Changing Track/Song Name on Archive File - How to?

I have about 50 songs named "Track #" that I want to rename including new Artist and Album information.
I got how to do this in iTunes (Get Info on the Name and enter Info), but I want to change the original file on the library outside of iTunes.
MY QUESTION, does editing the Info in iTunes change the original file (or how to I change the original file so it includes the new information?)?

I'm assuming you want to change the original file info to avoid confusion...
I think it depends on whether the other location allows you to change info. I think you would probably also be prompted if you shouldn't.
After you edit info in iTunes, say you add a song from your outside library that's already on iTunes...it won't be listed in the iTunes library as a duplicate, and doesn't change any info you've already edited in iTunes.
Editing info in iTunes hasn't changed the original file name in its other locations as far as I've seen.
You can see the original file name and location like this:
1. right-click the song
2. choose "Get Info"
3. click on the "Summary" tab
Look at the bottom where it says "Where".
That helped me a whole lot when I had duplicate songs in the outside library and the files had names like "track 02".

  • I used to be able to change track & artist names & other song info in "View" / "Info"; can no longer do

I used to be able to change track & artist names & other song info in "View" / "Info" (or Command I) but can no longer do. The info shows up "greyed". It seems to be on tracks from CDs I imported or downloaded from sources several years ago (pre Gracenotes).
Any suggestions on how to fix?
    Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue. I just downloaded new songs and I can't edit the information or artwork because they are all greyed out. I didn't have that problem until I upgraded to iTunes 11!

  • Use filename as track / song name

Is there an easy way to change each track (song) name in iTunes to the actual file name? I would prefer not to do it manualy or edit the metadata of the actual file. I saw some old scripts that claim to do this on OSX ( here: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=arttrackfilename ) but none for windows.

Hello again. I have a script called TagfromFilename that can be used to construct tag data from the filename and path although it is expecting the files to be in the format <Artist>\<Album>\## <Track>.<Ext>.  The script could be tweaked if you have set out the information differently. With the exception of .wav files howver, any updates to the iTunes version of the track data will be refelected in the tags.

  • How changing the song name?

Is it possible to change the names of the song in itunes?
The reason I want to do this is not because I am trying claim that the songs are by me. I just wana put "A","B","C"... in front of their names so they can be sorted the way I want

Click/Select/Highlight the song in iTunes. Then click the song name again. The name should become editable.
    Compared to...
Also, you can single click on the song, wait a second or two, then single click on the inofrmation you want to change. It is like a delayed double click.
You worded it better than me. I'm never quite sure how to explain that, but I like "delayed double click."

  • How do I change the Song Name syntax when Importing a CD?

I would like to have iTunes use the following Song Name syntax when I import a CD:
    Artist Name - Song Name
I cannot find where I can change this within iTunes preferences... Any advise or guidance would greatly be appreciated.
BTW, I am using iTunes 6.0.1.3...

If you are wondering how to change the title of the song I can help you.
    1. Right click on any song that you would like to name or rename
    2. Click on the option "Get Info"
    3. Once you've clicked, 5 options will appear on the top of the window, choose "Info"
4.Looking into the window now you will be able to change the name of the song and the artist.
I hope I answered your question

    Hi Roshan
    You get these :
    --> 'LSoO7S4PZnqOCHSy2fovgg==_20101215_104859_0060'
    --> 'vcT89qBcHx3hEyHGHWS6ow==_20101215_122241_0017'
This is because they are getting encrypted. You need to apply the latest 10.1.3.3.1 MLR # 19 in case you are on 10.1.3.3.0 patchset (or) 10.1.3.4 MLR # 9 in case you are on 10.1.3.4.0 patchset (or) 10.1.3.5.0 MLR # 2 in case you are on 10.1.3.5.0 patchset. • Changing MIDI song names

Song names cannot be changed for some MIDI songs with iTunes 7.1. This problem has existed since iTunes 6.0. When is Apple going to correct the problem?
Apparently they are interested in using iTunes only for the purpose of selling music.

Sounds like your song files are Read Only and/or you do not have Write permissions to them.

