Changing System ID (SID) for production environments

We have had 4 cloned machines for the development of production environments but unfortunately we skipped changing the SIDs for them. Now all the 4 machines have the same SID. Though things are working fine as of now but in the near future this case might become problematic. Is there a way to change the SIDs so that the changes are reverted in the database as well ?? We tried the conventional way to change the SIDs on Demo environments but since then the systems didnt start up....Does anybody have a clue what to do??
Waiting in hope!!

>Now all the 4 machines have the same SID.
What SID are you talking about ? Peoplesoft ACCESSID ? SYSADM1 ? Database ? Please clarify.

  • System Fail Error  for Product categories  download

    Hi All,
I am workin on SRM 4.0.We have started the initial Load for product categories but unable to load the  material groups from the backend as  prod  catgories in SRM.
When I activate the Queue in SMQ2,it shows the status "System Fail" with the message " Hierarchy(with some  ID)  does  not exist ".What  could be the reason for the unsuccesful download? Please help.
    Regards,
    Disha D.

    Hello Disha,
As Bertrand (and Vadim) said, you have to maintain this customizing point...
But if you read the linked documentation, it says that the system should assign the hierarchy automatically:
"When system settings for materials and services are replicated from the ERP system ,the relevant hierarchy is assigned to the corresponding application automatically. In this case, the assignment need not and should not be changed.
If you are not going to replicate data from the ERP system you must have created the hierarchy you want to assign to the application."
Maybe you first need to create a root hierarchy, assign it to purchasing area, and then the replication will add a "R3MATCLASS" sub node in your hierarchy.
Make few tests as described and tell us.

  • Chang system userid/password for another server instance

It it possible to change the system userid/password for another server
instance. If so , how ?
I would like to allow certain groups to be able to start and stop ONLY their
server without giving out the system account.
    Thanks in advance!

the relationship between the infrastructure nodes and the application server nodes is a one to many relationship. The infrastructure home should be the only home that the EMWebsite service has been started for.
the user to log in to em console is ias_admin/<password> if it does not accept the password that you set for this user then try it with caps lock on as you may have had it one when setting the password.
As 9ias release 2 has been designed with a multiple machine install in mind, if you install more than one instance (multiple oracle homes) on the server then you will end up with multiple apache processes and oc4j processes. This means you will be able to connect to 2 apache server homepages under different ports. That is why you get the same page.

  • How to Enhance search help for product groups. Currently no ability to add multiple lines from result list

    Hi All,
In CRM Web UI,  there is no multi selection option for product group id f4 help for Custmer event creation or edit screen under  “Product” tab=> Product Group ID field.
    Web UI Component Details -
    UI component : TPMOE
    View : TPMOE/ProductEOL
    Context: PRODUCT  Attribute : -PRODUCT_GRUOP
Click on Product Group ID field then below F4 Help screen appears.
In the product group results list, user can select only one row and Then all the product will be queried for selected product group, transferred to product list tab.
Current technical design for Product Group F4:
    a) SE11 Data Dictionary search help “CRM_MKTPL_PGRP1”  is used and data is fetched displayed based it( Refer method GET_V_PRODUCT_GROUP of context node class CL_TPMOE_PRODUCTEOL_CN00)
    b) In UI, F4 pop up is handled by UI Framework in SAP generic manner so no multi selection is allowed.
    c) A round trip event is triggered after selection of row from results which reload view with queried product result based group selected.
    Requirement :-
In the product group F4 results list View, user should be able to select multiple row .As SAP GUI has the option of multiple entry selection from search help window with the help of field called MULTISEL.
System should query for products  with all selected product group, transferred to product list tab.
Note: - The multi select options works fine for GUI, but for UI standard SAP code ignores this or never is this structure taken into consideration. Standard class to display F4 help on UI is CL_THTMLB_F4HELP.
Can we enforce same behavior like DDIC search help in Web UI too  Or suggest how we can achieve this requirement?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Arjun

    Hello All,
We have achieved this requirement by Custom development and approach followed as  -
Define UI object model zprgrp & zprgrpquery and object relationship in table ZCRM_OBJTAB
    Query Strcuture : ZCRMST_PRGRP_SEARCH & Result List structure : ZCRMST_PRGRP_RESULT
Created Custom component : ZPRGRP with Search /Result view and with GENIL Class, search logic
Defined custom ComponentUsage “ProductGroup1SearchHelp” for ZPRGRP in Standard Component TPMOE
    e.  Called F4 application for field product _group with help component usage created in step d.

