Character Length in the Alias Naming

Is there a limitation to character length in the alias of a member name?

Thanks, Was running into issues and thought this to be the case, just did not know the exact limitation!

  • I had set my passcode by pressing 1 repeatedly till it filled the passcode box. I dont know how many times I have pressed 1. Can someone tell me the character length of the text box of the Passcode

    Hi,
    My son foolishly pressed a single digit till it just filled the text box of the passcode. Now i dont know how many times he has pressed it. If I can know the charcter length, or how many digits can just fill the text box of passcode, I can unlock my ipad2. If anyone reading this has ipad2, he can do the same thing and count how many digits will just fill the text box. I will really appreciate the help.
    Thanks

    You can put the iPad into Recovery mode and Restore it. See this link and note the sentence commencing, 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page.

  • Use 2 character sets in the same sapscript form (1100 & 4030)

    Is this possible or I need to make a new character set and then make the changes that I need.
    For example:
    The 'Field group' character is usually hex 1D. The problem is
    that hex 1D is not part of the printer character set 1100 . So
    a lot of changes are necessary:
    - Copy your device type in the customer naming room (transaction SPAD,
    Utitities - For device types - Copy device type).
    - Check, which character set your device type uses (transaction SPAD,
    device type).
    - Copy the character set to the customer naming room (SPAD - Character
    set ; customer naming room: 9xxx)
    - Call SPAD - Device Type and put the new character set into all three
    fields at 'Printer character sets'.
    - Now go into your new character set (SPAD - character set , Button 'Edit
    character set '). Unfortunately the character 'Field group'  doesn't
    exist yet. So you should select a character which you don't need and
    which you can 'misuse' as 'Field group' . Let's say, you don't need
    the character 'Thorn'. Then you
    have to add/change the entry of character 354,
    if you want to use the Thorn character for the 'Field group' .
    Here you must insert the sequence '1D' to get the 'Field group'  character .
    Now if you write <354> in the Sapscript layout set in the old
    editor or if you press 'Insert command' in the new editor
    and insert SAP character 354, a 'Field group'  should be inserted
    at that place in the print data.

    The Function Module CLOSE_FORM has an optional TABLES parameter called OTFDATA that can be filled with the contents of the document instead of printing.
    To do this, you must set the field TDGETOTF = 'X' in the OPTIONS structure that can be supplied as an optional parameter to Function Module OPEN_FORM when the document is opened for output.
    This table contains the OTF format data that describes your SAPscript document. Normally the SAPscript compositer would print this to an external printer or fax or email, but once captured in your program you can do anything you like with this information.
    For instance, you can convert OTF data to a PDF file using SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_PDF. See the many threads on this topic in the ABAP Development forum if you are interested.
    I hope this hint is helpfull to you. Good luck.

  • How can I increase the viewable filename length on the desktop?

    Is it possible to increase the character length of the viewable filename items on the desktop?  For example, if I create a screenshot, the filename for the generated image is: "Screen shot yyyy-mm-dd at XX.XX.XX AM.png" but the desktop shows "Screen shot yyyy...M.png."  I would like to increase the filename character count so that more of the filename appears before it is trimmed with the ellipses.
    Can this be done?
    Update: I have alredy increased the grid spacing. That helps but only exposes 2-3 more chars.

    Yeah, you're right.  But font size definitely does something for me.  Here's a comparison between 12 and 10 point.

  • "SOME" devices can resolve the ALIAS (CNAME record) for a device, but not the REAL name (A record) - Why? How do I fix this?

