Actually my question is For eg: In a report, Calculate Material can be displayed by the Operation number... we'd like to see only the line item for the last operation number or max operation number.

To skip the first two Digits of the Char in Query

Iam using County code which is the attribute of Vendor in free-chars of my query. In back-end iam doing some enhancements for this county code and populating the county codes values with region. (For example if the country code value is 021 in back end iam populating by concatenating with region value. so the value in the back-end is 05021.)
When i run the query the key of county code value i see is 05021. But i need to skip the first two digits in county code and should display in the result. Is there any way to skip the first two digits for the county code values.

How to restrict for same char in Query designer

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement where we have to display the TRansfer amount
Where transfer from contract and transfer to contract
Sould not be equal.
Is there any way by which in query designer we can put condition on Chars.

As much I understood, you may create a replacement path variable on CHAR and convert the same in number/Key Figure.
You may put condition on this.

How to calculate the month difference between two date char. in Query?

Customers would like to see how many months passed between two date type of characteristics (e.g., the month difference between the current date and the scheduled delivery date in the record) and put the result into the column as KF.
We would have to grab the fiscal year/period kind of value and then do the subtraction, e.g., if the current date value is 2/28/2008 and the scheduled delivery date value in the record is 12/01/2007, the correct result should be 2 month difference between these two date values, but could someone here give us the technical light on how to make this happen in query design?

The Badi is RSR_OLAP_BADI.
You can create an implementation using Transaction SE18.
The implementation is per cube and is defined in the filters.
In the Implementation you have the following methods :
1. Define : Here you will provide the Keyfigure you need as a virtual one.
2. Initilialize : Any Init Function you want to do.
3. Compute. This is called per datarecord and here you can cimpute your value.

Entry Variable not available in Free char in Query?

Hi
I have to remove one of the entry variable in a query, its costing date and is mandatory variable; but it is not visible in Free characteristic to remove it.
Its one of the factory reports.
Any idea how to remove it?

The InfoObject Costing date is used in column in one of the KF. But the variable is not used anywhere.
I tried to create the same report in Query designer, and noticed that after creating the query, system automatically picks the variable as mandatory entry variable

Addition of new free char in query: Problem!

Hi,
I have a purchasing volume report . Requirement is to add the new characteritic ( Material ) into the definition of the query!
After adding the new characteristic, when i refreshed query in the workbook, the characteristic is displayed well below the already existing free characteristics( gap of four or five rows )!
So then how to avaoid this Gap of four or five rows?

Error when reading chars values when restricting time chars in Query

Hi all,
since a few days I am not able to restrict time characteristics in queries on a particular Multiporvider. I can restrict the time chars with variables but not with fixed values.
I am getting the following error:
Reading Characteristic Values -> Programm Error in class SAPMSSY1 -> Uncaught exception.
The problem exists only on one particular multi provider, but when checking the MP it indicates no errors.
Anyone experienced something similiar? I am appreciating your help.

actually it is a problem associated with SAP GUI 7.0.
A solution to this problem is
Just replace the file wdbspres.dll with in the following location
C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SapGui.
You can search for this file on google and download it.
we also had faced this problem earlier...but after replacing the wdbspres.dll...it worked..

Formula Collision on properties of char in query designer

Formula collision is a topic particulary significant when using two strucutes (one in the rows and one in the columns).
Let's consider you have the following Rows R1, R2 anc R3 = R1+R2. In the columns C1, C2 and C3 = C1*C2. The calculation in the ninth cell (R3-C3) can be done using the first (Rows) Formula or the second (Columns) formula, it depends on the result you want
C1 C2 C3
R1 10 30 300
R2 20 40 800
R3 30 70 ???
Should the result be 1100 (summation) or 2100 (product)?

ABAP For HANA as secondary DB problem in execute query decleration.

Hello Experts,
I am fetching data from HANA DB as secondary database using ADBC. When I am going to concatenate native SQL query its geting more than 255 char and here is the problem.
Please suggest how can I deal with more than 255 char string query.
GV_SQL is query which is string.
e.g. GO_RESULT = GO_SQL->EXECUTE_QUERY( GV_SQL ).

     1.Actually I am not facing any problem with ADBC. Just ABAP predefined type STRING is not accepting more than 255 character length.
     2.At the time of concatenating fields, HANA view path and where conditions it is getting more than 255 character, hence at the time execution of query getting failed.
     3. GV_SQL type string.
GV_SQL = |SELECT MANDT....(more than 255 character length)| &&
                   |FROM _SYS_BIC."dev.re.e10.cal.fi.tr/CV_COSTELEMENT_TEST" |
             && |('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$IP_BUKRS$$', '{ P_WERKS }')) |.
GV_SQL storing only 255 character, I wanted a string to store more than 1000 character length.

