Changing your apple id for your icloud on your iphone

I bought my iphone about 6 months ago and I used my family's apple id for icloud but now I am going to college and think it is a good time to have my own apple id especially because i just bought a new computer and need to use an apple id for that too. I set up a new apple id on my computer and just need to change the apple id on my icloud on my phone. I was wondering if I change my apple id on my icloud on my phone will all my contacts and stuff be erased?

Are your contacts currently just on your phone or part of someone else's iCloud account. Have you enabled iCloud contact syncing under your iCloud account on your computer yet.

iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

Follow these steps to correct your issue:
1.     Log into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (this is temporary). Do not verify the email address, just save the change and exit: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
2.     On your device, go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account. When it asks for your password type in your current password, and follow the rest of the prompts to delete the account.
3.     Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to your new ID. If you need to re-verify it, do so.
4.     Go back to your device and sign onto iCloud with your new Apple ID
You should be all set!

Sync with iTunes so you have a backup. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings. Restore the unit as New. Reconfigure for your new ID and password. Restore your apps, etc. from backup.

Apple IDs never go away, so it still exists.
But lets be clear. You actually stopped using an Apple ID and created a NEW Apple ID. You didn't just change the email address of your Apple ID? That means that all of the music and apps purchased with the old Apple ID will have to be purchased again.
If you really did create a new Apple ID you will need the password associated with the old one to disable Activation Lock. There is no way around this. As I said, the old one still exists. You can use the standard tools to recover the password at https://appleid.apple.com.

You need to go to System Preferences (this may be called Settings in Mountain LIon)>iCloud and sign out. Then sign in with the new ID.

Apple id associated with icloud on my iphone is old and different how do I change id to current

My iphone 5 has iCloud. I didn't register for iCloud or sign up an ID for it, but it apparently is using an old Apple ID associated with a closed account. Today I tried to download Apple iOS 7 and the iCloud is telling me I need to log on to the iCloud otherwise right now I can't log on to my wifi network, I don't have my apps and need to reload them, and I have lost all information and data including personal photos saved since June on my iPhone. How can I change the Apple ID associated with iCloud on my iPhone 5 to match my current Apple ID in iTunes so I can hopefully log on my wifi network, get my apps backs, and find my data. Why is iCloud, an app I have never used before, preventing me from logging on my wifi network and losing my data and telling me I need to reload my apps?

If you can't, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account. I recently changed my email address and updated my Apple account profile to reflect the new address. This changed my Apple ID for signing into Apple store and making purchases as expected. I am however undable to get iCloud account to recognize the new Apple ID. I have gone in through settings on my iPhone and in iCloud Account Information attempted to change the Apple ID but the field is muted and will not permit editing. I have looked all through Support in iTunes Store and cannot find any information on how to get iCloud to accept my new Apple ID.

How do I change my Apple ID for iCloud without losing my data?

I really seem to have made a mess of my transition to iCloud :-( I have had an Apple ID for many years - it's my @gmail.com email address. I also have an @mac.com email address and, because I was a subscriber to MobileMe I have an @me.com email address, too.
I only recently upgraded my MacBook to OS X 10.7.4 after buying an iPad and deciding that I would like to be able to sync information between my MacBook, iPhone (3GS) and iPad.
I believe my problems started when I bought the iPad about a month ago on a trip to New York. I didn't have my MacBook with me to check which Apple ID I should use. I set up my iPad with my @gmail.com address as my Apple ID. When I returned home I discovered that my iCloud ID on my MacBook is my @mac.com email address.
I thought I could simply change the Apple ID on my iPad but I've not found any way that I can do that.
The problems I'm experiencing relate mainly to Calendars - I now have multiple entries for events on all my devices. I also have multiple entries for people in my Address Book and Contacts.
What I would like to do is -
1) retain my @gmail.com address as my Apple ID for the iTunes Store and purchases - this is the one I've always used and I have lots of purchases associated with it.
2) change my Apple ID for iCloud from my @gmail.com address to my @mac.com address so that I can also sync my Mail and, hopefully, eliminate the occurrence of multiple calender entries
If I were to delete my current @gmail.com address Apple ID on my iPad will I lose the data associated with this ID?

Thank you for responding to my question so promptly! My Apple ID for my iCloud account on my MacBook is the correct (i.e. my @mac.com) email address. Do I need to sign out and then sign back in after I have changed/updated my details on my iPad?
When I look at the 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' details on my iPad under the heading 'Accounts' it first shows my @me.com account and the items under that account are 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Find My iPad' - when I expand the account details it shows that my iCloud Account is actually my @mac.com email adddress.
The second entry is iCloud which is currently my @gmail.com account. Under this account are 'Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Reminders, PhotoStream, Documents & Data, Backup.
The third account is headed Gmail and is, indeed, my @gmail.com account, too. Under this account it shows 'Mail, Calendars, Notes'.
Am I correct in suspecting that the reason for my having multiple occurrences of both events in Calendars and people in Contacts is because more than one account is syncing Contacts and Calendars?

How to change the apple id for daughter's icloud

We bought our daughter an iphone last year. When we set the phone up for her we used my apple id for her icloud. Now she has her own apple id and would like to have her own icloud. When we go into the icloud settings on her phone it will not allow us to change her apple id. It looks like we can delete the account. If we do this will it delete my icloud account and information? Will this delete all her photos on her phone? Is there another way we can change the icloud apple id on her phone without deleting the account?

It won't affect your info on your devices. It will remove her photo stream photos but not her camera roll photos, yes you need to delete the account.

If you change your Apple ID you will need to sign in with the new information or password the next time you use an Apple service or feature that uses Apple ID. If you have multiple devices that use features and services that require an Apple ID, you will need to sign in again on each device.

When you go into iCloud there is an option to delete the account. The help desk advised me that using this option only deletes it on the phone and not the actual Apple ID. If you delete it you are given an option to keep content associated with this ID on the phone, which may be a good idea unless you want to completely refresh your phone.
Once you delete the account, you can then enter a new Apple ID.
I've just done it and it worked fine, leaving the original Apple ID intact and working on another phone.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
