Channel Grouping - Adjusting send levels simultaneously

Please help! I can happily select multiple channels (for instance 8 channels of a drum kit) and adjust all fadr levels simultaneously but can somebody please tell me how I may adjust all send levels (to a bus) simultaneously?
An example: I wish to add equal reverb to all parts of a drum kit. I have a bus reverb channel to which all drum channels are sent. Must I adjust each send level seperately to the same amount or can they be grouped.
Thank you
Paul

Hi,
If Express features the "grouping" feature for
channel tracks, then you can use it.
(Pro)Manual, page 276, subheading "Groups"
Cheers
Hi and thanks for the reply,
Search as I may it appears Logic Express has no Grouping feature and there is nothing in the Express manual regarding grouping. I guess it's one of the reduced features compared with Pro.
Thanks

  • ? Selecting 2 of 3 RGB channels in to adjust in Levels

This is a CS4 question (and let me express my ingratitude to Adobe for dropping support for an $1800 set of apps).
In Photoshop CS4, using a G5 (non-Intel), in the Channels view panel (alongside Layers, etc), when it is displaying RGB, Red, Green, and Blue I am able to shift-click, on say, the Red and Blue channels to sleect only those two. The image still displays in full RGB. When I issue command-L (Levels) I end up with the basic Levels disalog box, and instead of it choosing by default "RGB" for adjusting, I now have "RB" and I can adjust Red and Blue together with the sliders, avoiding the green channel. I can do this in, obviously, three combinations.
For some reason, when I try this same thing on a friend's Intel Mac with Photoshop CS4 (same!), shift-clicking the Red and Blue channels in the Channels palette chooses them but the image display now displays without the Green channel influencing the image, thus rendering it unusable for adjusting two channels at once.
I figure that since I am using the same App version on each Mac, maybe there is a setting somewhere I cannot find, or I am forgetting a step on the way to my friend's computer.
Q: How do I choose 2 channels in the Channels palette while still having my image display in full color, and also be able to choose those two channels for adjustment in the Levels?
For those of you who are wondering WHY I would want to adjust 2 channels at once, here's an example: an image looks lsightly too yellow, bt ther eis no yellow channel. Yellow is full Red & Green, so, using my method, I can choose both those channels, and reduce the yellow by reduing R and G together.

You should be able to shift click the red and blue channels, then make the rgb composite visible (make the EYE visible by clicking in that box)

  • Removing port from channel-group

I've run into an odd issue with port aggregation where I decided to remove a port from a port channel and put it into another but in my SNMP tool it still belongs to the old port channel and the new simultaneously.
The port channel was created by using:
    (config)#interface gigabitEthernet 1/0/22
    (config-if)#switchport mode trunk
    (config-if)#channel-group 1 mode active
    And then changed through
    (config)#interface gigabitEthernet 1/0/22
    (config-if)#no channel-group 1 mode active
    (config-if)#channel-group 2 mode active
I also get this when I pull information on etherchannel.

Could this be an issue with my snmp tool (observium) or are there any additional steps for removing a port from a channel-group? Switch restart?
    System image file is "flash:c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE4.bin"

    Hi,
I would say that this is related to the snmp tool, once you remove the port from the previous channel and added to the new it will belong to that one only, there is no way that an interface will below to 2 different port channels.
Also there is no need to restart the switch or anything like that, you can use the following commands to confirm that the interface is now part of the new channel group:
    Show etherchannel summary
    Show run interface gi1/0/22
With those commands you will see that the interface belongs to channel group 2, and the command you attached above shows that the interface belongs to po2.
    Hope this helps

