Changing Variable & Method Names

I wish to call a colour from the java.awt package, & want to be able to enter the colour on the fly. how do I call 'theColourIWant' & append it to the end so I get Color.theColourIWant.
Another example would be to create multiple instances of a class by incrementing the name by one each time ie
myClass c1 = new myClass;
myClass c2 = new myClass;
& so forth by perhaps using a 'for' statement to increment c1 to c2 & higher. How do you call the new name after appending the incremented number to the 'c'.

There is nothing to stop you from creating a class that extends the java.awt.Color like this:
public class myColor extends Color {
    public final static Color myWhite          = new Color(255, 255, 255);
    public final static Color myLightGray   = new Color(192, 192, 192);
    public final static Color myGray            = new Color(128, 128, 128);
    public final static Color myDarkGray   = new Color(64, 64, 64);
    public final static Color myBlack          = new Color(0, 0, 0);
}Then you can just use myColor.myWhite

    Hi All,
    The problem we've got here is that same things are named in slightly different way by different developers or development groups.
    Typical example:
    'id' property. accessors could be named like: 'getID' or 'getId'.
    Or even better example: term 'Work List' implementation of which has nothing to do with Java List. So, property could be named as 'worklist' or 'workList' with similar names for accessors.
    I think, this problem is slightly outside of coding standards scope. And as project is very massive ~300000 lines of code, there are a lot of different terms named like in example above.
    Has anyone come across such problem before?
    I suspect, solution would be to keep a kind of variable/method names library.
    Are there any better solutions?

    standards scope. It is, and I'm glad it is because the "people" who make the standards that we do have end up creating dumb, inconsistent stuff as it is. Better they don't get too granular.

  • Was there a change in method names for ABAP Proxies ???

    Hi all,
    i am wondering if there was a change in the method names when using ABAP proxies.
    In my projects there were always the methods execute_synchronous and execute_asynchronous when generating proxies.
    In a current project i created some ABAP proxies and the method names are not the same any longer. Now the method takes the name of the Message interface. I observed this in Backendsystems NW2004s (Basis 7.0) with SP14 and 15. It seems that it has changed since the sproxy was integrated in SE80.
    Can anybody tell me, how i can use the "old" method names again when generating proxies ?

    Yes. In order to allow several operations for a message interface, the methods of the ABAP proxies get the operation name as method instead of a constant (the Java proxies alwas had this behaviour).
    could u pl highlight what other operations are allowed on message interface rather than sending a message to the XI either in synchronous or asynchronous manner?

  • Code will not compile when changing method name in related class

    Hello all! I'm wondering if anyone can help a second-time poster. I have a class called Transcription which holds the artist name and song title of a guitar transcription. Transcription has a method toString() which returns a String containing the artist name and title. I have a class GuitarMag which holds a vector of Transcription objects, and has a method WriteGuitarMag() which returns a String containing, among other things, the toString() method for each Transcription in the transcriptions vector. I wanted to change the method name in Transcription to writeTranscription() for consistency, but when I refer to that method in WriteGuitarMag(), GuitarMag gives an error to the effect that the writeTranscription() method does not exist.
    This works fine:

    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I compiled the Transcription class first, and then the GuitarMag class, so it shouldn't have been a problem. In thinking about it more today, I'm wondering if I need to cast the vector component to a Transcription object first. Because all objects have the toString() method, it works without casting, but if I rename the method it doesn't?

  • SSDT vs 2013 and Clr function, call a Clr method name dynamically using SQLCMD variables

    My question is this, hopefully this makes sense:
    How could I got about doing this, inside a SQL function, I would like to re-name the Clr method call based on a SQLCMD variable? 
    I have a Clr project to encrypt/decrypt data, there are different method names depending on the deployment types.
    For the definition of a function called dbo.EncryptThis, I would like to use a SQLCMD variable to change the name depending on SQLCMD variables. This works fine in SQL Server Mgmt studio, but VS 2013 fails to recognize the SQLCMD variable and the build fails

    THis code works fine in SQL Server Mgmt Studio, but fails to build in the SSDT project.
    In the SSDT project I have the SQLCMD variable defined and think I have SQLCMD mode enabled, by doing this:
    Right click file > Execution Settings > SQLCMD mode

    (@str NVARCHAR (MAX))
    RETURNS NVARCHAR (MAX)

    Bummer, so the only other solution I have is to create a post-deploy script to change the function based on a SQLCMD variable or other logic?
    What would be really cool, would be if during the build process the SQLCMD variables would get replaced with the default value to the SQLCMD variable, thus would allow to build the project. Also, during deployment, if someone entered an incorrect method
    from the assembly it would just fail.

    Why oh why? What do you want to achieve?
    Let me tell you: there is a way to do what you try to do, but it's not recommended and should be used only very sparingly. Especially not in anything like your code, that resembles normal business logic (as opposed to an application framework such as Spring, for example).
    Can you explain what exactly you want to do with that? Why should a Teacher be able to call any random method ony any other class. And what good would that do?

