Changing Validity Period of Profit Centers.

Hi Gurus,
First, I created a profit center with validity period 01/01/2008 to 12/31/9999. Later, I tried to truncate and activate the profit center with validity period 01/01/2008 to 12/31/2010. However, I get the following error
"A profit center scenario is active in new General Ledger Accounting
Message no. FAGL_LEDGER_CUST155"
What could be the problem? Any help is highly appreciated.

Change Validity Period of Cost centers ??

Hi,
Is it possible to change the validity period of cost centers ??, like in my case we are having validity period until 12/31/9999, so because of this even when some one blocks the cost centers they still appear in the F4 list of cost centers!!! used at many places to search for cost centers.
My requirement is to restrict the blocked cost centers from appearing in the search help list for cost centers.

Hello Rahul,
Validity of cost centers can be changed in transaction OKEON : Standard hierarchy of cost center change.
Select your cost center, In basic data tab you can change the validity dates.
This should help.

Please note this can be done.
Go to Edit Cost Center
Goto Edit, Analysis Period.
Create a new validity period say today until 3112999
Change the data you want and save.
When you go into the CC again it will show two validity periods.

Change validity period of cost center from 2009 to 2008

Hi All
I have created a cost center with validity period 01.04.2009 to 31.12.9999 which was supposed to be created from 01.04.2008 to 31.12.9999. when trying to change the validity period in Tcode KS02 I am getting the following message -
"New analysis period must not exceed maximum period limit". In TCode - OKEON the validity period button for that particular cost center is deactive.
In TCode KS13 when I generate report for that cost center with Parameters - Valid from 01.04.2008 to 31.12.999 I can see that the cost center is valid from 01.04.2008 to 31.12.9999.
In TCode KS03 Display Cost Center the cost center is valid from 2009 which has to be valid from 2008. Please advise on how to change the validity period from 2009 to 2008.

Profit center balances transfer from old profit centers to new profit cente

Dear All,
My client wants to deactivate all cost centers and profit centers and create new cost centers and new profit centers for new fiscal year 2009.
So here my queries are
1. Putting an end date to the existing cost center and creating the New cost center now itself in the system with effective date as 1st April 09?
    I changed validity period in cost center but it does not accept.
2. How to restrict postings to profit center from April, 2009 ? even changed validity period and changed as inactive mode in profit center,
    It is allowing postings to profit center.
3. How the balances need to be transferred to New profit centers? I tried in 9KE0 T.code but in this T.code we can transfer profit center and GL A/C wise
    but here we have around 20 profit centers and 100 above Gls, so it will take so much of time, so kindly suggest me short way.
4. And When can we transfer balances to New profit centers i.e April 1st or after completions of Audit? because client wants to post pending transactions of 2008 FY
    to old profit centers in April and May months. So in this situation how can i proceed?
5. For mapping the Assets & Liabilities balances as on 31st Mar 2009 to New profit center the following need to be provided
    A. Profit center wise Trail balance
        ( For this i suggested S_PL0_86000030 t.code) is this correct?
    B. Profit center wise Balances of Subsidiary Ledgers i.e Vendors, Customers & Assets
6. On which date I can close 2008 FY& open 2009 fiscal year for Assets?
Please guide and provide me solutions above my queries.

1.     You can block cost centers and profit centers and create new or can use same by changing analysis period Eg: KS02 > Edit > Analysis period
2.     Select lock indicator in profit center master record
3.     Write LSMW to that
6. At the end of you fiscal year close the asset period and do all year end transactions and open new asset period

Hi All
Could you please tell at what level ( level 5 or level 9 ) are the profit centers
maintained in SAP. For example how to find the level of FRBs in the table
BSIS.
Also if anybody can explain me the concept of cost centers, profit centers
and cost center groups.

i am giving the defination of cost centre, profit centre
Cost centres are divisions that add to the cost of the organisation, but only indirectly add to the profit of the company. Examples include Research and Development, Marketing and Customer service. A cost centre is often identified with a speed type number.
Because the cost centre has a negative impact on profit (at least on the surface) it is a likely target for rollbacks and layoffs when budgets are cut. Operational decisions in a contact centre, for example, are typically driven by cost considerations. Financial investments in new equipment, technology and staff are often difficult to justify to management because indirect profitability is hard to translate to bottom-line figures.
Business metrics are sometimes employed to quantify the benefits of a cost centre and relate costs and benefits to those of the organisation as a whole. In a contact centre, for example, metrics such as average handle time, service level and cost per call are used in conjunction with other calculations to justify current or improved funding.
Profit Center Accounting provides visibility of an organizations profit and losses by profit center. The methods which can be utilized for EC-PCA (Profit Center Accounting) are period accounting or by the cost-of-sales approach. Profit Centers can be set-up to identify product lines, divisions, geographical regions, offices, production sites or by functions. Profit Centers are used for Internal Control purposes enabling management the ability to review areas of responsibility within their organization. The difference between a Cost Center and a Profit Center is that the Cost Center represents individual costs incurred during a given period and Profit Centers contain the balances of costs and revenues.

