Changing the format back to windows

I first used my ipod on my mac book, and it formatted it to use with Macs, i now need to use my ipod with my windows laptop but i cant seem to convert it back i have tried restoring it on my mac but it doesn't giv me the option to go back to windows. When i plug it into my windows laptop it wont let me restore it there!
Does anyone know what i can do so that i can use my ipod on windows even though it says formatted to macintosh

You need to restore it using the Windows machine. Keep in mind that restoring will delete everything on your iPod so be sure you have the content stored elsewhere as well.

  • How do you change the format from Windows to Mac

    Does anyone know how to change the format from Windows to Mac? When I first bought my iPod I had windows but now would like to change this. Also is anyone aware why some tracks pause for 2 seconds and then carries on.

    Restore the iPod in iTunes for Mac. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Mac version and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to sync using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

  • How do I change the format of my 5th Generation iPod from Windows to Mac

    How do I change the format of my 5th Gen iPod from a Windows format to the Mac?

    But this will delete all the songs I have? I have a lot of them on my iPod classic
    Yes.
    I want to transfer (well copy) all my songs from the iPod to itunes on the mac - and then have the itunes library as being placed on the external drive. The last part I think I know, but I can't work out how to copy music from my iPod
    See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

    Then see here about backing your iTunes library onto an external hard drive.

  • How can I use single hard drive for both Mac OS and Windows without changing the formats and reformatting?

    I have a windows PC and a Macbook Air and a 1TB external hard drive. They said in order to transfer large files into the hard drive you have to change the format of your hard drive (which would be from MS-DOS to Mac Os extended) so how can I use my external hard drive on my windows PC without reformatting its files? Please heeeelp

    Natively Windows can read and write to NTFS, FAT32, and exFAT while the Mac can read and write to FAT32, exFAT, and MacOS Extended.
    Option 1: You can purchase driver software for Windows to allow it to read and write Mac's MacOS Extended or you can purchase a driver to allow the Mac to read and write to NTFS.
    Option 2: you can format the hard drive for exFAT and use it with both Windows and the Mac without purchasing any special drivers. (Obviously the 4GB file size limit is why you don't want to use FAT32)

  • My iPod Classic was stolen and returned to me by police but now it "cannot be synced because it cannot be written to or read from". I noticed the thief had changed the format to "windows" but I have restored it and still get the same message.

    If the media is in the library then yes it is that simple. Connect the device, load it up with your media. The problem is when you try to connect a full device to a new empty library on a new computer when iTunes will offer to replace the content on the device with that in the local library, i.e. nothing! (For anyone in that position see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device).
    You should be able to add your devices at https://supportprofile.apple.com/ though I'm not sure what happens if the second hand iPod was previously registered.

    I have used the resume tablet and put my resume into format but when emailing it, it will not open on windows. How can I change the format to where they will be able to open and view it?

    I guess you mean one of the resume templates.
    What "format" have you saved your finished resume in?
    The only formats a Windows user will be able to open are .doc (Word), .pdf and rtf. The 1st 2 are usually the best.
    There is no Windows version of Pages.

  • How to change the format of the video on my Palm Centro

    I have used the video feature on the phone & have played back the videos fine on my phone.  However, when I sync them to the computer, they are in a Real Player format.  When I try to open them through the back up folders (I wanted to delete them off my phone & palm software so I could take more videos & sync easily.  So I'm trying to move the videos to a separate folder on the computer.  They are actually put in a back up folder automatically when I sync, but they are all in Real Player Format.)
    Anyway - they won't play in Real Player.  How can I change the format so that I can play them back in a program other than Palm????

  • How NOT to change the format

    I have some AVI files and I want simply to edit out a section of one and save it, no change of format. When I try to save it, QuickTime pops up a window for me to choose between "Save as a self-contained movie, Estimated size 661.2MB" or "Save as a reference movie, Estimated size 1.7MB". I choose the first but it automatically changes the format to MOV. I don't want to change the format. Can't QuickTime save a file as AVI? I know I can export a MOV to AVI but the quality suffers quite a lot. The original AVI is excellent quality so I want to keep it like that.

    You are completely mistaken about AVI. It is fully supported by Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992
    Virtually every movie created on all Windows system is AVI. You also misunderstood what I said. I did not mention any degradation in quality from converting AVI to MOV. They are equal. I am talking about needing to keep the original format. I want to keep the AVI format. I only mentioned that using QuickTime Player to convert MOV to AVI results in reduced quality. I need to share the final movie with Windows users who need AVI format as it works perfectly with subtitle files of the most common type (filename.srt) while MOV files often fail to pick up SRT subtitles.
    Now that we have all that made clear, let's solve the problem. What I want is simply an answer to my question. Can you folks drop the Microsoft Versus Apple battle for a while and just try to provide solutions?

