Changing the image shape of an FCP output

Hey there,
I'm using FCP HD with OS10.4 on a Powermac g5. I generally just work with dv footage.
I want to output a media file that has specific ratio/ dimensions (proportional to 288 pixels wide and 1, 520 pixels high, ie, an unpended rectangle). These have to be the actual dimension of the file/ image, rather than the shape of the image if cropped inside a standard ratio.
How do I control the output ratio/ dimensions? Is this something you can set? I can only see the PAL/ntsc etc ratios... anyone out there help?
Many thanks!
Best
Richard

Not a totally stupid question...I'd assume you have a reason for doing this...
Provided you understand what this is going to do to your image...you would do the following:
File / Export / Using Quicktime Conversion
Format - Quicktime Movie (unless you require some other format)
Click on 'Option' button and click on the 'Settings button in the Video section. You can designate a type of compression...Video, Animation, TGA, DV-NTSC...etc.
Click OK, then click on the 'Size' button in the video section.
Click the Dimensions button and choose Custom at bottom, then type in your 288x1520. You would now choose to select Preserve Aspect ratio using - Letterbox, Crop or Fit within dimensions.
Click OK, OK, name the file and hit save.
Tada...hopefully the image you're working with will look good, either very small or very squeezed...depending on your choice of aspect ratio...and how it's to be presented.

• How do I change the image title when it is uploaded from iphoto to iweb. At the moment the image title is /shapeimage_1.png and I would like to put in something more relevant than just shapeimage?

How do I change the image title when it is uploaded from iphoto to iweb. At the moment the image title is /shapeimage_2.png and I would like to put in something more relevant than just shapeimage_2?

When you drag images from iPhoto to iWeb, iWeb retains the original filename.
When you use a mask, iWeb creates a png file with the shapeimage name.
So do not use a mask and crop your images before dropping them on the iWeb canvas.
When you use an irregularly shaped mask, then png files are created. They have to be png because of the transparency of the shape.
You can use a 3rd party application to create the png images yourself, and give them a proper name.
Or use the published png files, rename them and drop them back onto the iWeb canvas, while first removing the previous images.

• Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture?

Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture? We shoot with two photographers and so the img numbers are not in order but I would like to have the photos in chronological order on the disc when I give it to them. Does anyone know how to do this? I have them all in order ready to go in Aperture but when I move them to the disc to be burned they default back to the img number order. Thanks for your help!

What do you mean by "image number"? The file names like "IMG_7822.CR2" or "IMG_7822.jpg"?
You can create custom names with appended numbers, when you export your image files to be saved on a disk.
Sort your images by date in the browser, select them, then use the command "File > Export > Version" to write the files to the disk. Set the name format to "Custem Name with Index" or "Custom Name with Counter" to create numbered names in your current sort order.

• Is there a way to change the master text length in FCP? The default length is 10 seconds, which is too long. I can easily adjust the length but I don't want to do it each time, and I don't want to adjust one and then have to copy and paste this length.

Ideally, there should be something in User Preferences but there is not. Thanks.

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project. And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip. Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad." When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

• How to change the images dynamically in a table.

Hai,
How to change the images dynamically in a table based on the condition in webdynpro abap.
Edited by: Ravi.Seela on Oct 13, 2011 2:17 PM

This has been much discussed earlier. Do search posts.
For your scenario i would do the following.
inside your node which is binded to the table, i create a new node image with cardinality 1 ..1 and a attribute called path of type string.
create a supply function for the node image .
Supply method now has a Element (Parent element ) and node.
Based on your record in element, set the right image source to path attribute and bind the node.
This will make sure that the framework calls the image supply function for every row in a table.

• How to change the image of the favourtie portlet

Can anyone tell me how can I change the image of the favourite
portlet ? I found that I can only change the title text but not
the image. Any clue ?
Thanks.
-Maggie

This is a hard coded image in the 3.0.x releases of Portal.
If you want to change it, the only way you can do it today is to
replace the ml_us.gif file which you will find in
$ORACLE_HOME/portal30/images
This is the image for the US language, there will be one for
each language installed. e.g. ml_f.gif for French.
If you replace that gif file with an image of your own using the
same file name, then yours will be rendered rather than the
default.

Substitution strings are meant to be static, like global constants.
If you need some variable stuff, use application level items and set them using Application level computations/processes

• How to change the maximum frame rate of the camera by changing the image size?

I have two acA2040-180km cameras which are connected to 2 NI PCIe-1433 framegrabbers, I am monitoring my cameras by LabView, maximum allowable frame rate is about 187 for full resolution images, but I just need a small fraction of the images, I know if I make the images smaller, FPS will get higher, but it isn't possible by changing the image size in NI MAX, I've also tried to change the size by defining the region of interest in the grab setup.vi, but it would be after going to camera so it isn't the case as well, so I need a VI to go to the camera before starting to take photo and define the region of interest which is going to be captured, would you please help me to find it?
Please help me, this problem get me stuck!!!

