Changing the document page size after the fact.

Does anyone know of a way to change the page size globally after the fact?
I have sent a 200 page book created with Pages '08 to my printer. The work has a full bleed watermark in the background on a custom 7" X 11" document. I've just been informed that he needs to increase the paper size to 7.25 X 11.25 and have me increase the watermark so it can be trimmed down.
Is there a way to change all 200 pages or do I need to set-up a new document and do a whole lot of cut and paste?

Your problem is that the change is not proportional.
However it is not a great change, 6.66% at most. If you don't mind a subtle change in height vs width, just create a pdf of the entire document and tell the printer to change the size on going to plate.
Alternatively you can simply scale it up the 6.66% which will make the height about 0.5" too high and trim away the excess.
The other way is only scale it up 2.27% which gives you the right height but leaves you with 0.1" less width.
Or you can go in between and have a compromise for both directions by scaling up 4.4%.
It depends if you have white margins in either direction that can take up the slack and also how much bleed you have on the watermark. You only need 1/8" to cover any trimming errors.
As this appears to be quite a long book and would need to be imposed up in signatures, I would imagine the printer must have the necessary imposition software to allow for creep etc, which should also allow for non-symmetrical scaling.
Don't you Americans ever feel at moments like these that you wish you weren't the last people in the world to not use metrics and rational paper sizes?

Firefox 4 and the previous 3.x version fail to update changed user home pages? After reboot the ancent home pages reappear and the replace the now ones. Why & how to fix this software bug?

- Firefox 4.0 is used as preferred browser
- One can change the user home pages. The new homepages are found & work ok after closing and reopening Firefox.
- However, after rebooting the laptop (HP Elitebook), old Firefox home pages reappear, they replace the new ones.
- If I remember correctly this bug appeared already prior Firefox 4.0, this malfunction/ bug was noted in some last winter version before the v 4.0.
- Help/ Bug fix is appreciated!

HOW TO: Change page size after page is created?

Is there a way to change the size of a page after the page has been created? In the documentation, the only way I have seen to set the page size is in a "with" statement right after creating the document. I have need to change the size of the document after a document has already been created. Any ideas?

Yep, that's how I am doing it. I just wanted to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I need to keep debugging then and figure out what the real problem is. I am new to all of this (obviously) and I just needed to make sure I had the idea correct. I didn't mean to use document and page interchangeably, I understand that you can't have different size pages in the same document.

[FYI]I created a class that creates a document with most of the document settings that I use (e.g. a standard number of pages, non-facing pages, units in inches, etc.) but I don't specify a page size, that's something that varies between documents, so I figured I could just apply that after I have created the page. The problem is, when I try to create multiple documents it doesn't work. The script will create the first document using the default page size settings and I can't get it to change the page size, but then the next document will be created using the page size I tried to apply from the previous document that the script created. I am sure this is totally a coding error somewhere else. I will try to track it down. Just when I think I have this stuff figured out . . .

I have a measure 'po amount' which is comming from two fact tables cost_f and line_f from physical layer. I have a implict fact column in presentation layer on a column(internal-row count) from cost_f table.
Now, when I take only 'po amount ' in criteria, in the backend query it should have cost_f table, but i am seeing line_f table.
The reason I am checking in this direction is.
I have criteria with 4 columns and measure column 'po amount' and run the result it is fecting from line_f table.
The same 4 columns and measure column 'po amount' and one new column 'cost center' is added to the critera the fact table changes to cost_f table.
In both the cases the result should result from cost_f table, not sure why line_f is comming in backend query.
Please suggest.

Change Printer Default Page size to A4 from Letter in Firefox

Firefox overides printer default page size every time I print. I need Firefox to print to A4 but it automatically sets the Page size to Letter. I have to manualy change the size each time I print.
There are no options in Firefox to change this setting permanently. I am running the latest version of Firefox on Windows XP.
In control panel the default page size is set to A4 which Internet Explorer and other applications use correctly.

I solved it! For anyone having a similar problem try this.
Change the default printer, choose another one.
Change something in that printer and close firefox.
Reopen firefox and choose yet another printer (not the first one).
Change something in that printer and close firefox again.
Reopen firefox and choose the first printer. Select A4 as default paper and close firefox one last time.
Reopen firefox and the problem should be gone. Weird, innit?

