Characters not showing up in Captivate 6

Greetings, I'm relatively new to Captivate but not the Adobe Creative Suite and am working on a project. I was elated to hear that Characters are automatically included (a few at least) and you don't have to purchase them separately. However, upon attempting to Insert -> Characters, I'm left waiting. No response from the system and no dialogue box shows up. I can Insert -> Interaction and it works perfectly (for the most part). Is there something I need to do to enable Characters in a project?

I did not download the characters, I mistakingly assumed they were included after reading how they were included lol. Moving forward, I searched around and could not find where to download them. I believe this was a trial install that was upgraded to full (work machine) but I can reinstall it, or whatever the process needs to be to make this work. I'd really like to utilize these characters for upcoming projects. Any advice on how to proceed?
EDIT: Found files to download via a blog's instructions. Will attempt to install and get working later. Also downloaded the very big NeoSpeech Text-To-Speech files so we'll see if that works out.
"Note: If you don't have many characters, visit the Adobe Captivate trial download page and download the eLearning Assets. Once the assets are installed, you will find that several posed characters have been added to Captivate."
Thanks for your assistance in the matter Lily. Will update on progress.

  • Certain characters not showing

    I'm having a problem with certain characters not showing on Safari. Some websites are okay, but others, like Livejournal and babynames.com, only show about four characters per word. On some message boards, certain characters such as parentheses and capital L do not show up when I type them, but show up fine on the completed post.
    What is going on? Do I need to download a new copy of Safari, switch to Firefox, or can this be fixed?
    Thanks!

    Apparently it's getting worse. There are eight more letters that don't appear.

  • Chinese Characters not showing in Design View

    Version: DW MX 2004
    I have a file I created in FrontPage and am now migrating
    over to DW. Most of the language on the page is English, with a
    portion of Chinese.
    My Chinese characters do not show up in Design View, but when
    I preview or upload the page to the server (live), they show up ok
    in IE and FF. Everything worked fine in FrontPage.
    Why can't I see them in Design View? I have looked in the
    Help for languages, character sets, etc.

    Once again, no one seems to know much about this question.
    (I've noticed it's gone unanswered in previous years.)
    In the Knowledgebase, I find only this: "Encoded HTML
    documents created outside of Dreamweaver may not display correctly
    in Dreamweaver. This includes documents that have been hand-coded
    or created in another HTML editor."
    This was updated in March, 2006.
    Which leads me to say, bugger. I guess there's little point
    in accommodating those 1.2 billion Chinese.

  • Special characters not showing

    Hello, I am having a strange problem with showing special characters in the browser when I upload the site. (its fine when I view it on localserver)
    For example on my website: http://www.reese-test2.co.uk/
    if you do a search for example: 3GLG534WW - instead of seeing the degree symbol there is a
    it should read 35° beam angle not  35 beam angle
    I know i could go through all 500 products and change the beam angle character on my SQL database to:   35°
    But surely there is an easier way? This being a lighting website for my work I have other special characters that will also show up weird, so would be good if there was an easy fix to this. I am using WAMP, and DW CS6.
    Is there a line of code I can add to my results.php page that will force the characters to show properly?
    thanks
    Sara

    Hi Just thought I would update this post. My server provider said they cannot change the character set due to how they were set up, so had to do a find/replace in PHPmyAdmin - (SQL tab) instead.
    Ken thanks for your idea. This didnt initially work for me, so googled it and had to make a couple of changes to the code, but this then worked. "Replace" needs to be in caps and the brackets removed.
    Original:
    update [table_name] set [field_name] = replace([field_name],'[° ]','[°]');
    Correct:
    UPDATE productsearch SET description = REPLACE (  description,  ‘°’,  ‘°’);
    thanks for your help Ken Binney

  • International characters not showing

    When some international character set is selected in Language
    bar (windows), and typing text in the Freehand MX, garbage
    characters are showed.
    This is related to Freehand only, becouse when typing in any
    other aplication (ms word, publisher, even notepad), proper
    characters are shown.
    Is there any settings that I need to change or any other
    intervention for international characters to be used in FH ?
    BTW even when pasting text containing international
    characters to FH, the same problem is happening.
    Thanks

    This is FreeHand only because FreeHand does not support as
    wide character set (Unicode) as most of the apps.
    There are language versions of FreeHand, like Hebrew, that
    support some extended character sets but the standard English
    version can handle about the set available in Type1 font.

