Changing weather widget default location

Hello,
My Mom has a G4 running OS 10.4.11. She likes to use the weather widget (I never use widgets). However, the default location changed to another city. All I'd like to know is how I can change it back to the city or zip code she lives in. Thanks a lot for your time and assistance.

What weather widget?
Identifying the exact app would help enormously with providing a solution.
Some of these have a 'rollover' functionality so you wont always see the component you are trying to identify. Move the mouse around the widget face.
FWIW- AccuWeathers widget has been playing up[for a month or more]. They have been cycling their urls on the site (witness broken bookmarks too) and mine has broken frequently, based on SQL or whatever location the widget has to look up.
It does restore, but IME has rebroken several times. Good luck.

Xperia Weather widget GPS location automatic update issue

Folks,
Having an issue with Xperia Weather widget location automatic update. It just stays whatever I set manually before even selecting "use my current GPS location".It finds location OK, but should it follow then automatically or it works only in "manual mode" ?
GPS settings are activated OK.
On other weather app this feature works fine.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?

That "use my current GPS feature" is just to set the location. It doesn't works as automatic mode to update your location on it's own.
You will have to do it manually again if you wish to change the location.

Weather widget defaults to Cupertino

Hello all, I have 4 weather Widgets on Dashboard. These are for Bridgewater USA, Montpellier France and Bergen and Oslo Norway. 4 times of 5 when I fire up the dashboard for the first time i.e. after booting the computer from shut down, at least 2 or 3 of them list Cupertino- Now I know that I am a Machead deluxe - have had my hands on almost every model since 1984, this sort of flattery is too much to bear. If I spin them (i - icon) the location shows correctly i.e. Montpellier but on return to the Weather interface Cupertino is still there - with Cupertino's weather by the way. The only way I can force the weather is by opening the Accuweather site or by closing the Dashboard and re-opening it. Even this does not always do the trick and I have to re-locate the weather location by deleting the Montpellier that is there and re-entering it anew. Yet lo and behold - when I n´reboot again we are back to the 4 of 5 times etc. Any good ideas on this one??

Same problem here (had begun with Tiger). Having once displayed widget content and discovered that in moonphases folder there are only 24 icons (when there are 28 days in a complete mooncycle, I wonder if this could explain the fact that the cupertino icon appears frequently some days and then no more for a quite long time. For me the Cupertino appearing icon is always a nightly one.
May be somebody with more knowledge than me in software could check it ?

Change Weather Widget Color

Could someone tell me how to change the color of the weather, calculator, and/or dictionary widget to obsidian or milky white. Please note that I do not have very much coding knowledge at all so if this is VERY difficult and involves experience please tell me so.

it's coding-knowledge-free, you just need to manipulate the image files contained in the widgets (control-click on a widget from the widget folder to show its package, then open the images folder). All you need is image-editing software.

Set-Mailbox ‘user’ –Alias ‘alias’ –DisplayName ‘display name’
msExchMailboxGUID attribute is the attribute which can be altered
You can export the attribute msExchMailboxGuid using Exchange Management Shell
get-mailbox | ft Name,ExchangeGuid
Get-Mailbox -Identity vsathis9 | ft name,exchangeguid
Even this Exchange guid can be altered

Yahoo Default location in Safari: how to change it permanently?

In Safari I have added (but don't recall how) to the toolbar an icon (with a "cloud") which takes me to the Yahoo! weather page:

Once there I can enter another location (e.g. my hometown) and also specify this to be the "default location". But this default location apparently is not being stored, since when clicking on the cloud icon
I still get back to the original "Paris" weather.
Any idea how I could make my hometown permanent?

Are there perhaps settings in Safari that I need to change, i.e that prevent the Yahoo page from accepting the changes to the default location which I made there?
Unfortunately, the settings are controlled by Yahoo, not your browser.
Perhaps I need to address this question to the developer of the "Cloudy" extension of Safari.
I wasn't aware this was a Safari Extension. Definitely try contacting the developer. That information should be in Safari / Preferences - Extensions.

