Chapter Markers do not show on iDVD

I edited a movie in FCE, DV 16:9 aspect ratio. added chapter markers, but in order to preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio when I exported the project to Quick Time I encoded it as HD 16:9, It worked preserving the aspect ratio but in the process I lost the chapter markers. When I tried the converted project in iDVD the chapter markers were gone. Anybody out there has a solution for this issue?

You might try importing the QT into iMovie and then sharing to iDVD after making making sure the chapters are marked. But if that doesn't help then you may wish to read these:

  • Premiere pro cc chapter markers aren't showing in encore 6

    I have a project that I originally created in PP5 using Encore Chapter Markers. I have since upgraded to Adobe CC. When I exproted my project from PPCC and opened it in Encore 6 the chapter markers are not there. How do I fix this?

    I see 2 other instances of CC users complaining that chapter info from PR CC is not coming into EN CS6. There were other issues, so that was not tracked down.
    Are there users out there for whom PR CC Encore chapters are coming into EN CS6 okay?
    Sorry; don't have CC and cannot test myself.

  • Chapter markers will not export

    I am unable to export my chapter markers when exporting an FCE sequence to Quicktime Movie. They are sequence chapter markers with <chapter> tags. Tried with All Markers setting as well as Chapter Marker and DVD Studio Pro settings. Chapters do not show up when movie is opened in Quicktime Player, much less iDVD. I tried trashing FCE prefs. Made sure there were no conflicting markers (i.e. markers within 1 sec of each other). Very frustrating. Anyone with an insight?

    Yes, I've read this set of instructions about twelve times now. As I indicated in my post, they are green timeline-sequence markers. Not little pink clip markers.

  • Chapter Markers won't show up on Chapter Menu when trying to burn a DVD.

    Help,
    Trying to burn an SD DVD disc in FCP X from the Share menu.  I've set Orange Chapter Markers with Titles in my project from the timeline and these don't appear when I check the box to use chapter markers for Subtitles in the Destinations box to burn a DVD.  I've set a photo in the main menu and it appears with the Title of my Project, but in the Chapter Menu it only shows the default list of Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.  Shouldn't my Chapters show up on the list after they've been set up on my timeline in the project?  Also, I tried burning a disc with my Chapters not showing up on the chapter list and my disc only plays from the Main menu where the picture is inserted.  There's a slash line in the Chapter list button stating I can't use that option and I can't play chapters.  Trying to get this project out the door before January 20, 2013.  Can someone please help?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Can you post some screen shots? The chapter marker dialog box in the timeline. The DVD menu.
    What's playing back the DVD?
    Have you tried it without the background image? Build a disk image rather than burn a disc.

  • Markers did not translate to idvd

    I added markers to the timeline, exported and indicated markers = chapter markers, and hoped to add scene selection for those points in the movie when creating in iDVD. No dice. Could anyone kindly advise how to accomplish this and please be forgiving if it is obvious and simple - thanks

    Hello,
    you can find an explanation by reading these articles here:
    http://www.fcpbook.com/Video9.html explains your case.
    http://www.fcpbook.com/Video8.html
    In order to see chapters you must export in QuickTime movie, not conversion.
    Using the info on the above links you will change your exported movie to be properly understood by iDVD.
    Regards,
    Armando.

  • Photos in imovie 11 not showing on idvd project.

    I made a project in imovie11. Half is video with around 100 iphotos inserted into the movie. That is, a few iphotos in between various clips. Shows on preview imovie preview okay. But when I exported as HD1080 widescreen to idvd, the movie okay but photos not showing. Music tracks all there and the timing is all okay, but just a black screen showing instead of a photo? Any suggestions.
    One other point may be relevant, I think the imovie is in NTSC format, but need to export as PAL. Is it possible to do this in imovie or just idvd?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

  • Chapter menu button not showing up

    I exported my project from FCP with Chapter Markers included and when I brought that project into iDVD there was no automatic button for my Chapter selections. According to the HELP tab, there was supposed to be a button formed on the screen. Yes I had the box checked in iDVD preferences to include the Chapter markers.

    To export a movie with chapter markers, you must use Final Cut Pro 3.0.2 or later.