  • Thai characters not showing properly

    Hi,
    When creating a product catalog in thai language the characters do not show properly. The characters have small aspects attached to them that hover above as you can see here http://www.gte-premium.com but when editing in Indesign the small aspects that are meant to hover above overlap the portion of the character below and are not aligned left to right properly.
    I have tried every thai-friendly font I can find but this does not fix the problem, how can I amend this?
    Thanks in advance

    If you're using a well-made font, you can probably get the tone marks to behave by turning on the World-Ready Composer. It's exposed in InDesign CC and CS6, in the Paragraph menu I think, but if you're using an earlier version of InDesign it's a hidden feature that you would need to use a script or a plugin to turn on.

  • Chinese Characters Not Showing On Zen Ne

    Hi, those who are using Zen Neeon or have solutions to my problems, please do help.
    Chinese characters are not showing on my Zen Neeon.
    When I used the Zen Neeon Media Explorer or Creative Mediasource to rip songs from CDs, chinese characters appear perfectly fine. It's also fine when I used Windows Media Player to rip.
    However, once the songs are transferred to the player, chinese characters can't be read when they are playing. They can be read when I view them as 'playlists' on the player, but the Chinese song titles appear as funny characters on the LCD when the songs are playing.
    I have changed my computer's non-unicode to 'Chinese PRC'. So I really don't know what's wrong.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

    It is actually the language of the tag of the song that matters, not the language of the song itself. If the song has Chinese tag, then the language must be set to Chinese. Setting the language to Chinese will not affect songs that has English tag. So, if you have only English tag songs and Chinese tag songs, then setting the language to Chinese will work for both. However, if you have Chinese tag songs and Japanese tag songs, then you need to set the language accordingly, depending on whether you are transferring Chinese tag songs or Japanese tag songs.

  • Why Chinese characters not showing up in JLabel correctly , sometimes ?

    I have a large program which uses a JLabel to display some Chinese characters in html, it was doing fine until the program grew larger and larger, then only html fonts in certain sizes will show up correctly, other sizes of the same fonts will show up as rectangles. It's not because it doesn't have these fonts, but it seems to be related to the complexity of the program. If I change the characters in rectangles to a different size ( smaller or larger ), they might show up correctly again (in the large program).
    I have a small test program below to see if a particular font size would show up correctly, they all showed up fine in this test, but if I try to display the same html in my large program, some sizes of characters will go wrong. I've even printed out the unicode and looked at them (6309 4f60 7684 9700 8981 ...), they are definitely in the Chinese character range.

    I called this test program from my large program, and it won't display correctly, it will only display all sizes of characters correctly if I run the test program by itself.
    I've posted a similar question in Java/Swing but got no answer. So I'm trying it here. The above test program will compile and run, it can display all sizes of html fonts correctly.Which means it's not lacking any fonts. I've even tried the following in my large program :
    dialog.validate();
    dialog.repaint();
    pane.validate();
    pane.repaint();
    pane.updateUI();
    A_Label.validate();
    A_Label.repaint();
    A_Label.updateUI();
    Still doesn't work, does anyone know why and how to fix it ?

    I've just made a breakthrough, the large program will work correctly if I comment out : A_Non_English_Label.setFont(Times_New_Roman_15_Font);
    But then the font doesn't look the way I wanted it to be.
    So I changed it to the following :
    ================================================
    Font Courier_New_15_Font=new Font("Courier New",0,15);
    A_Non_English_Label.setFont(Courier_New_15_Font);
    ================================================
    Now it looks not the same but similar to the way I wanted. Thus my question becomes : why it can't work correctly with "Times_New_Roman", but with "Courier_New" in the large program, they both displayed correctly in my small test program ? Is it because it takes too much resource to load the "Times_New_Roman" font ?

  • Traditional Chinese Characters Not Showing

    I am using iTunes 8.0 and imported my songs into iTunes. The titles with simplified chinese are able to show up but those with traditional characters showed up as strange characters.
    The songs were imported from another PC with Windows Vista, the titles and tags are all in proper there. I just copied the songs from that PC to my MSI Wind.
    Anyone can help out with my problem?

    tried the software you recommended but it did not help. the characters are all jumbled up in the first place.
    i did not do any changes to the tags when i copied to my MSI Wind. the tags are all right on my original PC, what could have went wrong?

