Changing song names and adding album artwork

Some of the songs that i imported into itunes by some artists, lets say for example "Less Than Jake" shows up as "less than jake" (uncapitalized) when i go to change the first letter which is an "l" to a capital "L" i successfully change the name in itunes and then when i am done changing ti and click on another song it just goes back to lower case
does anyone know how to fix that so that the names that i fix stay fixed not just go back
Another question that i have is some of my artists albums do not have album artwork and when i right click on the album and say get album artwork nothing happens. And i already registered with itunes store so its not that it wont get the album artwork because i didn't register with itunes. Is there anyway to copy the album picture from the internet and get it associated with that specific album in itunes anyway?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Greg,
Are you just typing over the name as it appears in your iTunes library?
I am not familiar with the Windows version, but in the Mac version, the best way to edit song title/artist/genre, etc is to select a song and then "Get Info" - in the Mac version that is under the "File" menu - a right click will probably work for you. There are several tabs on the Get Info screen - go to the "Info" tab and you will see what to do.
As for album artwork, iTunes has been pretty good about finding artwork for for those albums which I purchased from the iTunes store, but was no help at all in finding art for the (many) albums I ripped from my CDs.
You COULD find the album art yourself, using Google 'Images' but I think you will find it to be too tedious, and most of the album cover JPEGs you will find by that method are too small and of poor quality.
It would be better to use a third party application. For Mac users I can recommend Fetch Art (http://members.cox.net/afriesen3//fetchart/index.html); I expect there is something similar for Windows, but I can't be specific.

  • ITunes mixing up song names and the album artworks.

This is hard to explain but I'll do my best. For the record, I have 2 iPods that sync with the same playlist (iPod Touch 2nd Gen 4.2.1 for main music and iPod Nano 5th Gen for excercise). I decided to rip a recently purchased CD today and sync it to my iPod. I opened iTunes like normal and I noticed a bunch of unwanted songs in my playlist I use for my iPods. Upon investigation, I noticed the songs are my normal songs, but iTunes has given them the title and album art of a different song in my library. When I click Get Info the correct song name appears in the title box. When I click ok to get out of that menu, the song returns back to the normal title, artist, and artwork. (An example, a song titled Amarillo Sky by Jason Aldean was really Do I by Luke Bryan. When I left Get Info, the song corrected its info back to Do I) After rebuilding my entire playlist and having to re-locate several songs that were now listed under incorrect titles and artists, I syned my iPod nano and realized that some of the songs under the "Songs" category aren't in alphebetical order like they should be. This really bugs me as I like my songs to be in order. To make matters worse, iTunes insists on changing some of the songs back to the incorrect title after I fixed them (Love in an Elevator by Aerosmith keeps getting turned into Eat the Rich by Aerosmith). Any suggestions to fix this ordeal?

Try signing out of the iTunes store. If that doesn't work try rolling back to an older version of your iTunes database as described in Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

  • Deleting and Adding Album Artwork

I am able to add album artwork from saved files onto iTunes, but if I want to delete an image that iTunes gave the song, which is wrong, it won't let me. The image is still there after I hit delete and then OK.
Also, I added an image that wasn't from an album, and while it's on iTunes, it won't carry over onto my iPod.

I have this issue.  Album artwork was totally fine before.  After this update, it is all messed up and even got messed up when transferred to my iphone.
iTunes doesn't have the artwork anymore, but then iPhone has it but shows wrong artwork with wrong albums.
    Please fix!

  • I added album artwork and now I have doubles of those songs

I added album artwork and now I have doubles of those songs on my ipod.
I have my itunes set up to automatically update. Do I need to delete the versions of the songs without the album artwork from my ipod? How do I do this?

    Yes.

No. However iTunes Match is not a backup service: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup

  • Can anyone explain me why iTunes is just changing song names an messing up the order?

I have different songs that I would like to upload onto the phone iOS 6.1.3
So I copy the songe into a playlist in iTunes.
    Song names are
    whatever_xx-001
    whatever_xx-002
    whatever_xx-020
what does iTunes? It just changes the song names and make a complete mess with the order of the songs:
    whatever xx 1
    whatever xx 20
    whatever xx 2
My question is, if iTunes is not usable for copying numbered songs? I cannot imagine that this tool is so stupid? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you for a hint.

Now I look more carefully at your list, I see what you mean.
iTunes does have a method for Artist sorting if the Sort fields are empty (as most of mine are), but offhand, I don't know much about it to be honest. The glaring issue in the your screenshot is Ministry Of Sound.
If any of the other experienced contributors add to this thread (note the number of points they have) with better advice than I can offer, take it.
In the meantime, start with the Ministry Of Sound and check the Sort Artist field. If you highlight everything by an artist, or a complete album, and select Get Info/Sorting, you see this view:
and if you select just a single song, it's this view:
I assume, unless you tell me otherwise, that the Ministry Of Sound entries will show something in there which is causing iTunes to put them in with the entries for A. Replace it with Ministry Of Sound. If the field is blank (which it will be if there are two different entries in your selection) simply type in Ministry Of Sound. Does that make any difference?
If it does, then check your other entries to see what is causing the issue with them.
You may find the the artist "Joey Bada$$" has been set to sort by Bada$$, Joey.
This screenshot of my Artists column may explain why B.o.B is before Baauer:
If you don't like it that way, change the entry in the Sort Artist field to suit you.

