Changing size of icons in sub folders

I know how to change the size of the icons in one folder or of all icons. How can I change all of the icons in my 'Pictures' directory and not all of the other directories?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Actually, you can't mess up folders that already have an individual preference set. When you inadvertantly leave the All Folders button checked and set up something, it does NOT apply to folders that already have custom settings, but only to new folders or folders you have never opened. Just open a folder you want smaller icons in, then change the icon size to what you want, leaving the default All Folders. Any folder you already set individually to 128x128 will retain its individual setting, but any folder you have not already set, nor already opened with some other setting in place, and all new folders, will have your new setting.

  • When I change size of icons or icon vs list display, why does it affect the whole computer?

When I change size of icons, or icon vs list display, why does it affect the whole computer? In some folders I want to see a list and others I want to see an icon and I don't need a large icon in all folders. I used to be able to set each folder separately in the old OS. How do I fix this?

I can hilight an item, go to the finder/file/getinfo but there is no box next to icon view.
I can go to view/options and adjust the icon size etc, but this applies to every folder in the whole computer. I need varied options in different folders, i.e., I want to view images as icons and text as text. I have to change it every time I open a folder. I used to be able to set it per folder in the old OS.

  • All sub-folders in Mac Mail cannot synchronize with Exchange Server 2010

    Hi all,
All sub-folders under Inbox in Mac Mail cannot be synchronized with Exchange Server 2010. There are 2GB messages size in Inbox folder and 500MB messages size under Inbox's sub-folders. All messages can be sent out and received and it can work in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 normally. However, all messages in sub-folders cannot be synchronized (empty sub-folders).
Does this problem relate to message synchronization order of Mac Mail with Exchange Server? Do all sub-folders messages be synchronized after synchronization complete of Inbox? The synchronization of sub-folders will not happen if the synchronization of Inbox does not complete, doesn't it?
All messages synchronization is over internet. Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
1.please check the mailbox send and receive quota for exchange 2013 migrated mailbox.
2.Please check the email attributes of the exchange 2013 migrated mailbox because it seems to be a problem with that particular mailbox.
3.Then do the message tracking and that would be the only way to find the where the send messages has gone.
4.Please check and confirm you have an enough space on the disk where exchange queue database is residing.
I think I need to create a receive connector in the 2013 to receive from 2010 ?
No need ,by design  exchange 2013 cas server default frontend receive connector will be having an
entire ipv4 and ipv6 segment and anonymous connection is checked by default.
I think I also need to create a send and receive connector for 2013 users to each other?
No need , an intra organisation send connector and the default receive connectors in exchange will be used
for internal mail flow between the exchange 2013 users.
Please reply me if you have any queries .

  • Mail icon not updating to reflect number of unread email in sub-folders

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the default mail program on the iPhone, OS3.0.
If you have sub-folders on an exchange server and set for them to be pushed under the "Mail folders to push" setting, email appears on the phone and it even give you your chosen email alert sound. However the number of unread emails is not reflected on the icon of the mail program.
Is there a fix for this?
    Cheers

As neuroanatonist wrote, I think this is linked to Apple Mail (whether iPhone or desktop) focusing only on the inbox(es) for tallying up the number of unread mail, and notifying the user accordingly.
There is an open thread dealing with the root cause of the issue brks raised:

  • Changing size of tool bars & icons in Photoshop Elements 10

Was using Photoshop Elements 10 on my windows vista with no problems. Just got a new computer with Windows 7 and moved Elements 10 with no installation error messages.
Just tried to edit some pictures and all the tool bars and icons are so tiny - extremely hard to read. Tried adjusting the text size to 150% in control panel but it did not change anything in Elements.
Is there a setting that can be readjusted - do I need to uninstall and reinstall with some setting tweaks??
    Please help!!!!

You need to use the default, 100% screen font size in Windows to prevent problems like tool cursors and menu bars not displaying correctly.
There's no way to adjust PSE's font size or icon size.

