Changing Unix file attributes in target host

Hello,
I need to transmit a file from a SAP server to a target host in Unix.
Actually the transmission is OK. I'm using the SAPFTP program.
Now, my problem is that in the new file on the target system (in Unix) I need to change the file permissons to 777.
The FM FTP_COMMAND doesn't work because the command chmod is not available through ftp. If I use this, I receipt the message "502 SITE command is not implemented".
Somebody have another idea to change the Unix file attributes in a remote way from ABAP?

Hi experts,
we use host configuration with special host types. If we want to change only one attribute of the host with the cli we must change all attributes associates with the host. If we define only one new attribute all other values are set (back) to the default of the host type..
(in the gui all works fine...)

No, it is not possible to do that.
All attributes (passed via -attr) are treated as a single argument to the host modification (similar to a name or description). Essentially, when you provide a -attr argument to hdb.h.mod, the command will reset the existing overridden attributes and consider only the new attributes coming thorugh the -attr arg for overriding.
You see it working from the UI properly because, the UI requests for overriding all atributes once again, even though you manually changed only one attribute.

Change UNIX file permitions using ABAP

Hello,
I create a file using the open and close dataset statements and the file has the following permitions:
-rw-rw----
Now i whant to send the file using FTP to another server, but function module FTP_COPY return the error:
Permission denied
Is that possible to change the file permition on the file creation or after?

Yes , you can chnage, are you the owner of the file, then it can be done.
i can tell you the simple way to do that.

Same file name at Target with change in file extension

Hi,
I am working on File to File scenario. I need to create target file name similar to the source file name. This can be achieved by using ASMA. But my requirement is to change the file extension for the target file.
For example:
Source File u2013 InvoiceNotification.txtu2026.Then target file should create as
Target File - InvoiceNotification.csv
This can be achieved by using OS Command unix script in the receiver communication channel.
Is there any better way of doing this..say something like Dynamic Configuration or Variable substitution?

I think you are doing content conversion at the receiver side. Go ahead with ASMA, get the file name.

Target host changing domain

Quickie, I have a target host moving from one domain to another. I thought this was in the documentation, but it isn't.
So...I think all i need to do is:
1) emctl upload (clear all pending files)
2) stop agent
3) delete targets from grid (its only agent and host, no databases)
4) change the target server to new domain
5) edit targets.xml & emd.properties & lastupld.xml files and put in the new domain name
6) restart agent and pray
Have I missed anything?

Think that should work...although i've never done it. Let us know if it works for you.
I guess the worst-case scenario is to remove the agent i.e. uninstall and then reinstall the agent and let GC find it.

Which basis release do you use?
From 7.0 you have [GET DATASET|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPGET_DATASET.htm] statement
Before, you may only get what you see in AL11 : mimic what is in program RSWATCH0
Or you may register and use [UNIX commands (SM69 transaction / SXPG|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/fa/0971e1543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm]) and get the results

Changing File Attributes

I have a folder that was created in Windows XP and it was given the "hidden" option. I would like to remove the hidden attribute of this folder but am unable to find a way to do it in Finder. Can anyone offer instructions on how to change the hidden attribute?

is this file on a windows formatted drive? if so you can only do it from windows.

Fonts changed to Unix files when saved to a remote server

Hi all, I read an archived thread regarding this, but not sure if my situation is related somehow. The issues others have had was that their font files were converted to Unix files at 0KB, when stuffed.
My issue is I backed up fonts (PS and TT) from my Mac to a remote server (PC based). When that server is accessed by Mac users, some saw the file as a Unix file at 0KB. However, there were some (including myself) that saw the actual font file.
That was a few months ago, we've retired that server since, but before doing so I transferred all the fonts to a new server. It's now a raid drive run off a Mac Xserve. After the transfer, I checked to see if the fonts were still okay, and they were showing full Mac file (no Unix). I didn't go into the new server for a couple of months, but when I did I noticed that all the fonts had been changed to Unix files. Some were at 8KB, others at 60KB. But no 0KB files. +Note: because the initial transfers was a success, the original files from the old server were deleted along with it. So there is no way of retrieving the original files. As well, were were running 10.4.10 with the original server and files. Switched to 10.5.x when files were transferred to the new server.+
I've tried the tips here (using the Terminal method and the FileUtilsCM script) http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6041364 but to no avail. I'd hate to think these fonts are scrap. As they were all purchased (and there's a whole load of them). Any input in saving these files would be of great help.

