Characters truncated when saving to acrobat x

THis is happening for a user of ours when they import data and then are saving it as a pdf. They had Acrobat 8 Std installed. I removed that and installed Acrobat X and its still happening. You can see the words Docement, From, Overdue and Frequency all have hte last, or part of the last, letter cut off. Only one year is cut off. The text in red of cut off on the edge of the page. Another user is pulling the same data and saving from Acrobat and does not have this issue. Any Ideas? I made the pixels/inch settings larger and smaller but it dodn't help...

Thank you for pointing out the difference between suite and individual product - helpful, time- and cost-saving for me (since I almost ordered). Adobe should maybe be more specific about this in product informations about upgrades for distributors / vendors so that they can in turn inform customers. Since CS6 and Acrobat X are not in synch and my CS5 has 2 sn (one for the CS and one for Acrobat) I had not expected this.

  • Username gets truncated when saved from BW

    Hi all,
We have a function module that is called from a BW report which is developed as a BSP application in the BW client; this FM saves some data (such as contract number, username, etc.) in a Z table created in R/3. The FM is called with respect to R/3 RFC destination. All the details passed to this FM (except the username) are saved correctly in the Z table; however username gets truncated to 8 characters.
When the same FM is called from portal or even executed manually complete user name gets saved. All the variables / fields etc. are declared with the correct data elements.
Can someone advise what the cause can be. Is this related to RFC calls.
    Cheers,
    KC
    SAP SD

Are you passing the User Name to RFC? If so check the Import parameter of RFC. If its char8, it will truncate the data.

  • Photo has white edges when saved in Acrobat

I have a document in publisher 07 with a photo of a product in it made from Photoshop CS3 saved as a PNG24. No matter how close I zoom in Publisher everything looks fine.
When I create a pdf in acrobat using standard or high quality setting there shows white jagged edges aroung the photo. I have tried saving in a multitude of ways but cannot get those stupid jaggy edges to go away.
Is it Photoshop, Acrobat, Publisher??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

I suspect it is a "feature" of publisher. That would be much like the white space added around the sides of a PPT when printing to the Adobe PDF printer (unless you click on print to fit) so that printer margins are observed (an assumption of PPT). In photos, a jagged edge might be desired for old-style photos and that is what you are seeing. I am guessing, but I would look for the feature in Publisher.

  • Garbage characters displayed when saving InfoView Page Layout in Chinese

    HI,

    Server: win2k3 sp2
    DataBase: Embedded Sybase SQL

I logged in to BO InfoView with Chinese language as "Product Locale". Went to InfoView Page Layout Page , selected Save As option. Now I can see some garbage characters along with some Chinese characters in the Title text field. I want to eliminate those garbage characters.
I want to know the following.
    1. what could be the reason to get such type of garbage characters there ?
    2. How to eliminate them ?
3.Are we missing any required data while integrating BO with our product due to which this problem comes ?

  • Some IPTC fields 32 characters truncated by Lightroom

    Hi,
I've got lots of images with certain IPTC fields (like "location") having length of greater than 32 characters. I'm noticing that these are being truncated to 32 characters when using "Save Metadata to File" in LR4 beta.
I'm not a metadata expert, but my understanding is that the "old" IPTC-IIM spec had character length limitations, but not XMP or "IPTC Core", which has been around for some time now. I think the following quote summarizes what I'm seeing:
Do we need to worry about older storage methods?
    < snip >
This can happen several ways, but one cause is the legacy IPTC-IIM schema limits the number of characters per field. An IPTC Core field might be truncated when saved in a corresponding IPTC-IIM field. When moving back and forth between tools that only understand the legacy format and those that recognize both the newer and older formats, synchronizing the information becomes extremely important.
    Source: http://www.photometadata.org/node/38
Is what I'm seeing expected? Is there some way to tell LR to allow IPTC fields (like "location") to be greater than 32 characters? Does LR3 exhibit this same behavior or is this a LR4 specific issue? (I'm not a LR3 user, considering the switch to LR though)
    Thanks
    Chris

If you store a 33-character text in the IPTC Sublocation field in LR, do Metadata > Save To File, and then check the metadata with Exiftool, you'll see that the IPTC:Sub-location field contains a truncated 32-character value, while XMP:Location contains the full 33-character value.  This conforms to the industry standards.
The terminology is horribly confusing.  In the JPEG file format, there are several sections of metadata, including EXIF, IPTC, and XMP.  EXIF and IPTC are defined by older standards (cameras create EXIF metadata, and applications create and add to both EXIF and IPTC metdata).  The XMP section is defined by a newer industry standard, and it was designed to incorporate all of the fields that can be stored in EXIF and IPTC; a subset of the XMP fields (a "namespace") is called the "IPTC Core" and defines fields similar to the legacy IPTC fields but without the restrictions.
A recent standard, the Metadata Working Group's Guidelines for Handling Image Metadata 2.0, defines the rules for how the three sections of metadata (EXIF, IPTC, and XMP) should be "synchronized".  LR appears to mostly conform to that standard.

