Characteristics based planning: SNP deployment supports characteristics?

Dear experts,
Does SCM7.0 support SNP deployment with characteristics (configurable products)?
I am aware that SCM7.0 includes PP/DS deployment features that support characteristics, but I must use a SNP deployment method.
Thank you very much.
Edited by: Hector Mediavilla on Sep 26, 2011 1:41 PM

Hello,
It's a pity that the functionality is not supported yet up to the most recent version.
Please check the below contenct from note 1446894:
+Characteristics Based Deployment
SNP Deployment does not support Characteristic based planning. The functional scope of PP/DS Deployment is restricted compared to Deployment in SNP:
- only Deployment Heuristics (no Real-Time Deployment and no Deployment Optimization)
- no Push Deployment
- no Fair Share between stock transfer demands and independent requirements+

  • Inspection characteristics based on material and goup counter

    Hi,
Do we have some function module which would give us inspection characteristics based on material and group counter. I have gone through many posts in this regard but find answers to get inspection characteristics based on inspection lot number.
I do not want to get into quality at all. Is there a FM to get the inspection characteristics based on material and group counter or any related tables would be of gr8 help. T-code QP03 takes material and group counter as input and displays the inspection characteristics. Any input in this regard would be of great help.

    Hi,
Use tables MMAPL , MAPL and PLMK as per your requirement.

  • Characteristic based planning

    Dear all,
what is Pcharacteristic based planning* in SAP, and in what are the main advantages of this planning.
    Thanks in Advacne
    Regards
    raj.

Characteristic based planning is used when you are employing the variant configurator and are performing forecasting. Trying to keep the explanation as simple as possible, a KMAT (configurable material) will contain characteristics which can have different values selected when ordered on a sales document - such as an automobile where color is a characteristic. What characteristics planning does is provide a means to specify what % of the time a particular characteristic value is chosen. In the auto example, you would specify how often the auto is sold in the color red, etc. When you have a forecast in Demand Management at the KMAT level, these values are used in simulated planning, employing any object dependencies you have included in your BOMs and routings. In our auto example, it would help determine the labor hours and component materials that are needed for red automobiles, taking the percentage value in characteristics planning into consideration.
Very complex topic to discuss in a message thread. Hope this helps provide a quick, high level view.

  • Consumption based planning

    Hi,
I need to configure the CBP based on Past consuption data of 3 months and also it should give me future forecast values for 3 months. also I want to use safety stock and Reorder level.
Which MRP type should be used and what are configuration setting required for the same.
Also pl.guide me on What will happen if there is sedden rise in the requirement is any month?
    Thx

    Hi,
MRP supports and helps the MRP controller in the task areas. These tasks include
determining type, quantity and time of the requirement, and scheduling corresponding
procurement elements. The automatic planning run for MRP determines shortage situations and generates the corresponding procurement elements. Possible
procurement elements of MRP are planned orders, purchase requisitions and
scheduling agreement schedule lines. The planned order and purchase requisition are
internal planning elements that can be changed, rescheduled or deleted at almost
    any time.
In in-house production, the system creates planned orders for planning production
quantities. When planning has finished, the system converts the planned orders into
production orders. The system then converts the dependent requirements in the
planned order into reservations in the production order.
In external procurement, the system either creates a planned order or a purchase
requisition for direct planning of external procurement quantities. Whether purchase
requisitions are created for direct planning, or planned orders are created first, you
can use the creation indicator for purchase requisitions/MRP groups in the material
master record on the initial screen of the planning run. When planning has finished,
the planned order must be converted to a purchase requisition, which is subsequently
converted to a purchase order. The advantage of creating a planned order first is
the additional procurement proposal check that is executed by the MRP controllers.
Purchasing can only order the material when the MRP controller has checked the
planned order and converted it into a purchase requisition. Otherwise, the procurement proposal is immediately available for Purchasing.
    Planning Levels of Consumption-Based Planning
Requirements planning takes place at plant level. In other words, the entire stock that
exists in the plant is considered in planning. However, the stocks of individual storage
locations can be excluded from MRP or planned independently. These stocks are then
not included in MRP at plant level. You can also execute requirements planning
for individual MRP areas. You can define the MRP areas yourself. This means
that several storage locations can be grouped together for one MRP area and that
requirements planning can be executed separately from the plant for these MRP areas.
MRP areas enable a differentiation of material requirements planning within a plant.
(MRP areas include the function of storage locations that are planned separately for
    materials requirements.)
Planning Levels for Materials Planning is either
    1. The Plant with Storage locations planned separately.
    2. MRP areas
Basically, MRP areas are optional. You can plan all material requirements without referring to MRP areas.
There are three different types of MRP areas:
    1. Plant MRP areas (obligatory) that are automatically created by activating
planning with MRP areas. Their numbers match the number of the plant. If no
more MRP areas are defined, the plant MRP area covers the entire plant.
    2. Storage location MRP areas that are defined by the storage locations assigned
    to them.
    3. Subcontractor MRP areas that provide planning of the requirement of the
material provided for a subcontractor and are defined by the assignment of
    this subcontractor.
    Prerequisites for Consumption-Based Planning
The following prerequisites must have been fulfilled in order to carry out requirements
    planning for a plant:
Requirements planning for the corresponding plant must be activated in
Customizing for Materials Management under Consumption-Based Planning u2192
Planning u2192 Activate Material Requirements Planning.
    T-code - OMDU
The plant parameters for the corresponding plant must be activated in
Customizing for Materials Management under Consumption-Based Planning u2192
Plant Parametersu2192 Carry Out Overall Maintenance of Plant Parameters.
    T-code - OMI8
In the material master record, you have to maintain the MRP data of the materials
that are subject to automatic planning.
    I hope this may help u !

