Characteristic as data provider authorization

Hi all,
Well, as the title says we got a char used as data provider and it has some query. The problem is that I dont know how can I do to give authorizations to users. I have tried with the S_RS_COMP, but that one requires an infoobject and also I have tried with RSSM making it relevant for authorizations... but it seems it works only with values.
Can someone help please?

Yes need to use S_RS_COMP ,S_RS_COMP1 and S_RS_IOBJ authorization objects.Under S_RS_IOBJ--> you have the following
Activity 03
Info object < IOBJ NAME>
Info object catalog < IOBJ CATA>

we are currently starting to use the BI Portal. I want to publish a Query, which really works fine in BEx Analyzer, in the Portal using a Web Template.
So I used the BEx Web Application Designer to create a Template where I just inserted the Analysis Item with my data provider.
In BEx Web Application Designer I get the warning "W25 The Characteristic %NV% is not found in data provider XXX" - and when I open my Query in the Portal I get the dump message

XML Data Provider - Information

Hi!
I am using the web item "Data Provider - Information" in the WAD to get a query result in XML. When i choose view source in the explorer i can see the XML generated.
My problem is that this generated XML generates one "XML set" for the characteristics in the query and one "XML set" for the key figures in the query.
By this i mean that when i copy the xml from the "view source" file and save it as its own XML file i have to save it as one file for the Key Figures and one file for the Characteristics.
Like this(Characteristic OMaterial and KeyFiure NetValue):

Hey, sounds like you're getting pretty close. The next thing is integrating the XSLT transform into a web template. I'm actually working on a paper on this that I'll put out at some point. Anywho, here's a sample template that does the XSLT transform on load of the page... The most important thing is that the web template has property "STATELESS=X" so that any navigation you do reruns the transform. This way, you can still navigate and do BW type activities while still transforming the result set. This is very powerful and you'll be able to change or do anything using XSLT transforms. I'm even working on creating javascript functions that run these transforms to do left outer joins and inner joins based on 2 XML result sets. This way, even if data isn't modeled together, it can be presented together. I'm working through the kinks of some of these transforms. Also, I'm working to integrate stylesheet support into my transform as well. Just substitute your transform into the sample template below and it'll render an html table for the XML Query Result Set.

Providing authorization for parameter transaction

hello all,
I have created a parameter transaction for a table maintainance generator(table a z-table). the requirement is, we want to provide authorization only for few users so how can we go forward...

When you are parametrizing any TCoe then there is no changes happen in the Authorization checks from the original. So you need to take care this in the following way:
1. Go to table TDDAT and find out the Authorization Group of that z-table. If nothing found, please create a Custom Auth group and assign the table to that grp in SE54.
2. Now go to the role through which you want to provide access to that table to the users or create a new role and add the Parametrized Tcode in the menu of the Tcode.
3. In authorization data, please assign the Authorization group for that particular table in S_TABU_DIS and provide the activity as per your requirement.
4. Assign the role to the users.

I am trying to use two different data provider in my web apps to run two different queries from the same table ,the data provider A is working correctly but when I attempt to run data provider B ,It display an error page ,here is the error message : Exception Details :javax.servlet.ServletEx ception

You can use more than one data provider in your application. However if you have defined a dataprovider for a particular table already, and wish to bind a component, select the component and use its context menu to Bind to Data...

Error while generating Data provider

We are facing a weird issue while using Design Studio 1.2. Locally the tool works fine but when we use it from BI-Launchpad or through BI Enterprise it gives intermittent error "Error while generating Data Provider"
Same setup works fine in our Validation Environment.
We have tried running repair for Design Studio, redeploy the war files, creating new view but issue still exist.
We have BI 4.0 SP7 installed on Windows 2008 R2 system.
4 CMS running in cluster, Design Studio 1.2 is installed on 3 Nodes out of 4.
For now we are using 1 tomcat to access the system to narrow down the issue.
Experts please help us to resolve this issue.

