Character not rendering as it should

I'm running OS X 10.9.2 on my MacBook Air and I'm having problems inserting a particular character into documents. In Character Viewer, it is U+2263, "STRICTLY EQUIVALENT TO", and it displays as three horizontal, parallel lines. However, when I insert the character into any document (including this post), I get this: ≣ (four parallel lines). I've tried the various Unicode fonts I have installed, but it won't budge from Menlo Regular.
Any tips on how to use the glyph that displays in Character Viewer would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Best,
doonyakka

All standard fonts, including Cambria Math, STIX, Apple Symbols, Menlo, have this character as 4 lines on my machine.  If you really want 3 lines, you have to use a Chinese font. Or use 2261, Identical To.  You should be able to see this for yourself in the Font Variation pane at the bottom right of the full Character Viewer.

  • Character styles & Body paragraph style not rendering as specified

    Hi, I am creating my first epub, and am using InDesign CS 5 (no intention of upgrading). I've constructed it as a book, each chapter in its own file. I am encountering two problems I am unable to think my way out of:
    1. None of the three character styles are rendering as they should.
    -"Bold" text is rendering much larger than "Body" paragraph style, even though both are specified at 18 px.
    -"Bullet" renders as UL, but at a much smaller point size than "Body" despite being specified as 18px.
    -"Ital" is also rendering a much larger font size than is should.
    2. I don't seem to be able to affect spacing between "Body" paragraphs, or below h1, etc.
    Any insights? Any help?

    Hi charlesmoizeau, why do you want to install Firefox 18? To be compatible with a particular website or add-on? There might be a better workaround, but without the details, it's hard to say.

  • RegExp not working like it should

    Maybe I just need another pair of eyes looking at this, but I have a RegExp instance that should work according to multiple tools on the web but it's not matching when it should in my application.  The expression should match if there isn't any leading or trailing spaces.  Here's a code snippet:
    var regexp:RegExp = new RegExp("^\S.*\S$|^\S(?!.)", "s");
    if(regexp.exec("Hello World") == null)
         trace("NO MATCH");
    Using tools such as Grant Skinners RegExr (http://gskinner.com/RegExr/) it appears that the previous code should get a match.  Does anyone see an issue or know why it isn't working?

    Hi All,
    while assigning value to a RegEx in constructor itself, we can either specify pattern (for which we need not  escape already escaped character)
    like
    var regexp:RegExp = new RegExp(/^\S.*\S$|^\S(?!.)/s)
    or we can specify a string (for which we need to escape already escaped characters)
    like
    var regexp:RegExp = new RegExp("^\\S.*\\S$|^\S(?!.)","s")

  • Adobe Form in HRFORMS: Value of Textfield on Masterpage is not rendered!

    Hi all,
    I design a new form using HRFORMS. When I put a simple textfield on a master page and give the textfield a default value and render my form using transaction PC00_M01_CALC_SIMU, the value of the textfield is NOT rendered.
    I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 within SAP and the Adobe Acrobat 7.0.9 for rendering PDF documents.
    The ADS Server Version is: 800.20070708051308.406522
    The funny thing is, if you do the same things in Adobe Designer (stand-alone) it works perfectly as it should.
    Is this a known bug?
    Thanks.
    Maik

    I have figured out myself.
    It is a bug in SAP and has also been reported as a bug to SAP.
    It works fine with all Adobe Designer stand-alone versions as well as Adobe LiveCycle Forms Server 7 and 8.
    As a workaround in SAP you should use STATIC TEXT with "FLOATING FIELDS" instead of TEXT FIELDS.

  • HTML not rendering properly - PDF is fine

    Using MS Word to create an RTF template for BI Publisher. I've created what I want, and I looks great in PDF format and also as a PPT. In HTML and Excel formats, I get odd results:
    (1) Any centered line of text is cast toward the right of the page instead of centered on the page. In Word, PDF, and PPT, the centered text shows up properly. In HTML and Excel, it's shoved to the right, but not right-justified. In fact, if I have two centered lines of text, they will be centered vertically on each other, with that vertical center bisected by what should be the right edge of the page.
    (2) Charts are not displaying in the HTML preview in Word. However, the Charts are displaying when viewed in BI Publisher itself.
    (3) I've added a border around each chart by highlighting the chart in Word, then right-click...Borders and Shading... and applying a 1pt black box around the chart. This renders properly in PDF. It does not render in HTML.
    (4) I have two charts side-by-side on the screen. Each chart is resting inside a cell of a one-row, two-column table. That table is displayed with no borders. In PDF, it renders everything properly - no table borders shown. In HTML, the left chart renders properly - out in space, no table border. But the right chart has table borders around it. The table borders are shown for both columns, with the right-side chart sitting in the left-side table box, and the right-side table box visible to the right of the right-side chart.
    I've also included a table of data that renders properly in all environments.
    I can send screenshots and the HTML page code to anyone who would like to take a look. I could post it here, but it's pretty large.
    Thanks!