    Hey Luis,
    the container object only exists in message mapping runtime.
    Thus you're getting a null pointer exception there.
    For java mappings, remember that you have a .setParameter() method (which is necessary from definition of StreamTransformation interface),
    which sets the private variable param with the transformation parameters. In your .execute() method, just use it like this:

    in order to change x, you have to assign adifferent
    value to it like

  • How can I change Output Method and Mailbox# programmatically (without GUI)?

    We have several iR5075s and about 300 workplaces. For security reasons we only allow "Store" output method. So every user has access to some printers and for every printer they need to reconfigure printing preferences.
    For convenience we'd like to do the following automatically (via Group Policy or scripts):
    1) Change "Output Method" to "Store".
    2) Set the correct mailbox number.
    The problem is that the related settings seem to be stored in registry as a binary blob (HKCU\Printers\Connections\<printer name>\DevMode). I've been searching for a while but I couldn't find anything that would explain what's what in that blob.
    Any clues?
    Or maybe there's another way?
    P.S. I'm familiar with scripting, regular expressions, etc. Acquiring the necessary parameters (such as mailbox#) is not a problem at all. I only need to know where and what I should change (in registry or elsewhere).
    [Edit] Update: Actually it seems the settings are stored in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\<user sid>\Printers\Connections\,,<server name>,<printer name>\RemotePrinterCache. It's also a binary blob though.
    Eventually I'll reverse engineer it enough for my goals. I just don't understand why it must be so complicated...

    I once had a similar task for creating a webpage that I only use on my computer--a webpage that accesses PDF's and SWF's font previews from a list of fonts as "a href's".  What you must do is utilize the power of the command line, whether on a Mac on a PC or on Linux, Linux being the most powerful (although Mac IS Unix).  You must utilize variables, variable replacement, and then a command to print out the results of a "for" or "while" loop to a text file which will be your HTML file with each individual link automatically built into the HTML code.  You will have a list of 50 links.  If you are simply looking for a GOOGLE type functionality where you click on "Next" and "Previous" you will have to dig deeper into variable replacement--this I don't know how to do yet but there are books for command-line shell interpreters.  One shell interpreter is called "bash" (born-again shell) and there is a book on the market which gives a detailed example of how to replace variables in a shell script.  Again, I don't know how it works.  I will try to learn this at a later time when I am more seasoned with the basics of shell scripting.

    If your requirement is to create , the file name dynamically for your receiver file adapter, you can do so using your <b>FILE ADAPTER CONFIGURATION</b> itself, and need not go for any JAVA Mappping / Java Code at all.
    The dynamic filename generation concept is as follows.
    In your filename field in the receiver file adapter, just give a variable with <b>%</b> symbols. (eg: %file% ).
    Now, under the option <b>Variable Name Substitution</b>, you can give how the value has to be created.
    <b>It can be your interface name, sender service name, etc or it can be some value dynamically from your payload.</b>
    For the former, your give
    <b>message:interface_name</b> ,etc
    and for the payload part you give,
    <b>Payload: "your element root which u wanna acecss"</b>

  • Changing the File Name

    Hi
    i am designing a adobe form which will be send in mail when a button is clicked, i found that the attachment name to be "unknown.pdf". how can i change this ???
    i found out a method called getAcrobatApplicationName() in XML and when i changed application name in that its not getting reflected. So is there any other way to change the file name on "Button Click" event?

    In NW2004s we use the following. getPdf() returns a byte[], the filename is "document-<username>.pdf" and source is the attribute of an IFrame UI element.

    On NW2004 we use a FileDownload UI element (with target=_self) and we call initFileBinaryType method in the wdDoInit method. Of course you still need to set the binary PdfData context attribute with the actual content of the PDF file.

  • Changing the sender name of WF-BATCH

    Hi,
    I am new to workflow programming and looking for guidance on changing the sender name of the emails going (SENDMAIL activity) as WF-BATCH user.
    I looked at the input from this group on similar question and understood that what I need to achieve can only be done via FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1.
    I am unsure how to accomplish this if the email I am sending out needs to read the description captured in the task (whic is a dialog method) before this (TS01000140).
    Can anyone give me inputs on how to achieve this?

    Hi,
    First of all, you might want to check class cl_bcs for sending emails. Basically your function will do the same but this class is a bit more functionality. Plenty of examples in SCN/Internet.
    Whatever function/method you will choose to use, the idea is to develop a workflow method, and then call the email sending function/method from this method. Then you of course develop a task that will call your new method. Now, you will need certain parameters for the email sending function/method: subject, body text, recipient, etc. You need to either deliver these parameters for the method from your workflow container or build some additional logic to the workflow method. E.g. if your task TS01000140 gets the email text into the workflow container, then you need to bind it to your email sending task (and to the method) => you need to add this to your task container and then add it as a parameter to your method.
    One additional hint: When building the custom logic, pay attention to email language. You want to deliver the emails in correct language, so the recipient language must be known before the email is sent...
