Can anyone tell me how I can change the voice on my 6110 - had a male voice then a female one - want to go back to the male one.

Why 6300 can not change voice tags for contacts? Is there any software update available?

The voice recognition system is brilliant. Just you have to guess how to work it!
First, play a voice tag for a name you would like the voice recognition system to cope with. To do this, go into names, select the contact. You get the number and the name below with the 'pacman' voice symbol next to it. Select the name and hit 'option' key, then scroll down to 'play voice tag'.
Listen to the phone's pronunciation. Now hit red key to come out of the address book back to main page and press and hold the 'name' button until it says 'speak now'.
Say the name as you heard the phone say it. Hopefully one of the names it guesses will be it.... select the right name and then press the centre key... 'select'. It will start to dial so immediately hang up by hitting red key.
By doing this is learns the right selection, you can even teach it to recognise different numbers for the same name....i.e. if you have "paul(m)" as a mobile entry and "paul (h)" for a home number you can train it to go for "paul (m)" by saying "paul mobile"... or whatever you want...
Once you know how the phone pronounces stuff you don't have to listen to each voice tag as you can guess how the phone will say it, then, using the method described above, you re-train it to recognise it the way YOU want to say it
Quickly it learns and the list of options get less and less....

Changing Voice from male to female

Hello!
I founded out how to change the voice from male to female. There is a XML File in the folder, for example on my phone: E:\cities\GERMAN\CONFIG.XML. Copy this file to your PC and edit the file with notepad. Change the string "_male" to "_female" and save the file. Than copy it back into the old folder. Now you have the female voice.
@Nokia: Please add a function in Maps 2.0 to make this change in the menu. THX

I managed to solve the last bit at least for the ENGLISH voice
1. - As advised by harrytrotter you need to edit the CONFIG.XML file and change the string "_male" to "_female" and save it back to E:\cities\ENGLISH\CONFIG.XML.
2. If you have a nokia 6210 with english language. Your speech files are contained in folder called "english_male" i.e. at E:\cities\ENGLISH\english_male What you need is a second folder of female speech called "english_female". I managed to find a copy of the female voice files at another forum.It is in a compacted rar archive called "english_female.rar" - you will need the "unrar" program to extract it. Once you have downloaded the file to your computer, use the "File Manager" utility in the Nokia PC Suite to copy the folder back into the cities/english folder. i.e. when you are finished the folder location path should be E:\cities\ENGLISH\english_female
I just did it this evening and can confirm that my navigation is now done with an english female voice.
SOME OTHER PROBLEMS YOU MIGHT ENCOUNTER
NOKIA - Please fix this up as the Nokia Maps features are clunky and not very adaptable. I have also found some other problems with NOKIA MAPS.
1. I cannot put the gps co-ordinates of my favouratie surf spots (or any location) in the phone. If it doesn't have a street address - NOKIA maps cannot locate it. This is appalling as all other GPS devices do this and many modern maps locate features with GPS co-ordinates.
2. Some maps do not function well ( I don't know why?). I got the Nokia 6210 to navigate with Nokia maps in Chile. However it often could not calculate a route. For instance 60kms up the highway from Pichilemu the navigator was unable to calculate the route - It was a straight line! It often took 15 minutes to calculate routes on the Chile map. In the end I gave up and navigated Chile the old fashioned way. The Australian map is OK - but once again, when you get to Alice Springs (central Australia) major features like Kings Canyon are not searchable and of course the phone will not accept GPS co-ordinates.
So for these reasons, no voice choices, no ability to enter GPS co-ordinates, unable to see whether the map is in phone memory or card memory (see other forum strings), poor navigation functions in some areas (remote australia and chile) I will probably buy Route 66 software for my 6210. That Route66 software on my old 6110 was fantastic and of course once I payed for a map - that was it whereas Nokia keeps taking an annual fee for their product.

Change voice vlan on specific ports

I need to test a new phone system that is running on vlan 120. The problem is my current voice vlan 110 is still in use for my current phone system. How can I assign a different voice vlan for a single port without having it propagate to the rest of the switch or the other sbs switches in my network?

