Chapters disappear after saving movie file

I have added chapters to my movie file using the instructions here:

but when I save my movie file, the chapters and the text file that supported the chapters disappear!
_Could anyone please let me know how to save the chapters into the movie file?_

Be sure to check the console window .. this won't be an error message that pops up .. maybe you already know that, but just wanted to make sure.
I'll have to test this in FM10. I use (and make) DITA-FMx where this works fine, but will test it in default FM-DITA and see if there's a problem. Do you have the latest FM10 patches installed? I do recall some issues with table conrefs in early FM10, but think they were fixed later .. the current version is 10.0.2.419.

OK, just tested it and sure enough, it doesn't seem to work .. conreffing either rows or cells .. it works when you insert it, but doesn't resolve when opened. The data is still valid, but it just doesn't render in FM. When I open the files I created in FM10 (default DITA support) with DITA-FMx, the conrefs show up just fine. If you really need table conrefs, it might just be a good reason to buy DITA-FMx ..

Journal entry disappears after saving and not available to post

Hi Gurus
On BPC for Netweaver version 7.5 and excel 2003 i am able to save the journal entry but am not able to post it since it disappears after saving. I could see the Journal ID being generated and then the layout gets cleared . i am unable to post this journal. Also when i go to journal manager and tries to list the journals this saved journal does not show up.
I have already set the application parameter "JRN_MAXCOUNT" to 1000 so that i can see the journals that i create.
Have any of you faced such an issue?

Thank you very much for your tip. I had Datasource as one of the header fields and i moved it to the item fields to make it work. I am still not sure why does that. May be because when we create the journal template system proposes only the required fields in Header and if select additional ones its not liking it.
I cannot come up with a reasoning why we cannot incorporate a non required field in header journal template . The obvious reason that i included the datasource dimension in header itself was because it was a common value that i want to use for all my journals.
Anyway i hope SAP would either fix this or come up with a reasoning.

Excel sparklines disappear when saving the file.

Sparklines that I created in Excel 2011 disappear after saving them and reopening the document. I tried saving it in .xlsx and still nothing. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this problem?

Reminders no longer work. Alert time disappears after saving.

After setting the date, time and alert the time disappears after saving.

Go to iCloud.com and check if your reminder on there has been backup. If all your remainder was backup. You can go to Settings>iCloud>Turn on Reminder
Sometimes iCloud setting should be turned on for Calendar or Reminder for it to work like to create new event on the calendar or reminder

Imported Objects Disappear After Saving

I have been working on a project into which I've imported 4 Illustrator objects (If you look at the first image below, the objects are a lightpost, two figures, the word StoryFirst and the word Media). I saved the 4 objects as separate files in Illustrator and then imported each one as "Composition" while leaving the "Illustrator/PDF/EPS Sequence" box unchecked.
After saving the AE project last night, I reopened the project this morning and found this:
As you can see, the lightpost and figures objects are still visible in the composition pane, but the StoryFirst and Media objects have disappeared. The files are still listed in the project pane, however, and you can still select the object layers in the timeline and you will get the object wireframes in the composition pane as if they were still there, but the actual objects themselves are no longer visible. As you can see in the picture, when I select a layer of the StoryFirst object in the project pane, the mini-preview in the upper left corner doesn't even display it.
I've tried closing and reopening the project a few times as well as toggling on and off the eye switch on each layer in the timeline, both to no avail. I also tried right clicking on each layer and choosing "Replace File" and bringing everything back in again new. This makes the objects reappear at the moment I have the project open, but as soon as I save the project again, close it and reopen it, they've disappeared again! All object files are in the same place in my hard drive as they've always been. AE never prompted me with an error message that it couldn't locate files. This is a very bizarre problem I've never encountered before.
Any help in solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

In AI, check your layers palette and inspect the structure of your groups. There may be odd combinations of e.g. groups with empty clipping masks (that cover the entire artboard and are only there, because the graphics were imported from a legacy version of AI or another program). That could lead to misinterpretation where then AE would clip the entire artwork. Similarly, look for things like Livepaint groups or live pathfinder groups. Same for art brushes, pattern brushes, pattern fills etc. In case of doubt, always do an Object --> Expand, then select the artwork and choose "Release Clipping mask". Often a bit optimization will do wonders. Also, one thing that came to mind after I wrote my last reply, is to check your swatches. Since AE operates in RGB mode only, it may not deal correctly with spot color swatches (Pantone) and CMYK swatches...