I am not clear what your data source is, but I recommend checking the PAM https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001013822013E because there are some limitations with Design Studio and BI4.0

Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider

Hi BW World;)
We are on BI 7.0
I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
Is this the normal scenario?
Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
Is this a bug?

You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query.Now the base for Query View is a Query.So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube,but not the Query View.
So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider,but not the query View.
Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

Is it possible to extract the SQL statement from an existing Webi document's data provider using BO SDK? I've searched through the class library but haven't found any information on this yet. If you have done it, could you provide some guidance. Many thanks.

I found the following Java code that might be of some help to you. I realize you are using .NET but this might push you down the right path.
The trick here is to use the Report Engine SDK to get the DataProvider of the DocumentInstance. Then, look at the SQLDataProvider to get your SQLContainer.

Web Template is not able to fetch data from Data Provider

hi friends,
           i have created a reporting agent for a particular query and given all the necessary parameters, defined the variants and activated this and created a scheduling package to this ,assigned my query to the scheduling package
           later in the web template,in the web item tab i maintained the read mode as precalculated web template and the final report on the web is saying web tempalte is not able to get the data from the data provider ,
am i missing any where...
        i look forward to your help ,

I'm trying to write a Crystal Reports XI report that uses a Web Service as the data provider. Report with XLS as a data provider

I have a report which has a XLS spreadsheet as a data provider. Whenever I open the report or refresh the data, the data is displayed very slowly, line by line. I have to wait a few minutes while this happens, until all the data has completed being displayed, then I can continue doing what I am doing in deski. Why is this happening and is there anything I can do to stop this?

I have no clue how to connect the XML containing counting from 10 to 19 as the single node in tree at the selection of label one in list and make its visiblity true.this all are dependent on combobox as on selection of item in combobox will lead to change the dataprovider of tree at runtime. i.e on selecting value one in combobox one.xml should be the data provider for tree control. Can anyone help me on this

Now I have added my tree just below the list and I have saved counting from 10 to 19 in `one.xml`, 20 to 29 in `two.xml` and so on in different XML file. I have no clue how to connect the XML containing counting from 10 to 19 as the single node in tree at the selection of label one in list and make its visiblity true.this all are dependent on combobox as on selection of item in combobox will lead to change the dataprovider of tree at runtime. i.e on selecting value one in combobox one.xml should be the data provider for tree control. Can anyone help me on this

Tachometer in WAD 3.5x - to show Avg of all values in the Data provider

Hi All,
I am creating a tachometer in WAD 3.5x.
Actually the requirement for the tachometer i want to design is that it should display the Average value of the data column that is displayed in the dataprovider(which is a view in this case).
My view (Data Provider for tachometer) contains only one data column, and its Result row contains the Average value for the data column. But when I run WAD, the tachometer doesnot read the result row, instead it reads each of the individual rows and creates a pointer for each record. Whereas as per my requirement, the tachometer should display only a single pointer depicting the average value of all records.
I am trying to suppress all the single value rows and display only the result row in my view, am unable to do so.
Any help would be much appreciated

Just quick thought just try with the swap axis and do the table cross verification..

As per the help in my RnD it is working but it is 7.X Wad just try it in 3.5 hope fully it will works for you..if not please excuse..

How can I do for a row of a query be data provider for a variable?
I need that a value of variable be stored when the user select a row in a query. At the BPS we can do this configuring the variable selector in WIB, and in a WAB how I can do this ?

In this case when I press the key to call other forms I need to wait for the response in the secondary form and then process the result.That is exactly what a "modal JDialog" (or JOptionPane) are used for.
Try it. Create a short demo program. All you need is a JFrame with a single button to show the modal dialog. All you modal dialog needs is a single button to close the dialog. After you show the modal dialog add a System.out.println(...) statement in your code and you will see that it is not executed until the dialog is closed.
Then once you understand the basics you add the code to your real program.