  • Unable to get Field Names from Archived File

    Hi All,
We have a ECC 6 Ehp4 system. When i retrieve Idocs archived using SARA, the data only contains application data. There is no field names available - eg: posting date, tax code etc. Please find below the background on this issue.
I configured archiving of process idocs (status 52,12,03) from EDIDC tables. I set up the settings for Archive Object IDOC and archived the data for 15 days.
Both archiving and deletion of data from the table was successful.
I tried reading the Idoc data from Archive File using the Information System option -> Info structure (available as default for Idoc).
But the data retrieved only shows the Application data for all the segments of the IDoc. The fields for the segments like Tax Code, Posting Date etc are not available in the data. Functional teams will not be able to make sense with just the application data.
Am I missing some setting? Is there any way to retrieve the related field values also ?
    Please help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raghavan

    Hi All,
There is tcode WE10. You could choose if the data source is archive and also the archive session. You will get the list of segments provided. click on the segment number and you will get the data.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Changing a document name opens the file

I was wondering if this was a new issue with Leopard... or just my mouse. In Tiger, if you needed to change the name of a file, or folder on the desktop... or anywhere, you could click, and it would highlight the words to change the name.
Now, if you click the first time, nothing happens, when clicking a second time, it either opens the folder, or launches the application. I don't particularly like this happening, especially when I'm just trying to change the file name.
I am using a MacAlly rfmousejr.

In my opinion, the behaviour in "Panther" and earlier was even better - you could click once on the file name, and shift the mouse pointer outside of the name area, and it would highlight. Unfortunately, Tiger made (more or less) two clicks necessary throughout the "Finder", probably to make the behaviour more consistent with "Column" view. Normally, I am in favour of GUI consistency, but unfortunately they settled on the worse convention, applying it to an area where the interaction is different enought that imposing consistency actually made things worse.
In Leopard, the issue doesn't appear entirely to be one of timing. Although it may be awkward, try selecting the icon first, then clicking the file name (I just tested this with the "double-click" setting set to the slowest). This almost never results in the file opening, whereas clicking twice (with the same delay between clicks) on the name did. Similarly, if the icon is selected by alternative means (marqueé selection, by typing the first few letters of the name, or using arrow keys), then clicking once on the item's name also activates the text field.

  • Changing the display name of project file folders for TOC

I'm interested in changing the display names of the project file folders for my TOC. For example, I want to name the folder "01-intro" so that it is short and lowercase. But I'd like the TOC to say "Introduction to the System." I know I can manually rename the folder in the TOC either through its properties or by right-clicking => Rename, but I auto-create the TOC occasionally and I don't want to have to rename every folder every single time.
Does anyone know if there is a way to set a persistent property for the folder so that its display name in the TOC is different? I am using RoboHelp 9. I saw an option called "Detail" in the properties of the WebHelp layout in RoboHelp 8 that seems like it may have done that, but I no longer see this property in RoboHelp 9.
Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I think the lack of response confirms that if you are going to use Auto Create, you have to accept the way it is.

  • Change the storage server of archiving files

    Hello Gurus,
I have archiving files in iseries storage, but because the disks in iseries servers is very expensive i want to change the storage server to Intel server with Win2003 or Linux S.O.
This change is posibble? i would appreciate your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Ernesto Castro.

    Hi,
With my understanding about accessing the archive data from the storage system, i can say that it is possible.
    1. First you should check with archive server vendors (such as opentext or Documentum) whether their application will support in this scenario.
    2. When you are relocating the archived data from one storage to another storage system then the link between the archived data and the physical path will be disconnected.
Solution: A. create a content repository of new location and assign this content repository to all the archiving objects that are affected.
    B. Delete the build Infostructure for the archiving objects and after assigning the new content repository build the infostructure again and try to access the archived data.
Hope this mail could help you.
    -Thanks,
    Ajay

  • I can no longer change my song names like i used to. i use to be able to right click and go to "get info" and then change the song name, artist and album, now i can't is there any other way to change the songs name and info

When I get songs and put them on my itunes accout on my computer I used to be able to rename them right clicking, going to "get info" and then renaming everything I wanted like song name, album and artwork. I also use to be able to click on the song then click and hold on it and be able to rename it. But all the songs I have gotten after the last update have not been able to be renamed in any of the old ways I use to be able to. Is there any other way to rename songs because I know I can't undo updates and that seems to be whats causing it.
    Thankyou for your time

I believe the Tab is just named according to the name of the folder you are in. I don't think there's any way to change that.

  • How I may change the encoding names for downloaded files?

I have some problem with encoding when I download files from russian sites. The downloaded files look like this "ìîé êàáèíåò - èíôîðìàöèÿ"

Firefox, as is, will only download the file. You can choose where the file is

    Go to the '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''''' {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for '''download managers.'''
Many of them give you a chance to change the file name.