    I'm running the DNS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2 on a physical machine on my home network.
    My AD is configured with a non-registered name - let's say it's "home.acme.ca" and the DNS server is configured to host that zone.  I also configured a 2nd zone in the DNS server called "myinf.acme.ca".  They both run on a physical
    server with an IP of 192.168.1.10
    The DHCP server on my Cable Modem is configured to hand out 192.168.1.10 as the only DNS server to every device on my network.  On my servers (with static IP addresses), 192.168.1.10 is configured as the only DNS server available for them.
    I took the DNS servers from my Cable Provider and configured a Forwarder on my server to send name resolution requests to them only if my DNS server can not answer the request - basically for any name resolution request that does not end with ".home.acme.ca"
    or ".myinf.acme.ca"
    The "home.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'A' records for all of the physical and virtual servers and PC's on my network.
    The "myfin.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'CNAME' records that point directly to the 'A' record in "home.acme.ca" - for example, I have a serve named s000abc123ww.home.acme.ca with an 'A' record providing an IP address of 192.168.1.20 and
    I created a 'CNAME' (alias) record named 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' which points to the 'A' record 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca'
    2 of my 6 machines can resolve the alias but not the real name of the server!
    .10 is the Domain Controller.  All of the other machines (except .98) are members of the home.acme.ca domain.
    I attempted to ping 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca' AND 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' on the following 6 computers.  I used the fully qualified name in all cases.
    4 of the below machines are able to resolve BOTH names.  The other 2 can resolve the Alias but not the real name!
    I don't understand how this is possible, but I would like to fix it...!!!  Please help?
    .10 - Server 2012 R2 (Physical) -  Hosts Active Directory and DNS.
    .20 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   -  Runs SQL Server
    .21 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   -  Runs Apache
    .22 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)  -   Runs Apache.  This is the device I am trying to ping (s000abc123ww)
    .98 - Windows 7 (Physical)
    .99 - Windows 7  (Virtual)
    .21 (which is configured nearly identically to .20 and .22) can resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
    .98 can also resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
    The rest of the machines can resolve and ping both the alias and the real name.
    All of the Virtual Machines are running under Hyper-V on the .10 physical server.
    All the devices are on the same subnet.
    Thank in advance to anyone who can help me understand and correct this problem!
    Jim

    Hi,
    CNAME resource records are recommended for use in the following scenarios:
    • When a host that is specified in an A resource record in the
    same zone needs to be renamed
    • When a generic name for a well-known server, such as www, must resolve to a group of individual computers (each with individual A resource records) that provide the same
    service, for example, a group of redundant Web servers
    Therefore please try to create your CNNAM record in the same zone and try again.

  • For all entries Where condition character length partilally has to be used

    Hi,
    I need to fetch all the data reocrds of one internal table into the other with the condition that in one of the field of first internal table only partial length of the character has to be used as a where condition.
    Example:
    Select xxxx
              yyyyy
              zzzzz
    into it_tab2
    for all entries in itab1
    where field2 = itab1-field1(4).
    where field1 of itab1 has length of 8 and field2 belongs to itab2.
    As it throws the error msg :
    it will ignore the length restriction mentioned in where condition of the for all entries

    Hi.
    If you are trying to fetch from any database table based on your modified table use this logic.
    Dfine another internal table same as itab1, with field one lenght as 4 char.
    ex:
    data: begin of it_tab2.
            field1(4),
    end of it_tab2.
    loop at it_tab1.
    it_tab2 = itab1+0(4).
    append it_tab2.
    clear it_tab2.
    endloop.
    now you can fetch from database table....using it_tab2.
    Select xxxx
    yyyyy
    zzzzz
    into it_tab3
    for all entries in itab2
    where field2 = itab2-field1(4).
    If you only want to move the entries form one internal table to another internal table and truncate the field1 of itab1.
    then no need to use any for all entries...
    apply this logic
    data: begin of it_tab2.
            field1(4),
    end of it_tab2.
    loop at it_tab1.
    it_tab2 = itab1+0(4).
    append it_tab2.
    clear it_tab2.
    endloop.

  • Querying CHAR columns with character length semantics unreliable

    Hi again,
    It appears that there is a bug in the JDBC drivers whereby it is highly unlikely that the values of CHAR columns that use character length semantics can be accurately queried using ResultSet.getString(). Instead, the drivers return the value padded with space (0x#20) characters out to a number of bytes equal to the number of characters multiplied by 4. The number of bytes varies depending on the number and size of any non-ascii characters stored in the column.
    For instance, if I have a CHAR(1) column, a value of 'a' will return 'a ' (4 characters/bytes are returned), a value of '\u00E0' will return '\u00E0 ' (3 characters / 4 bytes), and a value of '\uE000' will return '\uE000 ' (2 characters / 4 bytes).
    I'm currently using version 9.2.0.3 of the standalone drivers (ojdbc.jar) with JDK 1.4.1_04 on Redhat Linux 9, connecting to Oracle 9.2.0.2.0 running on Solaris.
    The following sample code can be used to demonstrate the problem (where the DDL at the top of the file must be executed first):
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.*;
    This sample generates another bug in the Oracle JDBC drivers where it is not
    possible to query the values of CHAR columns that use character length semantics
    and are NOT full of non-ascii characters. The inclusion of the VARCHAR2 column
    is just a control.
    CREATE TABLE TMP2