  • Can any explain APO -DP/SNP production support.

    Hi sap gurus..
this is suresh ,i am new for APO -DP/SNP production support,
exactly what my role and responsibilities in production support, what i can do
please any one healp me i am very thankful to them.
    regards
    suresh kumar

    Hi Suresh,
    In DP/SNP production support,
    1)  You need to monitor business related background jobs on daily/weekly/monthly basis
    2)  You need to analyse and take corrective actions for failed jobs
    3)  Any production related issue, you may receive tickets and accordingly you need to analyse the issue and find out suitable solutions in line with client
    4)  Documentation activities if any needs to be carried out
    5)  For system downtimes/incidents, suitable back ups/job retriggerings needs to be done
    6)  In DP, updation of CVCs/planning book data extraction if any needs to be carried out.

  • Planning version in Characteristic Based Planning?

What is the use of planning version in Characteristic Based Planning?

    Hi Lawrence
Might be completely out of box idea.
If I understood correctly, you want to have this visibility mainly for planner to aware them which version data they are accessing. You could create separate data views for each version and also restrict by authorization.
Once you different versions, you can rename them with versions for example data view name could include version like SNP 104 Weeks (000) and SNP 104 weeks (simulation).
Hope this could help the purpose.
    Thanks

  • Consumption-based Planning Question

    Dears,
I am working on a presentation for a client in order to help them to decide which SAP Planning Tool should be implemented.
Since it is not a production company and it can be considered closer to a wholesale or retail one my question are related to CBP and SCM:
-Is necessary to customize and run the Consumption-based Planning tool in ERP before implementing a SCM tool (either APO or F&R)? Are they independent? Could it be advisable?
-I read in several website that is not possible in MRP to generate Stock Transfer Orders between Storage Location within the same plant. Has CBP the same constraint?
Thank you very much for your help.
    L.C.

    L.C.,
-Is necessary to customize and run the Consumption-based Planning tool in ERP before implementing a SCM tool (either APO or F&R)?
Not exactly.  You will have to do some customization in ERP regardless of whether you additionally implement SCM planning, because all of the execution is done in the OLTP (ERP).
    Are they independent?
If you mean are ERP and SCM independent, the answer is yes, they are independent.  You can run SCM without ERP, and you can run ERP without SCM.
    Could it be advisable?
Good question.  Depends on your point of view. Establishing a new implementation of CBP is a substantial project.  Adding on an implementation of SCM means additional complexity.  The payoff is more features. The client has to choose.
-I read in several website that is not possible in MRP to generate Stock Transfer Orders between Storage Location within the same plant.
Neither MRP nor CBP planning can create stock transport orders, they create stock transport requisitions.  CBP does not have any more or less restrictions than MRP as far as the creation of stock transport orders or stock transport requisitions are concerned. STR/STOs between storage locations became possible starting, I believe, in ECC 5.0.  R/3 4.7 did not support this feature.
Sounds like you are going to need a bit of help with your presentations.  The following site contains quite a few high level presentations about SCM planning you might want to incorporate into your presentation:

  • Takt-based planning. Some questions about the process

    Dear Friends and collegues,
I would utilize takt based planning.
I don't understand the mening of planning segment element, capacity planning element capacity planning visualization and control element.
The SAP library is not clear.
Anyway if I have a line with two stations where material is assembled shoul I create line segments or it's better to create two takts for the main line and do not create segments.

