Changing Win7 64bit to 32 bit on Satellite Pro C660-16N

Hello.
>...Satellite Pro C660-16N - Windows 7 64bit Home Premium preinstalled...
Does anyone know what the best route is to change Win7 64bit to Win7 32bit. Does this model have a 32bit install option on HDD recovery?
Or will it have to be a clean install from a Win7 32bit DVD.
Many thanks.

I presume this notebook is offered with 64bit version only (specification) and there is only one way to install 32 bit OS version you must install it using original Microsoft Win7 32 bit installation disc.
Please note: for OS activation you cannot use product key from the sticker. You must buy new licence for your own installation.
By the way: check also if this notebook model is supported for 32 bit version. You can do this on Toshiba support and download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
If you have more questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1JL - How to change the language of Windows 7?

    Hello,
I bought Toshiba with preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service pack 1. And would like to change language from German to Russian.
According to instructions from microsoft home page I could not get the result. MUI pack is not shown when searching for Windows up-dates (some other up-dates are only available, but not language pack)...
What would you recommend how to solve this problem ?
    Its Satellite Pro C660-1JL

    Hey,
    > I bought Toshiba with preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service pack 1
You cant change the language on Windows 7 Professional, this is only possible on Windows 7 Enterprise (volume license) and Windows 7 Ultimate.
So if you want another language, buy Windows 7 Ultimate or be happy with current language of Windows 7 Professional. ;)

  • Can't install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HDD

    Hello,
My HDD has died, so i decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660-1D9 to an SSD.
I made a bootable USB with Win8, and booted just fine.
The problem is that it does not detect my SSD so i can proceed with the install.
SSD shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows install.
It says there's a driver missing.
I downloaded AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even then, after selecting the only driver that appears, it says no new devices found.
I tried changing SATA mode from AHCI to Compatibility mode and it's the same..
    What can i do?
    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards,
    Bruno Moreira

Older Windows XP required an AHCI driver from Intel but I think this isnt a missing SATA driver issue because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers in order to recognize the HDD or SSD drive.
Furthermore the OS installation should be possible even if the driver would not be added... for this procedure you have to use the "compatibility mode".
As you said, the compatibility mode did not work too, so I think there is another problem.
However, Toshiba driver page provides also an Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver (Windows 8 - Upgrade) which you could try to add while OS installation.
But Im wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Did you try to format the SSD drive using another computer and then to install Win 8?
    Try it out.

  • Satellite Pro C660-16F: Which AC adapter is compatible

    Hello everyone,
I've recently lost the charger of my Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16F.
    It supplies output DC 19V --- 3,42 A
Also my father has a Toshiba Satellite, model A300 1RF
    Its chargers supplies DC 19V --- 4,74 A
I don't know if I can use my fathers' charger for my computer, as I don't know
if it just takes the current it needs or excessive current can cause it damage.
Can someone give me the answer to this?, thank you a lot in advance!

    Hi
You can use the other 19V AC adaptor.
The Volt value is very important. You can use ONLY AC adaptor which supports the 19V
The Ampere is important too but it can be a little bit different.
Your original AC adaptor supports 3.42Ampere and other supports 4.74. This is a little bit higher but not really relevant.

I presume you are missing SATA driver.
Please check this forum using advanced search option. You will find hundreds of threads where you can read how to install WXP on newer notebook model.
BTW: create recovery DVD before you start to install own OS.

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: Can I use Recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    Hii!
Im thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N, and i've ran the windows vista upgrade checker from the microsoft website and it says my system will support windows vista so im ok on that.
The problem is, if my laptop were to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD's that was supplied from toshiba still work on the laptop with windows vista?
Will they return the laptop to windows xp or since my laptop has a different operating system will they not work?
    Also...
    Whats the deal with BIOS?:S
    I dont understand!
If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
As i have to download the new drivers before upgrading yes?
    Thanks!

Of course the Recovery CD will work.
The Recovery CD will set always the notebook back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HDD will be formatted and the Toshiba image will be installed.
    > Whats the deal with BIOS? I dont understand!
    > If i were to upgrade to windows vista should i update my BIOS before or after upgrading to vista?
In my knowledge this notebook was already delivered with Vista therefore you dont need to update the BIOS if you want to install Vista again.
Some A200 Satellite series needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such case its advisable to update the BIOS to XP version firstly and then to install X OS.
    Best regards

  • 'SHIFT' key on Satellite Pro C660 is not working

    G'day,
I have a minor problem with my Toshiba Satellite Pro C660 notebook computer.
Unfortunately I had to remove the keyboard and in doing so dislodged the
flimsy plug connecting it to the computer.
The 'Shift' key has refused to work since. All the other keys work as usual.
The only problem is the 'Shift' key not working.
I have tried gently moving the plug but made no difference so now have to
    use a USB keyboard.
Can you please help with suggestions to solve this problem?
    Thank you for your time.
    Cheers,
    Sunrap.

I have fixed my problem with the often used right shift key from my laptop computer by gently lift of the cap with a small screw driver and put a very small paper ball inside the hollow plastic tube.

  • Can't update display driver on my Satellite Pro C660

Hi, I've got a Satellite Pro C660-2DN, and I'm trying to update my display driver through the Toshiba UK website as Intel refers me to Toshiba when I do their driver assessment thing.
I've downloaded the three latest display driver updates that I can find in the list that corresponds to the C660 but none of them will install - the temp files are extracted, but then nothing happens. Could anyone help me?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You can also use the driver from Intel page.
Download the Intel driver, then extract the package to a folder created on the desktop.
Then go to device manager, choose graphic card and click on update.
Now you should use the advanced installation procedure which would allow you to pick up the driver from the folder created on the desktop.
The Windows should pick up the new driver and the update should go on.