    PreparedStatement ps = null;
    try
    ps = connection.prepareStatement(
    "DELETE FROM tmp2");
    ps.executeUpdate();
    ps.close();
    ps = connection.prepareStatement(

    FYI, this has been mentioned as early as November last year:
    String with length 1 became 4 when nls_lang_semantics=CHAR
    and was also brought up in Feburary:
    JDBC thin driver pads CHAR col to byte size when NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS=CHAR

  • Display instantly the length of the text entered in the rich text editor

    Hi everybody,
    I'm developing an apex application with apex 4.1.1 and Oracle 11.2.
    I have a page in which I have a form that allows to create a new message on the database.
    A message has a title, description, text and date.
    For the text I use the item "rich editor text". The problem is that item doesn't show the length of characters entered (character counter for the textarea). In the database the corresponding column is varchar2(2000). What I do is a validation after submit that checks if the limit 2000 was exceeded or not.
    But what I want to do more is to display instantly the length of the text entered in the editor. I have tried to do that through a dynamic action. But the event "onChange" for the item "rich text editor" didn't work.
    Has anyone any idea about that issue?
    Thanks for helping.
    Kind regards,
    Edited by: Khadija Khalfallah on Apr 25, 2013 4:06 AM

    sorry about that, I missed that tidbit in your OP... well I think there is a good reason why there isn't a count character option -- due to the hidden "html" characters responsible for the "richness" (bold/color, etc) applied to the text would be difficult to count true characters.. if I was bent on doing this, I'd continue using the item you are using, but have a HIDDEN text area that is updated via javascript onkeyup for each keystroke (again, keeping in mind you'd have to filter certain keys) and then that intelligence could be used. I would probably dig through the javascript responsible for the rich text editor (is it still fckeditor??) -- there might already be code in there that isn't clearly visible to you that does this already.. alas, I see now the validity of your challenge.

    Hi All,

    Checked in SDN, but no answer.
    Need your expert solution, to resolve.
    With Regards,
    Sekhar

    Thank you Des, for immediate response.
    But i have already gone through the Note.
    As we are using ghe standard datasources, can you suggest which option should i use to resolve.
    Solution
    If the field is not manipulated in the customer exit or elsewhere, no
    processing is required.
    If you change the field, the following possible solutions are available:
    1. You can make sure that the number of the characters does not
    increase after the manipulation.
    2. If you can change the extract structure of the DataSource without
    affecting other scenarios (for example, if it was generated in
    transaction RSO2), you can increase the length of the DEC field (or
    CURR, QUAN) there to the next odd character (in the example above:
    from DEC 4 on DEC 5).
    3. If neither of these solutions are possible, you can use a customer
    append that contains a relevant DEC field (or CURR, QUAN) with the
    next highest odd length. This can be used for the result of the
    calculations. This means that you do not have to manipulate the
    previous field.

  • Oracle 11g special character(á) length count

    Hi Experts,
    I'm facing an issue while inserting the special character (á) in Oracle 11g. The database table length for the column 'descr' declared as varchar2(30). I'm inserting a string ('Aabbccee/ddffggh Ffrán y Plaos') in column descr which is having the length 30. Please note the character 'a' in Ffrán is not letter 'a' but special character *'á'*. It gives the below error,
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12899: value too large for column ""DESCR" (actual: 31, maximum: 30)
    The strange is the same query works/insert in Oracle 9i without any issue. I suspect the special character *'á'* will take/count as 2 character in Oracle 11g but single character in Oracle 9i.
    Please provide the insight views and solution for this issue with out altering the column length.
    I hope the solution at the earliest, since this is an urgent requirement.
    Thanks.

