Changing sustain CC performance into note length?

Hello all,
I was told there is a way to turn a sustain performance into an extended note in Logic.
If I hold down the sustain pedal and hit a note, release the note, but continue the sustain, Logic can then take the sustain CC and extend the short note I just played into a long note the same length as the sustain?
I'm being overly descriptive because when it was explained here in the studio, it made sense, but I'm not sure how a description over the message board will do.
Anyone done this?
If so, it seems like a great unknown feature, especially for notation.

Hi Mark,
I do this all the time. It's a fantastic feature. Performing the operation will not only change the note lengths to conform to the actual length of the notes but it will remove the "Ped." and "*" from your data.
However, there are two caveats I'd offer:
1. If you have merged two or more tracks which may have overlapping sustain pedal=on markings, the results of which may look like this in the Score Editor:
Ped. Ped. * Ped. * Ped. * Ped. Ped. *
_____^_____________________^_____
Here, the "^" indicate duplicate Ped. markings which will NOT be removed automatically by this process. So if you were to play back a track after you perform the operation, you'll hear what you'll think are hung notes. But really it's a case of these pedal markings not being removed (hence, there is CC#64=127 data which don't have corresponding CC#64=0 to release the pedal). When I hear this, a quick parusal of the track in the Score Editor will always reveal these errant "Ped." marks, and I just delete them.
2. You may find it necessary to perform a "Remove Overlaps" process after you perform the "Sustain Pedal to Note Length" operation. This way, if in your previously merged tracks you had notes which were allowed to overlap by virtue of the sustain pedal, the Note Off from the first instance of the note will not "choke" the Note On from the second instance of the note.
So the only downside to using the Sus-->Note Length function is that you can't get multiple instances of the same note to overlap or pile up on one another. While this is desirable for notation purposes, sometimes it will change the sound of the track so I'll revert to the sustain pedal version for listening purposes but use the non-sustain version for notation.
I have both of these functions assigned to key commands, so my lil' routine is to perform Sus-->Note Length followed immediately by a Remove Overlaps function.

Hari,
in your case (if you don't want to use versioning) I'd rather recommend to change it to hidden than not required. You should be able to do it with standard profiles (the field name, I believe, is dRevision)
I don't think you can have the field empty (in case someone deletes the content).

If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)

If you are going to change your AppleID login you will need to log out and back in on all your devices. Turn off 'Find My iPhone/iMac/iPod' first or you will find yourself unable to sign out and be stuck.

Fixed note length in piano roll

Hello ,is there any way to draw notes with a fixed length in the piano roll rather than using the last edited note's length?
In other words,i want the default note length not to automatically change every time i draw/edit a new note (with a different length).
Im quite sure this cannot be done, but i thought i should ask to confirm...
I also feel i want to say my opinion on that,you dont have to read it or answer back to it:
I find this way of editing very confusing and counter creative ,it sure adds extra thinking proccess.While you are drawing notes it
constantly keeps your mind away from your melody line since in every step, you have to stop some milliseconds and think
"which side should i drag to resize now given the new facts left or right?"....
And extra (unnecessary) thinking always acts against creativity.
I think it seems very logical the way i said that and that objectively, irrelevant to any personal preferences, this way of editing
,even if i doesnt annoy everyone ,it is indeed counter creative.
Especcially if one really does a lot of editing rather than recording.
I wish there was an option for that in the preferences, maybe something very simple like a checkbox "Automaticaly define default note" to uncheck.

You can use the transform tool but it's "after the fact". Simply rubberband a group of notes to be changed and use the Transform tool under the piano roll's "function" menu. Choose "Fixed Note Length" then set the parameter box to the value you need.
There's also this workaround: Find a note of the correct length already in the sequence or create temporary notes of the correct length. I'm assuming by "draw" you mean using the pencil tool. Move the pencil over the *center of note with the length you need, left mouse click and hold for a second, until the pencil turns into a hand, you will now have the length set for drawing new notes. The pencil tool is still selected so you don't have any additional selections to make.
Yes, it's a hassle, but once you get used to it you will find it's faster than what you've been doing.
*slight correction: when moving the pencil tool over the *center of a note, it will change into the pointer arrow, left click and hold and it will change into the hand, move the pointer away and it goes back to the pencil.

