Characteristics in column

Hi,
I need to have the following in BI7.0 where C1, C2 and C3 are characteristics K1, K2 are keyfigures. C3-material and K2-qty so that the qty for a particular material is displayed in the column. Also,I need to put K1 before C3.
C1 |C2 | K1 | C3
K2
I amnot able to add K1 before C3 and K2 after C3 in the column. Hence, I don't get the desired result.
How can I have one kefigure before the characteristics and another keyfigure after the characteristics in the column?

Have the report in this format
C1|C2|C3|K1|C3*
here C3 can be hidden and then have a formula variable with replacement path on C3 with characteristic value.

Release strategy characteristics

Hello Experts,
I am looking to have a report / query where I can see the characteristics values for a specific Release strategy combination .
It should show Release Strategy , Group , Release code & their respective Chararcteristics .
I have tried table AUSP, CAWN , T16FS but this does make up the required report .

Hi Lawrei,
It's not a problem to find a report combining the release group, the strategy and the corresponding values, since all reside in the classification system. CL6BN is one way; another report with the characteristics as columns is CL30N - search without assigning any values in the class that you use for release strategies. The resulting list is presented as an ALV report which gives you the options to add columns - here you can add all the characteristics in separate columns. Don't forget to click the pushbutton "Expand multiple values" if you have such characteristics.
Release codes assigned to strategies are stored in another table, T16FS. You can list it using SE16N, then download both to Excel and make a simple lookup using the release group/strategy combination.

Convert Oracle date format masks to Java format masks

Have an application based on Oracle that stores data in text form (for display) and in native date format. It is being migrated to another application with a Java based front end that can only use Java format masks to display the dates in the desired display format.
Is there a way to translate the Oracle format masks to Java? I can do this in SQL or PL/SQL using the database or in Java.
I really don't want to write detailed code to parse the masks, although if parsers are available to take an oracle mask into its metadata (minute, year, etc), it may be possible for me to write the code.
This seems like something that must have been done many times over the years. I would prefer to reuse workable code rather than reinventing the wheel.
To be clear, I do not need to alter data or convert dates shown in string form. Just the format masks so the new app will display dates in the same manner as the old app. Fortunately, both apps handle interpreting the format masks in their native technology, so it is just converting the format mask.

Oracle RDBMS is a data repository & can't automagically change data content for you.

Planning function issue

Hi all,
I have a copy planning function which copies data from version 700 to the user selected version. I am making user select the values of version from the excel dropdown.Now all the possible versions are included in the characteristics restrictions column and default value for version has just value 700.The problem is that when I execute the planning function I get version "xxx" not included in the selection. When I include this version under default values , I can execute the function but it kills the input readiness of the query.
Please let me know where I am going wrong.

Hi,
To execute the function, is it possible for you to create a planning sequence? That way, you would not have to alter your input query to be able to execute your function.

Input-Ready Query

Hey everybody,
I have a problem with designing my input-ready query.
I know that I have to restrict the data that every record can uniquely be identified.
If I define a very strict filter, I can enter plan data.
But if I add only one characteristic to the columns area and execute the query, I get the message:
"The selection on the characteristic XY is to complex for the default value".
What does that mean?
Why can´t I add characteristics to the columns ares?

hi,
Beacuse as the message says its too complex.
If you have 2000 characteristics values or for eg. 0material,
and if you try to take it in columns imagine what will happen.
for that reason if you want to use characteristics in column
you need to restrict it.
as we usally do with time characteristics which are widely
used in columns to restrict the key figs.

Question on Sorting Characteristic in Bex query (3.5)

I have a report that has a few key figures and 7 or 8 characteristics. I would like to sort the whole report on one characterictic that lies in the 4th column from the most left of report without actually swapping it with the characteristic in the first column? I have tried just right clicking on the characteristic and using the sort option (ascending/decending), and this does not sort that column at all. It seems all columns by default are sorted by order starting at the most left hand side (first column - first characteristic). If I display that characteristic in the first column, it works, but I do not want to lose my original layout. I would like to achieve this without doing any swaps? Anyone, have any ideas on this?

when i tried i had 2 options for sorting for all characteristics in columns in query
they were
AS IN QUERY
CHARACTERISITC
so for all characteristics i have follwong sorting options
so y dont u try to select sort by chara in 4th columns
and keep rest of chars sorting option by AS IN QUERY.

