Changing subtitle stream during playback of Video track

Hi all,
Can someone please help me out with changing the subtitle stream during playback of a video track? The subtitle button doesn't seem to cycle through the 4 languages we have on the track.

when you press the subtitle button, does it restrict you, or does it not go through all 4 subs, or maybe even, does it go through more than your original 4?
do you have a menu, or is it just the video, audio and subs?

Synchronizing streams during playback

Hi does anyone know of a good way to synchronize separate
(video/audio) recorded streams during playback?
For example takea video conferencing app; I can can record
each stream separately but during playback is there anything i can
do force them to be synchronized? From reading around, it seems
like the answer is "No".. Any thoughts?

Two Second Skip Switching Between Windowed and Full Screen Modes During Playback YouTube videos

I am finding that every video I watch skips two seconds every time I switch back and forth from Full Screen mode. Happens mostly with 720p videos in YouTube.
Can be replicated by pausing the video (also possible during playback, pausing it was just to determine how long the skip is), switching to Full Screen and back, noticing the two second change on the timer.
Main operating environment is Opera browser on Windows 7 (x86), Flash ver. 11.1.102.55 and 12beta. I have also been able to replicate the problem on Internet Explorer ver. 9.0.8112.16421

I see about 30-80 MB memory usage increase while switching to fullscreen and it is falling back while switching back to normal mode.
I think the "freeing" of the memory is to agressive and produces such "lags."
@Adobe: This should be optimized with the next versions.
Update:
With the Plash Player plugin (Firefox Nightly/Opera Next) it is worse and with Active-X (IE9) it seems to be ok.

Weird sound during playback of recorded track

hey guys, how are you all doing?
so i got a new pc rig, which is quite fast, and have started using adobe audition for recording purposes.
i use a soundblaster audigy 2 soundcard
when i record one track and then play it, theres a weird sound at around 25 seconds which becomes louder and then stops suddenly. it also creates a delay if i'm recording multiple tracks. here's a sound clip of the noise:

I found a solution which works at least between 50 bpm and 177 bpm:
Add a volume fader. Connect the output of the volume fader to the input of the tempo fader and set the input of the tempo fader to volume, then record the volume fader. Moving the volume fader moves also the tempo fader and changes the tempo.
During play back, the volume fader reads the recorded automation data and updates the tempo fader in real-time and the tempo of the song is changed.
For this you don't have to activate tempo recording in the project settings and the possibilities to graphically edit automation data are also better.
Additionally you can add varispeed to set the speed range from 25 - 88,5 bpm up to 100 - 354 bpm.

Audio dropping from recorded stream during playback

I am using Stream.play() on the server side to set up a hub
to switch between live streams and recorded streams. Basically, I
have a live video stream that we want to switch in a recorded
segment (flv) at the end of which we go back to the live stream.
Both the live stream and the recorded stream are at the same data
rate.
I'm following the code samples from:

The problem I'm having is that the audio starts for the
recorded segment but goes silent after the first 2-3 seconds of
audio. This happens every time the clip is played. This clip plays
fine when linked to directly, without being part of the hub system
using Stream.play(). I have tried this with several recorded
segments with the same result.
Has anyone seen this happen before?

am not on 3.5 yet? I tried adding this to the fms.ini for 3.0.3 and
nothing changed. It may also be worth noting that I am having the
issue even with only a single user connected.
When the client sends a message to the server to play my
"demo" the server calls the following lines of code:

This should switch from the currently playing
"liveEncoderVideo" stream to the "shortDemo" and then back.
The myVODConn is getting set up right as I can see the demo
but again the audio just drops out after 2-3 secs. I also tried to
use the AdobeBand sample files and I get the same thing.

Audio falling out of sync during playback of videos

I now have Windows 8 on a brand new laptop, and new TV dls fall out of sync between audio and video within minutes. Skipping to the beginning and dragging back to my last place in the timeline corrects this for a minute or so, and then falls out of sync again.
Also, other new purchases skip/pause every few minutes. I tested previous dls (that are still in the cloud) and had no playback problems. I don't want to delete everything and redownload until I know for sure that is the solution.

