Changing the brush cursor

RE: Photoshop Cursor (Pointer, Brush Shape, Tool) not changing.
If you already know how to go into the Photoshop>Preferences>Cursors and change the Painting Cursors to your choice (Standard, Precise, Normal Brush Tip, Full-Size Brush Tip etc.) and what you have set (can see in the example window) is NOT showing up on your artwork (canvas, board, workspace, window) then the PROBLEM IS Adobe Photoshop NOT you.
SOLUTION: Quit Photoshop FOREVER (just kidding – I love PS):
1.Quit Photoshop
2. Find a folder called Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings (or your version of Creative Suite) Mine is in MacintoshHD>UserName (my computer’s name)>Library (NOT the System Library)>Preferences> Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings (open this folder)
3. Here you will see a file called, “Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp” and likely was modified “Today”
4. Delete it, or move it to desktop (elsewhere) IT IS CORRUPTED
5. Relaunch Photoshop and this file will recreate itself back to the default settings (Sorry your Recent items list will also go back to default)
6. Open the document you were working on (you saved it?)
7. Within Adobe PS go file, Photoshop>Preferences>Cursor and your OK will actually work.
By The Way:
Preferences Files are used by most applications (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint; Adobe Illustrator/SoundBooth; Web Browsers etc.) They record your personal choices on how to interact/interface with the app. They get corrupted – they just do . . . when you delete one and relaunch, the application creates a NEW Preferences File with the default setting and the “its not changing” problem fixes itself but you will lose all your preferred settings (having to reset them all over again). Still, this is better than not being able to change things - cause that creates, “User Madness”.

Change the pen cursor preference

how do i change the pen cursor as it won't point to where i wanted it to be but about few millimetres away and only draws at certain angles and not free flowing…same goes with my shape tool which draws incrementally rather than free shaping.
i tried to change the preferences but don't know how…pls help

And ou may consider whether you are haunted by the Align to Pixel Grid ghost.
If so, you may select everything and then untick Align to Pixel Grid in the Transform pallete, and also untick Align New Objects to Pixel Grid in the flyout options.
You may avoid document types with that as default (RGB for web and the like) or change the default for such documents.

Changing the Text Cursor for all Text Components

Hi,
The users have asked me to change the text cursor i.e, the vertical cursor for all the text components in our application.
Is there a common way to change it , without having to call the setCaret method for each of the text components ?
I saw that Cursor class has a Cursor type called TEXT_CURSOR. I'd like to be able to change that cursor.
Any ideas, suggestions?

I was talking about the blinking vertical caret - sorry I got confused between the I-beam cursor and the caret(!).
I wanted to change the caret color at the very least.
Although preferably, I would like to make it a bit wider.
I just found one solution to change the caret color across all the textfields using UIManager -

Early today Alt, Ctr and Click and drag changed the brush size. Now it makes the move tool work. Anyone have this problem. I think Adobe had an update and put a bug in the program.

Select brush tool in the tools panel,on selecting the brush tool there are three extra options exposed at the end of the tools in the tools panel. 1: Brush Mode 2.Brush size 3.Brush shape.Click on brush size option to select the size.

Quickly change the Brush's mode

Hi,
I am constantly switching the mode of the Brush tool from Normal, Lighten, Color, and Darken. The only way I've found to switch is to select the mode from the dropdown.
I've trying creating actions to switch the mode but the actual mode selection is not recorded in the action.
Ideally, I'd like to assign keyboard shortcuts that "select brush tool, set mode to Lighten", etc.
Any idea as to how I might do this?

Mouse cursor will not change to brush cursor in photoshop cs6

Hello can I ask for your help please.
My mouse cursor will not change to a paint brush cursor. I have tried the preferences/cursor selection but it still does nothing, I have also tried resetting the brush tool and still nothing.
I am also using a wacom but I don't think its my tablet, I am using a IMac.

How to change the mouse cursor icon type when mouse moves out of client area ( propertysheet) WTL?

I got stuck with an issue in property sheet .I want to load different cursor when the mouse position is within the client area and load another when moves out of the client area.
In the porpetysheet I added four page. In the first page when I click next I am loading cursor of IDC_WAIT type and loading IDC_ARROW when the mouse moves out of the client area.
In the page class I triggered the event for WM_MOUSEMOVE as follow:

This event is getting triggered and absolutely had no issue with this. Similarly I tried adding `MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_MOUSELEAVE, OnMouseLeave)` this event making an assumption that this will get triggered if the mouse moves out of the client area, but
this event did not get triggered at all.If this is not the mouse event to be triggered for mouseleave which event should I trigger?

I want both of them to be done in parallel i.e, click Next button now hover mouse on the client area, Busy icon should come and when mouse moves out of the client area then IDC_ARROW icon should come.

Interactive SVG : Can't change the mouse cursor to pointer

Hello I am having issue with the interactive SVG file I have followed the example from adobe tv and edgedocks and created my own project and everything is working just fine, now my question is how to change the cursor that hovers over the svg into pointer, I tried the box inside adobe edge animate and everything but not working even jquery or javascript nothing is really working and I can't get the id from the svg itself so I can target it with jquery so could somebody help me with that, Thanks

you can use css to change the cursor in the init function with

change cursormode to one of these:

How can I change the tool cursor from a gun sight to a circle?

Usually the tool cursor is a circle the size the tool is set to, that is, it will be 60 pixels in diameter when the tool size is set to 60 pixels. Sometimes, the tool cursor changes to a gun sight-like icon. I have no idea what I'm doing to cause that, but I'd like to know in order to 1) stop doing it, and 2) maintain my sanity. One problem is that I don't even know what to call it in order to research it. I'd be grateful for any help.

Right you are, R_Kelly. Thanks, that did the trick. Ukgaurav also pointed out some choices in the Displays and Cursors Preferences with which I fine-tuned the tool cursor appearance.

Getting the Brush Cursor

I can't remember just what setting is causing the problem, but having installed PS CS4, my brush cursor can be as big as possible or as small as poaaible and all I see is a small x regardless. I checked the preferences for cursors and they appear correct. Any thoughts? It also appears that my settings for CS3 were affected as well.

Agreed but I couldn't log on to the forum if the caps lock was on, my log in info is all lower case. I should have been more clear but I do appreciate all the help.

Disable CapsLock to changing the brush type

CapsLock will toggle the Painting Cursor between Precise and Full Size
But How I can force It in 'Full Size' mode?
Search a lot on google.
But no solution.

You cannot change the values of those which have already been loaded.But for the records which would be coming in future, you can write a routine to convert from NUMC to CHAR.