  • How do I change the format of the date to dd-mm-yyyy?

    At the moment, the entries will not be accepted unless they are in the format of mm-dd-yyyy which will not go down well on what I am trying to do?
    Any advice on how to change the format?
    Thanks

    Hi Keri,
    I can understand your concern & will help you to get this issue resolved.
    Window where you Insert date in Add Header & Footer, you will get the option of 'Page Number and Date Format'. Please click on it.
    Page Number and Date Format window will pop up on your screen, now you can select the date format from the drop-down list & click on OK to confirm the changes. Please refer to the screenshot below.
    Let me know if you still experience any issue.
    Regards,

  • I am unable to change the format in cells in numbers

    Every time I change the cell format in numbers, it keeps going back to 12/30/11 when I want 2/1/12.  It is quite frustrating because I did what it said to do.  Can someone please help me to change the format.
    Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    A few questions:
    Which version of Numbers are you using?
    Are the cells formatted as date and time? If yes, which date format?
    What separator are you using between the day/month/year in the cell?
    Are you using a formula to calculate additional dates (e.g. adding +7 to create a list of dates one week apart?)
    This example of date format choices is from Numbers '09

    Not happy with version 29.0.1 - Are there any plans to roll this back?

    On my Windows 8 machine Firefox 29 (puke) no longer remembers my "Customize" icon settings ~ every time I close down Firefox and restart they all have disappeared. POS.

  • Change the format of a capture datasorce

    Im trying to change the format(really the resolution) to display the video from my webcam in a small panel(160x120).
    RGBFormat format2 = new RGBFormat(new Dimension(160,120),76032,Format.byteArray,30,24,3,2,1,3,528,1,0);  //this is an example of format supported
    for ( int i = 0; i < formatControls.length; i++ ) {
      if ( formatControls[i] == null )
        continue;
      formats = formatControls.getSupportedFormats();
    System.err.println("Trying format " + format);
    if (matches(format, formats)) {  // this is a static method made by me that probes the matching of all array
    format = formatControls[i].setFormat(format);
    System.err.println("Matching format = " + format);
    Well, this never works, the format displayed is the defalut RGB format(320x160).
    What am i doing bad? Do i need a processor for doing this? My problem is that i want to encode the datasource later to a h263 format to transmit it and also display it in the screen but in a small window.
    Help please!

    its already solutionated!
    If there is anybody interested....
    The key is to run the setFormat(Format f) method with a Format f exactly obtained from the getSupportedFormats of the FormatControl.

  • Can I change the format of my iPod?

    Hi,
    I hope someone out there can help me this. When I got my iPod I had a PC so it was formatted to that. I now have a MacBook and I would like to change the format of my iPod from PC to Mac so that I can udate the iPod format. Is this possible and if so how do I do it?
    Cheers guys,
    Symmsie xx

    Try Senuti.
    It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
    As is Music Rescue.
    Both of these should work with a Windows formatted iPod because Macs can read and write to FAT32 formatted drives.
    After that you can reformat the iPod on your Mac as posted above.
    And welcome to the world of Macs. As a switcher myself some years ago, I can tell you you will not be disappointed.

    Thanks for your reply. This video was recorded by my own professional camera, Sony PMW EX 3, two years back. But I am neither a professional cameraman nor an editor. I am just like a beginner in both.  I didnt have space in my storage device, so I just copied all my clips, thinking I can edit it latter, without recompressing or editing or whatever I should have done it at that point of time.  Now I need to edit it and use it in my profession. I am very upset.  Please help me in going step by step to get it in FCP X for editing.  Also I would like to know, do I need to buy the Compressor 4 for any reason. I dont mind in buying, if you think it is going to be useful for some reason.  Thank you very much in anticipation for any kind of proper guidance.

  • How do I change the format of my workspace it is limited to vertical only?

    how do I change the format of my workspace it is limited to vertical only?

    You really need to be more specific and use terminology from the program. There is no panel called the "edit window." And I can't begin to guess what you mean by "the complete window needed for full video screen." As Steven suggested, a screenshot could really help.
    If you're basically asking how to rearrange the layout of the panels, you can do that by mousing over the divider between any two panels and then clicking and dragging side-to-side or up-and-down.