How to create QT movie with two subtitle streams

What would be the best (and fast) way to create a QT movie (or mpeg-4) to convert the DVD project created in DVDSP with two subtitle streams?
Both subtitle streams were created by importing TIFF files with the corresponding timing file. One stream is for the dialogue (Subtitle Track 1 non-forced) and the other stream is for the onscreen text translation (Sub Track 2 forced). There are times when the T/C of the two tracks overlap, as someone is talking while an onscreen text is displayed.
Is it possible to create a QT movie or any other video format with both streams showing?

I have discovered that I can merge two QT movies (Each movie with one stream of subtitles/TIFF files) by copying all tracks from one movie to the other. Now I have a QT movie with two subtitle streams. Each subtitle stream is in a video track as animation.

No sound during playback (but sound effects are working)

Was there a bad incremental update in the last 24 hours? Woke up this morning to find that my 2nd Gen Apple TV has gone mute. But only during playback of videos or music. The clicking sound effect during navigation comes through just fine. Tried this over HDMI and the Digital out, with both a receiver and directly to the tv. Also tried it with multiple apps so it isn't app specific. Hope Apple fixes this soon.

Sorry if I came off a bit testy. I use the Apple TV daily in my work environment for background noise and the issues totally derailed my workflow this morning.
So, I tried adjusting audio settings for both Dolby Digital and Audio Out. No luck.
Last resort time. Hardwired (USB cable) to my laptop and restored via iTunes. Success, audio fuctional across all apps. Not the best of solutions because of the time required to restore accounts for the various 3rd party apps on the Apple TV but it worked.
Guess I will never know what caused the 'no audio" issue though I suspect a bad/failed auto update. As convenient as that new feature is, it doesn't help when things go wrong.
A final note, beta software is supposed to be buggy, I undertstand. Production stuff isn't. I've been a loyal Apple user for 20+ years now because of their quality control. I've used competing products too and felt very annoyed at the lack of QC (looking at you Google TV). I would love to see quicker addressing of bugs on the Apple TV OS because a bad experience is what drives less-technical users away. It is a real game changer device if Apple were to even attempt to give it the level of support that other products get. Anyways, that's my soapbox moment.

IMovie Project seems to skip and pause very briefly during playback

I am creating a video montage in iMovie '09, though when viewing the project during playback the video does not play smoothly and seems to skip and pause very briefly while continuing to play. Each clip separately played smoothly prior to its addition into my iMovie project.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of clips are these?
Specifically, if you right-click on a clip in the Event Browser and select "Reveal in Finder", then right-click on the clip in the Finder and select "Open with...QuickTime Player, and then hit Command-I in QuickTime Player to open the Inspector Window, what codecs are mentioned next to the word "Format:"?

Video track randomly glitching and hanging during playback

not sure if this should be here or in the compressor forum, appologies for that....
I am building a fairly simple DVD with the main track being 35 minutes and then the "bonus features" consisting of one track with about 12 chapters and stories for the "play all" button...
Anyways, the extra features seem to play fine but the main track seems to be randomly glitching and/or hanging up during playback...sometimes near the beginning, sometimes near the end, totally different experiences on different DVD players as well as the same player at other times...
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might begin to diagnose this? I have built many similar DVDs in the past but have not encountered this before and need to be quite confident in the master before we press 10,000 copies!
I have encoded all media in compressor using "90 Minutes Best Quality" setting..

Whoa!!! I'd back up here and make sure you have your "T" s crossed before your continue with 10,000 discs! What were your bitrates for the main track and Bonus features? Did you use AC3 audio? DVD has a bitrate ceilings of 9.8 for video. Its also important you check your bitrates in a viewer to makes sure your OK.
Bitrates are the most crucial part to control in DVD.

Set subtitle stream change at a chapter marker

Is there a way that I can set a subtitle stream to activate at a certain chapter point?
example: the video would be playing then at 2:30 the subtitle stream would automatically turn on?

What I did so far is set a chapter marker right before the chapter marker where I want to to change (ex. I want the subtitle to start at 2:30, I put another marker at 2:29 and attach a script to the end jump)
my script is:
movGPRM0, SPRM7
Set System Stream (Subtitle1)(On) if (GPRM 0 = 3)
---*It's the 3rd chapter in the track
My problem is that after it executes the script and turns on the subtitles, is that it repeats and loops on itself (ex. it loops from 2:29-2:30)
-If I put an exit command, it doesn't resume playback. How can I just have it execute the script at the chapter marker and resume seamlessly??

