Characters and Text print as boxes

I have an Epson 5700i and I recently began having problems with printing.
I use MathType 5.1 to write math text which looks fine on "print preveiw", but shows up as little boxes on paper.
It didn't use to do this and I have no idea what I may have changed. I tried deleting the printer software and reloaded the driver. No change in the printing.
Any ideas?

I have trouble printing PDF documents that include math text. I use an HP 7410 all in one officejet.

  • InDesign CS3 Print Engine Error and Corrupt Print Dialog Box

We are a networked office working on various files off of a server. After setting print settings in the print dialog box and saving the file, when another user (or the same user) reopens the file, the Print dialog box settings are changed in a bizarre, corrupted way, and the file will not print. We get the following error:
Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem.
and printing fails to the HP LaserJet 4240 PS (64 MB RAM).
We all use Windows XP, SP2, Dualcore 3 GHz Pentium Processors with 3.5 GB of RAM.
Specifically, the Print dialog box shows these strange settings:
Scaling gets set to 0%, copies are set to 0
    Spreads are turned on
Print Visible Guides and Baseline Grids are turned on
All printers marks are turned on, offset is set to 0
Use document bleed settings is turned on, include slug area is selected
Output Text as Black is turned on
Omit for OPI has all 3 file formats selected (EPS, PDF, and Bitmap)
Usually resetting the Print dialog box and saving the file allows us to print but then the next time we open the file, the Print settings are corrupted again.
Any solutions? Or any fixes in the works?
    Thanks for your help!

We currently only notice this problem with files associated with one project. The project is a book of many chapters, each with it's own file. The problem affects multiple files and multiple users (4 out of 5 people working on these files have experienced the problem). It may very well be a problem caused by a different user opening the files after another has closed them.
We have a LAN with multiple Dell servers running Windows 2003 and many end-user PCs using Windows XP. All printers are on the network but printing occurs locally, meaning that data sent to a printer does not go through a server.
We could test the problem by copying a chapter to one person's computer and making them the only person who works on it for a day or two. It's just hard to do so because different people have different duties to perform on all files.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Strange characters and symobls print in the middle of a print job. Help.

In the middle of a print job, whether one page or several, it starts printing strange characters and symbols until the end of the job.  It will do this in the middle of the page, or after printing one line of English and the rest of the page in gibberish.
It usually does this while printing off bank statements from the internet or a pdf file pulled from the internet.  I don't think it has ever printed any of my documents.
However, it has done this while printing a bill received as an attachment to an email from a friend.
The next print job will usually be back to "normal".  But one day, it did this many times during the day.  Frustrating!
    Appreciate any help.

I had this happen to me with a PDF file once.  I called Support at HP,
and they told me it was because I had labeled the PDF as "text" when
it actually has (technically) "pictures" in it -- the printer didn't know how
to print those "pictures" (symbols?) as "text," so it came out as gibberish.
Perhaps there's a teckie here who can tell you more eloquently.  [And
    what to do about it!]

  • Special characters and text positioning

    Hello Experts,
In Dreamweaver, in inline text, I need to change a TM mark
for a registered trademark symbol (a capital R inside a circle),
and it must be raised above the text baseline -- superscript, I
    believe they call it.
I found the Registered symbol in Insert > HTML >
Special Characters. but I can't find a way to raise it above the
    baseline.
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks for tips.

  • Since Adobe's last update, it will not launch in Firefox-I am trying to print postage on the USPS site-and the printer dialog box is in Adobe-Thanks

I am using Firefox 4.0.1 as my default browser on a laptop running Vista home premium. I routinely print postage on the USPS site. The normal routine is to create a shipping label, click print and pay, wait a couple of seconds as Adobe launches which shows a thumbnail of the label and the setup data for my network printer. Since last weekend's update, Adobe will no longer launch on Firefox but will with IE. Thanks for any solution. /Mike L

When you updated to OS10.9.4, did you do a clean install or an inplace update and migration. The CS3/10.9.4 combination is unsupported and you will be on your own with this. Try running the cleaner tool and reinstalling the CS3 from the original media.