Unposted values are not display in input-ready queries - BRAIN 485

Hi experts,
After installing the support package level from "7.00 SP16" to "7.00 SP21" we meet an issue in our input-ready queries.
When we use the setting "Access Type for Result Values" according to master data in a query with time characteristics in columns, the system error BRAIN 485 occurs & no cells are not displayed.
Any idea ?

KE30 Report - export

Hi,
I've created a report in KE31 with a form (KE34). 3 of columns are calculated. When I export the report to spreadsheet the last two columns are with empty values. If I export not all but a few characteristics these columns have values. Could it be because there are many characteristics (11) and columns with values(10).
Also one of the characteristics has hierarchy output (cost centers) but when I export the report it contains only cost centers, not upper levels (cost center groups). Is it possible to export groups too?

u will have to export-import in the folowing order:
-Any new variables (GS17 - Export ,GS18 - Import )
-new sets (GS07 - Export ,GS08 - Import )
-new report (GR37 - Export ,GR38 - Import )
-new report group (GR57 - Export , GR58 - Import )
-new library (GR27 - Export , GR28 - Import )

Problem in Restricting Char in Row ,

Hello all,
I got a query in which i have to do restriction on
Calendar Day/Month in Rows under Material which is a Characteristics
So it should be
Product Line
    Sold to Party
         Material
            Material for current year
             Material for prior YEar
Is this possible or we can only do restriction with respect to Characteristics in Columns
Please advise.

You will need to create two selections, one with Material and your time parameter and the second with Material and your time parameter but with an offer on it to go back to the previous years time period.

Creating Profitability Analysis Reports????

Hello Everyone!
I am trying to learn creation of reports in CO-PA. So far I tried creating some simple reports. I have some questions about the same. Maybe someone can help me if I tell exactly what I am doing:
1. Accounting -> Controlling -> Profitability Analysis -> Environment -> Set Operating Concern (TC: KEBC)
2. Create a report in with TC KE31,
Accounting -> Controlling -> Profitability Analysis -> Information System -> Define report
3. Took the option with basic report, included some characteristics, keyfigure(selected one key figure), variables(some entered at the execution time), output type(classis drilldown).
4. I am getting the output as a drilldown. I wanted all the selected characteristics as colums rather than drilldown in my final report. How do I make all the characteristics as columns? Ex: 5 columns containing customer, quantity of sales, address, product

Thanks a lot for your response. I tried creating a report like you said. But the problem is that I wanted columns with Example (sorry about the format, this was the best I could do without uploading an excel sheet):
Customer,           Material,     Quantity sold,    Total Revenue
XYZ Company,    Computer,   10pieces,           $500
But my output was:
                      Customer,       Material
Quatity Sold    10 EA                 10EA
Total Revenue   $ 500                 $500
I am not seeing the customer name and material instead I am seeing it as a matrix with values for the rows. And when I create a form with one axis, outout is coming out as a drilldown. Hope my explanation makes sense. Can anyone help me with this situation?

"Enterprise Portal" exceptions

Hi EP's experts,
I'm working on BI 7 with the EP.
I'm trying to create exceptions on a query in the EP in order to put colour on key figures or rows.
I followed step by step the process to have colour :
- Options/Exceptions/Add
1. Status exception
2. Exception defined on a key figure with value bad3
3. Exception acts on all elements and all cells of characteristics (rows & columns)
4.... 5. Active exception
But no colour appears.

Check for that particular infoobject, in the General tab ---> Other --> Attribute only is checked or not. This should be unchecked.

Passing Overall Result to a formula

Dear All,
Iam having two characteristics and one keyfigure in rows and four characteristics in columns. i want overall result of that keyfigure which is displaying in a column .For that i have a created formula and assigned SUMGT(keyfigure) to that.
In my formula it is showing overall result value which is displaying in row wise. But I want overall result column wise..
This is very urgent..

You can obtain this behavior setting the 'Formula Collision' under 'Formula Properties' tab in bex query designer.

Report Painter - Display two characteristics on one line in lead column

I have a requirement to produce a Report Painter report to display values by Cost Centre and Cost Element.
The requesting user wants to see the Cost Centre AND Cost Element keys displayed on each row of the report, to allow for manipulation in Excel.
I have no problem grouping Cost Element within Cost Centre or vice-versa, but am not aware of any way of displaying both key values on each row in the lead column (or anywhere else).
Has anybody done this?

the request is not unusual. However, report painter does not allow for two key columns or a key column combining two characteristics. You might consider using SAP Query (with table COEP or COSS/COSP for aggregates) if you do not want to resort to developing the report in ABAP.