Office 2010 upload manager is designed to work with Sharepoint 2010 not reverse.
But this is how you fix the tool to work with Sharepoint 2007.
IIS 6.0 Do this
Go to the site on each server if you are a farmed environment.
Locate the Web Application supporting the site and add a custom header to the site.
Add the primary url of the site into the custom headers,
http://site.name.com
and click ok.
No need to restart IIS and it will not impact your services.
IIS 7.0 do this
To resolve the issue, perform the following procedure:
Go to Resource Policies > Web >
Rewriting > Custom Headers > (if 'Custom Headers' is not visible, click
Customize on the right top to enable the view).

I agree with ya. I also see your point about quantizing note endings to snap to the grid. You're right that the shortcut doesn't perform that function. Since I don't worry about my non perfect event endings too much, the few times I do want to change them it's usually to quantize more or less similar notes so I use the shortcut. Outside of that, it may not be as useful.
If you have Cubase already and find it works better for you, then why bother with Logic?
I agree with this too. ET-Cubase is great! Version 5 is very nice and apparently does some things better than Logic 9 can do. I find Logic 9 to be the best overall DAW package in existence for my personal workflow, projects, musical ideas and taste. If Logic is such a hassle for you and Cubase is an apparent godsend I think you know the decision to make.

1) Dont use nested select statements
2) If possible use for all entries in addition
3) In the where addition make sure you give all the primary key
4) Use Index for the selection criteria.
5) You can also use inner joins
6) You can try to put the data from the first select statement into an Itab and then in order to select the data from the second table use for all entries in.
7) Use the runtime analysis SE30 and SQL Trace (ST05) to identify the performance and also to identify where the load is heavy, so that you can change the code accordingly

MAINSTAGE 2.2: Sustain pedal triggering E3 note on MainStage and making notes get stuck

Hey guys! I've been having issues recently with my MS and can't find to know why. I want to start of with a detailed list of what I'm using to know if this helps.
- MacBook Pro OS X 10.9 (8gb RAM and intel 2.26 core 2 DUO)
- MainStage 2.2. (32 bit)
- Keyboard controller (I normally don't take a keyboard with me but instead use my Macbook Pro to trigger sounds through MS and use the KB just as a controller, but normally I use Yamaha Motif KB's - this actually varies!)
- MIDI-IN and OUT to USB cable
- Normal, regular sustain pedal (FYI, checked that polarity is on the correct possition already!)
- Korg NanoPAD 2
- Korg NanoKONTROL 2
- USB splitter to connect (NanoPAD 2, NanoKONTROL 2 and MID-IN and OUT TO USB cable)
- Apoogee Duet 2 (connected to the most powerful USB port)
So here's the issue and what I've done to try to fix it (Troubleshooting) and also, what I know that is not affecting MS as in connections, hardware and routing processes.
ISSUE:
Every time I press the sustain pedal it triggers E3 note and it toggles between Sustain and this E3 note.
Every time I try to ASSIGN the sustain pedal in LAYOUT mode, press the ASSIGN button, hold and release the sustain pedal, it toggles between "Sustain" and "E3" noted assigned to the sustain pedal
TROUBLESHOOTING:
- I've made sure that the sustain pedal is connected to the right input on the back side of the KB (controller)
- I've made sure that the polarity is correct (switched it just in case - not working still!)
- In LAYOUT mode I ASSIGNED the pedal correctly to my sustain pedal (when it is on "Sustain" it is still triggering this E3 note)
- I've tried going through "ASSIGNMENTS & MAPPINGS" down to "PORT 1 USB2.0-MIDI" wich is the MIDI port that is shown on my MacBook Pro, and verify that it is showing "64 (Sustain)" as the mapped assignment and "SEND TO ALL" parameter (so it is triggered through all of my sounds)
- I've tried going to WORKSPACE and manually MAP PARAMETER the sustain pedal, but when I do this, it still shows that E3 note is being triggered.
- I've tried a clean boot of MS (same thing)
- I've tried a OS X clean boot (same thing)
- I've tried changing the MIDI-IN and OUT USB cable (3 different ones)
- I've tried connecting ONLY (NO SOUND DEVICE or Korg Nano devices nor USB splitter device connected) the MIDI-IN and OUT USB directly to the computer and into different USB ports (still the same thing!)
- I've tried different sustain pedals
What are your thoughts guys? Do any of you guys know how to fix this or have exp. this before? This is really strange and I'm actually thinking that it might be my Macbook Pro USB ports that are going crazy! One thing that I noticed is that sometime ago the MIDI DEVICE that was shown on "MIDI STUDIO" in System preferences was named after "USB MIDI CABLE" and now it is not available to use. Instead, now it is showing as "USB2.0-MIDI" and that's the one that is being used by my Mac. An interesting thing is that when I try "TEST" in MIDI STUDIO and play my KB, it does nothing .... no sound is heard as a MIDI signal being fed to my Mac.
PLEASE HELP! Need to fix this URGENTLY!!!

