Channel Info Banner Display Time

How or where can I set the display time for the channel info banner time? My info banner remains on the screen for about 10 seconds unless I press the exit button.

There is an option under settings => television =>channel bar timeout (sequence is after pressing the MENU button on your remote).
You can set the duration to 2, 4, 8, 10 or 15 seconds.

Info banner display time reduced?

Is it me, or did the display time of the info bar get significantly reduced? It used to be around five seconds, but now it seems to be more like 2 seconds.
Dunno when the change happened. I only noticed it just now.

Actually it was reduced to around 1 second for when coming out of "trick play" (pause, ff, rew, etc. on DVR) but AFAIK is unchanged for other times that the IMG invokes it.

Banner Display Time for One App Only

I recently found an article (http://osxdaily.com/2014/01/29/change-notifications-banner-time-mac-os-x/#commen t-607754) showing a Terminal command to change the default display time for banner-style notification. It's a great thing, but then I thought...could there be any way to apply it to one app at a time? Say I want 10 seconds for Mail.app, 3 seconds for Messages and so forth.
Can it be done? Thanks.

It's called Trip Journal. The problem is, I think, that my iCloud backup wasn't current, because I'm travelling overseas, so data transfer has been largely up, and I don't think it has been backing up even when I was connected to wifi at my hotel.
I did back up my iPhone to the computer this morning -- but that was after the crash occurred, so I don't know if any data will be salvagable.
@Norman - I tried that, multiple times, but it hasn't worked.

Channel info box fade time setting?

Is there a way to set how long (or short) the channel info box is displayed when you change to a new channel?
It takes up so much realestate and seems to stay there forever (unless I hit the exit button). Just hate hitting two buttons everytime I change a channel.

No, I really don't think you are making too much of it. Maybe for me its just that I have gotten used to that particular action.
I have found over the years that many software developers think they know more about what is needed than their users do, so they set it up the way they want, users be damned. I think ideally there would be some default set, and then an option in the IMG to turn it off completely or set a specific number of seconds, and perhaps size.
If anybody has truely found a place (web page, email address, whatever) where plain old users can just simply submit requests for change (not report bugs), I sure would like to know what it is. If it exists, I have yet to find it.

"Get Info" only displaying "more info" 1 time

Strange problem here.
When I select a file in the finder, and hit cmd-i to "get info" it displays as expected. The "More Info:" section is complete. If it's an image, it gives dimensions and color space etc. If its a pdf, I get page count, title, creator etc. Everything works just fine.
If I then close the info window, then later (or immediately) return, "More Info:" displays only two hyphens: -- . This happens on every file. First viewing of get info works fine. Close it, open again, and I only get -- in the More Info section.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

I tried to edit before you saw the .pist because I misread that it also didn't work in the test account. The issue is systemwide and requires a systemwide approach. I wish I could pinpoint it more. I realize how nagging these issues can be as I frequently use the Get Info command and frequently close and re-open it.
EDIT: Can you shutdown, disconnect the Drobo and try?

The info banner stay on until I press exit. Any suggestions?

Assuming you are referring to the channel information box that appears near the bottom of the screen when you change channels or hit the OK or FiOS TV button, it will remain on about 5 or 6 seconds and then disappear. Or you can hit the Exit key before the time expires.
As far as I know, there is no way to change that behavior.
If you are referring to something else, what?

My Firefox system seems to automatically use a town to provide information those automatic banner displays, but it is NOT my town. How do I set or reset this feature to be my hommetown versus another?

Several different advertisers seem to use an embedded setting to display a map within their banner display, however, it is not my town, but one close by.
A couple weeks ago, a Firefox window popped up, without my involvement, asking me to verify certain information on it. It seemed to be a 'general settings' window from Firefox and I noticed it had the name of the 'other' town listed in the field labeled "Your Location" (or something close to that), so I changed it to the 'correct' name of my hometown and closed the window properly.
This action caused no issues (i.e. it wasn't a Trojan virus or anything) and seemed to have cleared up the incorrect banner maps, maybe as I didn't pay too close attention recently. However, today I again noticed the system using the 'other' town's name when displaying those banner map ads.
How can I set/reset this setting to the name of my correct 'home'town?

