Changing verizon primary smtp server??

hi,
i'd like to change the primary smtp server for my verizon email.
it's currently set to : outgoing.verizon.net
and according to a recent email from verizon, i should change it to|
smtp.verizon.net
(all the other info doesn't change (passwords, ports, etc)
if i tweak the primary smtp server and change the hostname from 'outgoing' to 'smtp'
then hit 'done', the settings app crashes and doesn't update the settings.
any help would be appreciated, since i can currently recieve mail, but can't reply on that account!

This probably means that your mail app data are corrupted. First, try resetting the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears. The try to change the setting again. If it still fails, delete the Verizon account, Reset the phone again, and add the account back.

  • How do I change the primary SMTP server address on my iPhone DOT-MAC accoun

My original account smtp settings were for dot-mac. I am having ever increasing problems getting mail to send. I can find the settings for my primary SMTP server, but cannot edit or update them (currently smtp.mac.com), as they are all gray'd out and cannot be changed. I would like to update these settings to smpt.me.com. Is it necessary for me to delete this account in order to update the settings? That seems rather lame.

What did not work? You could not add an additional SMTP server? It does not matter what the primary is listed as....turn it off. Then turn on the additional server you added.
Better yet remove your .mac account and add it back as .me account.

  • How do i change primary smtp server?

How do I change my primary smtp server? I can delete all the old accounts I no longer use as email accounts, but the primary smtp server for the accounts I still use is still set as that for the old server. Not only is there nowhere to delete it, I can't even change it! There should at least be a button to take you to that page in the iOS6 settings somewhere easy to find, like IN the same place as where it is listed.
    Very annoying.

  • Editing primary SMTP server crashes settings

I just set up my mom with her new iPhone and used a backup from a previous iphone. I have to set the password for the SMTP server for her email account but when I try to set it and click "Done" it crashes the Settings app every time. I cannot change anything within the primary SMTP server settings and get it to save because every time I hit "Done" it crashes. I can successfully add additional SMTP servers, and have set up one with the correct settings and have it turned on, but it doesn't work because the server is the same server specified in the primary.
How can I delete/change the primary SMTP server without it crashing?
    All help is appreciated.

  • Changing Oracle XE SMTP server.

I am running Oracle XE on Vista Home Basic and as you may expect this version of Vista doesn't run SMTP or WWW server. Anyways, I wanted to use a remote SMTP sever, say smtp.mydomain.com. I found where to change the default SMTP server from "localhost" to "smtp.mydomain.com" - it is on
    Home>Application Builder>Application Administration>Email Configuration>Email Environment Settings
the problem is that my SMTP server requires autentication and I see no place where to enter the user name and password. Can somebody help me with this?

the mailbox I set up has suddenly change the outgoing SMTP server to offline. Whatever I do I cannot edit it to become online

    Hello Jeba1969
Use Connection Doctor to see what is causing it to be offline, like a incorrect password or a different setting for authentication. Check out the article below to get a start on troubleshooting your issues with sending mail.

  • Goldmine Contact Management and using Verizon as SMTP server

One of our sales reps must use his personal Verizon settings to send his email in Goldmine.  His user name and password are correct and work with Verizon web mail.  When using his Verizon SMTP settings in Goldmine, server keeps rejecting as bad user and password.  Using port 465  SSL and Login type authentication.  Need to contact someone at Verizon, but can't locate anyone who can help me since this is not my account.

For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's SMTP (outgoing) server would be:
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No, Normal, Plain, etc.
These settings should work unless it is a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the SMTP server name is outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
If all of that is set up and it's still not working, your best bet is to provide a screenshot of the settings (with personal information blocked/removed) and any errors you are getting.

  • Why did my iPhone (not PCs) suddenly require a change in POP/SMTP server spec's for one (only one) of my email accounts?

Hello! Why has my (iPhone only) POP and SMTP settings suddenly changed for one (oddly only one) of my email sub-accounts? -It changed from "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" to pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net, respectively, ALL BY ITSELF!?
For example, I have had two verizon email accounts on my iPhone for some time, each originally set up with the default "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" for receive/sending email.  Suddenly, without my changing anything in my settings, my "[account-1]" account would not work via iPhone (yet still worked via desktop PC)- it was not until I completely deleted the "[account-1]" account from my iPhone and recreated it that it would work, HOWEVER, iPhone AUTO-creation process for this POP account settings now picked up "pop.verizon.net" and smtp.verizon.net" instead of the previous standard "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" settings.  (Yet "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" is still necessary for all other verizon accounts, as well as for my "[account-1]" on desktop PCs)  Has someone, for example, affected (illegally...?) a redirection of my "[account-1]" mail through other servers...?  NOTE: ALL my acocunts have been using the incoming 995 and outgoing 465 ports for some time without problems until this issue started a couple days ago.