  • Macbook Pros display blinks to blue, icons change size, resolution changes and cant reset. Anyone else have this and have a definitive idea of the cause? End up running diagnostics and resetting PRAM and SMC to resolve but why? Thanks.

We have had several (7-10 recently) macbook Pros start this issue. The screen will jump from regular to blue, the background image will go away and it will be replaced with a blue screen, the icons change size and the screen resolution changes. Someimtes the users name field on the login screen will fly in from off screen... run diagnostics (AppleJack, Disk Util) and reset PRAM and SMC and sometimes this helps but wanted to know if there was a definite reason for this or a better resolution to the problem?
    Thanks all
Macbook Pros are all newer (some only a month old) Unibody models running Snow Leopard and Lion

AppleJack has been discontinued, so you should uninstall that.
I'm suspecting something in software across all machine or a security breach as the primary cause of your problems.

Intermittently, when I move the cursor with my trackpad, the desktop icons change size—minimize going from 44 to 16 icon size. This happens with the Finder in the foreground or background.

  • Trying to work on TIFF  images currently in my HD in several sub-folders without changing the originals or their location. I have a Mac and am using LR 3

I have many TIFF images on my HD within a folder and sub-dividedinto 30 sub-folders.
I wish to select several images from a variety o f the sub-folders then edit them and place them in a new working folder that can be transferred forprinting. I want to retain copies of the edited images and the orginals in their location in my Pictures.
So I'm looking for a step sequence that will assuresafety ofmy originals and giveme newly edited verisons toprint.
I originally odwnload theseimagesfrom a flash drive  andit took 9 hours.
What timeframe can I expect to move the images into LR from my HD???
I assume I will retain the same folder/sub-folder organization --is that true??
How do I transfer the edited images --probably between 10-20 of them to start with--to a newly labeled folder  that can then bemovedto either aflash drive , extrenal HD or one or more DVDs to take them to a print lab?? What's the best way to do this??
I've looked at the basic LR tutorial but it leaves out  may steps that I require.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated
    Marty

Thank you Jim . I suspect you're right --that i'm over thinking this. But i just don't see the step-wise path to follow to get from here to print ready group of selected photos
So you're saying just import them into LR  and I can access any or all of them there ??.
Will the import take hours  or minutes ( recall that I have over 500 TIFF images   distributed across 30 sub-folders)???
Edits i do there will be saved but my originals will also remain ??
Do I simply select one image at a time to develop and save until I have the 10 or more I want for the moment  then put those edited images into a new collection??????
    OR
Do I select and move the ones I want to edit and put them into a collection,  then edit them image by image and finally transfer ( e.g. via flash drive or external drive etc) to get them printed???

  • Disk Allocation.  Any Way to Change the Way iPhoto saves the folders????

Ok so whats the deal with iPhoto. I thought about useing it to view all of my picture cause it seems like a pretty nice program. But the way it stores to photo makes them inpossible to find. I think it stores it by date. Which is no good at all. Right now I am switch over computers. So how does iPhoto work with the Ipod. Cause on my other computer I named all my files and now is it just going to be by date if I use iPhoto.
    Thankss