  • International characters not showing up correctly in Podcast Title-Is UTF-8

    In the 'Podcast Information' window that pops up, the Episode title is not getting rendered correctly but the details show up fine. Both have chinese characters.
    Any pointers for resolving this would be appreciated.

    If sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, then there must be a difference in the way you are doing it. And you can work out what's happening from analyzing what you're doing when it works compared with what you're doing when it doesn't work.
    For example, if you type the description into the blogging software, you might just be typing the ' key. While some writing software (word for example) will automatically turn on smart quotes which your blogging software will be escaping into HTML code. The character ' doesn't need escaping, but smart quotes do.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Special Characters not showing correctly in XI from JMS Adapter.

    Hi All,
    Scenario: IBM Websphere MQ->XI->CRM (RFC Adapter)
    We have a flat file being picked up by JMS adapter and content conversion is done. The scenario works fine except when specific swedish alphabets appear in the flat file. When i checked in XI, these characters appear as rubbish characters.
    I understand that we need to use CCSID and put the value 00819 in the CCSID of Destination field for the Comm Channel. However i still did not have any luck after changing this field. Do i need to flush my queues and restart MQ?
    Does anyone have any idea what i am missing?

    Hi Lookman,
    We need to make sure that the conversion to UFT-8 is done correctly, I see that as a potential cause. So first, stop the communication channel in XI, send a test file and download it from the Queue manger where XI is supposed to read the message from (using a tool like RFHUtil).
    Then use a code page detector tool (http://cpdetector.sourceforge.net/) to make sure that the data is indeed in UTF-8.
    By the way, the destination code page field in a Sender communication channel has no effect(http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/c1/739c4186c2a409e10000000a155106/content.htm).

  • Extended Characters not showing up in DM Studio text.

    Hello,
    For some reason when I'm entering text into DM Studio (text area, label, etc) and my text contains a special character (® or ©, for instance), it shows up as a small box, indicating it can't represent that character. It used to show up just fine, with the only change I'm aware of being that the profile on my computer was corrupted a week or two ago, and a new one created and minimal profile attributes from the backup were restored. I'm working with a font that in any other application has no problem displaying these extended ASCII characters. Does anybody know why they all of the sudden aren't working?

    Hi Gregg,
    Can you check if your Codepage.ini is corrupted which comes as a part of installation in this particular folder \FAP\mstrres\fmres\deflib as it has something like below for every character which we use in documaker

  • International characters not showing properly in Adobe PDF form?

    I'm trying to help out a customer with an issue they have with a form.
    They had a form created, but it doesn't show danish characters properly.
    It's created in Adobe Acrobat Pro on a Mac.
    As soon as I enter a danish character it shows some sort of gibberish, all other characters show correctly.
    This happens both if the form is opened on a windows and on a mac.
    I found an article with google talking about a font that needed to be installed, but being very inexperienced with mac, I'm a bit at a loss if it's in Acrobat or on the mac the font is to be added, and how to do that.
    Anybody that can enlighten my darkened mind ? :-)

    I've seen the same thing on Photoshop and Fireworks CS3, and even just the other day on iMovie '09, but I was still on Leopard – so are you sure it's Snow Leopard-related?
    In my case, CS3 apps would show squares, and iMovie wouldn't even move the cursor (it wouldn't even let me enter curly quotes). With iMovie it was easily fixed by typing in TextEdit, then copying and pasting to iMovie. No success in CS3 apps, which categorically refused to enter any glyphs that weren't more or less standard Latin.

  • Special Characters not showing using Report Query

    I run my BI pub reports from APEX page using apex_util.download_print_document (see below).
    It looks like it is stripping out the '+' from the report when displaying. It shows correctly inthe XML file.
    I even tried encoding with SELECT max(replace(I1.alpha_grade,'+','%2B')) . This prints the '%2B' instead of the '+'.
    Any ideas?
    apex_util.download_print_document(
    p_file_name => l_form_description,
    p_content_disposition => 'attachment',
    p_application_id => v('APP_ID'),
    p_report_query_name => nvl(l_report_query_name,l_form),
    p_report_layout => l_layout,
    p_report_layout_type => 'rtf',
    p_document_format => v('P507_OUTPUT_FORMAT'));

    Glad it worked out for you Bob; here is the site I used for HTML to Character conversion chart.