  • IMovie not showing in iDVD's media drawer

    Every post similar to mine seems to have solved themselves, but I can't get mine to work.
    I have 13 iMovies / Quicktime files in my movie folder; only 11 appear in the iDVD media drawer. I have deleted both iMovie and iDVD's preference files to no avail. Of the 2 movies not showing up in the media drawer, one is the first movie I tried that didn't show up, the second is a 'Save As' duplicate (with only the number '2' at the end of its name). Again, neither of these two show up.
    I might add when I created the first one of the 2 that are now not showing up in the media drawer, it too was a 'Save As' - a different version of another movie that IS showing up in the media drawer. I might mention that on my original attempt to save it though, I got an error message from iMovie that there wasn't enough disk space to save it (not true, there were 50 gb left). My second attempt on the 'Save As' did work though, and it runs in iMovie fine.
    It's just that neither it, nor its second 'Save As' version '2' show up in iDVD's media pane, even after deleting plist files.
    I'm hoping I don't have to do anything that would cause iMovie to render this small 2 minute video. It is built of slides from iPhoto so I don't want the degraded iMovie version of these stills. (I'm also hoping I don't have to re-create it; I got lucky timing the stills and the audio and doubt I could do that again!)
    Thanks for any thoughts.
    Dennis

    Hello Dennis,
    I had a similar problem once with a couple of movies i ran though JES Deinterlacer, saving them in the same folder. the original showed up in iDVD, the "processed" version did not.
    I don't have an actual explanation, but got it to work by simply dragging the movie into iDVD from the finder.
    hope this helps

  • Lost chapter markers from QuickTime movie in iDVD '08

    I have edited a movie in Final Cut Express 4 and exported it to a Quicktime movie. I put in four chapter markers in FCE, and these appear perfectly in the QT movie. When I import this into iDVD 7, there are the correct number of buttons on the scene selection menu, but they all open the movie at exactly the same place.
    Is there any way to make iDVD open them properly?

    j/c .... are there more than 36 chapter markers / sceenes in your FCE movie?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA40250?viewlocale=en_US
    if the above simply doesn't apply, then might you have any of these chapter markers located within 2 seconds of the start or end of your QT movie?
    might there be any chapter markers located within a transition?

  • Chapter markers won't show in dvd studio pro

    I exported my file as a quicktime movie with dvd chapters in fcp. I checked the quicktime file and i can see all the chapter markers. I compressed it using compressor and then imported to DVDsp 4 as i usually do (my hard drive died and i recently reinstalled everything). I droped it in the menu using "create button and chapter indexes". I chose an apple template. I only get one chapter. what happened to my other ones?
    I tried also as a test importing the uncompressed final cut file that has the chapters and repeated the above procedure, and still i only got one chapter?
    I use to do this all the time, what am i doing wrong?

    Compressor should pass along the informations. Did you remember to specify each marker in FCP to be chapter markers. If so, try importing your reference file directly into DVDSP and dropping it into a track. The chapter markers should appear. You can them simply delete out the reference video and replace it with your final encoded MPEG 2.

  • Exporting Chapter Markers that'll show up in DVDSP problem

    I posted this on Ken Stone's site; but thought I may get additional feedback here.
    I am sending a sequence compressor.... I believe I have the method correct;
    According to the DVDSP help menu for importing markers, that the format should look like this:
    Heatwole Project
    October 2009
    01:03:05:21
    01:06:12:09
    01:09:16:29
    01:12:21:07
    01:15:26:08
    01:18:32:26
    01:21:38:03
    01:24:42:06
    01:26:24:15
    But, when I export a marker list from FCP, it looks like this:
    Name Type Marker Name Comment Start Duration Color
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 1 <CHAPTER> 01:03:05;21 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 2 <CHAPTER> 01:06:12;09 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 3 <CHAPTER> 01:09:16;29 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 5 <CHAPTER> 01:12:21;07 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 6 <CHAPTER> 01:15:26;08 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 7 <CHAPTER> 01:18:32;26 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 8 <CHAPTER> 01:21:38;03 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 9 <CHAPTER> 01:24:42;06 00:00:00;00 Purple
    Heatwoles 2009 Sequence Marker 10 <CHAPTER> 01:26:24;15 00:00:00;00 Purple
    The top one (which I removed much of the info manually) imports fine although, although I had to change frame marks from:
    01:03:05;21 to 01:03:05:21
    (note semicolon changed to colon) Would not import till I changed this.
    Why would FCP help suggest one thin regarding markers and DVDSP have something else? What am I missing here?

    just export a qt ref from fcp and import that into dvdsp and lay it on to the dvd video track. It'll carry your markers over. You can then delete the video from the track and replace it with your compressed version, but the markers from the qt ref will remain.

  • Premiere Pro Sequence Markers are not showing up in Audition CS6 anymore

    Hello,
    If you look in Audition Help "Working with video applications" you will find following sentence:
    "Any sequence markers appear in Audition, and separate tracks can be retained for maximum editing flexibility."
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/audition/cs/using/WS58a04a822e3e5010548241038980c2c5-7e43.html
    This is an very important feature which was working very nice in CS5.5. But now in CS6 not any marker in appearing in Audition.
    Is it just a bug on my computer or in the software or does the feature not exist anymore?
    I am working on Mac OSX 10.8.2
    Thank you!