(This is of course only an excerpt. There may be more blocks and there will be more size channels and more channel groups...)
Now, I want to store the dN values in one channel group, the dN/N in the next group etc. There should be 10 channels, one for each size class, and the data from the various blocks as sequential values in these channels. (I hope I wa able to explain this in a comprehensoble way...)
I can generate the groups and the respective channels:
set oChn = ochngrp.Channels(2) 'Der Kanal mit den mittleren Dm wird für die Kanalnamen der Gruppen weiterverwendet
    for i = 1 to 25
      sMyLine = file.getnextline
aChnData = split(sMyLine,vbTab,-1,vbTextCompare)           'Read one line and parse it into an array
if not Root.ChannelGroups.Exists(aChnData(0)) then          'test if a group named like array(0) exists
Set oChnGrp = Root.ChannelGroups.Add(aChnData(0))  ' and create one if necessary.
        for j = 1 to oChn.Size
          call oChnGrp.Channels.Add("" & oChn(j),eR64)                'add empty channels
        next
      end if
    next
How would I read the data?
With a lot of nested i,j-for..next loops, I could read a line via
    for j = 1 to root.channelgroups.count
             aValue = split(file.getnextline)
             for i = 1 to 10
                    root.channelgroups(j).values(i) = aValue(i)
             next
    next
' then jump to timestamp of next data block with some skiplines, read timestamp and reiterate
or I could try to read all values for one channel group and use skiplines, e.g.
    for i = 1 to root.channelgroups.count
       while file.position <> file.size
             aValue(j) = split(file.getnextline)
file.skiplines(as many as are between the blocks)
       wend
' now I have a 2dim array aValue to transfer into data channels. But how?
    file.position = 1
    next
Could file.GetStringBlock be of any help?
Has anybody tackled a similar file structure and could give me a clue or some code sniplet?
    Thank you...
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
I would just go line by line in the data file and send the array channel values (one value at a time) to the Channel.Values() property of the matching channel name.  It's not going to be fast any way you do it in VBScript.

  • How do I adjust audio levels at various points on timeline??

How do I make volume level adjustments in a single clip on the FCP-X timeline?  I have a music bed and need to adjust audio levels at various points in the song.  In past Final Cut programs.  This should be very easy but I can't find how to do it in Final Cut Pro-X.  I don't want to adjust the entire clip.
Also, I recorded voice on channel 2 and shot gun on channel 1.  I only want the voice (channel 2).  How can I select a individual channel once I have edited the piece.  I know I can re-import the video and designate which channel to bring in but I don't want to have to do that.
    Thanks!!

Select a range and lower the level, or hold the Option key to click on the level line to add a keyframe.

  • Channel grouping or stereo downmix

a bit confused about the differeence between channel grouping or stereo downmix in the audio settings of the sequence settings. i've used channel grouping forever but it came up that maybe i should be using stereo downmix sice the ultimate output is stereo. for example in my current project i'm using using 4 channels on the timeline. channels 1 & 2 are stereo, panned left & right (though not linked since levels are different for each). channels 3 & 4 are centered. would there be a difference in the outputed audio. tried it both ways and sounds the same.

  • How do I adjust the levels of multiple images at once?

CS6 user, I recently scanned a few pages of an old black and white comic, which thanks to the passage of time are now more black and beige.
I know how to adjust levels using the eyedropper tool but is there a way to apply the same effect to several images in one go (i.e. adjust the levels of one image then apply the same effect to the others as a batch of files), rather than pressing ctrl+alt+l and saving each image individually?
    Thanks

You can also select all of the images in bridge, go to Tools, Photoshop, Load files into layers. Then select all layers, put them into a group (Cmd G), add layer mask to the group and do the levels there.

  • Change channel group mode without down time.

    Hi All,
I'm trying to find a way to change the channel group mode on our access switch from mode on to mode active.
The port on access switch and core switch are configured like this : channel group X mode on
The goal is to change this config to channel group X mode active with no down time of the switch.
Please let me know if you have any ideas to do that.
    Fabien.

I don't think its possible to change a Channel Group Mode without downtime.
Changing from On to Active will cause the port to start sending LACP messages in order to form an LACP Port-Channel.
As you are taking a link down, I suspect spanning-tree will also try and reconverge.
The downtime should be fairly minimal though, do you have a maintenance window?

  • ASR - IPSEC, GRE, channel group, and MTU Questions

I have an ASR1004 and am trying to load-balance a 1.5G data rate over two 1-Gig ports using IPSEC ports, but I have a few questions.
    1. Can GRE support a 9K mtu
    2. Can you run IPSEC on a channel-group
    3. Can the ASR load-balance per- S&D on a channel-group?
I currently have two separate tunnels, one on each outbound gig link with OSPF running. However, I can't get a 7000 mtu w/ the DF bit set through to the distant end. I am guessing this is because of the GRE interface.
So is it possible to run IPSEC on a channel-group and have this load balance per S&D? I need to use the BW of both ports.
    Thanks for the help!