Three choices should drop down:
• Brisbane, Australia (Queensland)
• Brisbane Archerfield, Australia (Queensland)

Weather widget - location

On my yoga 2 10 tablet I would like two weather widgets. One for my current location and the other for the city where my daughter lives. How do I prevent widget two from defaulting to my current location?

I actually somehow broke it on my lenovo phone, but i think that i have 2 different lenovo weather widgets, and i can use them separatelly with different cities, but i don't know how i did that. One more stupid thing about lenovo weather widget is that you can't change the weather provider, as accuweather is not very accurate. I'll check how i did that if you like to use exactly the lenovo widget.

I have a new Mac Pro and want to change the weather info to my local town. How do I change this?

Hover the cursor over the lower right corner of the weather Widget, and a lowercase i will appear. Click that and the card will "flip over", allowing you to enter parameters (including location) "on the back". Click the Done button when completed.

Weather Widget Only Recognizes U.S Locations?

Hi everyone.
I'm a new MacBook owner, and during the process of trying to customize my weather widget I can't seem to get it to recognize Calgary, Alberta, Canada (where I live). I found the little "i" feature in the bottom right-hand corner and have tried both the city name as well as my postal code, but nothing changes. It defaults back to Cupertino every time I try to reset it.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time.

The weather widget isn't US only - I'm in Canada, and no problem here. Type in Calgary and hit "Return", and a menu pops up, offering a choice of "Calgary, Canada(Alberta)" and "Calgary Okotoks Air Park, Canada(Alberta)".
Assuming your network connection is working OK and your isp isn't illegally blocking access to any web sites because of a labour dispute, perhaps you could try deleting the "~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.weather.plist" file in your "home" folder...

Default Clock/Weather widget

Questions about the huge default clock/weather widget:
1. From what service does it get its weather info?
2. If I were to remove it and use other clocks/alarm and/or weather services, would the default widget still be running in the background? In other words, would it be a battery drain to use a different clock/alarm/weather services because then there are two processes running?

Pearson The weather widget on the incredible 2 is like the first incredible an you can change in the custom settings to what ever widget you want an to different clocks an should'nt hurt nothing at all as i've changed
mine several times. in the near year i've had my Dinc. Give em a try but if you want to go back its easy to do just Go to Menu > Settings > Personalize > My Sceenes an look for the Verizon Scene or HTC an it will pute the
Original one back on there or you can pute one of the other Custom ones that are listed.

Changing the Default Location for Backups

I've just downloaded PC Suite 6.81.13.0. How do I change the default location where backups are stored on my laptop? The default location stores the data in an location that is not compatible with my company network profile. I want to store the data in a different location, but I can't see any option to allow me specificy the location.

You have to re-index your Library by dragging/dropping the main Library folder into the Loop browser.

Changing the default location PowerPoint uses for templates

I do not want to use the default location MS Office initially configures for templates that is buried in some obscure folder on a local machine in that only Office know about. Instead want to keep my templates in the same location on a company server
with the rest of my materials so I can access it from my company laptop or from the Virtual machines I am forced to use in other company locations. This way I will have my templates everywhere I work. When I make changes they are available to me everywhere

MS Word allows users to configure this default location for templates but no where in PowerPoint can I find any way to configure this location. Previously on my laptop I have been able to configure the default PowerPoint template location, I believe, by
setting the location in MS Word; however, this is not happening for me now on the virtual machines I am using when away. I have scoured the Options settings and if it is there it is well hidden.
To make matters worse I am trying to use what PPT is providing to me while I sort this out and when you try to open "My Templates": there is a message that says:
"To add a template to My templates, click the File tab, click Save As, click Trusted Templates, and then save the file as a template."
Of course when I follow these instructions there is no folder named Trusted Templates on the left side of the dialog box. I am not sure why it is so difficult to allow us to configure this ourselves for each program but apparently it is.

As mentioned, if you use Word 2007 or Word 2010 to change the location in which your new templates are saved, you also change the location in which all 2007 Office program templates or all 2010 Office program templates are saved.
Office programs use one registry key to record the user templates file location, you can browse to the following path to check if it's recorded:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General
The user templates location is stored in the
UserTemplates
string value.