Audio Mixer faders don't move during playback, but levels do change

Hi, I'm having this problem (FCP 6.06):
I've automated clip levels on my audio tracks with keyframes. Druing playback, all the audio mixing works fine, volumes go up and down like they are supposed to.
However, I wanted to watch it happen in the audio mixer. Expect, with the audio mixer open, none of the faders move, even though I can clearly hear the clips adjusting themselves properly.
If I stop the playback, and click around in the timeline, then the faders move to show the correct levels. But during playback, they will not move at all!
I tried changing the audio mixer Source menu, from auto, canvas, viewer, etc. No effect. I tried enableing the "Record audio keyframes" button, the downmix buttone, etc. No effect. Any ideas?

I have the same problem.
I figured out, that the failure occures for sure if I speed up the video to > 1000%. The funny thing is that the video plays fine, only audio (musik track) stopps...
The audio track of the video (therefore also speed up to 1000%) is muted, and shouldn't be rendered, right? But if I delet this speeded up audioclip the problem is gone!
Another problem is the master-audiometer. It stopps working sometimes while audio is still playing. Changing the sequence and changing back again helps solving the problem for some minutes... boring.
What should we do?
I don't think that my pc is to slow. i7 980X, 24GB Ram, GTX 680, Raid0 SATA3, SSD.

Premiere CC - Aspect ratio changes suddenly during playback

**Probable Bug**
This is very strange, and has just recently started happening in Premiere Pro CC after recently updating to OSX Mavericks and the most recent update of Premiere Pro CC. My timeline is 1080p (1.0), 23.976 and I often use the playback at 1/2 or 1/4 resolution feature while building my sequence before rendering.
During playback at 1/4 resolution, either while clicking on the playhead or during playback, the frame in the PROGRAM window will suddenly change from 16:9 to something that looks nearly square (1:1.5 or so) for no apparent reason. It does this both to video footage (which was shot at the same frame rate and resolution) and to graphics imported from Photoshop built 1920 by 1080. They look fine when the sequence is not playing, and change suddenly in playback.
As best I can tell this is a bug, but if by chance I've accidentally tweaked a setting I'd love to know about it because I cannot work like this and my computer is not fast enough to play unrendered footage any faster than the 1/4 setting.

If you need 1/4 resolution, you could try setting your Sequence to another Preview File Format, besides I-Frame Only MPEG.

Button on video track via subtitles work but not for audio via story

Hello,
I have a video track with two different audio (two versions of music). I have created two buttons within a subtitle to have them directly on the video
if i make a link to the menu, the button work correctly. But in fact i make a link to two different stories, each with the different audio track
this way it does not work ..
any idea ?

You could use scripts.
Create 2 scripts each with the function "Set System Stream"
and select the "audio streams" which you want to use.
Then add as Startscript to the corresponding story.

DVD SP2.0 - subtitle stream gets reset when track played

Hello,
I have this weird problem ion DVDSP2.0 and i haven't found a solution yet.
I have a dvd with subtitles in 5 different languages. I've made a menu where you can choose the subtitle language, now the weird thing is that when the movie track is played it changes the subtitle stream to the first subtitle stream. But this only happens, when the playhead encounters the chapter 1 marker (in other words if the play of the track is "resumed" this doesn't happen)
So it seems like the chapter 1 marker resets the subtitle stream or something.
There's no pre-script attached to the track.
I really can't figure out what's going on...
Or is this normal behaviour? How can I solve this?

I'm having another problem with this job now I've received the check discs. Basically, I'll run through the dic requirements:
-Audio streams 1 and 2 (English 2 and 5.1) require subtitle stream 2 (for Chinese dialogue translation)
-Audio streams 3 and 4 (French 2 and 5.1) require subtitle stream 1 (for French and Chinese dialogue translation - locked ON)
I have First Play set to Audio Stream 1 and Subtitle Stream 2. I also have a first play script set the same (as an 'Immediate Value').
These settings are are also selectable via the Audio Set-Up menu. However if you put the disc in and INSTEAD of going to the Play or Set-Up menu you go to the Chapters menu and select a chapter, the player is by default using Stream 1 (English) with Subtitle Stream 1 (full English).
In our license agreement, the French audio MUST have English subtitle locked ON at all times.
I have set the User Operations up so thatr these cannot be changed via the remote (Ausio and subtitle streams).
Can anybody assist with this? It's driving me mad!
