Changing someone else's template

Question

I'm using MX 2004 for a freelance project that someone else
started and my client wants me to finish it. I don't have
experience using templates. What I usually do is create one page
and do a "save as" to create the rest of the pages. However, for
this project, there are templates already made. Instead of
re-creating the whole project, is there a way to modify the
previous templates? There are boxes with aqua-colored outlines and
tabs that have the names of whatever the box is called, like
"middle column." When I place my mouse over them, it gives me the
"no" sign (circle with a slash). Can't I delete some of those
template elements in the code?

Assuming your edits have been made outside of the editable
regions.
To the original poster - make sure you familiarize yourself
with how DW
templates work before tackling this - start with the F1 Help
in DW.
