Changing voicemail server settings

Hi there,
I have recently deployed Jabber for PC without any issues, but the few Jabber for MAC installs have only partially worked.  When I start the Mac client, I am unable to modify the voicemail server settings -- the boxes are greyed out and I can only change the username/password.  Has anyone seen this before?  This is with Jabber for Mac version 8.6.6.
Thanks,
Brandon

On my PC Jabber clients, I have to manually set the voicemail server information, directing it to the primary Unity server and port 143.  With my Mac Jabber clients, it's automatically set to the secondary Unity server, but using port 443.  So I just want to change it so it matches my PC Jabber settings.   Where do you set this in the Presence server?  I'm using IM & Presence.

  • I changed ISPs and had to change the server settings. Now one of my two email addresses crashes every time I try to read the emails.

    At first Thunderbird downloaded every email from the problem account going back to 2011. I changed the server settings to only download emails from the last 15 days and to delete any messages older than 15 days.
    I can send emails from this account and my other email account works fine for sending and reading mail. However, this problem account crashes Thunderbird every time I try to read the messages. There are now only 300 messages in the inbox and I've been able to have them marked as read. But I still can't read any of them.
    What's the fix on this?

    Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

  • Change DNS server settings

    Hi All, When I log into my router I can not find on any of the tabs where to change my DNS sever any ideas?                                                          Thanks Debbie

    Just came across this when looking for a way to change the server settings as I use my Sky Router as a backup measure (i.e. it's set up, ready to go, but for the moment, just serves the internet over one of the Ethernet ports via a better router and wireless network in my house). Anyway, as there doesn't seem to be a way to sort the DNS settings on the router itself, I would suggest the following to those who are looking to use OpenDNS (which is why I'm looking to do it). Disable the Wireless network on your Sky Box and plug in a cable DSL router (i.e. a router that doesn't have ADSL on it, but has an ethernet internet port for connecting to a router - or one that has that ability (some have multiple options to allow for failsafe - but anyway)).  Google "wireless cable DSL router" and look in the shopping section for an idea of them. Setup the new router as per the manufacturers instructions and connect the new router to the Sky Box by the ethernet port.  Now, assuming you've turned off the Wireless on the Sky Router (found under setup on the Sky router interface (192.168.0.1 from your computer normally unless you've changed it)) when you connect up the new router, this should be the only thing that is supplying internet into your home and you should be able to change the DNS settings on the router (make sure of this before you buy it just in case, but most of them you can do) and that way anything that is passed through the new router, even when it heads out on the Sky connection will use the new DNS settings. Ok, so it's a bit of a hassle and might cost you £20-£30, but if it's to use OpenDNS or such services for the protection of your family when browsing online, it's money well spent IMHO. Of course, if Sky had any nouce about them, they would simply give an option to use either their own DNS servers or the OpenDNS servers, even if they don't allow full customisation of them, especially with all the recent news about eSafety for people at home.  It would just make a lot of sense as far as I see. There are some routers out there now which fully intergrate with the OpenDNS service (Google OpenDNS Router to find some examples - a lot of NetGear ones now do - just makes it easier if you're a bit green on the techy front, though OpenDNS offer a lot of assistance and walk throughs on their own site too.

  • Changing mail server settings (per Verizon's request) caused all sent mail to disappear

    Changing incoming mail server per Verizon's 3/7 email caused sent mail folders on iPad and iPhone to go empty. I was able to restore them by restoring my devices from iTunes backups. All sent mail was then restored (even mail sent after the backup date.) If I change the outgoing server, the sent mail files are not affected. Changing the incoming server (from incoming.verizon.net to pop.verizon.net) wipes out the sent mail. Since it is POP/SMTP, there are no other settings I can change on the Apple side. It appears Verizon needs to figure out how to link the old sent mail to the new server ID... Anybody know anything about this?? Thanx.

    iPhone does not have many settings for POP email clients, which is what Verizon is. The options to set delete behavior and file locations exists only for IMAP mail, and Verizon is POP, not IMAP. And changing the incoming server settings DID cause my sent mail to disappear. It was reproduceable. As said before, it came back when I restored from backup -- even a backup that pre dated many of the sent messages, so they obviously didn't restore from the backup itself. (And Apple confirms that mail is not backed up in an itunes backup). Verizon keeps claiming that sent mails are not stored on their system, but where did they come from when they re-populated?
    From your restore most likely.  Its true that smtp email does not get saved on the Verizon (or most other) mail savers.

