Changing sim cards without losing music and video on iphone

I have an iphone 3gs, with an Australian account. I have gone on a trip to London and have obtained a payg sim card here. Before I left I unlocked my iphone with my provider and am looking to use the UK sim card. My concern is that if I change sim cards I need to restore my iphone. Does this mean that I lose my music, video and podcast files? All the originals are on my pc at home in Australia. Is there a way that I can change sim cards without losing my media files in the iphone?
thanks

I too have an account with 3 Australia (now known as VHA) and am using it in Malaysia during my holidays here. Anyways to your question:
No if done properly you don't even need to restore your iPhone. If your phone is already unlocked just chuck in the new SIM card and that's it.

  • I want to transfer my music and videos in iphone from my laptop? what i have to do?

i want to transfer my music and videos in iphone from my laptop? what i have to do?

You would to transfer them from where to where?
    Your post is unclear.
You can sync from computer to iphone.  Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync.

  • Unable to manually manage music and videos on iPhone 4 without erase and sync, same computer!

Ok, so I know you all have heard this before but I do believe my case is rather unique, and quite frustrating.
I purchased an iPhone 4 and synced it to the same computer I am using now - created the playlist and used it to sync with phone. Worked great for awhile; but one day I contracted some nasty malware and had to wipe my computer and reinstall my OS (Windows 7). Albeit my music library was on my external HDD which survived the onslaught. I obviously had to reinstall iTunes afterwards. The playlist was gone on reinstall.
Afterwards I still didn't see an issue with my iPhone and iTunes: When I plug it in it syncs, everything seems to be working accordingly.
But I recently transferred some new music from a CD to my iTunes and wanted to throw those songs on my iPhone, the drag and drop method I was so very used to did not work and I noticed that "manually manage music and videos" was uncheck under my devices summary.
When I attempt to check this option in iTunes it gives me a popup notification telling me I need to erase and sync in order to use this option because my 'iPhone is synced with another library". Again, I DID have to reinstall iTunes after reinstalling my OS.
I have tried all the tricks that google could supply me with with no avail; authorizing, stopping the sync from automatically starting.... yada yada - none of these cookie cutter methods have worked for me.
    Here's a too long didn't read:
    >iPhone 4 was working fine - used playlist to sync with.
    >Had to reinstall OS (Windows 7) Playlist gone.
    >Reinstall iTunes.
    >iPhone still syncs with library, no error messages on connect.
    >Unable to manually manage music and videos without erase and sync.
    >None of the usual methods work.

Hmm, I will say after posting this and looking at the related threads it seems I can only either use manually manage or sync.
I was using sync before but since the playlist disappeared I was syncing with I simply want to add music to my phone without deleting everything. Is this possible?
If I use "manually manage music and videos" will it delete everything or just the music and videos? It doesn't specify...
Could I just create a new playlist and sync it with that? If so how?
The bottom line is it isn't that big of a deal if I need to simply rebuild my iPhone music library but losing my configuration, contacts etc is not an option. Optimally I would just like to be able to add my new music to my iPhone without having to rebuild my library.

  • How to back up music and video from  iphone to laptop.

I have a problem about my boss's iphone.
His iphone is 3G apple.he want to move music and video from his iphone to his laptop. His laptop use Window xp professional Sp 2 and has itue 8.He want to back up
music and video in his laptop because the musics and videos already had in his iphone is from his friend pc.pls some instruction to me.
    Any advise would be appreciated.

Transfering music to your pc is only possible if you bought the music via iTunes. Then you can tranfer your purchases back to your computer.
Or you have to look for 3rd party software to transfer music you didn't buy in itunes to your pc. Search in google for "iphone music backup" or see this link:

  • Can i change my existing sim card on my iphone 4 with a completely new sim card, without losing information, icloud info etc?

Getting a completely new sim card but same network this week. I have an iPhone 4. Once i receive the new sim card, will my photos, music, contacts etc still be there with the new sim card in the iphoine? Will my icloud be the same etc? How would i transfer it over if i have to? or will nothing change ? thanks

Yes, you can change your sim card and not lose pictures, etc.  The only thing the sim card holds is carrier settings.  That said, just to make sure you are completely safe, backup your phone before you replace the sim.  If anything goes wrong (it shouldn't), you'll have everything in your backup.

    help

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

  • Manually manage music and videos of iPhone 4s using pc

My computer crashed and clean reinstalled the operating system on my PC, I had to reauthorize the computer.
Now I installed iTunes and when I check Manually manage music & videos, it tells me:
that it's synced with other another iTunes library.
The Only option is erase and sync or Cancel
I had the computer backed up so that the good news, so I tried coping the files from the back up and putting it in my PC but did't work.
I went into preferences and under advanced changed the iTunes Media folder location to the hard hard drive that has my back up.
Thinking that would do it, it didn't work?
    Please help!
    Any suggestions

From your pc back up find the iTunes library and copy the entire library to your new computer.
Copy over your photos too plus any other important documents.
Once your iTunes library is on your new computer your should be able to start iTunes and sync to the new computer. Yes you will get the message that this is a new computer but the music etc. is the same as what was on the old computer.

  • How do I move music and videos from Iphone to Icloud?

Trying to move my music on my Iphone to Icloud and it doesnt seem to be moving...what do I do?

Music is not stored in the iCloud. Past purchases can be reloaded from the cloud, and iTunes Match provides this function to non-purchased music.

  • Enable disk use and Manually manage music and videos

When I go to Summary, Enable disk use is checked but dim, so I can't change it. Manually manage music and videos is checked and not dim. Is this enough to do so that I can manage the videos I have shot on my Nano from iTunes, or do I have to do it from iPhoto?

    Hello JohnKerr48,
I can manage the videos I have shot on my Nano from iTunes, or do I have to do it from iPhoto?
You have to manage them via a Finder window, through iMovie, or iPhoto. They cannot be managed via iTunes unless you copy them from your Nano onto your Mac and then import them into your iTunes library. For more information, see this Apple support document.

  • I want to use my IPOD Classic 160gb for notepad entries in addition to the music and books I listen to. It is set to "Open ITunes when connected to computer" and "manually manage music and videos". How can I do that without losing some of the features

I want to use my IPOD Classic 160gb for notepad entries in addition to the music and books I listen to. It is set to "Open ITunes when connected to computer" and "manually manage music and videos".  How can I do that without losing some of the features of those two?   I just want to add a feature.  Thanks

Settings>Store (or iTunes & App Stores if you are running iOS6)>Apple ID. Tap your son's ID and sign out. Sign in with your ID and password.
You shouldn't lose the music, but if you try to update any apps that you bought with the family ID, you will have to use that password that is linked with that ID in order to update.
Avoid downloading past purchased content with the old ID if you can since you will associate the iPad with the old ID for 90 days and you will lock yourself out of your own, new ID for that period of time. Read more about associated devices in iTunes here.

computers without music and video pictures etc .... without losing information on my iphone ..... help

This can be done without having to sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application via the iTunes sync process on each computer.
This can be done over the air with a free iCloud account.

  • Adding music to my ipod without my itunes and without losing music

I want to add music to my ipod, but am travelling, away from my own computer with my itunes library. Can I still add music on someone else's computer without losing the music I currently have on my ipod?

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