    I share your frustration about things not working as they should. You may try logging TAR for each of your complains, making them to log bugs. IMHO, no other company, even Microsoft, would ever dare to make such a big bruhaha about such a buggy and unmature tool as XMLP/BIP. But Oracle is now too advanced, and they know users will eat up everything.
    For immediate help, I would only suggest to build everything around tables. For example, create 1 line 3 row table and put the header in the middle cell. For borders, try experimenting with line patterns and width.

    Hi Didier,
    Sorry, intermittent problem is not very descriptive ! What I actually meant is that some of my applications have the problem while others dont. Once the problem exists, it always does regardless of restarting JDeveloper.
    Starting JDeveloper using the console provided similar error message to outputting the JSP visual editor to the log file :
    SEVERE: Element End name:head does not match start name:script
    04-Dec-2009 17:28:38 oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.io.HtmlResponseWriter endElem
    ent
    SEVERE: Element End name:html does not match start name:div
    Reading other posts, problems seemed to stem from errors within the faces-config or web.xml files so I compared them between apps displaying pages correctly and ones that weren't. I found a difference in the filter-mapping section of the web.xml. Changing the entries to match the applications that displayed correctly has worked !!
    The entries for the apps that didn't display correctly :
        <filter-mapping>
            <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
            <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>

        </filter-mapping>Somehow the filter-mapping entries for the adfFaces and adfBindings filter got all screwed ? Strange as the application has always worked fine, the only (obvious) problem has been the jspx pages not rendering properly in design view.
    Once updating the web.xml with the correct value for these two entries, the pages are displayed correctly :)
    While I don't like blindly making changes like this to the web.xml - the application still seems to function !

  • Special characters pasted from Word doc not rendering in Adobe Reader

    We have recuiters who have copy/pasted special characters from MS-Word into a new eRecruiting requisition (the text contained square bullets from a bulleted list).  When pasted into the requsition, the Adobe pdf displays those characters as "-,," to the recruiter.  When end users then display the PDF, the results are inconsistent.  Some desktops render the text without displaying bullets, and others show an Adobe Reader popup: "The Japanese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly".
    I am wondering what device settings are causing these differences and if there is a solution to display the special characters.
    Thank you.

    Hello Tim,
    to make things short, although this is probably not very satisfying, you should prevent all your end users from copying text from word into an e-recruting application. Word contains tons of non-printable characters and as SAP uses completly other code-pages than windows everything can happen when these characters are loaded into sap.
    Be aware that this is not only effecting the formating. It took me 2 weeks last year to find out that a single posting was not found in the job search as one of the "spaces" in a posting text was in real a special character which made the TREX abort indexing on this publication documents.
    If you like bullet point lists in your publications there are ways to work with escape characters, we usally use the # character. So the recruiter types flow text and if he likes bullet points he just starts his paragraphs with # and then the publication transforms them automatically into bullet points. If you are quite familiar with smartforms adding this takes perhaps a day. If you want I can link some customer publication example and add some guidance how to build this.
    Best Regards

  • Page not rendering correctly

    I have a site I am going to that is not rendering properly, instead of seeing a standard page I see a list of links, followed by pictures. Kind of like you usually see on a "Site Map" page. I have contacted the webmaster and he says it does render properly on his safari. It does render properly for me in FF, so I figure it has to be something in my setup. I have disabled all extensions, enabled Java and JS, no go.
    Here is what I am seeing on Safari (6.0.5):
    Here is how it should render:
    Thoughts?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • PDF not rendering correctly

    Hi
    Can anyone help? I am using an iMac and have had a pdf emailed to me. When I login on to the site and select the PDF to view, it is not rendering correctly.
    I am not a technical person but to me it appears to open as a series of code, letters, numbers and symbols.
    Any ideas how to rectify this?
    Is it Adobe related or can I update the settings for the browser? I am using Safari.
    Thanks

    what OS & Safari version ?
    Often, removing any 'pdf' plugins in
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    and
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    then restarting the browser will solve pdf display issues, although in this case, it sounds as if the site is telling Safari that these are text type files & it's attempting to display them accordingly.
    Disabling plug-ins via Safari - Preferences - Security should also eliminate pdf plug-ins as a cause.

