from cmd. It has a switch to force the reboot.
You might also check out scripting with WMI.

  • How do i switch from automatic to manual download of songs to my iPad from my iTunes library

how do i switch from automatic to manual download of my songs to my ipad in my itunes library

You can still manually add songs to the iPad even if the option is not set. Just drag them to iPad same way as when the option is set.
Select the iPad, click the Summary tab and tick Manually manage music and videos.

  • How do I change sync from automatic to manual

Where do I go in itunes to remove the automatic sync process (whenever I connect my iphone) and do a manual sync?  I dumped contacts from old Palm system & the contacts in Google are showing duplicates between 4 to 8 times for each contact.

Same thing happened to me. I ended up deleting all contacts again and overwriting them with the desktop version. No matter how many times I marked manual syncing, every time I reconnect the iphone it does an unwanted automatic sync. In fact it completely messed and mixed up all entries in my categories. Luckily I didn't trust syncing in the first place (been a burnt child by apple syncing) and had exported the contacts before I did the first sync. Every other simple sync utility also lets you decide to sync just one way, not so apple. I have given up on syncing altogether, this is only the tip of the iceberg of all the problems I have run into, trying to sync anything with iTunes. The upcoming cloud syncing capability may change that, hopefully for the better (but I am not holding my breath). Apple finally caught on to the fact that their customers refused to pay for a service (mobileme) that could be had for free anywhere else! My conclusion: Beneath the shiny exterior, and all the hollywood show like announcements of their CEO lies a rat infested engine. You better don't open the hood, otherwise you'll see the rats gnawing away on the electric system, bringing it down. Shame on you apple! Oh, i have  been on a Mac since 1993, and seen this company go through very unwelcome changes especially lately. IMHO their developers should be feathered and tarred and driven out of town for wasting their customer's prescious time and throwing sand in our eyes!

  • When I change from automatic to manual ethernet from 100baseTX to 1000baseT I lose internet connection

My iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) connection is automatically set at 100BaseTX.  I changed to manual (from automatic)  and selected 1000baseT setting in hardware settings.  Lost internet connection when I did so. Is it possible to do this?

You can't magically change a slower connection into a faster one. That has to been done at the switch or the router.

  • How do i change over from automatically adding songs to manually adding

Using 2 ipods on the computer and don't want all of the other person's songs. How can i change from automatically adding songs to manually managing the songs that go on to the ipod. If i plug it in, i'm afraid that i will mess up all my current songs on there. Please help.

Here are the instructions as they are written in the IPod PDF manual:
In iTunes, select iPod nano in the source list and click the Summary tab.
2 In the Options section, select “Manually manage music and video.”
    3 Click Apply.
Note: When you manage songs and video yourself, you must always eject iPod nano
from iTunes before you disconnect it.
To add a song, video, or other item to iPod nano:
1 Click Music or another Library item in the iTunes source list.
2 Drag a song or other item to the iPod nano icon in the source list
    Hope this helps you.

  • Change settings from windows service pack2

    ''duplicate - locking - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/889659''
i changed settings to run with windows service pack 2
now want to change back to windows 7 how?

Restore your iPod in iTunes for Mac. Just be aware that restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Mac version and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • One axis of wave chart cannot change away from automatic formatting

Refer attached vi and picture. I can change the other two y axis to floating point, but I cannot change the "acceleration x,y,z" from automatic formating to floating point; whenever I click floating point, the highlight returns back to automatic formating.
Now why is that, some setting wrong some where?

    Hello Sunflower2772,
I've opened your VI in both LabVIEW 8.6 and LabVIEW 2009, and could see the same behaviour in both versions.
After that, I tried a few things:
    - I deleted all other scales except for the "acceleration x, y, z", but it was still the same.
    - I duplicated the "acceleration x,y,z" scale, so now there are two scales - "acceleration x,y,z" and "acceleration x,y,z 2". I shifted all but 1 of the plots to use "acceleration x,y,z 2". The result was still the same.
It is really a strange behaviour, it looks to me like it could be a bug. Do you have the exact steps to replicate this problem?
Anyway, I managed to get a workaround. Using one of the normal scales "Heave, roll, pitch", I duplicated that scale by right-clicking on "Heave, roll, pitch" axis, and select "Duplicate Scale". This duplicated scale can be assigned to the individual plots again, and the display format will not be "fixed" to the automatic formatting option.
Please try it out and let me know how it goes.
    Best regards,
    Victor

  • Cannot change settings from AAC to MP3 encoder although able to do so on another computer

I am frustrated as I am able to change my settings on ITunes 10 on my desktop computer, but when I downloaded ITunes10 on my notebook, I was not able to change the same settings from AAC to MP3 encoder although I clicked ok. It keeps reverting to AAC, and I am not able to rightclick my music file, as I can do on my desktop, to create a smaller mp3....
I also noticed that other checkmarks, i.e. checking "podcast" under general preferences under source revert back to unchecked when I get out.
    What to do?
    Thanks so much,
    Anita

  • How can I switch from Automatic to Manual update without losing songs?

I have on my ipod songs from another computer, however I'm afraid to plug it into my computer because my computer is set to automatic update for my ipod. Is there a way for me to switch my ipod to manual update without losing songs on my ipod when plugging it in? thanks.

    Here is what you do:
    Open iTunes.
    Plug in your ipod.
hold control and shift at the same time. this stops your ipod from updating automatically. Hold this until your ipod is finished docking.
    Then go to edit>preferences>ipod
then change the setting from update automatically to update manually.

  • Bookmarks don't work at all. Old bookmarks lost, can't save new ones or restore from automatic or manual backup

Tonight when I went to bring up Firefox, it automatically updated the software. When the browser came up, my bookmarks were all gone. I tried restoring from backup (I get the error message "Unable to process the backup file.", importing from a manually exported HTML file (nothing happens), and saving new bookmarks (when I click Bookmarks again, the newly saved bookmark isn't there). • UNDOTBS from Automatic to Manual

    Hi,
I have a UNDOTBS ( DB version 9i) in automatic,
1-how can I change it to prevent extending automatically ?
2-How can I delete and create a new one which would not be automatic ?
    Many thanks.

If the AUTOEXTENSIBLE of the data files is set to YES
and there is no MAXSIZE defined for for files under UNDO tablespace, then yes.. the tablespace will grow to fill up the disk (may crash the system when it reaches per file size limit imposed by your operating system).
    But...
If your application is generating so much of UNDO, then you need to check your application for the possible reasons.
Automatic Management of UNDO has nothing to do with the file sizes. File sizes need to be controlled manually.

  • TS4337 How do I stop iCal from automatically converting manually entered times into entries on my hourly calendar?

I use the monthly calendar view in iCal.
I enter an event as such: "lunch with mom @ 3" so I can just look at my monthly calendar at a glance and see what time things are.
In the latest update, it now automatically strips that entry of "@ 3" and converts it to the hourly calendar, which I never use or want to look at, adding a layer of clicking between me and the info I need.
Is there a way to turn that off? Or do I just need to find a new calendar app to use and/or never update any Apple software again for fear of them changing the features I use?

Try lunch with mom at 3 instead
I tried and the text was not stripped and the event was entered at the correct time