Popup Menu(F1- Help values) is not diaplying for a char at selection screen

Hi,
After executed the query, we are trying to get help (F4) values for info object Employee Group (EMPLGROUP) in the selection screen but it is taking long time nearly 1 hr and getting timed out. And for other Chars we are getting the help popup menu.
for your info...
There are only 6 values are there in Employee Group master data table.
And the characteristic settings in Business Explorer tab are as the following,
Display u2013 Text
Text type u2013 Default
BEx description u2013 Short description
Selection u2013 No selection Restriction
Query Def. Filter Value Selection u2013 Only values in Infoprovider
Query Execution Filter Val. Selection u2013 Only Posted Values for Navigation
Can any one please suggest us which settings we needs to change to get the popup menu (help values) for Employee Group at selection screen and what is the reason for not displaying the help popup menu?.

I am getting the data aslo for Employee Group in the query when I drill down that char.
But I dont know why it is taking long time and getting time out to display the popup menu for help values at selection screen.
I think this is due to the below setting only at char level,
Query Execution Filter Val. Selection u2013 Only Posted Values for Navigation
and there are 3 opstions for the above seeting as below,
1. Only values in master data
2. Only values in Infoprovider
3. Only Posted Values for Navigation
Can any one help me, which opstion will solve the issue and can any one explain me what is the difference between 2 & 3

Problem in view Char #

Hi,
I have load data in a Char and dats object. Some lines the field are empty.
When I execute the query, I saw a # in key, and Not assigned when I select text.
I don´t want to see # neither Not assigned, I just want to see the line empty if it´s empty.
Does anyone knows how to do it?

Try filtering <b>'#'</b> values -
right click on char - restrict - move # to right hand side - right click - exclude selections --for that Char on query.

Query running OK in SQL, giving error in form trigger.

i am in a strange situation. I have a table.
EMP_SCALES with fields and datatype.
PAY_SCALE BASIC_SAL
VI 8000
VI-1 10000
Now when on SQL PROMPT i try to find out BASIC_SAL in the table EMP_SCALES i am writing this query and its working.
SQL>select basic_sal from emp_scales where pay_scale like('%VI-1%');
Now i have to use the same query in when-button-press event of a button in my form.
Code:
DECLARE
basic_sal_emp number;
curr_emp_scale := :BLOCK.MYFIELD;
BEGIN
SELECT BASIC_SAL
INTO BASIC_SAL_EMP
FROM EMP_SCALES

this query retrieves no record... and gives error.
ORA-01403 which says..
Cause: In a host language program, all records have been fetched. The return code from the fetch was +4, indicating that all records have been returned from the SQL query.
Action: Terminate processing for the SELECT statement

Dur. Everyone seems to have overlooked the import of the error message: ORA-01422. This is thrown whenever an exact fetch returns more than one row.
The code works when the value 'VI-1' is hard-coded because there's only one row like that. However, when a field is used the query is obviously returning more than one row. For instance, if :EMP_INCREMENTS.CUR_SCALE is empty (NULL) then the query will return all rows (which is more than one). The same applies if the field has a value of 'VI'.
If you want to use INTO then the query must either return exactly one row or else the trigger needs to handle multiple returns.

BEx Query - free charactrics position

Hi,
i am working with BEx 3.x, recently we added one free charactrics in my queries, but it is not displaying in free charactrics list.
It is displaying begining of query results.
Please tell me how to correct my free charactics postion in my query

Column Heading more than 30 char

Hi,
In query template I am getting the column names dynamically, I want to show Alias instead of column names but in Oracle, column Alias has a limit of 30 char.
How can I show the Alias with more than 30 char in Query Template? I need to export the output of Query to Excel and HTML.

Hi Anil,
You could use an inline transform by applying an XSL stylesheet. You could specify the long alias in the stylesheet itself.
Alternatively, you could use a Business Logic Transaction. It has a Column Alias Action Block. The output of the Column Alias Action Block would be linked to a Transaction Output Property.
The data flow will be as follows:
Datasource - Query Template 1 - Transaction with Column Alias Action Block - Query Template 2 - Excel/HTML
Query Template 1 will be of Type SQL.
Query Template 2 will be of Type Xacute.

How to identify Virtual KF and Virtual characteristic at query level ?
Is there any difference (technical properties) in the info object used for virtual characteristic/KF with normal char/ KF ?

Hi,
I do not think there is a way to identify Virtual KF/Char at query level. Because, virt kf/char are available in the Cube but are not updated using the Updaterule/Transformations and are populated at the query runtime. These Chars and KF will have the same technical properties as well.