  • Is an admin server (WebLogicAdmin) really necessary for production PIA?

    Greetings:
We're on PT 8.50 and WebLogic 10.3 on Windows 2008 R2. The PT install instructions say the Multi Server Domain config option is intended for production environments but I'm not sure that's necessary in all cases. For instance, if PSOL and PSEMHUB are hosted on another server configured Multi Server Domain why would you need to configure another Multi Server Domain just for PIA? Is there any benefit to that? It seems to me there would be less overhead running a Single Server Domain for PIA but I am not an expert. Any input, pros/cons, experience is appreciated. We are a small to medium sized FSCM 9.0 installation - no WebLogic clusters or anything.
    Thanks!
    John

It's not really necessary to have a multi weblogic domain setup if you're not going to assign multiple IP addresses to the server running Weblogic. The multi domain setup will only use its full potential when you go for a failover and load balancing setup. This way you assign a different IP to each of the PIA instances. A load balancer will then balance the load between the PIA instances. The reason why Oracle recommends having a multi server domain is for when you have the PeopleBooks running on the same server. This is because the PeopleBooks might affect your PeopleSoft production environment when it's having problems. With a single server domain only one webserver will be handling the load for both the PeopleBooks and PeopleSoft. If there's a servlet failing on the PeopleBooks for some reason then it will cause problems.
If the PeopleBooks are running on a seperate server you're theoretically already running a multi server setup. I don't see a reason why you can't use the single server domain.

  • Is Java Faces ready to production environments ?

Hi, I'm trying to develop a J2EE application for production environment.
It is intended to go live in about 3 months, the key question I have is if it Java Faces Tech. is ready for production release.
I searched the documentation and as far as I know, there is a Reference implementation provided by Sun, that is not intended for production environments.
That's is one of my questions, is it just that Sun does not guarantee the correct behaviour of it or is it that Sun does not ALLOW you to distribute that Reference Implementation as a part of your product ?.
Do you have idea if Java Server faces is going to have any other production implementation soon ?
What alternative would you advice if Java Faces is not ready yet ? Struts ?.

    Nicholas,
A lot of these questions have been answered before in this forum. JSF is scheduled to be out before the end of the year. If that won't work for you, use Struts now and migrate later, if necessary. You can find more answers to these types of questions on my FAQ (http:/www.jsfcentral.com).

  • Change SID of Production System

    Hi guys,
Does somebody know if SAP supports the change of the * Production SID *?
    Thanks for your help.
    Murat

    Just to add:
Restrictions to renaming apply for the logical system (Tx BD54) name for your production client. In most cases the logical system contains the (then old) SID. Changing that is not supported in production environments.

  • Same logical systems for two environments productive

    Hi gurus.
I have a question for ALE
There are two production systems a copy of another, who want to connect both to configure the ALE, but by mistake, both systems were the same logical system when they made the copy. Since this change takes months. At the moment I can not make this change in BDLS because it is a productive environment.
When trying to configure the ALE, I am have problems with the logical system name, although one of the settings I gave it another name when you configure the transaction BD64.
Guys, what I find solution to configure the ALE, without changing the logical system to a productive environments ??????
    Regards,
    Desiré

Hi Mark, thanks for the replay.
I understand also that the solution is to execute the BDLS to change the logical system and convert all tables to new logical system.
I don´t know how the process copy for both system productive.
The problem is  that both environments are connected to BW, and other applications and they opened an OSS note to SAP consulting and and the answer given is that they did not recommend changing the logical system.
I thought if there was another way to configure ALE without having the problem of changing the logical system environments.