  • My Toshiba Satellite Pro c660-1N9 not displaying

I was using the laptop this morning and then had to restart it after uninstalling my antivirus software. Upon restart, the screen went black. Not even the backlight comes on but the laptop displays as i can hear the sound windows makes while booting. I put it off and then left it for a while (long enough for it to cool down)and switched it on again. It started normally but upon restart again, it didn't show anything for a while then the screen became very bright and the things displayed were kinda blurred. When i restarted it again, it went back to the black screen. I just bought it about a week ago. Any suggestions as to what i can do to it?

...I just bought it about a week ago. Any suggestions as to what i can do to it?
    Three suggestions.
First, try a proper system reset and see if this helps bring the system back. Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, when you hopefully see the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, boot into Windows.
If that doesn't work, try the rest of the steps outlined in this article:
    Computer will not turn on
If nothing works there time to return it to where you bought it from.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Satellite Pro C660 doesn't start-up

    Hi,
Have a satellite Pro C660, which has decided that it no longer wants to start up.
When the power on button is pressed the green power light comes on and the fan starts to whirr, however the laptop does not seem to go through the POST routine, and just turns itself off.
I have checked the RAM Modules, and the HDD for poor connections in the hope that the problem is a simple one, but to no avail.
I have managed to start the laptop previously by holding CTRL+ALT+DEL, when it sprang into life. But this trick now no longer works. I have also tried holding the F12 and/or the F2 keys on start up but the laptop still refuses to start.
I should mention that this laptop is not very old, less than six months, however if there is a simple fix as an alternative to returning it, I would rather try that first!
    Hope someone has a solution?

For such issues there is no some kind of magic solution.
Your problem description is OK but we dont know what have you dont in the past.
Such problems doesnt happen for no reason and maybe some action that you have done can be responsible for that.
It sounds like defective BIOS so can you please tell us since when have you this problem and have you maybe tried to update BIOS in the past?

  • Satellite Pro C660-1NQ does not detect WLan network

    Hi Guys,
We have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1NQ here which does not detect the wireless network at all,
I have checked device manager and the wireless card does not show in here.
I tried scanning for new hardware, but nothing was found. I tried turning the wireless off/on with the function and F8 keys but still not showing in device manager or finding any new hardware.....
Any ideas as to what i can try next?
    Cheers,
    Ash

    Hi
It seems that the notebook would support the Atheros 802.11agn Wlan card.
Usually the Atheros Wlan card should be listed in device manager under in the menu Network Adapters.
If its not listed then I recommend installing the WLAN driver which can be downloaded here:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads
Choose the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter Windows 7 (32/64) 9.2.0.419.0 or newer
Hope this helps to detect the Wlan chip!!!

  • Satellite Pro C660 - Keyboard Problems

This question relates to a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1UX Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.
Some of the onboard keys (E, T, U, I, O, A, B, N, together with the Enter key) fail to register.
All of the other keys tested so far appear to register normally.
When connecting an external USB keyboard, all keys function properly. However, when using either the onboard keyboard or the external USB keyboard, it is necessary to hold down whatever key is selected for approx 2-3 seconds in order for its character to register. This makes typing incredibly slow and is understandably unacceptable.
I've checked device manager looking for errors, but am unable to find any. The driver for the keyboard is listed as installed and working properly, and driver update says that the latest version is in already in use.
I have also scanned for viruses using Malware Bytes and Spybot, and also with the laptops own pre-installed antivirus software. All of the full system scans return a no threat found message.
I have read that the keyboards on these machines can sometime be problematic, which could answer why only certain onboard keys function. The fact that all keys on the external USB keyboard work would seem to confirm this. However, the fact that both onboard and external keyboard is affected by the same slow keypress might also suggest a bios problem - but as this laptop is several years old and has been working perfectly, why would bios suddenly cause this problem.
I have visited the Toshiba website and based on this laptop having Part number: PSC0ME-02100SEN I have determined (rightly or wrongly) that the correct bios download version is 1.70-WIN, only when I read the following bios installation instructions http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm
I became pretty concerned, as the installation of the bios update appears far from simple.
Does anyone know if it is possible to download and install the correct bios by means of an automated update as opposed to the manual download and step by step installation, which, if not carried out as intended, could render the laptop totally unusable.
Has anyone reading this post experienced similar issues with this make and model of laptop and managed to successfully return it to proper working order. If so, how?
Any constructive advice would be gratefully received.

    > When connecting an external USB keyboard, all keys function properly.
This means that keyboard controller is OK and the internal keyboard is faulty.
To fix this keyboard issue, the internal keyboard should be replaced.
    >However, the fact that both onboard and external keyboard is affected by the same slow keypress might also suggest a bios problem - but as this laptop is several years old and has been working perfectly, why would bios suddenly cause this problem.
    Hmm I dont think so
The keyboard delay may be related to the settings.
You can check this in control panel -> keyboard

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - New HDD but no recovery disc

I need some help for my sons laptop which is the Satellite Pro C660-1LR.
The hard drive in this laptop completely died, i did not create a recovery disc for this laptops system.
I have purchased a new hard drive which is installed..however as you have guessed i have no access to reinstalling a OS, this laptop runs on windows 7.
I am not really tech savvy so if anyone can advise me please make explain in idiot proof format!! I am trying to avoid having to purchase anything to costly.

    > I am trying to avoid having to purchase anything to costly.
Problem is that you don't have many options about that.
If you want to have factory settings again you need recovery installation disc. You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx Of course it is not for free but, in my opinion, definitely the best solution.
You can buy Microsoft installation disc and install own version. You must buy valid licence for it.
In this case you must install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities additionally one by one.
Just in case that you can get this Microsoft installation and licence for free you can save some money.
Believe me the best solution is original recovery disc order.