Extend Profit center validity periods

Hi All,
I have a requirement to extend the Profit centers validity period. for example I have created the Profit center with validity date from 01.01.2010 to 31.12.9999. I have loaded the data with these dates, there is no issue in this. I have new requirement to change some data from 01.07.2010 to 31.12.9999 for the same above profit center. Is there any procedure to extend the validatity dates like that. Please let me know if there is any procedure available.

I know of no other way to accomplish this than to re-execute the consolidation for the prior periods after the hierarchy has been changed.
I have used the restatement feature and like you have found it very limited.
The copy to another version would only work if you copied the existing data to the new version before re-executing the consolidation. The the version 100 can be re-consolidated for the previous periods and the existing reports do not have to be changed for a new version.
However, with the copy, it is important to set the cons group and cons unit hierarchies to be version dependent so the changes are only good for the version that is to be re-consolidated for previous periods. This allows you to report on the data before the change where the logic will read the old, unchanged version of the hierarchy.

Change "valid to" field in Profit Center master collectively

I want to change "Valid to" field in Profit Center master collectively, e.g. from 31.12. 9999 to 31.12.2010. I have tried KE55(mass change profit center) but it seems the "Valid To" field is greyed out, i.e. not able to change this field in massive change.
Therefore, I have to go to KE52>change valility period to shorten the "valid to" filed invidiually. There are too many profit centers i have to change.
Is there any way to change this field in mass change configuration?

I need your help to know if we can use BAPI_PROFITCENTER_CHANGE to change the validity period of a profit center.I am using this BAPI in a LSMW program.
The changes I want to make are something like changing the validity dates from
1) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2007 - 12/12/9999
2) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2005 - 12/12/9999
3) 01/01/2006 - 12/12/9999 to 01/01/2006 - 12/12/2010
or should I use BAPI_PROFITCENTER_CREATE?

Mass Change Profit Centers on Open POs

The instance is ECC 6.0
We need to change profit centers on open POs. Is there a mass change or another systematic way of doing it?
Other question is that can we change the Profit Center on the POs where GR is done or it can be done only if the GR is not done?

Normally the profit center will be filled in material amster in sale view plant data or in the costing view of and which will get defaulted in the MIGO transaction.
Try changing the this field through MASS transaction.orthrough LSMW.

Change Profit centers in all transactional data tables

Hello Experts,
I have been assigned to change Profit center MASKTOOLS to BRION in all transaction data tables.
Is there any standard SAP programs/reports that will help me do this?
How do I identify all tables were Profit center is stored?
Bearing in mind if I make changes directly in tables (example via Abap programs) BW will not recognise any changed documents and therefore not update BW accordingly.

What about Internal orders, Sales orders, Service orders, Production orders, PA segments etc etc. etc..
I also have to think about orders with settlement rules which hold both profit center and profitablility segments which also hold profit centers.
I am still hoping there is SAP standard reports that can help identify and change

Cost Center validity period change & Business area assignment to cost cente

We are facing with error KS134 - Transaction data already exists for the period.
We tried to create new cost center with period split. But I am getting error KS133 - Deletion is not possible (dependent records exist in table ).
Hence even creation of the new cost center is not possible. We alrady have Validity Period from 1.04.2005 to 31.12.9999.
Is there any alternative solution ?

Hi Sumeet,
The fields in Cost Center Master Data are "Time-Dependent" and you can see the Time-Dependency of each field in OKEG transaction code where you can find "Business Area" to be "Fiscal-Year" based.
So, if at all you need to change the Business Area, it would be possible in next financial year only...
And also, because, your Cost Center is defined from 01.04.2005 to 31.12.999, there is no way that you can change the validity period so as to create / extend in the same period-lap.

Org Unit Validity Period change

Hi Experts,
Can any you please let me know, is there any option of changing the Org Unit Validity period.
Ex: By mistake I have created an Org unit with Start Date as 01.01.0091 and End Date 31.12.9999.
Now I would want to change the Validity period of Start Date from 01.01.0091 to 01.01.1900.

PIR Price change log with validity period

HI All,
We have a requirement in our project for a report that shows Price change (i.e. Old value and new value) in PIR. Yes i know there are lot of standard reports through which i can see the change but i am facing difficulty in tracking these changes to a validity period. For eg: if a PIR has 4 validity periods for every quarter, how can i link the price change to the validity period for which that change was made?
We are open to develop custom report if standard is not available but need logic to determine the validity period.

Retaining history on validity period changes for qualifications

We'd like to be able to retain the history on when validity periods for qualifications are changed in the TEM module. I can't get the Qualification Catalog maintenance screens to allow us to enter the validity dates for the HRP1025 recors. I was able to configure SAP to allow me to make the changes via PP01 but if we then make a subsequent update in OOQA the effective date goes back to the start date of the Qualification Object and the history is lost. Is there any way to turn off the maintenance of the HRP1025 data from OOQA and force it to be done through PP01?
