Changing the SMS tone?

Why is there not an option to change the tone of the SMS or you've got mail tone??? Will there be a download for this soon???

Kody. If you have software version 1.1.1 installed, just go to Settings - Sounds - New Text Message.
You'll find 6 tones. The volume of these tones is variable, but always the same as your ringer volume.

Unfortunately, so far as I am aware you cannot change this tone. I must admit I don't fully understand your problem, I've tried it myself and can hear it from some distance away.

I see there is an option to turn the text message settings for a particular contact to 'none'. Is there a way to change the ring tone to 'none' or 'silent' for only one contact. This is a person who calls way too often and I used to turn their ringer to 'none' when I had a blackberry. This way I can talk to this person when it is convenient for me and not have to listen to the ringer everytime they call.

You need to sync a silent ringtone to your phone & then assign it to that contact. Here's one already made:

I have a 4s updated to iOS6 and I cannot change the mail tone. It is stuck.

Try deleting the app and redownloading by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Does ios 5.1 fix the sms tone bug?

Does updating the iphone to ios 5.1 solve the sms bug in which the sms tone repeated itself as if it were stammering?

I did not have this bug before the update and after.
Try do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

I experience the same problem and it's extremely annoying. Have you found a solution yet?
Of course one might want to keep the earphones plugged in most of the time (if this is the way you prefer to answer you calls + talk on the phone) even if you're not using the phone/earphones. The ringtone does come through to to the speaker when someone calls… yet the sms signal DOES NOT and only plays in the earphones.
This means that the earphones must be unplugged after every call and then plugged in again before every call in order not to miss any sms:es! (Talk about unsafe driving e.g.!)
It would seem to be such an obvious setting/option to include in the iPhones settings. Why has Apple has completely missed this!? .... or is there a solution?

OK, so I've upgraded to iOS 7, and really like the new selection of pingy noises you can set to accompany various events like new emails, new SMS messages etc.
Only I cannot seem to change the tone associated with a new SMS message. It was 'Robin Hood' under the previous iOS, and stubbornly remains that sound no matter how often I try to change it to one of the new tones.
Any ideas?

I know you already figured it out, but for anyone else who is still trying to do this on an old iOS I found a workaround as well-
Simply delete the current file of whichever sound you do not like, then replace it with your custom sound that you created, and rename that to the name of the deleted file. Use the same encoding and bitrate of course to avoid incompatibility problems, but iOS will play your sound from now on thinking it is one of the default sounds. Works perfectly!

Is there any way to change the boring low sound of the (new Email) tone to be something else? switched from my Black Berry to the new 3G (love it) but hate that I cant change the tone to be something I can actually hear.

No, currently there is no way to change anything besides the ringtone of phone calls. The only way is if you "jailbreak" the iPhone, but it is against the EULA agreement and will void the warranty on the device. Apple may or may not add this as a feature in the future, you can send them a email with the hyperlink below and hopefully they will actually listen to the user's feature requests.

How to change the Busy tone of WIC-2FXS in 2610

My local FXS card is connected to my office PBX CO port. When a far end caller disconnects a VoIP session, my local FXS generates a very strange tone to my PBX so that the AA of my PBX cannot detect such busy tone and hence cannot drop the call. The strange tone is very different from the normal busy tone from PSTN.
Anyone can teach me how to change the FXS busy tone when a VoIP session is disconnected.

Configure the voice port for the local territory's call progress tone setting. The call progress tone setting determines the settings for dialtone, busytone, and ringback tone.
The default for this command is northamerica. For a list of supported countries
router(config-voiceport)# cptone country

Changing the alarm tone

Hello. I am using the smartphone Sony Xperia L and I have been having troubles with changing my alarm tone. Once I go to the "alarm sound" option and click on it, I can choose between all the tones the phone already provides me but not a song from my own gallery. I have looked it up and I have found that there is supposed to be a note on the top right, which takes you to the gallery. It used to be like that on my phone too but after a few software updates, it doesn't exist there anymore. Could someone help me find a way to choose a song from my gallery as my alarm tone? If you are missing the note when you are picking ringtones I suggest that you go to settings > apps > all > media storage > clear defaults. Restart your phone and try again.

There is no option to change the background color in the messages app, other than selecting settings>general>accessibility>invert colors, but this changes the colors of everything.

In Mavericks (where you posted) > Messages App > Preferences > General Section you can set the Messages Received sound.
In Mavericks this is a sounds from the App or the System Alerts or Sounds from ~/Library/Sounds.
In Yosomite (what you say you have) you now have iOS sounds listed and these are Alerts or Ringtones on an iPhone.
Not since Mountain Lion have you been able to set specific sounds to specific actions or even specific Buddies.