  • KM, HTML file, Not rendering correctly

    Hi Everyone
    I have an html file that is stored in knowledge management.  The html file references few folders/images that are also stored in KM. When I create a KM Document iView, the HTML file shows; however, the various images/style sheet that is stored along with the html file KM do not appear.  Thus the html file is not rendering properly.
    With this being said, I can create an URL iview and everything works as it should (the html file appears correctly with the necessary images).  The problem is that I am developing a solution for an external and internal facing portal, thus the URL iView option is not going to work for me.  I need to have a way for this KM html iView to display properly...perhaps with the KM Document iView template.
    Has anyone encountered an issue such as this and can offer assistance.  Again, the KM Document iView template will work, if the html file it is calling in KM can correctly reference other folders in KM that contain various images/style sheets that are a part of the html file.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Scott

    Hi Scott.
    In order to solve your problem with relative links to image and css files inside KM I suggest two variants:
    1. Replace relative links as I mentioned in this message Re: JavaScript and CSS info in WPC.
    2.The second solution is:
    a. Create an blank html file inside KM folder where the base.html file is stored.
    b. Download the newly created file for local editing.
    c. Place an iframe that points to your base html file between <BODY></BODY> tags. Use a following code as an example:
    <iframe width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="base.html"></iframe>
    d. Upload this file back to KM.
    e. Point your KM Document  iView to the created html file.

  • SingleSelectionBean is not rendering the child bean to the right

    Hi,
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.2. I am using singleSelectionBean as the tableSelection clhild of a table. And I have a button as the child of the singleSelectionBean. But the singleSelection is not rendering the button to the right side of the control bar. Which it should do automatically. Can somebody explain why it is not doing so for me?
    Thanks.

  • Graphics plain 2D objects are not rendered while an action occurred!!!

    Hi, I am designing a game in Swing. Currently I am designing the maze for this game. The maze is generated by using Depth First Search algorithm. In my main JFrame, I have some JPanel. One JPanel, named mazePanel contains the maze. There are some other JPanel also, which contains the JButton for controlling. Following is the mazePanel code.
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import javax.swing.BorderFactory;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    public class MazePanel extends JPanel {
        private MazeGenerator mazeGenerator;
        private boolean startNewMaze = false;
        public MazePanel() {
            setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Maze"));
            setToolTipText("This is the maze");
        public void addNewMaze() {
            startNewMaze = true;
            mazeGenerator = new MazeGenerator();
        @Override
        public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
            super.paintComponent(g);
            if (startNewMaze) {
                mazeGenerator.generate(g);
                startNewMaze = false;
    } There is one JButton, which calls the method mazePanel.addNewMaze() and set the Boolean startNewMaze to true. After setting the startNewMaze, maze should be generated. i.e. mazeGenerator.generate(g) is inside if() condition. Method mazeGenerator.generate(g) recursively draw the random maze. That is why I don’t want to run this method not more than once.
    Up to this everything is looking fine. But while I am running the main JFrame and clicks on the JButton, maze is not rendered in the mazePanel. Sometimes when I minimize and maximize the JFrame, maze rendered (might be because of repaint() occur). Even if I comment mazeGenerator.generate(g) inside if() condition and put some g.drawString(). The string is not rendered while action performed (i.e.Pressing JButton).
    Where is the problem? Please help.
    Thank you.

    This kind of thing sounds simple but in reality is fairly tricky. I dealt with these kinds of situations for years while learning java, and still sometimes do.
    You only posted a snippet of your code, from which we can't go through and debug what your problem is, but I would just say that this is the general pattern
    1. Receive the event to create a new board. This can in reality be any event that will cause your UI to change
    2. Do whatever processing you need to do to get your Component ready to be painted again. You can do short jobs on the UI thread. For longer jobs, look at the SwingWorker class
    3. When you are done processing and ready to redisplay, call repaint() on your Component. Make sure after you call repaint() that any work being done on the UIThread finishes, so that this thread can then handle the repaint request