The real font information is stored in a resource fork, not the data fork fo the file. Depending type type of file system you copied them to, how you copied them, and what method you are using to look at them, you may not be seeing the resource fork.
You can see more detail about files usng a Terminal command such as
ls -leaO@ file
If there is a resource fork, it will be displayed.
If the file system was not a Mac OS X external file system, then you might want to look for a file with a similar name only starting with a leading period to make it invisible to the Finder
ls -leaO@ /the/directory/with/your/fonts

The simplest way is with the chmod Terminal command.
Warning: unless you know exactly what you are doing, you are almost certain to break something with indiscriminate use of this command. Make sure at least your data files are backed up (& ideally in offline storage) before you experiment with this command, & note that you can mess things up enough that you will have to reinstall the OS to recover.

You should setup a secure anonymous ftp server..
Modern ftp daemons support all kinds of useful commands, such as chmod, that allow outsiders to undo your careful permission settings. They also have configuration options (WuFTP) to acheive this.
You should ask your FTP (wu-ftp)server admin to enable extention set.
Your windows client does not support a chmod command.
In such case, chmod via the quote command with your client should
support. Something like
ftp> quote site chmod yyy fileName
where "yyy" is the octal number for the permission

Font Files Changed to Unix Files

Hello all. I had backed up my fonts to an external drive. Recently my iMac's HD crashed and when I tried to reinstall my fonts, I noticed they are all Unix files with zero bytes! I can't get them to open, I tried adding the extensions they were before but nothing works. Any ideas? And how coudl this happen?

How to use FTP_COMMAND to put a file in the target system

I have the requirement to put an excel file from apllication server to another remote system for this i am using the function modules
1) FTP_CONNECT to connect to the sourece as well as the destination systems --- Here i am able to hit the both systems.
2) for sending the data to the target system i am using FTP_COMMAND by passing the 'put' statement along with the soruce and destinations for the command parameter.

Changing the File Name

Hi
i am designing a adobe form which will be send in mail when a button is clicked, i found that the attachment name to be "unknown.pdf". how can i change this ???
i found out a method called getAcrobatApplicationName() in XML and when i changed application name in that its not getting reflected. So is there any other way to change the file name on "Button Click" event?

Ora-12545 connect failed because target host does not exist(plsql develper)

I am using Oracle 10g version, and i am using plsql developer.
I am able to connect Oracle through sql*plus, But i am not able to connect Oracle through plsql developer from past few days, it is giving me error like:
ora-12545 connect failed because target host does not exist
I have not done any changes in setting though i am getting this problem, earlier i was able to work with plsql developer very good.

Changing LDAP "Search Attribute"

I am authenticating against LDAP as such:

I am using the user's first and last name to authenticate. Now, I want to use their login id to authenticate. I was told "to change the Search Attribute from 'uid' to 'sAMAccountName'". I don't know what this refers to. Does anybody have any ideas?

A call to Apple support helped solve this problem, especially to deal with a typo in the Apple Snow Leopard Server documentation:
1. Export all of your users, groups, etc. to files. Passwords will be reset but everything else will work.
2. In OD, change the server to be "stand alone" (basically turning off OD).
3. From the command line run the following command, noting that you literally put the string "HostName" in the position specified, not the old host name specified in the documentation:
sudo scutil --set HostName <fully qualified domain name>
4. Reboot
5. Restart Server Admin and recreate the OD master using the fully qualified name.
6. Go to KeyChain and look for the entries for system -> com.apple.opendirectory. One should point to your server and one should be blank. Delete the bank entry.
Done!