The ASR1004 router we can only send packets with a maximum MTU size of 1438 Bytes over the encrypted tunnel.

  • Adjust video levels on .m2v?

I've searched through the forums and can't seem to find a solution to my problem, so I apologize in advance if someone has already answered it somewhere on here... Is there any way (in QuickTime, DVDSP, or Compressor) that I can adjust brightness, contrast, saturation levels of an existing .m2v file? I need this as a "quick fix" over the weekend at home, as I don't have access to the original QuickTime file from Media 100, as it is at my office. I already have experience with the problem of my final DVD project ending up looking too washed-out....this is my 2nd encoding from Compressor for this project (I already adjusted the levels in Compressor, it just wasn't enough). The client feels the video still looks too washed out, so I wanted to try to fix it here at home over the weekend in DVDSP, QuickTime Pro, etc. (I have those installed on my G5 at home). So, after all that babbling, can I use one of those programs to adjust the levels at home without re-encoding, or do I have to wait until I get back to the office? Any assistance on this would be GREATLY appreciated!
On a side note, I would guess it's time to invest in BitVice? I understand it's encoding results in a much nicer looking file with less of the "washed-out" issues. I'm not at all happy with the results I get from Compressor.....I miss encoding mpeg2 files in QuickTime Pro! (The images seemed to come out a lot nicer).
Thanks for your time in this...
    2.5 G5 DP   Mac OS X (10.4)

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, my footage is Beta SP that's coming out of a Media 100 system, not DV via Firewire. I export "by reference" from the Media 100 and bring the clip into Compressor. It is a known problem that the Media 100 exports end up washed out when they come out of Compressor, and that's why I adjust the brightness/contrast levels initially in Compressor before encoding.
I just need a possible "quick fix" that I can do at home on the .m2v file, as I don't have access to the original export from Media 100 until I get back to the office next week.
Thanks for the link though, I'll read through the article anyway. Maybe I'll find something that will apply for future reference.

  • After adjusting the levels in a file the changes don't stay. How do I fix this?

    Hello helpful people,
I'm running Photoshop CS5 on an iMac. I started with a scanned tiff that was emailed to me, a black on white ink drawing. I changed it from a tiff to a greyscale image and saved as psd, then converted it to RBG 8bit. When I open the psd file I see that it's in RBG 8 bit and there's no asterisk (*) by the file name, so my work space and file are compatible. I tried to adjust the layers to dull the black lines in the drawing, and although I can see the changes in preview, the corrections don't stay and the image reverts back to the original bold, black lines. I decided to change my background layer to a regular layer and make the edits there. However, when I change my background layer by unlocking it and changing the name, I notice that my file suddenly has an asterisk (*) after the name and my same attempts to change the levels aren't working. I'm not entirely sure if it's a compatibility issue with the work space, a file extension issue (psd), or something all together unknown to me. Any direction on how to adjust the levels so that my changes stay would be much appreciated - and furthermore, any advice on how to keep my files and work space in sync would also be helpful. Thank you. If it helps to know, I'm in painting mode within photoshop, which isn't my regular setting, but I thought it would help since I want to add color to this black an white drawing.
    Sincerely,
    LauraMay

Zoom in to 100% before judging the quality of your adjustments on high contrast or noisy images.
While zoomed out, you're seeing a preview applied to the down sampled (averaged) pixels.

  • Can I still adjust the level of a music

    Hi,
imovie HD, we could adjust the level of music with different points( example: i imported a music and on a certain locations I want to decrease the sound from 100% to 40 and keep it there until another point then level it up to 60% then decrease it again to 20%....) but it seems that this feature is missing in imovie '09, isn't it?

You adjust the level of music with the Volume Slider in the Audio tab of the inspector. This volume setting applies to the entire clip.
If you need several different volume levels within a clip, you select the frames which need a certain volume, then EDIT/SPLIT CLIP (or right-click SPLIT CLIP). Then adjust the volume slider.

    Hello jreynolds!
With the command 'GroupIndexGet'. It returns 0 if the group does not exist.