    Hi Brent,
Are you switching from a Windows to Mac?
    Ok, the Deal with iPhoto.
All images imported into iPhoto are copied into iPhoto's database, which is the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. Do not touch this folder.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
This is the heads up on the iPhoto Library structure:
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.
This is the heads up on iPhoto with the iPod:
When you hook up the iPod and iTunes opens, go to the iPod prefs by clicking on the iPod icon on the bottom right of the window.
You can have your iPod sync with an Album in your iPhoto Library. Within iPhoto, make a new Album, and drag all the images you want on your iPod into that Album.
In the iPod preferences, you can also choose to have it sync with a folder on your hard drive instead of an album within iPhoto. If that is what you want to do, then navigate and choose that folder of images.
The heads up on importing images into iPhoto that you already have in your own directory structure:
Importing Images from the hard drive, CD, or DVD
To import a folder with subfolders of images maintaining the same organizational structure (or close to it):
Drag the folder into iPhotos viewing area.
A film roll will be created with each sub folders name. To view the rolls in the Library you need to first go to the menu bar and choose View>by film rolls.
To make each roll into an Album, highlight the tile of the roll
Go to File>new album from selection.
You will now have an Album in the source column with the images from that roll. Do this for each roll if you want them to be an Album. This is your choice.
Next, go to the menu bar and hit File>new folder
Name this new folder with the year or whatever the name was of the Parent folder containing the subfolders that you had dragged into iPhotos viewing area.
Next drag all the Albums into the respective new Parent folder you just made.
Albums- collection of images from one roll or many rolls. The Albums will be listed in your source column when you make them. The albums only contain placeholders for the images that are still in the library. They are not duplicates.
Rolls- rolls are created when you import folder of images. It will be given the name of the folder you are importing.
Rolls are also created from each import from your camera. You are given the option to name the roll at import.
Folder-a folder you create manually using the File>new folder command
Folders can hold Albums, slideshows, books, another folder, etc.
One other way you can import a folder of images and have an Album created for it as the same time it is imported as a roll in the Library view:
Drag each folder of images into the source column of iPhoto. When you see the plus sign, drop it in the source column.
An album will be created in the source column, and the roll that the album was created from will be in the library view window.
    More heads up Info!
--First thing to know and remember is this...Do not drag any images, folder of images into the iPhoto Library in the Finder. Images have to be imported into iPhoto within the application. Do not scan images and save them into the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. Save them to another location such as the Pictures folder or even the desktop. You can then import them into iPhoto.
If you have already put files/folders in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder then you will also find out that if you try to import them into iPhoto you will get an error message. No worry, just drag them to the desktop and import from there.
--All images that you import are shown in the library view. You can choose how you want to view, by rolls, by date, by rating, etc. When you put images in an Album, slideshow, book, etc, you are actually just putting pointers to those images in the library. You are not adding more images. If you delete an image from the Album it will still be in the library. If you delete an image from the library it is deleted from iPhoto's database and your hard drive (unless you have it backed up somewhere else)
--You have a folder of images on your hard drive and want to import them into iPhoto. Drag the folder of images into an open iPhoto Library window and the folder of photos will be copied into the library, resulting in a new roll with the name of the folder. You now have two copies of those photos, the ones in iPhoto's database and the ones on your desktop. You can keep the ones on your desktop that you just imported as backup or you can delete that folder.
-- you scan a picture/pictures and save it in a folder. You cannot scan directly into iPhoto or the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder.
You want all your photos in iPhoto so you import them into iPhoto.
Now you have two copies of that picture/pictures, so you can delete the originals that were in the scanned folder and keep the one/ones that were imported into iPhoto.
-- You download pictures from your camera into iPhoto.
There is now one copy of each of the pictures. (DO NOT HAVE IPHOTO DELETE THE IMAGES FROM YOUR CAMERA! DELETE THEM MANUALLY WITH THE CAMERA-if something goes wrong with the import and they are never imported and then they are deleted from the camera you might end up losing those images)
You want to change something about a picture you imported, such as
cropping it or changing the size, or changing the orientation.
Once you do that to a picture, you now have two copies of the picture
in iPhoto, the original and the edited one. The edited one will be in the library organize view. The original is packed away in an Original folder in your iPhoto Library folder under the date of the roll. You can always revert to the original by control clicking on the photo and choose "revert to orginal" You will not have this choice if you used iPhoto Diet to get rid of the Originals.
(a quick note on cropping within iPhoto...when you are in edit mode, you automatically will be in the crop mode with cross hairs to highlight the crop area. To finish cropping you must click the crop button and then go back to library view and your cropped picture will be there.
3.You want to use Photoshop or another graphic program to edit a picture in your iPhoto library.
You can open up prefs for iPhoto and choose "when double clicking on
photo ..do" choose "other" and select Photoshop. Now you can edit all
pictures in your iPhoto library in PhotoShop by double clicking. If you save the photo with the same name and as a flattened file it will be saved right into iPhoto and you will see the changes. If you don't want to save it into iPhoto then do a "save as" and save to the desktop. You will then have the original photo still in iPhoto and your new edited photo on the desktop.
Or, with iPhoto open, you can drag a picture from the library window
to your desktop (you see a + sign on the pic you are dragging). You now
have two of the same picture, one in the iPhoto library and one on your desktop. You can open up the one on your desktop in any graphic program and work on it. The one in iPhoto stays the same. You can also share/export the picture/pictures to your desktop or folder to work on them or do batch processing, etc. You will still have the originals in your iPhoto Library.
Or, you can open up the ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/folders and option drag any
picture out of the folder to your desktop. Notice that you will see a plus sign while dragging the photo. This is copying the file to your desktop
I would advise anyone not to do this as they might forget to use the option key and drag the photo out. Next time you open iPhoto the photo will be missing.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
Don't forget that in Library view you can Control click on any picture and get a contextual menu with many options. One is to revert to original.