In regards to the Small Business Switches, you can only have a single Voice Vlan configured on them.
Now, since what you are trying to do is to test the connectivity on a single phone, I don't think that you will really have to change or Add a new Voice VLAN, maybe you can get it to work by changing the port to an Access Port with VLAN 120 Untagged, and then they should communicate as long as they are on the same VLAN.
Please let us know if this works, I'm not sure it will since the device is meant to only handle a single Voice VLAN as I said before, but it is worth the try.

Need help re changing voice message.

Need some help re changing my voice message. I follow the instructions which I found online and when I go Voice button that is ok, I then go to the Voicemail button as directed. Then told to press the Greeting button in the top left corner. I do not know why but when I press the Voicemail button it just goes immediately to retrieving voice messages. There is no option to press a Greeting button. Does anyone know why this would happen and provide me with instructions to find the Greeting button. Many thanks if anyone can assist.

It is your carrier's voicemail system.
Try this... (this is on my AT&T iPhone)
Open the Phone app.
Tap Voicemail at bottom.
Tap Greeting at top left.
Tap Custom to record a new greeting.

Changing voice sound from a garage to a rainforest ? in FCP

I have just greenscreened 2 people in a garage, so have a garage contained slighly reverb voices sound..In the film they are speaking in a giant rainforest..
What is the best easiest way to change the sound so they sound as though they are in the open?
What filters to I look at in Audio filters in FCP ?

yep already got the bird, gentle river, monkey and ambient music along with a few headhunter noises!?...will try noise gate and experiment there...
I'm sure alot of people are going to be recording greenscreen in a garage or small hall..its sure a major problem trying not to get a reverb sound from external mic and then trying to get rid of reverb as you say.

Change Voice Vlan 100 to other TAG

I have a switch ESW 520.
by default this switch have created a voice vlan (vlan 100 Cisco-Voice)
Can I change the vlan 100 Cisco-Voice to vlan 5 Cisco-Voice??
if it is possible how to do it?

CCA 3.2.1 - Changing voice VLAN gets java.lang.nullPointerException

Hi,
I am trying to change the default VLAN number for voice to 32 from 100. At the time of apply changes, I get java.lang.nullpointerException error in CCA. If I make changes to the device command line then Cisco would not support + all command line changes are not showing up in the CCA anymore.
How to get out of this frustrating issue?
I know this is not a Java version or laptop issue because I tried latest version of Java on 3 different PC and all of them report this issue.

SPEECH FUNCTION? Change Voice?

SInce Im a new Mac user, I dont know if this is a new feature or not. If you double click you can get the computer to read the text to you using the SPEECH function. Basically highlight text and double click and it will give you the Start Speaking Option - Ive successfully done this in Safari and Gmail. Im assuming t his is for hearing impaired but can also be used if you have tired eyes, dont want to read a long web article or someone says you a very long email. My question is can you change the voice at all? Does it give you a choice? I didnt find one. Just had a regular male voice. Just thought maybe there'd also be a female voice or even someone with a different accent. When Im reading an email from a friend in London or Sydney, it would be nice to hear a British or Aussie accent. So just curious as I didnt see any options and couldnt find anything in the help menu.

Thanks for responding. Ill try that. I assume it is a system wide thing so for example if I want to hear my London friends email in a British accent or my Brisbane friend in an Aussie accent, I change it just for that, and change it back. Its pretty cool. They were impressed when I told them I figured out that feature (so many things the Mac can do but no one tells you). I should tell them to use some British or Aussie- specific phrases.
While I saw languages with other characters like Arabic and Chinese, I unforunately did not see Hebrew, which was a language I was looking for. I thought if they had Hebrew fonts, they'd have a Hebrew speech voice. Am I not seeing it or does that not exist?
I really appreciate those of you experienced users who answer these qustions. I must honestly say its refreshing after my horrific first month as an Apple/Mac customer and the awful service and tech support Ive gotten both from the retail stores and from phone support. Every time they have told me things cant be done...I post something on here, and within minutes or hours, I get a simple response. It just infuriates me that Im paying for training which is totally useless!

Why is British English Siri only male while (or maybe whilst) one can choose male or female for American English? Is the gender choice only for us Yanks? I was thinking that speaking with a Bristish lady might be nice for a change, but I have no choice. What's this all about?
