Changing title lengths in iMovie on iPad

How do I change the length of titles added to clips in iMovie on iPad?

Dangit... I was actually hoping I was wrong! lol
I'd like to find a way to do this.  After using iMovie (just got my iPad 4 days ago) and ReelDirector, I can say iMovie needs some serious updating to be any kind of feasible video editor / authoring solution.

  • Changing photo length in iMovie '08

I'm trying to make a presentation with photos set to music. I want one photo to play the entire length of one song, but whenever they only last four seconds. Whenever i try ot change the length it goes to 1 second. How do i make the photo last an entire song length

I would suggest you go to iMovie/Preferences and see how your preference is set for Time.
You can do hh:mm:ss:frames (which gives you most control. You can edit to the frame level)
Or you can select hh:mm:ss:tenths. A tenth of a second is about 3 frames so you have less control.
Once you know how you have it set, if you want to do five minutes for your photo, you would use 5:00:00 if you are using frames. You would use 5:00.0 if you are using tenths.
Note: There are 30 frames per second in the US. In Europe or a country that uses PAL, there are 25 frames per second.

  • How to change title fade in imovie

  • Preset title length

Is there anyway to preset the title length in iMovie 08?
Every time I add a title it is between 3 and 5 minutes long. Can't I set the length before I add it?
    Thanks

I think you mean 3 to 5 seconds, however:-
It's impractical to set a default title duration for a number of reasons, one being that different titles take different times to read. I'm not sure whether im08 tries to adjust the title duration for a particular situation but adjusting the duration of a title manually once it is added is just something you need to do.

  • Why does iMovie for iPad shorten the background song length after adding a photo?

Why does iMovie for iPad shorten the background song length after adding a photo?
I created a project a few months ago, and iMovie worked as it always had. I would create a project, add a background song, then add photos to fill up the song.
When I created a project today, I added the background song (4m9s), then added a single photo, and the background song length was shortened to 6 seconds. I have never seen the app work this way. I know I can extend the photo to the length of the background song, but it used to be so much easier to add photos and sync them with the music as I desi
    I'm using iPad2 with iMovie v1.4.1.
    Thoughts?

When I've added photos to a project they are added to a default time to appear. Honestly I've never looked at the time but 6 seconds sounds close. I'm guessing that since you added the photo after you add the music that its thinking you want the two to match in time length so it tunicates the music. Try adding the photo first then add the music. Good luck!

  • I can't change the length of an cross dissolve in iMovie

I can't change the length of a cross dissolve in iMovie 10.0.1
I do the right things but 1.0 second stays 1.0 second
Who has the solution of this problem?

»Pass Through« indicates that Adjustment Layers will affect lower Layers outside the Group and that contained Layers with different Blend Modes will affect Blending with underlying Layers outside the Group accordingly.
If you change it to Normal or any of the other Blend Modes everything contained within the Group will basically act as one flattened Layer and Adjustments only affect the Group’s pixel content.
Could you post a screenshot of the document with the Solid Color Layer’s Color Picker and the Layers Panel visible?

  • When using imovie for Ipad, how can I fast forward a project to cut the length down?

When using imovie for Ipad, how can I fast forward a project to cut the length down to fit under the 15 minutes required for Youtube? My current project is 23 minutes, and need to cut it down below 15 minutes. I was hoping to speed up the video. The content would actually be better viewed in at a faster speed anyhow.

    Jon,
It sounds like you did, just as you should, Save_As and Delete everything that is unwanted. If you did the Deletion from the Timeline, there should be nothing from the old Project, that should be included. A DVD is Transcoded and burned from the Timeline. If the Assets are not there, they will not included in the DVD, even if you did not Delete anything from the Project Panel.
Tell us about the Clips now on your Timeline. Also, can you check the Timeline, by hitting the \ (Backslash key), and looking near the end of the Timeline. Do you have any "orphans" out there? Check all Video Tracks, even if you have to scroll to see them all. Does the Duration of the Timeline (viewed in the Program Monitor) match what you think that it should? If not, then you most likely have orphans, that you missed Deleteing.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Adusting Title Length

I'm stumped...I can adjust the title length as long as I have a clip in the project window but then I am as yet unable to move the beginning of the clip to the end of the adjusted title. If I try to adjust the title length before I put the clip into the project window IMovie will not change the title length.
    What am I missing?