If we can't figure out why it's sending a note on command, let's just find a way to make it stop. First, go to layout mode, select the sustain pedal, and make your settings manually(don't press the assign button). Set it as you described above.
In Layout mode: (when toggled to sustain pedal)

Next, copy the sustain pedal control(the easiest way is command>C then command>V). It will look like this:

The idea is to send that unwanted note the the lowest note(0) so it won't be in the way. I don't know if it will work for you, but it's worth a try.

Note length input to short with octapad??

I am trying to trigger/record percussion parts into logic 9.1.3 via a spd-30 octapad. When I open the piano roll after the take the note lengths are so short it can't trigger the soft synth on playback. (I have been trying to trigger stormdrum 2 through the play 2 engine and virtual drumline through kontakt 4). I have increased the gate time on the octapad to 1 second for input, but no change on logic. Does anyone know how to change the input note length on logic as I am recording? Is there an input filter for this? (I can't find it.) Any help is appreciated. thanks.

it must be something in the octapad because I can't even get the octapad to trigger the soft synth when I am not recording. I tried the low latency setting and no change. I added the roland driver for the mac and no change. I did try it with ultrabeat and it worked so mabye something in the plug in setup sending notes through. I can change the length after the fact but that is very efficent when I am trying to play against another track...;0

How can I change my Apple ID into my MobileMe address

Just had a realyl funny chat with the iCloud support. totally useless...
My situation: I already had an Apple ID for iTunes etc. Now I registered for iCloud and wanted to use it also as eMail Service with an @me eMail Adress. Registered for iCloud, was asked to select a nice @me email adress, everything worked fine. But: My Aplle ID is stil lthe email of my "old" email provider. Woudnt make sense if I switch to the @me Adress. So lets chage it. But does not work.
Now it seems Apple wants me to maintain my gmail account, not allowing me to change my Apple ID into the new @me.com email address. Can this be true?
Does anyone know what I can do?

Generally in standard, the changes logs are saved into table CDPOS and CDHDR.
Its working fine in my system.
Can you see the changes log with regards to document number by running program RSSCD200.
Go to SE38 or SA38, enter the program RSSCD200 then press execute.
Enter * in object class and enter the document number

When opening a 6x4 landscape orientation raw (.dng) file in Photoshop CS5, it will automatically crop to a 4x6 orientation. How can I change this? I did not have this problem before now.

I need to know how to correct this so it doesn't automatically change the orientation.

That's new to me. I usually use the standalone dng converter to convert any raws to dng. Then I can open in Photoshop. Since I have never had this problem, the best I can do is to get you close to a fix if I don't have an exact answer. There is also a Camera Raw forum that can better advise you.

Since I'm most experienced in Photoshop, I can only hand out stock troubleshooting that would just miss the problem. Photoshop CS5 does host ACR. Is this happening when you open the dng in ACR from Lightroom, and not after you open the dng from ACR into Photoshop?
Finally when a dialog box isn't working correctly. It's the Alt key on your keyboard that would change the Cancel button into Reset in ACR. It might not work if you are using a Bluetooth keyboard. (My screen capture keys won't let me show the Reset button)
So try that and if it fails, check out the other forums. If no one else joins this thread, I should tell you I"m out of ideas, can't seem to locate an answer, and I don't want to hold you up.