  • Mail and ical randomly change internal server settings for exchange account

    Ever since upgrading to Lion, I randomly find that my exchange mail account, my exchange calendar account and my exchange address book go offline.  When I look at the settings, I find that the internal server settings have been changed from the correct address to the word "sites".  Cannot figure this one out.  I have deleted and added the accounts numerous times.  Cannot find any error messages.
    Just wondering if anyone else has every experienced this.

    The last OSX update 10.8.1 fix it, uncheck Server Autodiscovery and it work perfect

  • Will updating to OSX Mavericks change any server settings on my MacBook Pro?

    I am connected to my schools servers, and I wonder if anything server settings are changed if I update to Mavericks.
    I suspect everything will be exactly the same, but I want to be sure before upgrading.

  • Lower Modem Firewall Settings to Change Email Server Settings

    after weeks of being unable to make the new settings work - then following what one of the other contributors wrote - I changed the firewall setting on my Verizon provided Modem to LOW -  now all is OK
    medium and high settings will not allow the new settings to go through
    suggest anyone with problems with new settings try same fix
    Note:  check the model number of your modem and download the user manual from Verizon website for instructions on how to change firewall settings

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    You cannot force BIS to connect as POP or IMAP -- rather, it picks the best it finds on the server you specify. To use a different service, your provider needs to configure POP and IMAP on separate servers. You cannot override how it configures.

  • Changing Mail Server Settings for Other IMAP

    Hello,
             I'm an Admin for a treatment center and one of our psychiatrists has a BB Tour. He asked me the other day if I could set up his email account on our exchange server for him on his phone. Going through the mail setup wizard I selected "Other" account and set it up for IMAP and then it asked me for his email address and password. It took the domain name and then assumed the mail server names were as such. Now in a perfect world, this wouldnt be an issue. I recently took over for a complete moron and this guy has our MX records pointing to a 3rd party company where all of our outside emails go and then the Outlook clients are set up to pop this box in addition to the Exchange setup (I know its totally lame). What Ive done for everyone else is just setup a IMAP account using the server IP address and mail works fine for them. I cannot for the life of me find where I can actually edit the mail server names for the IMAP account I create on his BB Tour. Is this a limitation the phone? Or am I not looking in the right place. Thanks!
    Solved!

    Yup -- refer back to my first reply where I said to use the carrier BIS website...while I didn't say it quite so clearly, I did not say to use the on-device email setup wizards.
    The device interface to BIS (aka email setup wizards) and the carrier website interface to BIS have subtle differences. For what you need to do, you need to use the carrier website from a PC/browser. Here is the link:
    https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
    If you have not yet created BIS credentials, you will need to. I find it easier to first create those on the device interface and then use them in the web interface. Afterwards, you will have to use the credentials in the device interface, but there is a "remember me" box so you will only have to enter them once.
    Personally, I rarely use the device interface...a full keyboard, mouse, and monitor are so much simpler for doing things than a tiny BB screen/keyboard. But that's just me.
    Good luck!

  • Iphone 5s mail account server settings inadvertently changes

    I have a 2009 Mac Book Pro (Mavericks 10.9.4) a 2014 iPad Air and iPhone 5s both on the latest iOS (7.1.2).
    I have been having problems getting my iPhone mail server settings to remain as they are set up, and as recommended by my telco provider (Vodafone)
    I want my iPad and MBP to be able to access my mail over wifi by being tethered to me cell phones 4G internet connection. I have gone through the set up with my telco on numerous occasions deleting and resetting server details but have never been able to get a stable set up.
    For some unknown reason the mail server account settings on my iPhone get changed automatically with the addition of a duplicate pop.3 account, but with the same email and password yet a differently spelt user name. My telco say this is a fault with my recently purchased new iPhone or the most recent apple software rather than something that is a fault at their end.
    Is there anything I can do to my phone to rectify this problem or is it as I assume a problem in some way with my account details with my telco?