    I'm using the following programs on Mac OS X Version 10.9.5:
    Encore version 6.0.0.492
    Premiere CC 2014 version 7.2.2
    Media Encoder CC version 7.2.2.29
    I'm having the same exact issue described above, but the xml in my .xmpses file does not match what you've listed above.  The end of my .xmpses file reads as follows:
    </stMkr:MarkerInfo>
            <stMkr:NMarkers>38</stMkr:NMarkers>
            <stCap:CaptureTimecode>
                <rdf:Seq>
                  <rdf:li rdf:parseType="Resource">
                      <rdf:value rdf:resource="Capture"/>
                      <stCap:index>0</stCap:index>
                      <stCap:capturetime>00:00:00:00</stCap:capturetime>
                      <stCap:time>00:00:00:00</stCap:time>
                  </rdf:li>
                </rdf:Seq>
            </stCap:CaptureTimecode>
            <stCap:NCapture>1</stCap:NCapture>
          </rdf:Description>
      </rdf:RDF>
    </x:xmpmeta>
    </UserData></SessionFile>
    And I can't find the "Duration>0</StreamDuration>" anywhere in my .xmpses file.  Yet, I'm still getting the "Error parsing MPEG metadata file. Deleting or renaming "E:\YourVid\test.m4v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost." message when trying to import as a timeline in Encore.  Is there a new workaround that you know of?  Thanks for any help you can give!

  • Markers Not Showing in Mpeg2

    Hi,
    This is a DVD Studio Pro Question that is directly related to FCP and Compressor. Basically I want to have chapter markers on my DVD. My problem is my FCP chapter markers are not showing up in the Mpeg2 file that I insert into DVDSP. Somewhere along the chain, I must be doing something wrong.
    1. Within FCP, I made sure that all my markers were "chapter" markers.
    2. I then exported a Quicktime movie with "DVD Studio Pro markers"
    3. I imported that Quicktime movie into compressor and noticed that there are many blue markers. I then export an Mpeg 2 and AC3 file
    4. I import the Mpeg 2 file in DVDSP. I do not see any markers on the timeline
    I'm guessing that I messed up somewhere between #3 and 4. I've looked at all kinds of online documents and tutorials including this:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/compression_chapter_markersstone.html
    I'm at a loss of what to do, and I'm on a deadline... help!
    Alexander

    In compressor, are you using one of the Apple presets to generate the m2v file?
    If not, make sure the "Add DVD Studio Pro metadata" box in Inspector>Extras is selected. Alernatively just select "Include Chapter Markers only".

  • Import from FCP4 with chapter markers to DSP2

    I have read manual of DSP2 and discussions. I could not get chapters appear on DSP track editor. I only see add embedded markers. I could not see import one. Please help. Thanks

    I'm currently having the same problem. I have always been able to simply put markers in my FCP4 timeline - compress the movie using compressor mpeg2 and the markers would show up in DVDSP2 -- Now i'm using DVDSP3 and Tiger, still have FCP4. I re-compressed in compressor to mpeg2, marking the markers as CHAPTER MARKERS. still not showing in DVDSP3.
    We should NOT have to export as a quicktime then compress to mpeg2. That's what Compressor is for - to eliminate steps. Unless something has changed with DVDSP3 and TIger. I will try George's suggestion and see if it works.

  • Chapter markers to idvd NOT WORKING

    I created chapter markers...
    I sent movie to iDVD...
    There is no sub-menu with the chapters.
    I checked preferences and I have it all set up correctly (I assume).
    Any ideas? I really need to get this done for my son's class.
    Thanks.

    According to this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov3ac6b3ff.html  I should be able to export to iDVD and the chapter markers should be there...
    If you’ve added chapter markers to your project, you can simply burn the project to a DVD or export it, and the chapter markers will be recognized by iDVD, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Front Row, QuickTime Player, DVD Player, and most standard DVD players.
    Click to select the project in the Project Library, or open the project, and then do one of the tasks listed below. The Share menu appears in a light gray bar across the top of your computer screen.
    To share your movie with iDVD, choose Share > iDVD, and then burn it to a DVD.
    To share your movie with iTunes, choose Share > iTunes.
    To send your movie to the Media Browser, choose Share > Media Browser.When you send a project to the Media Browser, it will be available for use in iDVD the next time you open iDVD, which recognizes chapter markers.
    To export your movie as a movie file, choose Share > Export Movie.Keep in mind that movies exported in the tiny format don’t include chapter markers.
    To export your movie using advanced QuickTime options, choose Share > “Export using QuickTime.”

    This has been fixed...
    Turns out I was adding COMMENTS and not CHAPTERS!
