Changing the Back Button?

Hi there and thanks for helping.
My question is... Can I change the preset back button( Looks like this < )
in IDVD 5 for navigating arounbd my DVD? and if so how?

If I am reading these right, then according to this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=611922&tstart=0
you can't change the back button.
Sorry.

  • Is it possible to change the "back button" arrow in iDVD5?

    I would rather have a different icon than the same arrow that's always been used for the back button on the idvd menu options. Do I need to get a different program to make my DVD menu's look less like it was obviously made in idvd?

    Yes, it is possible to change the arrow in iDVD but it takes a lot of work.
    1) Chose the theme you want to use. (I will demonstrate with the theater theme)
    2) In Finder go to your applications folder then right or ctrl click on iDVD. You should have a window like this click on the Show Package Contents button like this http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c261/Matt_Skorina/Picture3.png. You should be in another window with one folder in it called Contents. Go through that folder then click on the folder called Resources. This should be a big folder, scroll down it to where the themes are. Right or ctrl click on the theme you will be using like this http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c261/Matt_Skorina/Picture2.png. You should again be in a window with only a folder called Contents, go through this. Then go through the Resources folder. Now go through the BackButton.Media.pox folder near the top. Again go through the Contents folder. Then go through the Material folder. You need to leave this window open. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c261/Matt_Skorina/Picture4.png
    3) Go back to the window that you chose your theme in. You should duplicate your theme and put it somewhere else.
    4) You first need to create two of your own arrow images. One of the arrows will be for when you select it on the dvd the other will be when you don't select it. The size of the images does not matter but the arrows need to be the same size. Also there can't be any background like white. I would recommend using a program like photoshop for this. You need to save the images as .tiff (I am using an image that I found on the internet)
    5) In the Material folder you will see to documents. The one called 557BE9DA-09B4-11D7-925B-00039343AC9A is the image of the arrow when you don't select it. The document called 557C2F14-09B4-11D7-925B-00039343AC9A is the arrow when you do select it. Delete these files.
    6) Put your two .tiff arrows you made into the Material folder. Copy and paste the file 557BE9DA-09B4-11D7-925B-00039343AC9A into the file when you don't select the arrow. Copy and paste 557C2F14-09B4-11D7-925B-00039343AC9A into the file where you select the arrow.
    7) Open iDVD and load your project in the theme that you have modified.
    Here are what it looks like for my images.
    When not selecting arrow.

    This is not esay. Make sure you back up the theme you change.
    Hope this helps,

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    *Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Change the number of history entries on the Back Button

    Firefox allows 15 history entries when holding the Back (or Previous) button. If I want to go to the #31 entry in the history, I have to press and hold Back many times to reach it.
    I want to change that number for more entries like 50. Is it possible?

    You cannot change how many are displayed in the back/forward drop down at a time.
    You can change the number but not how many are displayed at a time in the dialog window.
    Select the earliest entry you can on the back button (the lowest entry), and then invoke the Back button again, and go to the earliest entry.
    I have test data you can try:
    I have '''browser.sessionhistory.max_entries''' set to 70 the default is 50

  • The back button won't activate till the second change. I have uninstalled and removed all directories for firefox still won't work after reintall

    I have firefox 3.6 installed and have been using it for years. All the sudden last week the back button wouldn't work till I go to the second web address change. For example if I start at forums.sagetv.com and select a post I can't hit the back button till I select another article. I have uninstalled firefox deleted all the directories, rebooted and reinstalled the problem still comes back.

    I started having this EXACT same issue a few day ago. I found out that it was the McAfee site advisor causing the problem. Click the Tools drop-down and select add-ons. In the add-ons window, click the Extensions panel. Select McAfee and disable it.
    Hope this helps, Arielle!

  • Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?

    Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
    To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
    This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button?

    In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
    The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
    Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
    You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

  • How to get the values retained on clicking the back button in jsp page

    Hi All,
    I had two jsp's search and results. In the search page when i enter some values in the text fields, the rsults will be displayed for that search criteria. I had a back button in the results page. When i click on this back button i will get back to my search page. I am using the following code for this back button.
    <INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE='Back' onClick="javascript:history.go(-1)" class="button">
    Now the problem is when i get back to search page using this back button, i am not able to get the values in the search page which i entered, i am getting all blank values. What should i change to get these values back in the search page. Should i maintain any sessions for this?

    You have no control at all over the back button process. To the server, it's indistinguishable from the user simply tying the URL of your search page. So, you need to store this data server side*.
    When your search page is submitted and processed, store the values you received for each of the fields into the user's session. Then, when the search page is generated, check the session for these values, and for any values that are not null, put their values into the html as the default values for the textboxes and controls you are using. This lets you handle the whole matter on the server's side.

  • Before the recent updates to Firefox, clicking on the back button always brought me back to the same place on the page where I had been, but now it brings me to the top of the page. How do I restore the previous feature?

    Before the recent updates to Firefox, when I would go to another page in the same window and then clickon the back button, Firefox used to bring me back to the same place on the page where I had been, but now it brings me to the top of the page, meaning that I have to laboriously scroll down to the old place. How do I restore the previous feature?

    That change was made in Firefox 4, 6 months ago.
    Click-hold the unified Back / Forward button <br />
    or <br />
    right-click it to get the Back / Forward history for that tab.
    Or install this extension to get the old "drop-marker" button restored. <br />

  • I hate the update of the bar. It has totally done away with being able to skip back several places in the browser; now I can only click the back button and go back one page at a time. I otherwise hate the new layout, too. How do I undo this?