  • KB2909210 on Server 2008 R2 breaks my intranet sites and print dialog box

Let's try this again.  I have been asking the following question of Microsoft and every time I do, I have only been told to try another forum.
I have several intranet sites that my users use for various data entry and querying purposes.  I installed Internet Explorer 10 onto my 2008 R2 Terminal Server over this past weekend (10/18/2014) which also installed the Security Update KB2909210
and rebooted the server.  On Monday morning (10/20/2014), when my terminal users logged into the sites, the sites began malfunctioning.  All the dropdown arrows turned into question marks.  Some fields which normally have a small "x"
on the right-hand side used to erase the data entered in the text field were also displaying as question marks.  The objects still functioned but it was disconcerting to my users.  The update also slowed down these same intranet sites to where it
began interfering with productivity.  I activated Compatibility View for all intranet sites, but it did not resolve the problem.
I also found that when my terminal users tried to print a pdf document from the intranet sites, the print dialog box was jumbled and no fields were pre-populated with data like they always are when printing.  I updated to the latest Adobe Reader, but
the print dialog box remained jumbled.
All of my users with stand-alone PCs have IE 10 installed and the intranet sites work fine.  The sites display properly and process quickly, and the print dialog box is not jumbled.  It is only my terminal users who log in from a thin client
to their profiles on the server and use the IE version installed on the server who have the problem with IE10.  The KB2909210 Update is not installed on, and does not come up as, an update for any of my stand-alone Windows 7 PCs.
I uninstalled IE 10 from my server, but since this was one of my production servers, I could not restart it until after the plant was shut down for the evening forcing my users to suffer with the slowness for the day.  This morning (10/21/2014) the
intranet sites are working fine through IE 9.  I also had to revert back to Adobe Reader v9.5 as the v11 (and v10) print dialog box does not display properly in IE 9.
I do not want to stay on IE 9 on my server as IE9 gets more un-secure by the day and we've found IE 11, on any of our machines, to be too buggy.
How can I install IE 10 with its security updates and prevent it from breaking my intranet sites and print dialog box?  What is so different about Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 that IE 10 causes this corruption of intranet sites and the print dialog
box on the Server but not on the Win 7 machines?
    The bulletin here:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-011
is useless for determining why it breaks my intranet sites. Nor does it explain why the update destroys the print dialog box.

    Hi,
In my opinion, it's hard to say your problem caused by KB2909210. Have you tried to uninstall this update for test if your intrant site's problem resolved?
If your problem truthfuly caused by this updates, you can choose to hid the update as a workaround method.

  • Print unreadable characters and extra pages on Xerox 3050

We only have a Xerox 3050 Printer. Jetform server has setup it as Default printer. We have compiled our forms with 'Window default print driver' option. When merging DAT file into this printer, it printed most correct information but with some unreadable characters and also printed some extra pages with totally unreadable characters.
For the same forms, we have also compiled with PDF driver. When merging the same DAT files into the PDF files, they showed and printed correctly.
Is Xerox 3050 printer driver not supported by Jetform server, or other reasons?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi AngeloC, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I've seen this before, now let's see if I remember the cure!
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), this will clear the font caches for one thing, then run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Reboot.

  • How do I change back the print pages box?

I refreshed Firefox and my print pages box changed. It went from having a long box allowing me to type in say the 1-3, 6,10 pages to two small "from" & "to" boxes. I really need this back to the way it was for my business. I checked IE and that print setup is still the same with the long print page box. How can I fix this issue on Firefox?

Try to reset the printing settings in Firefox:

  • Print dialogue box not opening with HDR image

I created an HDR image using HDR Efex Pro 2 a month ago and printed it.  It is saved as a psd file.  I went to print it yesterday and the print dialogue box won't open. I've tried alt tab to check the box isn't open and hidden.  I've re-created the image and the result still won't open.  No other images are causing this problem.  It's probably something really simple and hopefully someone out there can shed light for me.  Thanks

Thanks for that - I wondered about the 32 bit/channel but am bemused as to how I got the first print a month ago!!  Now toned which and in 16 bit and print dialogue box opened.
    Thanks guys

  • Printer dialog box does not appear

When I do  File>Print  I'm getting the following error message:
"The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing."
The Print option then gets grayed out and a print dialog box never appears.  Don't you need the printer dialog box to select the printer?  How can I select a printer so that at least the dialog box comes up?

Someone had a similar issue below and their solution fixed my problem also:
Go into windows control panel and get into the printer section. Choose  another printer as the default printer as in MS XPS document writer and  save. Then open PS back up and select what you want to print and also  the printer you want to print on.