    1) generally, is the BIEE database and application server decentralized with EBS database and application? Both BIEE 10g and 11g version can be integrated with EBS R12?You, shud consider OBI Application here which uses OBIEE as a reporting tool with different pre-built modules. Both 10g & 11g comes with different versions of BI apps which supports sources like Siebel CRM, EBS, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards etc..
    2) In BIEE administrator tool, the first step is to create physical tables. if the source appliation is EBS, is it still needed to create the physical tables? Its independent of any soure. This is OBIEE modeling to create RPD with all the layers. If you build it from scratch then you will require to create all the layers else if BI Apps is used then you will get pre-built RPD along with other pre-built components.
    3) if the physical tables creation is needed, how to complete the data transfer from the EBS source tables to BIEE physical tables? which ETL tool is prefer for most developers? warehouse builder or Oracle Data Integration?BI apps comes with pre-built ETL mapping to use with the tools majorly with Informatica. Only BI Apps 7.9.5.2 comes with ODI but oracle has plans to have only ODI for any further releases.
    4) During data transfer phase, if there are many many large volume data needs to transfer, how to keep the completeness? for example, it needs to transfer 1 million rows from source database to BIEE physical tables, when 50%is completed, the users try to open the BIEE report, can they see the new 50% data on the reports? is there some transaction control in ETL phase?User will still see old data because its good to turn on Cache and purge it after every load.

  • Problem with Hierarchies in BPS- Web-Based Planning Applications

Im trying to use a Web-Based Planning Application in BPS. The Datacolumns consist of a charecterisitc with a hierarchy. this hierarchy is time dependend. The timeframe is set correctly but i still receive an the following error message in my web browser:
"Hierarchy 'Hierarchy_name' is not valid for date 26.06.2004"
Does this error message look familiar to anybody? In the moment I have no clue what went wrong

    Hello Tobias,
I assume you are talking about error message UPC 413 (it always helps to mention the message class and number). Please check table RSHIEDIR. The hierarchy you are using is not valid for the key date you specified (RSHIEDIR-DATEFROM > KEYDATE or RSHIEDIR-DATETO < KEYDATE). If you do not enter a key date in the planning area, the system will always use the system date. So either use a different hierarchy or maintain it differently to be valid on keydate (26.6.2004).

  • Browser based InfoPath form deployed on a Claims based Web Application calling a Secure Web Service via Data Connection

    hi,
We have a Browser based InfoPath Form deployed on a Claims based Web Application. We are tyring to call WCF Services that are secure using Certificates via the Data Connections on Infopath Form.
Earlier we used to get the Data in BCS External List via the WCF Services and the Data Connections used to get the Data from the BCS External List. Due to Performance Issues, we want to remove the BCS External List and straightaway call the secure WCF Services
    via the Data Connections.
    Have anyone implemented this scenario.
    Thanks
    Ram
    Thanks Ram

    Hi Ram,
As these are browser based InfoPath forms, you have two options
    1) Deploy as sandboxed forms
In this case you have to create a secure store application id and then set the credentials for that account.
You then have to export the data connection to Data connections library and modify the .udcx file to utilize the newly created secure store application id.
This may sometime give issues related to sandboxed code service. You have to give permissions on the secure store for the user account which the sandboxed code service is running.
    2) Deploy as administrator approved forms
This would be ideal way of doing things as you have full control over the web request if you write code behind InfoPath forms.
    3) Deploy as a Hybrid solution
    a) Write a full trust proxy solutions (extend SPProxyOperation class and override execute method) and make the web request call inside this and return the response
    b) Invoke above operation from the sandboxed InfoPath form's code behind by SPUtility.RegisteredProxyOperation(four part assembly name, operation args)
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Scheduling agreement with Consumption based planning

    Dear Experts,
    I Have a Scenario,
I need to Bulit a Laptop which is a Finished Material, and the Components like Hardisk, Processor, Ram, Casing, Monitor are my Rawmaterials. By using these rawmaterials we are building the parent material.
My Client requirement is 1) Plan and schedule the requirement
    2) Replenish the stock based on consumption based planning.
    My query is
    1) How should i proceed for mm based procurement ?
    2) Does i need to create scheduling agreement for rawmaterials and and maintain schedule lines ?
    3) For which materials i need to run the MRP ? weather its parent material or Component material ?
    4) What are the sequence of process need to be carried out ?
Required ur valuable inputs on this.

