Changing the IP Address manually for Laserjet 2100TN

Hi there--
We recently updated all the IP addresses for our LAN to facilitate the set-up of a VPN. Due to problems arising from DHCP address assignment in the past, we maintain addresses manually on the network. Unfortunately this has led to a problem where our old 2100TN is now unreachable on the ethernet network and we are unable to change its IP address; ordinarily this would not be an issue as the Macintosh computers on the network can still find it via AppleTalk, but the PCs are unable to locate it. I tried running HP's network set-up wizard from a PC connected to the network the printer's on and was unable to locate it even when I searched for the printer's hardware address; this was also the case when I connected directly to the printer with an ethernet cable.
Is there any other way to reconfigure the printer's network settings without potentially disrupting our entire network again? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried changing the printer's IP address manually from one of the Macs that can see it?
I include a copy of a reply on a related subject, from the person on this forum whose user name is IronBadger. Some of it may be helpful. Thank him if it helps.
I am a Mac consultant in Chicago, familiar with the 2100TN.

IronBadger's helpful and informed post begins here:
Since Apple removed AppleTalk from 10.6 it may be slightly more complicated to connect your 5100.  But it is possible.
A lot depends on what your internet connection is.  Do you use wired or wireless ethernet to connect to the internet?  If you are using a wired connection your 5100 will need an IP address that matches your Macintosh.  This will involve using the printers control panel to manually assign a TCP/IP address that is in the same range as your Macintosh. Wireless instructions below.
If the Mac has an IP address of 169.254.12.54 and subnet mask as 255.255.0.0, change the IP of the printer to 169.254.12.55, change the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 and change the Gateway to match what is shown on  t he Mac.  If your Macintosh gets an IP address directly from your ISP (via DHCP) you may be required to obtain an additional address for the printer.
If you are using wireless (airport) to connect to the internet and just have the printer connected to the Macintosh with wired ethernet the information below should help you get connected.
I have copied a document below that discusses putting the printer on the same network as the Macintosh.
These are the instructions for manually configuring the IP Address on a Macintosh to match an AutoIP generated IP address on a printer.
When some HP LaserJet printers are connected to a network but there is not a DHCP or BOOTP server available it will generate an IP address in the AutoIP range of 169.254.x.x where the last two numbers are derived from the printer's MAC address.
To verify the printer's IP address print a configuration page.
If the printer configuration shows the IP in the Range of 169.254.X.X then the printer has typically self configured an IP address.
If the Macintosh is either not connected to the internet or is not using Built-in Ethernet for internet connectivity the IP address on the Macintosh can be configured to connect to the printer on a local network.
This can also be used to temporarily connect to a printer with no control panel and change its IP address.
Check the IP address on one of the computers on the local network:
1. Click on the Apple menu.
2. Select System Preferences.
3. Select the Network System Preference.
4. Click the TCP/IP tab, click the Configure IPv4 dropdown. and select “Manually.”
5. Change the IP address as mentioned in the following example.
• If the printer has an IP address of 169.254.12.54 and subnet mask as 255.255.0.0, change the IP of the computer to 169.254.12.55, change the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 and change the Gateway to 0.0.0.0.
Connectivity to the printer can be confirmed by:
Opening the embedded web server using a browser by typing http://<ip address of printer>.
Setting up a print queue for the printer using Print & Fax System Preference.

  • How do you change the email address associated with your apple id

how do you change the email address used for your apple Id I have tried going on managing apple Id and it isn't working

    Just where are you going?
and what do you see? A screen shot with personal info redacted would be great.
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

  • I need to change the MAC Address for Airport on MacBook

I have a specific need to change my son's Airport MAC address as his school requires the use of USB network cards that aren't compatible with MACs. These cards are needed because the school's router uses MAC address filtering.
Before we upgraded his Mac to Snow Leopard, we were able to change the MAC address to the MAC address of the useless dongal the school supplied. We basically created an AppleScript program that ran the "sudo ifconfig en1 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" and all was good.
This command no longer works for changing the MAC address. We tried it as root user as well and by typing it into the terminal window as root. After running the command, we can run "ifconfig en1" and it does display the new mac address but when we turn the airport on and try to connect, it just hangs and won't connect.
Our other non-Snow Leopard still works fine after running the commands so I'm guessing Apple disabled this functionality. It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac addres.
Is there a new way to accomplish this? I've searched everywhere.
    Thanks!

Would an easier solution be to provide the school's IT admin with your mac address and have it added? If they can add a block of mac addresses for the usb dongles, they can add more for machines that cannot use the dongle.
Also: "It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac address."
While it may not be a security issue for your machine, it is a security for the school network who is using mac address filtering as hopefully only one part of their wireless security.
That being said, have you read this?

  • I am trying to change the email address associated with my existing account to free up my university email address for use in obtaining Creative Cloud.

I am trying to change the email address associated with my existing account to free up my university email address for use in obtaining Creative Cloud.  Every time I go to the account settings of my existing account (which currently uses my university email, as I set it up years ago and had no idea it'd eventually cause problems), I enter a different email to use for that account but I continuously receive an error message saying "account changes cannot be saved."  It makes me think that it's because the email isn't verified (funny, it actually is verified since it has been the alternate email on the old account for years), but when I click the "send verification email" nothing happens (that is, no email is sent to that other email address).
Anyway, my university is now requiring that faculty create new accounts using our university email addresses in order to register/use Creative Cloud.  Am I able to delete my old account, or can anyone help me actually change the email address associated with my old account without getting a "changes can't be saved" error?

how do i change the email address for my icloud account on my 4s. when i sign in on line it is my new email address so i thought it would change automatically but obviously not!

Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then setup iCloud with your new ID.
You can't change the Apple ID for your iCloud account, you have to delete it.

  • I created an Apple ID for iTunes using a work email address and left that company before I had an opportunity to change the email and password for that account.  How do I change the email address to a new one that I can access?

I created an Apple ID for iTunes using a work email address and left that company before I had an opportunity to change the email and password for that same account.  Now I can't seem to login to that account and I can't choose the option for forgot password because it will send email to the old workplace.  How do I change the email address to a new one that I can access?

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
    2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

  • How can i change the email address for apple id and icloud?, how can i change the email address for apple id and icloud?

i had to change the email address to my apple id. now when ever i try to use imessage or the icloud, it wont let me because it is using the old email address. i cant change it on my phone and idk what to do on my computer!

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    Hello,
My old emails address which I have used as my apple id for 10 years is being made redundant. I have changed the email address to a new gmail one and this is my new apple id. But my iMac has not recognised this. It keeps saying it wants the password for my old email address. I have seen some advice on these forums which suggest signing out of iCloud and then back in again. But when I start doing this it asks me if i want all the photos deleted that have not been downloaded onto the mac.
I have had an iCloud account for quite sometime and I'm afraid of losing everything in my cloud if i sign out and sign in with a new id.
    Is this fear realistic?
I know I can change back to my old email, sign out and then sign in wight he new one...
    Please help!

This did not work for me.  My old email account for iCloud still pops up on my screen every time I open my macbook.  I've deleted it, reset it, every thing I can think of and it still shows up.  I think six months of this is more than enough time to wait.