  • My printer dialogue box cannot locate my networked printer

    Hi,
I tried to print to one the printers networked to my computer at work this morning, and the printer dialogue box just says "looking for printer...". I went into the Print & Fax center, and all my printers ARE listed and checked, but the one I am trying to print to is in gray, (pale). I noticed that it has no "location" specified, any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I have a feeling I'm probably just over -thinking it. Any suggestions / guidance would be MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks!
PS- I am on my work computer right now, which is a g5 , running on Tiger.

    Nevermind everybody,
    I got it.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Chinese Characters Printing as Boxes in SAPscript

Issue...why would a Chinese standard text print fine using the "INCLUDE" method, but output as boxes when that same Chinese standard text is retrieved successfully using the "PERFORM" method?
Summary...I am currently experiencing problems printing Chinese characters on a custom SAP Script form. This does not appear to be an issue with printer setup or font selection, as I am able to get the Chinese characters to appear depending on the method I use. The problem occurs when I execute a "PERFORM" within the SAP script to retrieve the Chinese standard text, the results are displayed as boxes. If I "INCLUDE" the standard text directly within the SAP script, the Chinese standard text prints without issue. I have executed the SAP script in debug mode and the Chinese text is being retrieved from the "PERFORM" statement as expected, but just does not display correctly as it does by using the "INCLUDE" approach. I'm trying to understand why the two approaches would not both work in the same manner. We are on a UNICODE system.
Though we may be able to use the "INCLUDE" method in a majority of places, we are interested in using the function "ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM" for printing addresses. This would require passing values back to the SAP script line by line.
Below is a simplified version of the two methods...
    (PRINTS CHINESE CHARACTERS AS EXPECTED)
INCLUDE 'ZADDRESS_LINE1' OBJECT 'TEXT' ID 'ST' LANGUAGE &NAST-SPRAS& PARAGRAPH IG
    (RESULTS IN BOXES BEING PRINTED)
    PERFROM GET_TEXT IN PROGRAM ZGET_CHINESE_TEXT
    USING &NAST-SPRAS&
    CHANGING &ADDRESS_LINE1&
    ENDPERFORM.
    &ADDRESS_LINE1&
(&ADDRESS_LINE1& contains Chinese characters as expected when debugging SAP script)
FORM GET_TEXT TABLE PT_IN STRUCTURE ITCSY
    PT_OUT STRUCTURE ITCSY
...USE FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT' TO RETRIEVE CHINESE TEXT FROM ZADDRESS_LINE1 STANDARD TEXT (works as expected)
    read table pt_out index 1.
    move ADDRESS_LINE1 to pt_out-value.
    modify pt_out index 1.
(PT_OUT table is populated with chinese text as expected)
    ENDFORM.

    Language for form is 'ZH'.
To clarify the original post, the standard text is being retrieved correctly for both methods.  By this I mean that during debugging of the SAP script I can see the Chinese text as expected for both methods.  However, during print preview only the "INCLUDE" method displays correctly.  I have both methods included in my current script for the same standard text and the "INCLUDE" displays fine, but not the "PERFORM" method.
Does the "CHANGING" parameter which is populated by the "PERFORM" need to be defined in a particular way?  Might there an issue with the TDSYMVALUE type that is used for storing the values retrieved from the "PERFORM"?

  • Some text is printing as boxes

I am trying to print a document that has text box comments in it.  When I print a hard copy to our Konica Minolta C652 printer, some of the text boxes print out with the individual characters as boxes.  The document is 5 pages and we are printing 2-sided.  When I print an individual page that has the problematic text on it, the text prints out correctly.
We have used the text boxes to comment in multple documents.  This is the first time we have had a problem.  Does anyone have any thoughts as to what may be causing this printing problem or a possible solution?  Do you think it may be an isolated incident and the document has become corrupt at some point?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

    Fabio,
Thank you for the reply.  I did the consistency check (shift-rt click(2x)).
It is showing an X in the icon column for the WERKS field.  How do I remove that?
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • How to print hidden text in answer box

How can you print the hidden text in answer boxes on PDF forms?

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you importing a PDF with Hidden Fields into FormsCentral?
If this is the case FormsCentral ignores hidden fields and doesn't create column in the response table for those.