    I can't choose a specific page to skip back to but must click the back button over and over to get back to where I want to skip to. The little headings "most visited," "getting started," "Youtube," etc. have changed. They look more colorful, but I hate how the home button is clear over to the right side of the page, etc. What was wrong with the way everything was before? I HATE this new update, and I didn't even want it.

    You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
    If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker

  • Firefox was a good, but now it's slow and when I search google I have to refresh the page when I click the back button. This is driving me to other browsers.

    When searching in goole, If I click on a link and want to go back a page firefox does not load the previous google search without refreshing the page. Because I use google frequently this is very annoying. Firefox has also been freezing and crashing most frequently of any of the other browsers that I have been driven to use. I'm not sure why I should keep it on my computer at this point.

    Regarding the Google results page blanking out when you go back, this occurs when using a combination of three settings, which may be fairly common:
    * Zoom level higher than two steps (120%; the newest versions of Windows apparently default to 125%, which Firefox detects and adopts)
    * Google search set to instant prediction results (default on Google search, but can be disabled in Search settings, see [https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/186610 Google Instant Search Help])
    * Opening results in the same tab, then using the Back button to return to the results page (default on Google search, but can be changed in Search settings to open results in a new window/tab, see [https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/425 Google Search Help])
    Firefox's cache feature attempts to maximize speed for forward and back actions by storing the last rendering of the page. Something about the instant prediction results ''with zoom'' is causing Firefox to briefly display the results and then they blank out and you have to reload the page to get them back. The mystery is why this only occurs (so far as I have heard) on Google? Is one of Google's scripts blanking out the page? Does Google care that it's messing up Firefox users?
    For now, if you do not want to or cannot change any one of the three factors needed to experience this problem, you can disable the storage of the last rendering of the page. Then Firefox will skip the shortcut and lay it out fresh, which is known to work. As noted in earlier posts, you make this change using the about:config preferences editor.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered.
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers''' preference and change it to 0 (that's a zero).

  • Some of the time the back button is greyed out when i have clicked on a new link. It's not a new window or tab, and the page I came from is not even in my history!

    At first I thought I had unknowingly gone to a new tab or window, but that's not it. I haven't ruled out that I have completely lost my mind, but I'm really hoping that's not the problem, although with win 7 that seems more and more likely all the time. It seems to happen at random. I tired holding down or right clicking the back button but there is nothing. The fact that the page I came from is gone from the history seems really strange.
    Sorry for the duplicate post, see this topic: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/807937

    This issue can be caused by the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension.
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • PPR and the Back Button

    Hi all,
    I posted recently about a workaround Oracle showed me for helping manage back button problems more efficiently, but now I'm having a separate back button problem.
    Changes that were made to a page via PPR disappear after coming back to the page by clicking the browser back button--for example, if I added a row to an <af:table> using PPR, navigate off the page, and click the back button, the row will disappear again--although it will reappear as soon as any event re-refreshes the table. I've tried turning off browser chaching, and it makes no difference, which makes me suspect this is not a browser caching issue.
    Does anyone know if there's a way to make sure a component is always refreshed when the page is loaded, even if it was loaded via the browser back button?
    Thanks much,
    Avrom

    Hi Frank,
    Great idea, thanks! I haven't tried it out in all my cases, but it looks like it's going to work!
    For the use of others, here's what you do:
    1) Make sure your model layer is capable of supporting the back button here, of course.
    2) Create a method, String refresh(), in a backing bean. This method can be a no-op (just return null) if you don't need to do any work to re-set the page. But if, for example, you calculated values referred to in the page, you should re-calculate them here. If you had code that calculated them when the page was originally loaded (*not* for PPR), you can take that out, because this will always get called on a new load/back button load/reload.
    3) Add a CommandLink like this one to your page (needs to be in a form, but otherwise it doesn't really matter where):
    <af:commandLink id="refresh" partialSubmit="true"
      action="#{yourBean.refresh}"/>4) Add a call to a javascript function like the following in your <afh:body>'s "onload" tag:
    function refreshPage() {
        var refreshComp;
        if (document.getElementById)
            refreshComp = document.getElementById("refresh");
        else if (document.all)
            refreshComp = document.all["refresh"];
        else if (document.layers)
            refreshComp = document.layers["refresh"];
        if (refreshComp) {
          refreshComp.click();
    }(All of that rigmarole is to support different browsers, which have different ways of retrieving a DOM element by its id.)
    5) For each component you need refreshed on a back button, set (or add) "refresh" to its partialTriggers property.
    6) Sit back and watch the Back button work.

    how do i move the reload page button in firefox OSX to beside the back button where it was before i updated.
    i know there is a classic theme addon for windows but i need a fix for osx...its very frustrating when you update and things like this change and cant be customized back to the way we are used to using the browser. its counter intuitive to have the refresh page button so far away from the back and home buttons.

    Is Classic Theme Restorer only for Windows? I thought it worked on Mac, too. Some of the pre-selected interface items like the Application Button may match old Windows versions and you may need to deselect those in its Settings dialog.
    To access that dialog, you can use the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Command+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions, the on the right side, look for the Options button below Classic Theme Restorer.