  • Support message and change requests only for production system

    Hi guys,
I would like to connect the solman helpesk with CHARM ( CHARM is still running ).
In CHARM I have to create a CR only for production system. ( don't know why - but works as designed).
In SAP helpdesk I can create support messages for every kind of system type but if I want to connect both (HD and CR) , the source system (ibase component) of the issue will copied to the CR and runs in error because of the rule (only p-system) of CHARM.
Of course I can change the ibase to production system manually in SDCR but it seems a very error-prone method.
Now my question: is it possible to change the ibase component due to the creation of CR by copy rule or something like this?
    Kind regards
    Rayko

    Hi Rayko,
We do not have this option.
Once in ChaRM, we assume that the changes will always correct an issue in the PROD system.
I would recommend to open the tickets directly with the PROD system IBase, once the issue is also happening there.
    Best Regards,
    Fernando

  • How to change the SID for an existing system

    Hi All,
I need to change the SID of the development and quality system without making a system copy.
The requirement is on strict timeline basis so I need to find out an alternate way to do it. A system copy will need a lot more time to do the same which is the last option at this time.
    Please suggest.

  • Sender SOAP Adapter - how to avoid changes of URL for diferent environments

    Dear experts,
we have a concern with transports of PI objects in our environment.
    Situation:
When we transport SOAP Sender objetcs in PI from Dev to Test the URL (Endpoint) changes automatically the hostname and the business system (target system in SLD). For example:
In Development to call the Web Service (Sender SOAP Adapater):
    http://sappid1.evonceib.local:50100/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_D&receiverParty=&receiverService=&interface=PEMP_PagadoresMaintain_Async_Out_WS&interfaceNamespace=urn%3Aonce%3Asppemp%3Amanagedatosdepagadorpa_in_pemp
In Test to call the Web Service (Sender SOAP Adapater):
    http://sappit1:50100/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_T&receiverParty=&receiverService=&interface=PEMP_PagadoresMaintain_Async_Out_WS&interfaceNamespace=urn%3Aonce%3Asppemp%3Amanagedatosdepagadorpa_in_pemp
    Problem:
The consuming side only wants to have one endpoint and don't want to touch the development when transporting the consumer. Generally to find a work around via DNS aliases for the hostname should solve the prefix of the URL, but how to handle the difference of Business Systems senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_D and senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_T in the URL?
In the SLD I can not maintain two BS with the same name, when I do not define a transport target the import fails.
So anybody has an idea how to get exactly the same URL for diferent environments?
    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards,
    Karsten Blankenstein

    Hi ,
It is recommended to use different environmemt for Dev,testing,Production. So your PI server host name and port will be different for every environment.
    So URL will differ.
however if you dont want to change Business system Name then go for BUSINESS SERVICE/COMPONENT instead of BUSINESS SYSTEM. It will be same in every environment and also dont need to maintain anything in SLD

  • Same SID for QA & Prd systems - pros and cons?

    We have the foll systems:
    1. Enterprise Portal 7.0
    2. NWDI 7.0
    3. NW 7.0 (with XECO - Ecommerce)
    4. TREX 7.1
    5. Content Server 6.40
    6. ECC 6.0
Currently the QA and Prd systems have the same SID and system/instance no, although they are on different hosts.
We would like to know what are the long term pros and cons for keeping the QA and Prd SIDs the same for all systems.
We are already making a list, so thought we might as well get more inputs from the community too.
We already have this arrangement for the past 3 months and have not faced any major issues.
    A couple of cons though:
    1. Cannot use solman as it cannot distinguish between the diff servers with same SID
    2. ABAP transports from QA to Prd have to be manually done (cannot use STMS)
    Thanks
    Prasad

    Hi Manoj,
Changing the SID of java systems is a very tedious procedure. Hom sys copy is just a part of the SID change...there are a whole lot of configs to be done after that...the task is eq to a new setup of systems
For once, the efforts put in are huge..you can see there are 5 systems..besides, it will involve coordination from all teams - basis, development, functional, project management.
Here are a few advantages that we know of:
    1. No efforts reqd to change back to original SID
    2. During disaster recovery, we just have to restore the production database on QA and change the hostname, whereas its not so in case of having diff SIDs
    3. For end-users this will be transparent because they will be using the hostname in the URL which is anyways different
We have the same SIDs for the past 3 months and have not seen major issues, but we also would like to know from the long term perspective if there are any risks that we have not foreseen...hence we seek help from the community.
    Hope its clear now
    Thanks for your response

  • Change SID for Oracle XE

There is supposedly a procedure for changing the default SID of an XE database on AskTom but I cannot find it. Does anyone have the link for the procedure. Thanks.

    1) edit LISTENER.ORA to change the port from 1521 to 1522
    2) alter system set LOCAL_LISTENER = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=hostname)(PORT=1522))