    Hi
Consumption based planning and Scheduling agreement are two different functions.
Consumption-based planning is based on past consumption values and uses the forecast or other statistical procedures to determine future requirements. The procedures in consumption-based planning do not refer to the master production schedule. That is, the net requirements calculation is not triggered either by planned independent requirements or dependent requirement. Instead, it is triggered when stock levels fall below a predefined reorder point or by forecast requirements calculated using past consumption values.
A form of outline purchase agreement under which materials are procured on predetermined dates within a certain time period.
With release documentation (in the standard system, document type LPA)
The schedule lines in the system have internal character. This means that you can change them in any way you wish. The schedule lines stored in the system are not transmitted to the vendor until you explicitly create a scheduling agreement release (which may take one of two forms: a forecast delivery schedule or a JIT delivery schedule).
The release documentation allows you to display the releases transmitted to a vendor over a certain period in order to establish exactly when you transmitted which information to the vendor.
Without release documentation (in the standard system, document type LP)
The schedule lines immediately have official character, i.e. they are immediately transmitted to the vendor the moment you save them (transmission time-spot 4 for messages). There is no release documentation in this case.
It cannot be explained in few lines. You need to study the below link.

  • Which table can we see consumption and forecast values in forecast based planning

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I am working on implementing forecast based planning for Spare parts for my client. They have one Main Plant which do purchase of Spare Parts and through Stock transfers moved to 60+ Plants from where Spares are being sold.
Now I am carrying out SAP trial runs for a set of 160+ materials with various models and want to compare with their existing methodology of requirement calculation.
I want to compile Consumption and Forecast data month wise for these trial materials (160+ materials in 60 Plants) . One way I thought is to go individual Material Master and looks for values in Forecast view. However it is tedious and time consuming.
The table name shows RMCP2 and RM03M for forecast and Cons values, but I could not find the table.
Hence I want to know which table if I can view I can get the consumption and forecast data calculated for quick copying and compilation.
    Thanks and Regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

    Dear Mariano,
    Thanks for your valuable inputs.
Like I could able to get the consumption values for materials using table MVER and fields GSV01,GSV02 etc.,
What field I need refer in table PROP for getting forecast values.
As such I could not see any column where in data are similar to Forecast view.
    Thanks and Regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

  • Smart View for Essbase Not Available in Planning Rapid Deployment

I have successfully deployed EPM 11.1.2.3 by following the steps in the Planning Rapid Deployment guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_planning_rapid_deploy/epm_planning_rapid_deploy.html). However, when I bring up Smart View using a Shared Connections URL of http://<servername>:9000/workspace/SmartViewProviders, I only get connections for Planning and for the Reporting and Analysis Framework. How can a I get a connection for Essbase?

As it turns out, the 11.1.2.3 Planning Rapid Deployment wizard doesn't install Essbase Provider Services, just Planning Provider Services and Reporting and Analysis Provider Services. Until I installed Essbase Provider Services, I wasn't even able to create a private connection to Essbase. I had to run InstallTool.cmd and select "Provider Services Web Application" from the Essbase section of the selection screen. I also had to run the configuration utility and select "Deploy to Application Server" under "Provider Services" in the Essbase section of the selection screen.
After that, I was able to create a private connection to Essbase with this URL: http://<server name>:9000/aps/APS
Although the private connection was now working, the Essbase connection was still not showing up as a shared connection in Excel, when I set the Excel Smart View option for Shared Connections URL to http://<server name>:9000/workspace/SmartViewProviders. I was able to get this working by running the configuration utility again and selecting "Configure Web Server" in the "Hyperion Foundation" section of the selection screen.
I was also able to create an XML file as Celvin suggested, using http://<server name>:9000/aps/APS for the Essbase connection. Thanks for the suggestion!