Saving movie files for video I Pod

I hope you can help me with an issues of trying to save a home movie into the right format so that I can transfer the movie to my new I pod video. I have been trying to use Final Cut Pro Express HD to save the movie file. I saved the file as m4v file. Was able to drag it into the I tunes library but I was not able to drag the file from the library and into the I Pod.
Can I use Final Cut Pro Express to save the right format? How do I get it into my I Pod?

I was finally able to save a movie in FCE and get it in 5g I Pod. I frist saved the file in FCE as a I pod file an m4v. "Export" and then "Video for iPod".
The video is not only exported as a .m4v file
but is also sized correctly for playback on the the iPod (320x240).
Drag the file into the i Tunes library. After dragging the video file to the iTunes library you have to add it to an existing playlist or create a new playlist for it, the same way you do for music. Create a new playlist file, video,and drag it in.
The last step was the part i was missing.
If you manually manage your audio files, you must manually manage your videos. If your iPod automatically updates your audio files, you must choose one of the two automatic update options for video or choose not to update videos.
Open iTunes 6 and drag your new movie file icon to the iTunes library in the Source list. To learn how to browse and view videos in iTunes, click here. Note: iTunes won't let you drag the movie to the Video playlist, but once you drag it to the Library, it will automatically appear in the Video playlist. You can also drag the video file to a playlist you create. I was not able to drag the file from the library to my I Pod which I have heard more than once that you can. So try that.

Getting errors in LR 6 after importing MOV files

Hi,
LR 6 newbie here after using Apple's Aperture. It seems that none of my MOV files are working after importing them from Aperture.
Any suggestions what should I do? I've tried purging the cache in Preferences->File handling but no luck so far.
Really clueless why LR doesn't work.

From the posted message, it seems to be this VMWindow.exe is not working well.
VMWindow.exe is the executable that is used for the standard “work with the virtual machine desktop” experience. If you just start this executable by itself it will open the “Virtual Machines” folder. See: Windows

Can you edit text after saving your file as pdf

I have recently created a letterhead in Illustrator.
Is there a way to change a person name and title after saving it as a pdf file? I heard something about creating a form in Acrobat professsional.
I need to print out a letterhead with different peoples name and title. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Can you edit the text in Acrobat Reader?
Yes, if you use Acrobat Pro to save the PDF as a Reader-enabled form.
1. Create your letterhead in Illustrator (or whatever). Leave design space for, but do not create text objects that you want to be editable.
2. Save as PDF.
3. Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro. Use Acrobat's Form tools to add text fields whereever you want the end users to be able to key text.
4. Select the Enable Reader Usage Rights command in Acrobat to make the form fields edtiable in Reader. Save the file.
Recipients of the PDF can now open it in Reader, edit the content of the fields, and save the file with their edits.

Disk usage after importing movie files into iMovie

The movie files on my iMac consume about 200 gig of space on a 1TB hard drive.
It seems that after I imported them into iMovie, much more of my hard rive is consumed.
Does importing the movie files into iMovie double the disk space used?

Yes you should expect that imported movies will be much larger than the original on the camera. That's because the camera's AVCHD format records a full movie frame only about once a second. In between it stores only differences from the previous frame. That saves a lot of space, but requires a lot more processing power to display the movie during editing. It would also require reprocessing of multiple frames each time you split a clip somewhere that happens not to be a fully-recorded frame.
That's why all of Apple's video software (even Final Cut Studio) converts AVCHD at import time to a format that makes each frame independent, but that uses several times as much space. Actually the pro software uses an even bulkier format than iMovie, to provide more bits per pixel, so that you can do more extensive post processing without loss of quality.
You may want to get one or more big external drives (preferably firewire 800 for speed) to hold your imported movie files.