Need to change numerous bookmarks page sizes

Someone created numerous bookmarks and when you click on the bookmark the page size jumps to 200%, but the rest of the pages show as 100%. Is there a easy way to change the sizes of the bookmarks to 100%? The only option I can find is clicking on each bookmark, resizing to 100% and right clicking on the bookmark and seletcing "Select Destination".

There's no way to edit multiple bookmarks in this way in Acrobat. You will
need to use either an external tool or a plugin to change the zoom level
setting.

How to change the document page size in a PDF?

OK can't figure a way to do this and hoping it's still possible. On mac snow leopard, adobe X pro. Use to be able to resize the pages in a pdf by printing to the pdf distiller. As this is no longer possible how do I accomplish this? I often have document set pdf's that are 30" x 42" that I want to create a pdf on letter or tabloid size. I can print - so i'm not talking about that. I mean creating a new pdf where the new document size is letter or tabloid. There must be a way to have Adobe save out a new pdf with the pages scaled? How can I change the fact that every time I open firefox, I get redirected to a website promising a free ibook?

OK. So in October I made the mistake of opening a website offering a free iBook (I'm really not gullible; I thought I could figure out who was sending it too me). Ever since then, I cannot open a new Firefox session without being redirected to the site (If I open up more than one webpage and save them before closing, I don't get redirected to the ibook site).
I actually keep my web-surfing software on thumb drives, and I tried two different thumb drives doesn't matter. I purchased and ran an anti-virus program. No dice. Can you help me?

So it sounds like your home page has been hijacked? You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].

Crop/Resize Document Page Size?

So I am using Acrobat Pro XI and I have a PDF form that was 8.5" x 11". When I open the form up and edit everything that needs to be edited, I end up with a lot of white space. So now my document is 8.5" x 5.75" - I need to make this PDF Form this size...why, you ask? Because I want to import it into my FormsCentral account and when it wants to apply the Submit button, it will do it in the proper place (lower right corner).
(If you are familar with FormsCentral: Why can't I move the Submit button anywhere I want it to be on my document?? The four corners is not practical. I had a test user looking for the Submit button!!)

I have also read a document on how to save the FormsCentral PDF as a COPY - I don't have that option!! I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and there is NO Save A Copy under the File menu. Am I missing something??

Is there a way to adjust the Auto Page Size

Hi,
When selecting the "Auto" size option in the InDesign print dialog, it makes the page .6667" bigger than the document page size. I would like to adjust that amount to an even 1" bigger than the document page size. Is there a way to change this setting?
I understand I can create a custom page size for each document, but I rather just have the "Auto" option make the page size 1" bigger for printing.

Adjusting the page size in numbers on the ipad

I need to be able to adjust/set the page size for numbers documents on the ipad. Every time I export the numbers document from icloud as a pdf to a pc the spreadsheets are all over the place with page breaks in the wrong places. If i export as an excel I lose all formatting. I can't download as a numbers doc as the pc will not support it. Is there a way of setting and locking the document/page size with out going through the print option as i do not have an airprint printer and am not going to get one either!

I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it. I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

The script crops the top and bottom of each page correctly, but only expands the width of the left and right sides on the first page. After doing some experiments it seems the script will crop pages to a smaller size but struggles to expand pages to a larger size (in converting from A4 to US Letter I need to crop top and bottom to smaller size, but expand left and right sides to larger size). I tried changing "Crop" to "Media" but this didn't help.
Any ideas?

The page size options are limited, but are in the crop tool. If there are no tags or other markup, you can also print to a new PDF and adjust the size in the printer interface -- sometimes the simplest method, but not normally recommended. The rotation can be done in the document menu and then saved. The rotation that is typically on the toolbar are only for the current view and does not save with the PDF. Many of these you can use a batch process to resolve (in AA8 that is under the Advanced>Document Processing). The better method is to setup your Adobe PDF printer to create the correct page size and orientation in the future. You can setup to typically expand to fit, select a paper size, and have the settings set to auto-rotate. The later is based on the text that is found on the page. The margin elimination is also part of the crop tool. Hopefully this at least gives you some things to look at. Unfortunately, the tools get moved around with every version, so you may have to search for the tools.