    Your 9i database has character set WE8ISO8859P1 which is a single byte characterset.
    But on 11g, you're using AL32UTF8 - a multi-byte unicode characterset.
    Obviously with a multi-byte characterset, characters which took up a single byte might now need multiple bytes.
    So the default meaning of VARCHAR2(30) which is VARCHAR2(30 BYTE) may not be sufficient to hold 30 characters.
    Assuming that you want to use the different characterset - (and if not then you might as well rebuild your 11g database with the 9i characterset), then you need to do is to change your LENGTH SEMANTICS to CHAR not BYTE.
    This means two things.
    1. Changing NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS to CHAR via ALTER SYSTEM. I believe this needs a restart to take effect. This will affect newly created column definitions so that VARCHAR2(30) means VARCHAR2(30 CHAR) not VARCHAR2(30 BYTE) - so for changes going forward.
    2. Changing existing column definisition via ALTER TABLE xyz MODIFY colname VARCHAR2(30 CHAR) etc.

  • Convert all VARCHAR2 data types to character length semantics

    Hi,
    I am wondering if there is an easy way to convert all columns in the database of data type VARCHAR2(x BYTE) to VARCHAR2(x CHAR)?
    Regards
    Håkan

    The DMU does not allow character length semantics migration for the following type of objects:
    - Columns already in character length semantics
    - Data dictionary columns
    - Columns under Oracle-supplied application schemas
    - CHAR attribute columns of ADT
    - Columns in clusters
    - Columns on which partition keys are defined
    Please check if the disabled nodes you observed in the wizard fall under one of these categories.

  • Can you have a mailbox named Admin AND a postfix alias named Admin that goes to one or more other actual mailboxes?

    My question is re: Mail service in Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server 10.6. Can you have an actual mailbox named Admin AND a postfix alias named Admin that goes to one or more other actual mailboxes?  Or is only one or ther other?  I have customer who currently has a bunch of mailboxes (info, admin, etc.) and those that need access to it do so via Mail client, etc.  Now they are asking about aliases so they dont have to all access same mailbox, requiring setup, etc.  Do I have to delete actual mailboxes in order to create Postfix aliases (admin, info, etc) or can they coexist?
    Thanx in advance,
    Eric

    Thanx Camelot.
    Leads to me more questions, if you would be so kind.  The client uses Virtual Hosts on Mac OS X Server and the aliases they desire are all @virtual_domain.com.  So, do I create aliases via /etc/postfix/virtual or via /etc/postfix/aliases.  As I said before, they desire aliases that go to at least 2 if not more actual local server accounts/mailboxes, but aliases are @virtual_domain.com.
    For example: admin is local account on server @ main_domain.com.  Now they want alias admin@virtual_domain.com that goes to local accounts Bob, Susan, etc.
    Thanx again!

  • How set maximum character length in Fxml

    Hey can any body help me set Maximum character length in Fxml.
    thanx in advance

    I wrote my own TextField.
    I can't give you the code right now, but it's easy to create it by yourself.
    0 - create a private method that deletes any unwanted char/s: restoreRightLength();
    1 - Add a listener on the textProperty of your TextField/TextArea that calls restoreRightLength() method.
    2 - Override  the following methods:
    @Override
    public void replaceText(int start, int end, String text) {
    super.replaceText(start, end, text);
    restoreRightLength();
    @Override
    public void replaceSelection(String text) {
    super.replaceSelection(text);
    restoreRightLength();

  • Extend character length of an idoc segment

    Hello Gurus,
    Our client requires a longer character length for NAME2 and STRAS. SAP standard is that character length for this is 35. Is there a way to extend the length of these idoc segments? Thanks in advance.

    About which IDOC are you talking?
    And why do you need more characters?
    If you are talking about CREMAS vendor or DEBMAS customer,
    then you should consider the ADRMAS Idoc as well.
    Because addresses are stored in central address managment tables sind 4.6 release.
    CREMAS and DEBMAS do not support central address management.
    Please read OSS note 306275 and 384462 for migration of addresses