  • Finder View Options, For All Sub Folders

If I understand how View Options work in Finder windows ...
I can set View Options for a particular folder to always open up in a particular View Options setting.
I can set that very same View Option as the Default View Option for all the rest of the folders I open up.
But, what I would like to do is set the View Options for a folder and all it's sub folders to be the same. Without changing the default View Option for the rest of the folder I open up.
    For example.
I like to have my Documents open up in List View.
I like to have my Photos open up in Icon View. (along with certain Icon View Option settings)
Is there a way to do this?
Can I set the directory and all sub folders/directories for all my photos to open up the way I would like them? Without having to change the way all my Document folders/directories open up?
Because the way it seems to work now, is that every time I create a new folder in my Photos directory/folder, I have to manually set the View Options, since the default is List View and not Icon view. If I change the default to Icon View, then any new folder/directory in my Documents will then open up in Icon View.

If the folder is not set to open in a specific view, it should open in the same view as the containing folder. When using mixed views, you need to open the folder in another window to get the view it previously had.
In your example, setting Documents to always open in list view and Photos to always open in Icon view should have any new sub folders open in the same view. If any existing sub folders have a different view, you will need to manually change the view, since the Finder will (usually) keep track of the view any particular folder has.

  • Help I can't see the icons inside my folders

I upgraded yesterday to 7.0 and now I can't no longer see the apps inside the folders. I have tried all the features in the settings and still no go. Putting text to biggest size helped a bit but I still can't not enlarge the icons inside the folders or change the background scrappy clear color to help see the tiny icons.this is the first time ever that I had to complaint to apple. I hate complaining but the only choice I have left is to take all my apps from inside the folder icons and that will make me have about 15 or 20 desktop pages with icons? That will be too many pages.  I am desperate here... Please help me. Thanks.

Nvm. Omg I can't believe the picture I had selected as my background picture made also my background color change according to the picture I select from my camera roll in my background inside my folders...So that was causing the problem all along. I changed my background picture for a darker one and I was finally able to see my icons. Before they were like turning invincible color or faded tru the color added by the picture I selected as background picture for my entire desktop... Why can't Apple say these things to us? Now the problem is solved I can see my icons now... Never again I an selecting a picture that makes the icons faded w the color or blend w the background color and turn them like see tru.. Thanks for the reply,, have a nice day...my problem is now solved..

  • Smart Folders: Possible to exclude specific sub-folders?

I want to create a smart folder that shows all documents opened in the past two weeks within my user folder, but I want to exclude my browser cache and various Library files.
Is there a way to exclude certain sub-folders from a smart search? I'd like to figure this out because it would be really useful to me in other ways too.
    Thanks.

