Character window empty in CS2

I recently had to reinstall Ill. CS2 because of a disk crash. My O.S. is Windows XP SP2. Everything worked fine then but I haven't used the program in about 2 weeks. When I started the program today, I noticed that the character window was empty. The properties window (italic, bold, etc.) displayed o.k. as did the size window. I get the font preview in the 'type' menu and it will scroll. The problem is when opening a document that was done previously, I can't identify the font by placing the cursor in the text.
I have Illustrator CS3, so I have to open the document there in order to find out what the font is.
Any ideas?

Did you reset the prefs? Holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift during startup should do the trick. Other than that, go looking for instances of AdobeFnt.lst files and delete them. These cache files may not reflect the latest changes and have wrong font info, deleting them will enforce a rebuilt. Also, just to be on the safe side, delete any additional fonts you don't currently need to speed up the process and prevent further mishap.

I’m having an issue with Illustrator CS5 since I upgraded to Yosemite. When I go to the character window to select fonts they are not displaying the names correctly or to put it a better way they’re not showing at all!
When I scroll up and down the list only the highlighted (where the cursor is positioned) font name and preview will show up as expected, oh and a few random font names. (please see attached image, although strangely the highlighted area is showing blank on this screen grab)
I had to update the Java in order to get this version of illustrator working on Yosemite, could there be a connection to that?

Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.

Try trashing the .plist in Home/Library/Preferences which has CharacterPalette in its name.

REQ: Fix the *&^%$#@ CS6 Character window's font list!

I have better things to do with my time than click-and-hold on that stupid little arrow and wait a few hours for it to snail-crawl through my hundreds of fonts to the one I want.
InDesign and Photoshop both have proper scroll bars in their versions of the Character window. Why the *&^%$#@! doesn't Illustrator?

It means that those mailboxes are offline. If you didn't put those mailboxes offline, yourself, then it's usually indicative of a problem connecting to the mail server.

Somehow I'm pretty confident that I'm understanding you a lot better than you understand my post.
I understand you are using an ME version of Photoshop, so you need to be able to write both from left to right and from right to left. You seem to be having problems reversing direction from one of the menu items, and those problems arise when you work with very large files.
What I am telling you is that what may be precipitating those problems in large files is the very little hard drive space you have left in your one and only drive you have designated as your primary scratch disk, as evidenced by your screen shot:
Since that drive "OS X" appears to be also your boot drive, that means that the paltry 12 GB of HD space you have left on that drive will have to be shared by Photoshop's scratch disk with the swap files of the OS. That is not enough, in my opinion.
I like to reserve a dedicated hard drive with 160 GB for Photoshop's scratch disk alone.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is

OSX 10.8.5 CC Desktop App window empty

Hi,
I have the following problem. I used After Effects CC for a customer project and wantet to browse the text animation presets. The system told me, that Bridge is not installed. After logging in at the Adobe CC homepage and clicking on the download button for Bridge I got the message: Unknown Server Error.
I than followed the steps on the adobe page to solve the problem and updatet the CC desktop app to the newest version. After that the app window simply stays complete empty / blank. Several restarts, deinstallation and reinstallation of the desktop app did not help. The window is still empty.
When I now click on the Bridge download button and accept opening with CreativeCloud(URIHandler) with another click, nothing happens. The window is empty and I cannot install anything.
I also tried the second solution on the CC page with deleting the opm.db file in the folder: Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
But unfortunately there is no file with that name...?
The system, java etc. is also updatet to the latest versions
Please help.

I have quit and reopened the cc app several times without success.
Meanwhile I deleted the complete OOBE folder, deinstalled the CC application and installed again. Nothing changed.
When I turn off networking, the app works like expected and I can see the relevant menue with all menue points. But without network I cannot use them. When I turn on internet access again, the window remains blank after searching and probably finding network.
At the moment I cannot launch any CC application because the system identifies me as a test-user - at least that is what I think. If I could login using the cc desktop app, the programs should start as normal. But unfortunately the window is still blank.

How to add one more character in selection [JS] [CS2]

I am wondering the way to add one more character in my selection.
I have a script which adds the xml Element and parent xml Element in selected text so far so good, but further my expectation is to cut this text with tag and paste it into anchored frame but in selection it won’t add the closing tag of parent tag.

How to test if particular character is empty in a row

Requirement : To split the input file into two files .
If the length of the row is 93 characters and the condition is If characters from 28 to 32 are empty then create a file with the name PCO1 .txt else create a file with the name PCO2 .txt
Please let me know how to test in a row if particular character has certain value or from 28 to 32 are empty .

IF line+27(5) EQ space.
==> positions 28-32 have no value (i. e. all characters are spaces)
ELSE.
==> positions 28-32 have some value
ENDIF.
some explanation:
line+27(5) ==> this means: 5 characters after position 27

File Info (Exif) window empty and locks CS4

Greetings. In Photoshop CS4, my File>Info window is now blank (empty) and modal, i.e., I must close Photoshop via Task Manager (Windows 7).

The XMP thumbnail is probably what is getting used in this case. Even for images saved without Maximize Compatibility, the Ardfry PSD Codec can use the image in the XMP for the thumbnail if it's present. Recent versions of Photoshop allow you to choose whether to save a thumbnail image independently of whether or not Maximize Compatibility is set.
However, larger thumbnails and viewing a large image in the preview pane (as well as Windows Photo Viewer and Windows Media Center) are dependent on having the flattened image available. The same behavior is found with Preview on the Mac.
If any bit of your workflow is non-Adobe, then setting Maximize Compatibility is probably a good idea.

Works for me too, but if you're seeing the troubles in Explorer, try putting in a target window name (it's one of the top entry fields in the action palette). Right now, looks like they're all blank, and Explorer is more picky about that than other browsers.
For the target window name, just enter anything you want as long as it follows these rules: only use letters, numbers and underscores (no spaces, punctuation or special characters), and the first character should be a letter (not number).
You can either give them all unique names, or all the same name. If someone leaves a window opened and then opens another, it'll open into the same window if they have the same name (without resizing), or will launch a new window if they have different names.

Thumbnails in Import Window Empty for Nikon D90

I recently acquired a Nikon D90 and it is working well with Aperture except in one regard. When I turn the camera on and the import window appears the thumbnails are always empty (just the dashed outline shows). I don't see this with my other cameras. I had hoped yesterdays update to Camera Raw support might fix it but it did not.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem but it seems to be linked to whether you shoot in RAW or RAW+JPG. If you go for the later you get the thumbnail preview. For RAW only you get nothing. I'm assuming the thumbnail is only referencing the JPG.

Use horizontal gutter between the UI elements you will get it as you want.
