in my apple 4s , iOS 8.0.2, character count not working  when texting messages, while in message setting its already on.
i try to restart it and  change setting on /off again on and restart but still character not showing when texting message.,
this is only problem does when upgrade iOS 8.02, before in my old software it was working well .
kindly help me to solve this problem.
thanks

Thank you Malcolm, that was a good idea ... it seems to have improved the text in the messages I;ve received and a slight improvement in the white-on-green of the snet messages.
Sadly did not affect the character count.
I fear it begins to look as if the character count has been overlooked by the designers at Apple and is left "outside" the range of things affected by the accessibility options. What do you think?

  • Blackberry won't receive all split text messages

    I have a blackberry pearl 8130 and its character length for text messages is 140 characters. so when someone sends me a message that is over this length my phone splits it into 2 separate messages. The problem is sometimes I will only receive 1/2 to messages or 2/2 (bot not 1/2). Does anyone know if this is a problem with my phone or with my service provider (I am with vrigin mobile)? also there is only one person that sends me such long messages so could it be a problem with her phone?
    Thanks

    This issue lies at operators end. You better check with them and try to know what policy they maintain on multi-part SMS.

  • Problem seeing character count on iPhone 5c

    Even before up-date today, I cannot see the character count on any messages I send whether to another Apple phone or Android. The button is switched on in settings and I've tried restarting phone after turning it on and then off again. Any suggestions please?  Thanks.

    You won't get the character count if sending as an iMessage, only a regular SMS.

  • How do I dissabe "70 character text message" message?

    Each time I use special characters (à á ä, etc) i get the "70 character text message" and I'd like to disable it because I got the idea.....  I don't really mind the fact that my txts get divided or have less characters i just wanna stop having that msg each time i write a txt msg....
    EDIT:  apparently there's is no disable option. But i'd like to know if anyone thinks an update of the msg app could bring a disable option (sorry no idea how this things work)
    Thanks a lot!

    I wouldn't count on that, but I agree, it will be nice to be able to disable this pop up

  • Message application don't show character count - Iphone 4S with iOS7

    Why my iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS 7, don't show character count whwen I type a message?
    Thank you for the answer.

    I have iOS 7 on an iPhone 4s and had the same problem but was able to "solve" it. I turned the character count on in settings like mentioned in the replies above but didn't see character count working. Then I finally noticed it working on a text I was sending. The count appeared in a very tiny light gray font just above the "send" button for sending a message. It is very faint and hard to see when it appears. It'll show like "27/160" for example for 27 characters typed. And the real kicker is that it doesn't appear as soon as you start composing a text. For me the count would appear after about 30 characters had been typed. Sometimes it appears after 27 characters, sometimes after 32. I can't figure out the logic behind when it appears, it's odd.
    But if you changed your setting to have the count on & don't see it, there's a chance that it's probably working and is difficult to see & only appears after a certain number of characters have been typed.

  • Character Count in Message app too pale, I can't see it. Can I make it bigger & black instead of grey

    Character Count in Message app too small and pale, I can't see it.
    (My eyes, like the rest of me, are over 50)
    I have used Settings - Accessibility  to increase font size which is wonderful so now I can read what I'm typing,  but still cant see the character count.
    Can I make the charater count use a bigger font?
    Can I have it black instead of grey?
    ANd can I change the whilte-on-green for sent messages into well constrasted colours (like the old iPhone 3G?) so I can read them too?

    Thank you Malcolm, that was a good idea ... it seems to have improved the text in the messages I;ve received and a slight improvement in the white-on-green of the snet messages.

  • The character count when sending a message doesn't work with the new iOS 5.

    Hi,
    After I upgraded to the new iOS 5, the message counter no longer appears.  I've gone into the settings to verify that it is turned on. I've turned it off and then back on. I've rebooted the phone, but to no avail.  Has anyone else encountered this new "feature"?
    Thanks,
    Allan

    The only way I can get character count back is to disable both iMessage and MMS.  I agree it is annoying.  iMessage only works between iOS 5 devices, and since the whole world does not use Apple products, it's not like I still won't be sending plain old SMS text messages to people.  If you type more then the SMS character limit, AT&T still happily sends it, their servers just truncate it, so the character count feature is hardly an outdated or pointless feature.
    I have been sending fewer and fewer texts though anyway, and using email instead. but this just pushes me further away from texting.  Most of my work texts are to blackberry users, so no iMessaging with them, but having to go back and forth into settings to enable/disable iMessage means I will likely just leave iMessage off all the time anyway.

  • How do I limit the character count in a text field?

    I'm creating a form for co-workers to use when creating web content. I need to restrict their character count for items like headlines, titles, subtitles, etc. Any suggestions on a ready-made form to use out there? And how can I limit those fields so they don't generate content that will then need to be edited down?
    Thanks,

  • Character Counter for a Rich Text Editor

    Version  4.1.1.00.23
    Hello,
    I'm hoping that someone has a solution for a character counter/validation to use on the Rich Text Editor.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi,
    Happy New Year.
    Ok.
    Well, I'm not expert on this, but this peace of code might help you get started.
    Code should go to page JavaScript -> Execute when Page Loads
    var lEditor=CKEDITOR.instances.Px_YOUR_EDITOR;
    lEditor.on('contentDom', function() {
    lEditor.document.on('keyup', function(e) {
    var len=lEditor.getData().replace(/<[^>]*>|\s/g, '').length;
      /* do here something. JavaScript valiable "len" holds editor text length e.g. */
    /* alert(len); */
    Replace Px_YOUR_EDITOR with your editor name.
    I do not have any idea does it work on all browser. I did test with Firefox.

    Jari

  • Text/Character Counter

    It quite annoys me that the iPhone doesn't have this very simple feature.
    Because you can type 'normally' with a full keypad available, I find it very easy to write long text messages that may span 2 or 3 texts, which was not the case when I had a non-smartphone before (a stupidphone, I guess).
    I think Apple should introduce a simple, standard feature which counts the characters you have left and then when you use too many for 1 text message, it lets you know.... so just a counter in the corner which may go, 158/1, 159/1, 160/1 and then 1/2, 2/2, 3/2 etc... just so you can tell and shorten the text if you've only just spilled over to text #2.
    This would save me a lot of money over the contract I think... I've probably sent texts that are only a few characters into new text countless times.
    Thoughts?

    Where did I say you would type four rows of uppercase W's? Of course you wouldn't.
    I was simply trying to illustrate that some letters take up much more space than others. Therefore you are still guessing if you use the four line rule.
    Use it if you like but you may still end up with a text that is split into two messages.
    I wasn't arguing. Just pointing out that it's not as clear cut as four lines of text is the limit and explaining the reasons why.

  • The character count in Messaging isn't there

    I've got the character count option turned on in Messaging but I can't see it anywhere on the screen.

    Character count appears ins SMS messages above the Send button once you've typed about 30 characters. It's in light grey so you may have missed it.  It will never appear in iMessages because they have no character limit.

  • Move text from one column to another depending on character count

    Hello,
    I am trying to find a way to have text start in a specific column depending on the character count.
    Basically our site will have 3 columns. For example if the text only has about 300 Characters - it would start in the right column. If it had between 301 & 600 characters - it would start in the middle column and run to the right column. If it had more than 601 characters - it would start in the left column and run to the middle then right column.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    James

    If you look at the String class you can probably devise a series of steps to do what you want using some basic logic.  The String class has a length property that tells you how many characters it contains.  Assuming you wouldn't want to split words, you could use something like the indexOf method to find the nearest blank space following the 300th character.  Then you would be wanting to build different strings for the different segments you create.