Unless you have done a little hack you should not see any files from your ~/Library folder in a search, unless you explicitly tell Spotlight to display system files. Browser files are included if you start your search from the Spotlight icon. But if you start with a search window by invoking it with Command-F that won't happen. There is no way I know of to exclude sub-folders in a search. Try this and see if it returns what you want:
    1. Open your home folder
    2. Hit Command-F
    3. Select your home folder rather than the idiotic default of This Mac in the search toolbar
    4. Underneath that you should see Kind:is:Any--click the double arrows and change Any to Documents
    5. Click the + button
    6. Select "Last opened date" from the drop down menu, then "with last" and fill in 2, then select "weeks" from the final drop down menu
Be aware that the definition of "Documents" is pretty much everything, from Word docs to html files, to jpegs, tiffs, text files, pdfs, and so on.

  • I have mac version 10.10.1 yosemite.Using LR3. I exported 7 sub folders from LR to an external hard drive in order to free up space on my mac hd.

    encountered two problems:
    1. instead of seeing the 7 sub folders in the external drive, all the images are out of order, entirely scrambled. when I open LR3 however, the contents of these folders are greyed out and show 0 images. I can see the question mark next to the image saying it is located elsewhere (i.e. on the external hd)If I plug in the external hd I can open the images and edit in CS5, but as I said it 's like finding a needle in the haystack.
    2. no new space shows up on my mac hd even though that was the reason I made the export.
is there a way to fix this? I have a different external hd that backs up LR. Currently it is not plugged in. I am afraid to plug it in because it will take the new LR configuration and I'd lose any  option to correct the problem. I also , on the same (different) hd I have Time Machine backup. would that help to fix the problem and bring back the organization I previously had with the 7 subfolders. All that organization is currently lost,i.e. show as greyed out 0 content in LR on my mac hd and shows as scrambled on the external hd.
    Can I fix this??

zarowin, you want to move the files. Not export them! See here: Move folders around in Lightroom | Adobe Photoshop Lightroom tutorials. There are two ways to do that. One is to move the folders inside Lightroom to your external HD, the other is to move them in the finder and reconnect the folders afterwards using the tips in the link dj linked to above. Also, you really should upgrade your Lightroom. LR 3 is not fully Yosemite compatible. I think the problems are mostly cosmetic though.
Periodically I get a prompt in lr asking if I want to back up lr and I have been consistent about doing so. At this point however, since those out of order images have be “exported”  (am I using the right word??) to the second external hd, into a folder without subfolders, (hence the scrambling effect), if I were to plug in the external hd that is my backup drive (for time machine as well as for lr), won’t it be backing up the mistake I made by not using subfolders ongto the other external drive, thereby compounding the problem?
This warning has nothing to do with Time Machine. It is Lightroom's own backup. Every week or so, it will generate a backup Library that you can revert to in the case of trouble. In fact,  you can usually safely delete the very old ones but keep them from the last month or so. Look for them in a folder called "Backups" right next to your main catalog file (probably in your Pictures folder). Be sure to only throw away the oldest backups. If you have never done this and have a large catalog with 10's of thousands of images you probably have easily 100 GB of these backups. Just calculate how much space you are wasting if you started doing this around LR 3, several years of backup catalogs at a frequency of once a week, and a typical catalog size of 1.5 GB (my main catalog is over 2GB).
Lastly, Time Machine backup doesn't overwrite older versions. It keeps versions around of all your catalog files (including the backups!).

  • How do you create sub-folders in Mail?

    Hello, thanks for reading.
I have several domains and email accounts relating to different businesses and each account needs various associated archive folders for receipts, licences, customers, sales, newsletters, and so on...
With a sub-folder for each email kept for future reference on each account, this is a total of around 100 folders over 4 email accounts. Mail folders treat emails like songs in iTunes and that just doesn't work. The ideal solution is to have sub-folders within each mailbox.
If sub-folders aren't an option, can anyone suggest a way around this?! I might be able to slim it down to 20 folders but that would make finding an old email a little harder, especially if I don't know the email account it relates to or the sender.
I did all this easily on Outlook Express, which I think is available for Mac, right?

I've got tons of sub-folders in Mail.
I think the key is to understand that a mailbox is represented by a folder icon.
If you select a folder (mailbox), when you choose Mailbox/New Mailbox, the new folder appears inside the folder you highlighted. If not, you can drag it inside another folder as mentioned previously.