    Hey karellan78,
    Thanks for the question. You are in luck! We have a resource that deals with this specific issue. If the issue is isolated to your Gmail account, you may need to unlock the account from Google’s website:
    iOS: Gmail account will not connect to Gmail server
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3058
    Resolution
    1. Check that your device is connected to the Internet by opening Safari and loading a webpage, such as google.com. If you cannot connect to the Internet, try the steps inthis article.
    2. If you have other email accounts on the device, check if those accounts can send and receive email.
    3. If the issue is isolated only to the affected Gmail account, visit this website:https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha.
    Complete the form to unlock the account.
    4. If the issue persists, follow this Google support article.
    5. Once the account has been unlocked, or the correct password entered, check that the issue is resolved. If not, remove the affected Gmail account from the device and add it to the device again: Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > Add Account > Gmail.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • TB v. 24.0: Changed ISP's; ~ new email in Server Settings & Outgoing Server & all Address Books and Contacts; TB still showing old email ID for Fwd & Rply

    TB v. 24.0, Win 7 Pro. Changed ISP's. I use Outlook 2007; wife uses TB, same box. Changed TB username & e-mail address in Server Settings & Outgoing Server & set as Default. Changed e-mail address in all address books and Contact lists. Now TB still showing old e-mail address in <From> when Reply or Forward. This is confusing recipients, who have been sending their replies off to a now-nonexistent account. Checked Windows Contacts - empty. Checked my Outlook 2007 - all Contacts changed appropriately. How do I kill that old e-mail address in TB when it isn't even listed any more - except when we try to Reply or Forward?

    When you got the new email address and changed ISP's, you needed to create a new mail account for that new existing email address.
    When a mail account is created there are many preferences setup to be able to manage and run that mail account. Trying to track down and modify all of those within the either the config editor or prefs.js is not only time consuming, but you could easily cause further problems if any error is made.
    So I suggest you fix the original account by reentering all the old data. Then create a new mail account for the new exisitng mail address.
    * File > New> Existing mail account.
    or
    * 3bar menu icon > New Message > Existing Mail account.
    when you have both mail accounts in your left folder pane, you can choose to move any wanted emails from the older mail account into suitable folders in Local Folders. This will save a copy of emails.
    Then you can delete the old account, leaving saved emails in Local Folders and only one new mail account.
    To remove mail account:
    * Tools > Account sEttings
    * select old mail account
    * click on 'Account Actions'
    * select 'Remove Account'
    * click on OK

  • Email authentication failure, password/server settings NOT changed

    Scenario: I've been using Thunderbird for years now to connect to Verizon and download my email.  Server settings have always been:
    POP3
    incoming.verizon.net port 110
    connection security none
    authentication method encrypted password
    SMTP
    outgoing.verizon.net port 25
    connection security none
    authentication method password, transmitted insecurely (oops)
    Suddenly when I try to get my email, it stops and tells me there's an authentication failure.  I've seen this happen before with Verizon when a server is down or messed up or whatever (pretty poor message for a service interruption, but whatev).  So I decided to wait it out, but when it didn't clear up after several hours, went to the website where I was able to log in (huh?) and decided to change my password for the hell of it.  Guess what?  New password doesn't work in the email client.  Quelle surprise.
    Sooo, I find THIS page (https://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/internet/highspeed/email/setup+and+use/questionsone/86...) which tells me a lot of malarkey about server settings.  I tried changing the incoming to their recommended settings, and it looks like there's no server communications a-tall.
    Can someone tell me what's amiss, and while you're at it, tell me where in a just and well-ordered universe a service provider changes server settings without notifying users well in advance?  Extra points for creativity.

    These are the new settings and they do work in Thunderbird.
    Mail server settings
    Incoming mail server (POP3)        pop.verizon.net
    Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
    Outgoing mail server  (SMTP)       smtp.verizon.net
    Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465

    The change you are probably missing as it wasn't on that page:
