Changing the system Name after Installing EP

Hi All,
I need to change the system name of the server and the IP address of the server after EP is installed. Is it possible to do this? Will the EP work properly?
Regards
Arun

Hi Arun,
There is many reference in the config of the portal to the server name.
I doubt you will be able to do it without difficulties.
If you use KM, you will have trouble with internal links in documents. We had to install an apache server for redirection when we migrated/upgraded from EP6 SP2 to 2004s, because the server's name changed.
Also, you will need to reinstall the local edit activeX to your users.
I hope someone can answer you better than me.
There always the system copy option.
Brad

  • Probem after changing the system name of EP 6.0 SP9

    Hi,
I have changed the system name of the EP 6.0 SP9 system and restarted it and after I again shifted back to the old system name and restarted the system.
Now the j2ee engine is not coming up ...
I am placing the developer trace.
Pl. suggest what might have went wrong.
    Thanks & Regards

    Dear Ashutosh,
Thanks for guiding us to correct location.
What we identified is we connected portal to the LDAP
of EP 5.0 while migrating the content. After migration we
    have formatted the 5.0 system.
Now that portal is connected to that LDAP which is
not existing the problem is coming.
Is there any way through CONFIGURATION tool I can remove
    that connectivity to LDAP?
I am trying to configure LDAP again on the same server
but before to that if some one can hint me how to
remove the LDAP configuration from the Portal I would
    be very much thankful..
    regards

  • Change logical system names after system copy

    Hi!
We successfully installed SAP ECC 6.0 system as system copy.
All the logical system names of old system have been copied to new system.
    Question
What is the approach to change the logical system names for new SAP system?
    a) just via tcode SCC4
    b) via BDLS
    c) other tcodes, reports
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Jürgen

    Hi,
Go though the system copy guide.
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    After system copy,
If you need to change logical system names in the system that results from the copy, change the logical system names as described in SAP Notes 103228 and 544509.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/103228
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/544509
Before running BDLS to change the logical system name, you have to define the correct logical system name in the new copied system. in tcode BD54.
    - while running BDLS, execute in background.
    Regards,
    Debasis.

  • How to change (NT)Domain Name after installed ERP?

    Hello,
We are planning to change (NT) Domain Name on environment of already installed ERP/BW(WAS 6.40)/SRM/SolMan(NW 7.0).
We know SAP recommend that customer should be Re-install or System-copy SAP-System if the Domain name is changed after installed systems.
However, we do not have enough time and budget for doing that.
    Questions:
1). If the (NT) Domain name will be changed, we only need to change the
OS users of service for SAP-System?
(I think that it is needed to change only OS-users of SAP-service. Is there other setting for that?)
2). The method of only changing users of SAP-service is not supported in this case?
(The customer will be not taken the SAP-Official support after doing that?)

    Dear
Changing domain name is not supported by SAP if done in a productive environment (after systems have gone live).
You will probably not get support by SAP after you change the domain name once system is live.
There are a bunch of changes you will need to perform as well.
The domain name is probably existing in the RFC's and you cannot change all of those through SM59.
You will need to update those entries at Oracle level.
    SAP parameters containing domain name
Java environment where domain name is contained
    Reset hostname buffer
    Service marketplace
    SAP Logon
    STMS
Monitoring perhaps, non SAP job scheduling
    Please reward points accordingly
    Kind regards
    Tom

  • How to transfer a module between systems and change the system name?

    Hello,
I would like to transfer a module I've built from one server to another, my questions are:
    1. What will be the best way to do it?
    2. The 2nd Server contains a System with the same queries but the system has a different alias. Suppose I don't want to add to the system and the 2nd server the alias from the 1st system, is it possible to change the system in the module queries once it has been compiled and deployed?
    Roy

    Hi,
    1) You can use the export/import features of VC to transfer models.
    2) The requirement is not clear. I guess your alias name is different in the second system and you want the imported model to work fine with the current alias in second system.
To change the alias, goto Menu Tools ->Alias manager, select your system and replace it with the new alias. Then compile and deploy it.
    Hope it helps

  • Changing the system password after a node is defined in the Maintenance Wiz

The system password has changed since the project started and I do not know the steps to make the change in the tool to the new password. The new password works fine in EBS command line stuff but the tool won't work because of the old password.
    Any help would be great!!
Thanks in advanced for you help!!
    David B

You'll have to go into the Define Nodes form, and edit the Database Node for your project.
Change the password there, and then Configure Nodes again (using the button).
Doing this will force you to re-run step 1 of the Configuration Category, which should re-propogate that change to everywhere.

  • Changing the Reel Name after capture

It appears that you can change a clip's assigned Reel Name by editing the clip's Reel attribute in the FCE browser. (If you change the Reel attribute value, you get a warning that it will modify the file on disk.)
Is there any other way (or utility) to view or edit a clip's assigned Reel name other than via the FCE Browser? I have not found any way to do it in QT Player, QT Pro, GetInfo or any other means.

Not that I know of. Maybe CatDV or something like that.

  • Changing the lokal Grouppolicy after installing ZCM Agent

Befor installing the ZCM Agent, we configure the lokal grouppolicy with some settings.
These settings will be applied even if the ZCM Agent will be installed to the machine.
But how can I change settings in these grouppolicys afterwards (without overwriting the settings in a ZCM managed grouppolicy)?
Where are they stored and how can I deliver new settings to this set?
(Under ZFD7 I put the new lokal GP to %*WinSysDir%\GroupPolicy.WMOriginal2 and delete
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\Workstation Manager\Group Policies\User and
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\Workstation Manager\Group Policies\Workstation
to get new lokal grouppolicy settings merged to the ZFD managed GP's.)

    Frank,
i deploy LGPOs via Bundle 'Text File' action and apply_lgpo_delta.exe. You could also use importregpol.exe with the .pol Files.
Use a dummy GPO in a Windows Domain to produce registry.pol and GptTmpl.inf Files and to track Changes.

  • "Conversion of Source System names after the transport" : O

    Experts:
    Environment : BI 7.0 and SP 12
<b>Tranports related to transformation rules are failing with inactive status...</b>
Further investigation on this, I have noticed that in our QA system, where "Conversion of Source System names after the transport" : O screen, we have columns
Original Source System, Target Source System, 7.0, Description(I guess, since no name is found)
Everything looks fine to me with reference to actual techinical names of source/target system...
My question there is a check box on column "7.0", which is UNCHECKED. Is this correct?
My understanding is that, this check box needs to be CHECKED, since this is related " Only Valid for RSDS, TRFN and DTPA Objects ". Is this correct?
If yes, Can I check this box in QA system, save and retransport my requests. If so, what happens to standard BW objects i.e., transfer ruels, update rules etc...
OR do i need to create another entry with same source/target system and check the 7.0 box.
OR do i need to create 3 entries with same source/target system and check 7.0 box for each entry i.e., RSDS, TRFN, DTPA.
Finally, please advise the exact steps that need to be taken here...pros and cons
Your inputs will be of great help....
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Yes you need to check the checkbox as it is related to Data sources and transformation and DTPs. you can mark the check box if  your client is modifiable, if not you need to transport the setting from DEV. Go to
SPRO > Business Intelligence>Transport Settings--> Change Source system name after transport.
you also need to maintain the Source system IDs .
    Hope it helps.

  • Can the system name of the Fabric Interconnects be changed

I need to change the system name of the Fabric interconnects
    I have given eg. EDCD
    the FI now have EDCD-A
    EDCD-B
I need to change it to ... ECCD-A
    ECCD-B..
    is it possible ?

    Shyam,
You can definitely do it and for sure is not disruptive and take effect right away.    Just go to the Admin tab> All> Management Interfaces> Name > Edit it with what you need > Apply.
It is so easy and fast that if at the same time you have an SSH session, as soon as you change the name, the system makes the change on your SSH session too.
Note: There is no need to look for the way to do this on each fabric. The name you are changing is for both FIs and the system will then add the xya-A or xya-B by itself.

  • Changing the computer name in SAP R/3

Computer Name of the SAP R/3 server has been changed after the full installation of Oracle 9i and SAP R/3.
How to change the computer name after the SAP R/3 can start-up sucessfully?

    Hi
it is not possible after installing R/3, you cannot change the host name , as per my understanding because when you install it generates a solution manager key based on host name SID and instance number.

  • Changing DNS zone names after the fact

Over 3 months ago we started setting up our server network. After discussions with administration it was determined (at the time) that we would use and register a domain name with a .net extension. So we set up a primary server with this extension and had it registered with our ISP. We subsequently added 7 other servers to the mix and as they were installed they grabbed their names from the DNS zone we had setup *.net in our DNS zone in our primary nameserver system. It was all well the tests worked we had it all going and are moving our 130 machines (including about 60 users) over next few months (and have moved about 10 users and other machines so far.
My question is this. Back in beginning a *.org was the other option but we had problems with it and our ISP (could have been some error on our part) so we went with *.net for our domain and got that registered. Now all of a sudden as our management is wanting to move the organizational website (we are not doing that) to another service that service is tying to convince them we should have not used *.net but *.org.
The person in charge of us is strongly asking if we can go back and setup with *.org but as I understand it I cannot go in and delete my *.net DNS zone and then rename all the servers with a .org extension but as we understand it from lynda.com and other sources it appears that we probably would have to go back and reset all the machines back up by reinstalling them after I changed the first primary nameserver. And then register the new name and wait for it to propagate?
Are we wrong? Can we just go in and turn off the DNS in server admin and then change the zone name(s) to *.org and the host names of each server from *.net to *.org and restart DNS and find all to be well? As much as we can tell it appears that we would have to restart from scratch as all the documents and lynda.com imply we should have had our final domain name set and registered before we started to install and setup the primary and secondary servers?
I see some examples where it is said to make such changes something needs to be done with ipconfig and not the GUI in server admin. But again I am not sure that this will work with our primary nameserver and the 7 servers under it?
Any feedback or help about this would be appreciated. It is our preference to stay with *.net and not have to do major work as we are starting user and network migration to the new servers and hate to have have such a major setback just because one person and the web design service they want to use does not like *.net. to us it appears the horse is long out of the barn and when this was approved last fall we have gone to far to easily go back. But if it is easier to go back than we think then we are willing to try to change.
    Thanks

    foilpan wrote:
first, what are these servers doing? are they all web servers, OD masters, simple file servers? depending on their roles, changing their names can be more or less of a problem.
The first server we set (the name server) does incoming mail, is the DNS server for local net and such. Then there is the outgoing mail server (one of 7) a web server (another of 7) and then the rest are mostly file servers for our setup.
second, work out that political stuff before making any changes. if everything's working fine as is, make a strong case for leaving things alone. if possible, estimate support costs for changing everything and troubleshooting, then see if management can justify it.
Sort of my feeling. We thought we had it all worked out but then they decided to abandon the old web site (managed by someone else but associated with the old mail/network somewhat) and have a new Web design company do it and this company complained about us having chose a .net for what reason I do not know so the administrator somehow was persuaded and had no idea of the can of worms she had opened up by changing her mind. If it is too much of a hassle and it appears so in terms of delays to move rest of organization over then I hope we can convince them.
are all these servers public facing or behind a firewall?
They are behind a firewall on a high speed cable modem ISP service (firewall is local ASTARO machine).
also, why not setup another dns zone for .org and point to the same hosts? that would allow you to use either .net or .org, for the most part. again, that depends on what these servers are doing.
We suggested that but the administrator did not like having two names we have a lot of users (volunteers and such) who are not really too savvy (the nature of free and partime help I guess) and she feels they will be confused by two extensions for network, mail and web. It sure does not bother me (I have about 8 email addresses for example now .
post more details without the political background and what the end result should be, and we'll be able to add more here.
Ok basically we want to know with the following:
    1) main nameserver (the first server that provides the DNS zone for local *.net and serves the incoming mail)
    2) A second outgoing SMTP server to split load and do outgoing work...
    3) A third webserver doing all the web services (blog, wicki, and such)
    4) 4 file servers that are going to provide a local file server for our 4 main departments
    5) A final test server we are testing other things with-- so total of 8 servers.
    6) 8 Users out of 60 now on the network with their personal desktops or laptop machines, and a few printers and other devices all on new network.
There are a total of 130 macs and pc's in our organization that will all eventually be on this new network with the above.
Basically we are wondering if the main (first) DNS and incoming mail sever, and the 7 other (web, SMTP out, and file server machines) will have to be set back up from reinstall if we are to make the change from the *.net zone we have now to a *.org one?
Any other details that would be of help?
    Thanks

  • What's Impact of changing the customer Name(along with Bill To and Ship To) at the header level after book

    Dear All,
    Revision: 11.5.10.2
We have a case where some of the orders we have created have incorrect customer name along with incorrect Bill To Ship To.
All these orders are booked. And their Line Status is either Awaiting Shipping or Supply Eligible.
What Impact of changing the customer Name(along with Bill To and Ship To) at the header level.
    Thanks,
    Helen

    Hi Helen-Oracle
As said above there should not be an impact if the warehouse on the order before and after changing the customer, ship to and bill to remains same.
Additionally, if the item on-hand qty is sufficient to reserve the item and there is no B2B internal requisition kicked off.
As long as the above conditions are fine, I don't see any impact of changing the customer, bill to and ship to.
Also, you can run a complete wing to wing cycle in case you really want to test the behavior of the system in such scenario.
Please feel free to mark the response as helpful or correct if you think it is helpful and to help people easily find help and answered responses.