You can automatically save downloads without seeing the Open/Save/Cancel dialog in the Options:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > General > "Saves files to"
However, I can't think of a way to have the Open/Save/Cancel dialog always default to Save. I think mine suggests whatever I did last for the same type of content, but I haven't paid close attention.
I'm out of time to address the problem with "do this automatically" but there is one suggestion for why it could be grayed out in this article: [[Change what Firefox does when you click on or download a file]].
Is it possible you had a download-related extension before? To compare settings and extensions, please retain the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop. Aside from checking the extensions in there, it would be interesting to run a text file comparison on your currently active prefs.js file and your old one in that folder.

Is the Apple TV timing out while you are Home Sharing, using Airplay with a device, or working directly from the Apple TV menu? Without knowing the specifics, I'll provide some basic troubleshooting for your Apple TV:
One of the first troubleshooting steps is on Page 26 of the Apple TV User Guide:

Try resetting your equipment by disconnecting Apple TV, your TV, your wireless networking equipment or base station, and your router
from the power outlet. Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect everything.

How can Maximum Display Time in Chart Recorder be increased to hours/days?

Error message displayed when Recorder Display Time (X-Axis) is increased beyond ~0.25 hours, saying maximum display time has been reached. MUST be able to display time in range of days - although since data display rate (not Dasylab sampling rate, display rate separately controlled through pulse generator) is very slow (i.e. 1 sample/5 minutes, 0.0033Hz) total data quantity is not large.
Please help..there must be a way around this!! Thanks

The maximum display time in the Chart Recorder is based on a computation of how much memory is available to be allocated. The computation includes the block size, sample rate, as well as the amount of memory on the computer.
To display more time, you must reduce the amount of data to reduce the effective sampling rate being charted. You can use the Average Module or the Separate module to accomplish this.
There are some conditions where the actual sampling rate and the channel sampling rate are not the same - triggered data is an example of this, and data from the RS232 Input and ICOMS Input may be labeled in a way that leads the Chart Recorder to believe that the data channel has more data than it does.
Please provide more information about your application - what is the data source of the data that you are displaying, what is the sampling rate and block size? How much memory does your computer have?

Addendum to original post - uncommenting the following code section and running both the client and the server eliminated the pauses, however the time required to perform the connections was slower than I hoped. The best I could achieve was about 1.25 seconds for 250 connections with a 20ms pause every 20 connections (dropping the pause less than 20ms or increasing the batch size more than 20 would result in connections taking 10-20 times longer!).

It was easy to set up, easy to use, got done watching the movie. Transferred from HDMI to TV and as my question above notes. I am on TV, my cable information (show/channel/etc) show OM the banner on the bottom of the screen, I can view the channell guide, but, my screen is white, no picture no sound? Screensaver Display Time

Some time ago, I read a Forum post that offered a way to lengthen the display time of the standard screensaver in Mac OS 10.5.4. I have hundreds of beautiful landscape photos in my screensaver and enjoy watching them but they are not displayed for a long enough period of time to enjoy their beauty.

I too am totally perplexed by this - have been ever since I first got my iMac.
I have tons of wonderful pictures in iPhoto to display as screensavers, but as soon as you've started looking at one, it's gone!
There are two types of functionality I would like to see added to OS X screensaver:
1. Ability to alter time delay between picture changes
2. Option to browse through screensaver pictures using the arrow keys
Windoze seems to manage it (has done for years), so why not Mac?
Is there any way we request this sort of thing through official channels?

It asked me that too.Don't worry and just put it in. Itunes doesn't charge unless your son buys something. The password happens to me all the time. Credit card was only once. Just make sure your son knows not to buy anything without permission so he doesn't accidently charge you something.

How do I display time remaining in a captivate published video so the learning can know how much time is remaining in a video

After I publish my video it just plays but there is no indication of how much time is remaining on the video while watching. How do I display this

It is possible, but you have to know 'time' is bit different, depending if you are talking about the 'editors' time or the real time spent by the the trainee. Have a look at this old blog post, that tries to explain:

Time can show on the TOC (editors time), and if you have a playbar with a progress bar that gives some indication as well, but both for pure linear projects.