  • Contact Objects and Primary SMTP address changes

We are going to be changing the primary SMTP address on a large number of contact objects. Does anyone know if simply removing the SMTP address of contacts will cause any issues?

    Hi,
Please confirm if the “contact objects” in your posting mean the
Mail Contact in Exchange. Generally, the Primary SMTP address for the mail contact is the external email address for the contact.
If you want to change it to a different external email address, we can use EMS with "-PrimarySmtpAddress" parameter to change it. If you want to change the primary SMTP address for multiple mail contacts, we can create a .csv file with all changed
external e-mail addresses for these contacts. Then imports and uses the data in the .csv file to set the mail contact.
    Import-CSV "C:\ChangedContacts.CSV" | ForEach-Object {Set-MailContact -Identity $_.Name -PrimarySmtpAddress $_.EmailAddress -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled $False}

  • How to Delete SMTP Server on iPhone/Can't Add Additional Servers

How do you delete the primary SMTP server. I'm on 2.2.1 My outgoing mail is not working and I figured since I'm a Mobile Me user I'll change the SMTP setting on the iPhone.
I can't add a new smtp server. I go into account info for my Mobile Me and select SMTP. I can't see how to delete the primary server and when I try to add server I enter smtp.mac.com then my user name and password. I see 3 check marks after I press Save. I says it verified. But it never shows up on the list. I have secondary server but I can't figure out how to delete that one. Its the ATT smtp server cwmx. All that info is ghosted yet it's not on my desktop account.
If synced Mobile Me but nothing changes.
Confused and I can't find any help on Apples website.

    I have the same problem.
Not sure, but I think the iPhone won't let you modify certain email settings of accounts created by syncing to your laptop or PC.
Delete the account on your iPhone and create it again manually (on the phone itself.)
    This worked for me.

  • With Mail 8.0, the SMTP server selection list has gone?!

    Hi,
I use one primary IMAP email account, but multiple addresses, and I have to send my emails using different SMTP servers, according to the email address domains. Now, before updating to OS X 10.10 Yosemite, in the New Mail window, there always was a "Send Using" SMTP server selector right next to the email address selector. Now that's gone, and I can't figure out how to bring it back.
So now I'm unable to send email using other than my primary domain address.
    Any ideas?
In fact, if someone could tell me how to directly assign a specific SMTP server to an email address (not to an email account! Remember: I have multiple addresses in one account) - that would be of great help, too.
    Thanks much in advance!

I too would like to have the option of being able to select which smtp server to use for each email. Often when I am at a client location I have to use my tethered cellphone for network connection and this requires a specific telco smtp server to be used. Currently now there is a wait while Mail tries a few times with the primary smtp server associated with the account (my normal provider I reach when at home on the broadband) and some indeterminate time later it decides to poll the next server on the list (the telco one). Once it has done this successfully once then further emails seem to get routed immediately to the current smtp server. But the first time each day is a lottery on how long it will take.

  • HT4519 Unknown SMTP server and user name in my Ipods mail settings???

I have an ipod touch 4th and four yahoo email accounts set up on it. My primary smtp server is yahoo smtp. Now i recently checked my email account settings in "SETTINGS" and noticed that under my primary smtp server is a catagory called "Other SMTP Servers" and underneath that shows "smtp.aol.com". So, curiously, i clicked through to see the "Outgoing Mail Server" category which lists Smtp.aol.com as the host name and "on**********[email protected]" as the user name. Now I have used that user name with yahoo before but i do not have and aol account! And I certainly didn't add these settings myself. What could this mean??

    Hi,
I know that the SMTP server settings are correct as they work correctly for the work email account. The home account (that is not working) uses these same settings.
In the iPad OS when you go into the Mail settings and click through to the menus to get to the SMTP servers there is a primary smtp server specified this is globally used across all the mail accounts. As I say I know that my settings for this are correct as it works for the work account.
I have however taken your advice and confirmed with my service provider and re-entered all the smtp settings to this primary server and the iPad confirms that all the details are verified, however I still get the same problem with the work emails sending correctly and the home ones stuck in the outbox. To me it appears that the problem is not with logging onto the smtp server the problem is with the iPad actually sending the message to server.
    Any other suggestions?