  • Copy and Pasting album artwork

I'm trying to import/paste album artwork from the internet. How do I do that?

Short version: Get the artwork onto your computer. Then open iTunes, select the songs you are adding the artwork to. Do a Get Info on those songs and you will see an artwork box. Drag and drop the artwork from your computer onto that box. OK out of the Get Info screen.

  • Help needed adding album artwork using Windows Vista

My computer is a PC running Windows Vista. I am missing some album artwork - some artwork from CDs I ripped to Windows Media Player and subsequently transferred to ITunes and my IPod Classic (120GB), and some artwork that is either missing from ITunes or incorrect album artwork. When I drag an album image from ITunes to my album artwork window, it won't copy, nor can I do it from Windows Media Player. Yes, I have enabled automatic download of artwork in ITunes, and yes, I have already read the basic adding album artwork article, and I am not able AT ALL to do any kind of drag and drop.
I also noticed that my ITunes songs is missing album artwork that ITunes has a partial album for, but I have the FULL album (which I transferred from WMP)
    Any suggestions?

You can't copy the artwork from the iTunes Store...
You also won't have any joy if you're trying to add artwork to wav files as they don't support tags.
Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. Copy the image from the source, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I to *Get Info* and paste the image into the artwork box.

  • ITunes radio not displaying song titles, artists, or album artwork.

iTunes radio on my iphone 5 doesn't display the song title, artist name, or any album  artwork. It's just blank. Tried signing in and out of iTunes, turning phone on/off to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have this same problem.  I also don't have any of the price info for the track.  This problem is on my iPhone 5s, iPad and iPad mini.
I tested out iTunes Radio on my wife's iPad and it works fine - album art, track names, album info, price and buying info.
The information in the "i" button is also blank on all my devices and not on my wife's iPad.
This is very frustrating because I can never know what the track is that I'm listening to and can't buy it if I like it.

Err this is no longer April 1st you know.
The iPod Shuffle has never had a 'display' on which track names can be shown. See http://www.apple.com/ipod-shuffle/ if you want an iPod which does have a display on which you can see the tracks names and even the album cover art then look instead at the bigger and more expensive iPod Nano http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/ or iPod Touch http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/
PS. The current iPod Shuffle even though it has no display on which it can show the track names can read them out loud to you using a voice-synthesiser this is the VoiceOver feature described on the iPod Shuffle product page I listed above.

  • Is it  possible to change the name of a photo in one album without changing the name in other albums?

I use the photos in events to create more than one album and I want to use a unique name in each album. When I change the name in one album, all instances of the photo also change.

Correct. Albums just reference the photos in an Event - it's why a pic can be in 50 albums and use no extra disk space. So, change one and you change all. The alternative is to duplicate the pic in the Event.

  • Consolidation files problem - iTunes changes song name

I upgraded Library to iTunes Medial Organization. Now, every time when I consolidate a file into iTunes library and click to play the file right away, iTunes will cut off a part of the song name and replace a letter "O" at the end. It happened once to change all the song names in the same playlist, however I unable to pinpoint how did it happen.

Sounds like Windows Media Player is "fixing" the info in the ID3 tags for you.
When you play it in iTunes, it will update the library to match the ID3 tags, which is why it looks like iTunes is doing it.
In WMP, Tools -> Options -> Library.
Uncheck *Automatic media information updates for files*.
Any songs that WMP already messed with, you will need to add the info back.

  • I can't change the names of my albums in Itunes

I recently bought a new computer and went through a very cumbersome process to move my Itunes library to the new computer. Can't even describe all the steps. Now my music is on the new computer and when i go into "get info" so that i can change the name of the album, I am locked out. The title is in gray and i get a message that software can't find my original.
If it matters, almost all of my albums were loaded from CDs and not purchase.
Can anyone help me learn how to change the names?
    Thanks

    OK I am puzzled.
If iTunes can't find a file it is shown with an exclamation mark next to the track.
If iTunes can't write to a track, either because it is read only or because of a permission problem, it is greyed out.
Your seem to have a peculiar combination - no exclamation marks but iTunes claims not to be able to find the track, if I understand your original post correctly.
May be we can cut through this by creating an new library. This will loose all counts rating and play lists, but you can put things back if you want after the experiment.
With iTunes closed, drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml to your desktop.
Open itunes and an empty library is created. Use File>>Add folder to Library to add your iTunes Music folder. Can you edit tracks now?
(To put things back, with iTunes closed simply delete the newly created itl and xml files and drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml back into your iTunes folder from your desktop)
