Changing white backgrounds to remove glare

Dear List Members
I have been working with an e-learning developer for several
years now to advise her in
my capacity as a statistician on the design of e-learning
materials which rely on Flash
animations and objects. I am not a trained user of Flash.
At my place of work, we use an online sequencing engine
called EROS (Edinburgh
Reusable Sequencer) which facilitates linear progression
through pages of content forming
CAL tutorials and quizzes and the use of many different
question types together with the
use of a range of media including images, videos and Flash
animations.
I would be interested to receive advice on whether it is
possible to add in any features
to previously created Flash objects, and indeed to the pages
including these objects,
which will enable white backgrounds to be overlaid or
replaced by backgrounds of an
alternative colour. The idea is to render the learning
materials more inclusive for
users who are dyslexic without attempting the impossible and
unreasonable in terms of a
reconstruction job.
Whilst reconstruction of the Flash objects is not a pragmatic
option, perhaps some of our
list members are aware of how the above feature can be
incorporated into e-learning
materials retrospectively. I also have some specific
questions in relation to any
possible solution. Is there a feature that can be switched on
or off by the student or
would we need to build in the shaded backgrounds as a
permanent feature? How would the
implementation of the shading work in practice?
For your info, currently, the e-learning developer is using
Adobe Flash 9.

I had a go at the first image, and took about five to ten minutes, but that was without fixing the skin tones that are going to be affected by all that pink light flying around your studio.  But the second image looks more of a challenge, and with 600 images to be processed... 
You can see how pink the skin tones are against white.  The translucent clothes and reflective black shoes, are fairly easily fixed by taking all the red out of the image with a masked H/S layer, but getting those skin tones spot on for 600 images...  well I wouldn't want the job.