Saved .mov file will not open on a Windows 7 version of Quicktime or WMplayer or Nero why not?

I made two .mov files one will open on a PC the other will not Quicktime will opew the first file, but not the second, Windows Media Player will not open either file, neither will Nero or Creative Media Player. How can I save a video file from iMovie to something that will opew on a PC?

Is this related to iOS (iPads and iPhones)?

In iMovie iOS there is only one way to export video, and that is Quicktime H264.
You will need the latest version of Quicktime for Windows.

Crash (DEP Exception) Saving .mov files from Vista and Internet Explorer 7

I have re-created the issue on multiple Vista workstations with IE 7.

When I save a .mov file from a web site, the first time I have no problem, but the second time my Internet Explorer crashes unless I have protected mode turned off.

After synching Movie file to iPad ...

So I synched a movie onto my iPad from iTunes. The movie file is now in two places: in its iTunes folder (on my hard drive), and on the iPad. Can I now remove the movie file from the iTunes folder on my hard drive? I just want to make sure that the next time I sync, it doesn't get deleted from the iPad because it's no longer on my hard drive.

Yes, I have photos and videos stored on my idisk that I can access with the idisk and/or gallery apps from my iphone or ipad. Personally, I also keep all my photos on a local hard drive (because I don't want to have anything without at least one backup). I assume there is a way of doing something similar with other cloud storage providers, such as dropbox.

Keep video metadata after exporting MOV files

Hello !
I use LR5 to manage RAW/JPG/MOV files from events where I have taken pictures from. Most of the MOV files do either come from my Canon Camera or from my iPhone.
I regular export the files in a reduced file back to my iPad or iPhone for "public" viewing. Unfortunately LR5 is loosing all metadata from my videos, especially creating date/time and GPS tags.
Is there any way to include metadata in exported (and compressed) video files ? It works in photo's very well.
If not, do you know any other program which can compress original video files from my iPhone and keep the metadata ?

Lightroom does not read metadata from the video files till the version 5.3.
However, the functionality may came as a feature in the coming version of Lightroom!
If the same is not visible in Lightroom make sure the files are copied to the system and then check the same in Lightroom

Saving .mov Files from Broadcaster.

I'm using an HDV Sony camcorder set to import and record in DV mode for live streaming video in Broadcaster. Broadcaster saves an .mov file of its stream to the computer, BUT the quality of the file is very poor.
I've been trying to import the live video into iMovie while simultaneously streaming it, but I can't use both iMovie and Broadcaster at the same time. I've also tried the same thing with Quicktime Pro, but no luck there either.
This is for a project at work and we HAVE to stream our events live, but we also need high quality recordings of the events to edit and burn to DVD for a cable broadcast.
I know that we can just record the program to the tape in the camcorder, but we haven't been able to find a tape that lasts over 60 minutes, and we'll need that for our programs just in case they run a little long.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've check all the Broadcaster help sections, but Broadcaster doesn't give you a lot of option or helpful tips.

Are you using H264 or native? Frankly a MBP hasn't the nads to compress high quality video fast enough. In Broadcaster I am lucky to get 15 fps for H264 and thus I only use it on a mac Pro.
Use tape , if you have to , two cameras.

After Upgrade .MOV Files Got Changed

Hi, Everyone...
I have 4 "very important" .MOV files that were taken with an iPhone 2 years ago. I have them stored on my Mac and backed up on a backup drive. They were "fine" before I upgraded to ML recently. But now, they no longer are being recognized as movie files - they think they are just "documents" and need to open with TextEdit. I tried just adding a .MOV as an extension, but that didn't help.
I tried opening in QuickTime and it says it can't open them. So I opened with TextEdit to see what data was inside, and it is showing a bunch of what I'm assuming is binary code?
What can I do to restore these files back to working movie files?!!

I am pretty sure this is normal, but try calling Apple back on the same case to verify. To fix it, open a terminal window and type
whoami
this will tell you who you are logged in as. Say you are logged in as "bob" then type
chown -R bob ~bob