I've got it fixed. I don't know exactly why buy during my efforts to lengthen the title clip there were some 2s incremental changes that were made to the original 29s title clip. These changes evidently blocked me from making the change I was going for. By putting the title length back to the original 20s I was then able to adjust the proper length.
    Thanks

  • I go to "clip adjustments" and change the length of a photo. It reverts back to original length. I also shorten it by moving the yellow "box" around a specific clip. It still reverts back to original length. Why?

  • Imovie on ipad locations

In iMovie on ipad, when I want to add a title, it includes a location label. How do I get rid of the location label?

iMovie Mac and iMovie iOS are not the same.
There is some confusion here, but they are not compatible as far as projects go.
You can only transfer iOS projects, not Desktop to iOS or vise-versa.
If you are trying to share a video then it's a bit hit and miss if it will work.
I have found encoding video in the same format as the video taken with my iPhone is able to be edited in iMovie iOS.
But essentially iMovie iOS is really only a quick simple editor for video shot on your device.
Apple does have an iapp return policy if you bought it but can't use it.

  • FCP X changes title font style from regular to italics

I use a regular font style in the titles of my iMovie 11 projects, but when importing to FCP X, the titles are converted to italics.  But there is at least one exception: rolling credits don't get changed.
Mac OS X 10.6.8, MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM

Almost a fantastic post. I'm in your boat here.. but... there are some people can make a living with what FCPX offers.
You can still be a professional without needing the features that most of us broadcast/film professionals need.
FCPX is a fantastic program for some people... for others a stab in the back.
Whereas FCP7 worked for everyone - we had the choice. Now we don't.

  • Themes not working in imovie for ipad

Themes not loading for imovie for ipad.  I can use the themes in the Trailers, but not in creating a themed movie.  Please help!

So on the list it says Arial http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5484 which is a font from Apple, which is different from Microsoft, but are named the same...
Is there a list of Microsoft Fonts that will work with Pages?
Are you actually seeing a noticeable difference in the fonts after conversion? While there are some difference between those fonts, they are very subtle differences and in all likelihood will not really change the look of the document.

  • Batch Change Clip Lengths

Does anyone know how to batch change the length of clips in imovie 06. I have already imported all my pictures (about 300) and want to change their time length. I don't want to have to reimport them, so hoping I can just batch change them all. THANK YOU!!!!

Sure. Just select a clip and press command+A (or choose "Select All" from the edit menu). Click the "Show Photo Settings" button and adjust the duration slider.
Of course, there's a catch if you have unique pan and zoom settings for the various clips -- those unique settings will be lost, and all the clips will adopt the start and end (Ken Burns) settings of that first clip you selected. Of course, there's no problem if a) Ken Burns effects are not employed, and b) all clips are to be shown at the same zoom setting.

  • How to change the length of time calendar retains appointments

On my previous Blackberry running OS7, I was able to change the length of time the calendar kept appointments, but I can't find that setting on my Q10. I would like to be able to keep appointments on the calendar indefinitely. Thanks for any advice.

    Hello, metallifan15,
    Welcome to the discussions.
I think you are asking about the durations for subtitles. There is a maximum duration for titles, and that duration varies depending on which title you select. For just 'subtitle' it appears that the maximum duration is about 4secs20frames, 4:20. If you choose 'Stripe subtitle' the duration is about 8 seconds, 8:00.
If you want the durations to be longer, consider getting some of GeeThree's Slick volumes, some of whose titles can be placed for 30 seconds.

  • IMovie for iPad Photo Duration

Ok, this is driving me mad. I recently downloaded iMovie for iPad and am attempting to create a video consisting of photos and music. Each photo comes in with a duration of 4s and I would like to make each longer to, say, 6-8s. How? I don't want to spend countless hours clicking 75 photos and dragging them to near the desired length. Surely there's a way; if not, make one because this is a no brainer.

    Hi all
Found a really cool app called simpltransfer which allows you to transfer photos and video between iDevices!!
The app has a lite version (which allows you to transfer from within your 1st 50 files listed in your device's camera roll or photo library) for free download.
S now I can edit away on my iPad ... Soon to be uploaded to YouTube n Facebook for all my friends viewing pleasure!! LOL
More apps should have lite versions as trials!!! Too often I've paid the $1 or $2 only to be disappointed that the app does not live up to its claims ... Like 100 cameras in 1 for iPad.
Anyway .. Thanks for all the help!!