Have you tried changing the image size using property nodes as Bruce suggested? Do remember with Basler cameras, reducing the width only will not affect the transfer speed but the reducing the height will. Have a look at the frame calculator to understand what you frame rates you can acheive with certain settings:

• How can i make a photo that is 10 x 6.6 to 10 x 8 without changing the image in Photoshop CS3?

How can I make a photo that is 10 x 6.6 to 10 x 8 without changing the image in Photoshop CS3?

I could be snarky and say change the image in a different version of Photoshop, but NO...
The only way to make a photo that is one size into another size is to change the image. You have a few choices about how to change it:
One way is to simply expand the height from 6.6 to 8 inches using Image>Canvas Size, using the default setting of having the image centered and leaving the background either black or white, your preference. This will add background color to the top and bottom of your image. This won't change the image itself, but it will change its surroundings.
Another way is to resize the image using Image>Image Size, entering the new dimensions after turning off the aspect ratio lock (resample on). This will stretch the image vertically, however, so it's probably not a good option.
Finally, you could resize the image using Image>Image Size, leaving the aspect ratio lock on and resample on, and increase the height from 6.6 to 8. This will have the secondary effect of enlarging the width from 10" to a greater width. Then you crop the resulting image back down to 10" width, which involves losing some edge areas of the image.

• In A2500, how to change the Image Size?

I have an A2500 camera. The images are great, but they're huge (1.5mb each) and fill up my memory card way too quickly. How can I use the camera's menu settings so images are stored in a smaller size?

Hi TravelMark!
Thanks for posting!
To change the image size, please press the <FUNC/SET> button. select the [L], then change that to [M1] or [M2].

• How do I change the image selected for the finalized movies pane in all events?

How do I change the image selected for the finalized movies pane in all events? I made a movie some time ago in iMovie, and a still from this now appears as the image for Finalized Movies in the All Events pane (as well as showing up if I then click on this pane to take me to Finalized Movies). Anyone know how to change or delete this image, please?

Unfortunately, the suggested solution in that thread does not work and the thread appears to be closed to replies. That is, even though I am logged in the Reply|Quote|Mark as answer|Report as abuse items are missing.
The suggested solution is:
First, I found I had "img100.png" in C:\Windows\Web\Screen and
C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-themeui-client_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16384_none_69ee3fa2269e545e
1. Belonging to the Administrators Group, I replaced file Owner TrustedInstaller with my Username on both "img100.png" files
2. After resizing the image I wanted to see on the Login screen to the resolution of "img100.png" file,
I copied and pasted it to both "img100.png" files keeping this way the format (extension) and resolution of the original "img100.png" file,
which I permanently deleted.
However, I have not been able to replace the img100.pgn in C:\Windows\Web\Screen even after taking ownership of it and setting the permissions for my userid to All. I edit it with mspaint and then try to save it. The save starts that then says the
save was interrupted.
The appears to be some additional protection besides the standard acls.

• Is Retina Display Algorithm Changing the Images at the Same Size?

Hi. If the Retina Display has a denser pixerl per inch count, shouldn't it be making images smaller as you would in an iMac i7 display or any non Retina display for example? Is the Retina display and the iOS themselves are changing the images themselves so that they don't become smaller? Would that mean, photos for example are not in their original state when you view it on the Retina Display with it's added details coz' it's the photos remain the same size only sharper? If you saved that on your iMac, does it mean it retains the changes the Retina Display made to it when it's on your desktop Mac or does it revert it to the original? Thanks in advance. Gbu.

No you are not wrong to be upset. Should Apple have given you the heads up, yes. Like you experience with Dell I had a similar experience with a phone a few years back, the store exchanged the one I purchased a short time later with the newly released device. The store employees are there to sell and we do live in a buyer be ware world for the most part. Truthfully the store employees might not have even known when the new model would be released. In general electronics are evolving extremely rapidly. Any "new" phone, tablet, computer type device today will be an "old model" tomorrow. While you feel you may have been mislead this is just a fact at this time. With that said...
While I have had iPods for years my first experience, and last, with an Apple store subsequent Apple's customer service was about 11-12 months ago when I got an iPad & iPhone. I have found them both to be substandard.
But look at what you have and take it for what is, a pretty sophisticated devise. the iPad you purchased is still a fine machine. By no means is it out dated. Use it enjoy it and don't look back. You'll drive yourself mad otherwise because there will always be a newer model tomorrow.
These forums a full of some very helpful people for the most part.
Best of luck.

• If you change the image mode of this image from 8-bit RGB image to Grayscale mode while in PSCS – what will the new Pixel Count be?

If you change the image mode of this image from 8-bit RGB image to Grayscale
mode while in PSCS – what will the new Pixel Count be?

If you mean by Pixel count the number of pixels, this will not change. The image will have the same size thus the same number of pixels.
