Changing the folder a workbook is based upon

I am using discoverer desktop 10.1.2.1
If I have a workbook based on folder_a and I create a duplicate of that folder called folder_b, is there a way to change the workbook to pull from folder_b?

We do have a workaround for this.
After you create folder_b. Go to Folder_A properties and change the property "visible to user - False". Then login to Desktop and open the workbook. There would be a error and Workbook ask for substitue column values from Folder_b. It would be a trouble some process but worthable workaround.

  • How do I change the folder in which Mail saves sent e-mails (On my Mac)?

If I send an e-mail from my iPad, te e-mail is saved in "sent items". However, if I send an e-mail from my Mac, with mail, the e-mail is saved in another folder: "Sent Messages".
I know I can easily change the folder in which the iPad saves sent e-mails, but I would like to change this setting on my Mac, so that the Mac saves sent e-mails exactely where the iPad saves snet e-mails.
Is it possible to change this setting on the Mac?

    There might. (Stress, might.)
    Quit Mail.
    Make a backup of <~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist>.
Open it with a suitable text editor (eg, TextWrangler), or plist editor (eg, Xcode, Pref Setter).
Look for the key "SentMessagesMailboxName". Replace the string "Sent Messages" with what you want.
Repeat for every such key. Save.
Launch Mail. Test. If anything goes wrong, replace com.apple.mail.plist with the backup.
Warning: I have not tested this myself, so I don't know if it works and/or if it causes any problems.

Sorry. Basically, i have plugged my mac formatted ipod into a windows pc then gone into the driv (where it says contacts, games, recordings etc) in there, there is a folder which is called metadata. I have accidently changed this folder to open with quick time instead of the default. I can't remember what the default application was.

  • Change the folder icon "properly"! not by "Get Info." window.

Hello everyone, I was wondering what is the way of changing the folder's icon "properly"? I don't mean the copy/paste of the icon in the "Get Info." window. Because whan I do that, the icon changes but the problem is when I press the Space Bar for "Quick View" it doesn't show an icon. So that's is why I thought there was another method.
p.s. System folders and drives show their custom icons with "Quick View"
Thanks, this is one of the small (pointless) bugs that tick me off...
    Regards

Sorry to tell you, but all that is totally unnecessary. Just do what Baltwo said but I'm sure that instead of "Open the app" he meant to write:
    •  "Quit from the app, Control-click (right-click) its icon" and choose "Show Package Contents". (That's what Baltwo really meant by "open"! )
    •  In "Resources" find the .icns that the app is currently using and - keeping the same name - replace it with yours (saved as an icns of course).
You can leave the app's original icns in the "Resources" folder (just in case you ever need it) as long as you change its name, e.g. add "BAK" to the name. It will do no harm sitting there.

  • New computer at work and all my song are on the server-when I try to change the folder location under preferences to the server, it still won't show my songs in Itunes?? please help!

I have a new computer at work and all my song are on the server-when I try to change the folder location under preferences to the server, it still won't show my songs in Itunes?? please help!

    Howdy carpetjim,
When you change the folder location like that, it changes where new songs and media are stored. To actually load the library you need to do this:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you are using the Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of the following screens:
    Additional information
If you do not see one of the screens above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.

  • Itunes will not recognise when i change the folder location

I have removed all my music from my pc hard drive and moved it to an external hard drive to free up space. i have changed the folder location in preferences but itunes still says that each and every track cannot be found. it doesn.t revert back to the original location just doesn't find the tracks..... i've done the same thing on my powerbook and it worked fine - can anyone help me out please?
    thanks very much.

Changing the location of your iTunes Music folder in your iTunes Preferences doesn't affect files that are already in your Library ... it only affects where tracks that are added from that point on will be located.
If you still have the tracks on your PC, you can make use of this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.
If the tracks aren't on your PC any longer, post back for another strategy.

  • Changing the folder icon

I'm trying to change the folder icon for the Pictures folder. But, when I do, the Pictures icon on the left of the window also changes and becomes the same as the Pictures folder icon. I want the two of them to be different but can't seem to figure it out.

    http://www.panic.com/candybar/
If you really want to get into it, changing application icons, most of them are separate .icns files within the application package.
For example, the Finder icon is
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/Finder.icns
When you select Finder.app-Ctrl-click and choose show package contents to dig further down.
Most of the other standard icons used by the Finder are in the same Resources folder.
If you install the Developer Tools package from the MacOS X Install DVD, you can use the Icon Composer to apply and save your own icons to pretty much anything.

  • Restrict Permission to change the Folder name of Cfolder Collaboration

    Hi,
As a part of my requirement i would like to restrict the users having the 'WRITE' authorizations  from changing the folder name of folders created under the collaboration. It would be great if you any one can provide some inputs to achieve it

    Hello Vikas,
I can tell you a workaround, how to achieve this.
as an administrator with admin authorization navigate into a folder press the authorization button and select read authorization for (a) user(s)/user group(s)/role(s) used in the collaboration.
Then create under the folder a new folder "Workspace" and navigate into this folder press the authorization button and select write authorization for (a) user(s)/user group(s)/role(s) used in the collaboration.
The procedure could be automated by writing a piece of code, which calls the cFolders APIs:

  • Want to change the name of workbook folder in bex

    hello gurus
i would like to change the name of the workbook folder and the sub-folder in bex, can anyone please tell me how to do?
please note its not name change of query but its a folder name change.
    thanks in advance
    zam

    Hi Zammy,
In the Bex Open or Save dialog box you can see the folders. Click on the button to see the Technical names. This is the name of the role. Open it up in PFCG and make the changes. Take care that if you transport this to your production system, and the role is empty in Dev (no workbooks assigned) then the workbook assignment will be lost in BWP as well. So it is a good idea to have a copy of those workbooks on your local system so that you can replace them after the trasnport.
    Hope this helps...

  • HT201361 Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop. How can I change the folder?

Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop (that is the default). How can I change the destination folder? Thank you, Sal

To change the screenshot capture location to a new place on your Mac, first think of a location that would serve you properly. We like to place ours in a "Screenshot" folder located inside of the User's "Pictures" folder. To change the location to this new location, open the Terminal and enter the following command:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/[u]/Pictures/Screenshots/
Replace "[u]" with the name of the user on your system. Once you have entered this command, let's restart the screen capture utility by restarting the SystemUIServer by entering the following command:
    killall SystemUIServer
You can optionally log out and back in instead of entering this second command, thus restarting the SystemUIServer. Once restarted, all screen captures taken from here on out will end up in your /Pictures/Screenshots/ folder in the User's home folder on your Mac.

  • How can I change the folder path to my library

I just changed the file path to my locally stored music from C:\MyStuff\...\iPod Nano Music\... to C:\OneDrive\...\iPod Nano Music\...
Is there a way I can edit the path that Apple has locally stored to redirect iTunes to the new, correct location instead of (as I've had to do previously) deleting all the music files in iTunes and then adding each music folder back?
In Advanced Preferences the 'iTunes media folder location' shows as C:\Users\Mark\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media with an edit button. However this is not the location of all my music files (as indicated above).
    Mark

If you want to move your media to a new path what you should do is edit the media folder preference in iTunes and then consolidate to that new path. Moving the media first by hand and then trying to fix iTunes is generally the wrong approach.
Your options are to move everything back where it came from, then consolidate to the new path, then delete the originals that iTunes leaves behind. Alternatively you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect the relocated media to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.
See also Make a split library portable for reasons why splitting the media folder to a new path may be undesirable.