  • Chinese characters copying incorrectly when saving pdfs with Preview

So this is a very strange problem. When I save a .pdf that I have annotated in Preview, it saves fine and everything continues to display correctly. However, if I then try to copy Chinese characters from the pdf, it pastes gibberish. F'rex:
    灿烂辉煌 becomes "3456"
    and
    遇到的问题 becomes " !"
Does anyone know what is going on and how to deal with it?

The strange part is that initially the Chinese characters copy fine. It's only after I save the .pdf that copying goes all wonky.
I think there is a bug related to annotation.
Is there any way to control what encoding Preview uses when saving?
No. PDF is the worst possible format to use for any kind of editing.
Have you tried Adobe Reader? Or Skim?
    http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/
Preview is not always the best option.

  • Support for file extensions with more than three characters when saving - I want my FLAC!

Why does the Wave Editor still drop characters from filenames with more than three character extensions when you save a file? But since -opening- a FLAC file with an extension of ".flac" doesn't get chopped to ".fla", why does Audition still chop off the extra character when -saving-?
It gets old quickly when you have to save, close and reopen files in order to get Audition's Multitrack editor to play nice and be able to find files when you reopen the Session.
Given that the FLAC filter is open source, I may just have to modify the code and recompile it to force a save to ".fla"... But of course, ".fla" is a Flash file extension, which I also use, so that is a crude hack for me.

    Hi bro...
use in BYTE mode in place of in TEXT mode. and at the end of each line give some special charactor so as to distinguish between lines. This is effected  by unicode check too

    Hi,
I did a research on your error message and it seems this problem was introduced with MAX 4.6. This version switched to a new error reporting mechanism and reports even errors that are which are not critical to your task.
These errors typically show up as "unexpected" and if your error falls into this category have a look to this KB for further assistance.
If it doesn't fall into this category, your could try to go back to the MAX 4.5 or 4.4.. Of course you would need to reinstall some components and might not be able to use newer drivers at all.
    Let me know.

  • Need help with info about the possibility of altering images when saved in a different format

I am very new to the design world.  I have a printing business and received and image to be printed in Adobe Acrobat (I think).  I needed to resize the image to be printed and took it into Photoshop CS6 where I cropped the edges.  I then resave it as a PDF and took into a printer software, Fiery.  Fiery has an Impose function where you can repeat an image to layout it on the correct paper size.  It essentially just copies the original image several times depending on the layout.  This particular image I repeated to 3 up and 1 across.  When printed it came out with a magenta streak through the center image only.  I have had the machine checked and they are adamant it's not a printer issue but a software issue.  That once I altered the original image by resizing it that I altered the image and that I can't expect it to come out as seen on the screen.  I've printed it all sorts of different ways and it only occurs with the 3 up 1 across image.  I know that images can be changed when saved from program to program but this situation does not make sense that it is only the one area and layout that this shows up. I would appreciate any help, input, answers that anyone has.  Again, I'm new to this and would like to understand if this is a potential for further printing jobs so that I can do what I need to avoid this situation.
    Thank you for your time.
    Jessica

    Jessica,
Without knowing how the original graphic was created it is hard to tell you how to handle it. What is the name of the file? (Only the file suffix is important). If the file's origin was in a drawing program and/Or InDesign, then the document should be handled differently if the document is a raster image best handled by a program like Photoshop.

  • When saving a PDF from a FrameMaker book, is it possible to set document filenames as bookmarks in the PDF?

When saving a PDF from a FrameMaker book, is it possible to set document filenames as bookmarks in the PDF? Currently when I have a Framemaker book that I want to save as a PDF, I choose Save Book As and then choose PDF for the file format. A dialog box comes up in which I can choose the Bookmarks tab and choose which tagged content I want to be made into bookmarks in the PDF file. What if I would rather have the filename of a document rather than the chapter title be a bookmark in the PDF? Is that possible? Where would I choose that option? Thanks!

There are two ways that you could do this. You can either use postscript text frames and enter the correct pdfmark entries to show the file name with the corresponding actions (i.e. where to go in the PDF) or you can use hidden text in FM and the "Filename (Short) " variable in a unique paratag to be picked up by FM's bookmark creation.
To go the pdfmark route, see http://www.pdflib.com/fileadmin/pdflib/pdf/pdfmark_primer.pdf for details and also consult the Adobe Pdfmark Reference manual (http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdfmark_reference.pdf).
The hidden text route would use FM's Color Views to specify a colour as Invisible. This will make the content visually disappear from the screen (and any output), but FM will still be able to read the contents of any text that is coloured with the Invisible colour(s).
    1. Pick or create a colour that you want to be invisible. [Magenta is usually a good bet and stands out visually].
    2. Set that colour to be invisible in View 1 and visible in View 6. [you can use the shortcut <esc> v 1 and <esc> v 6 to toggle between the views.]
    3. Create a paratag to use for the filename and set the font colour to use the invisible colour.
    3. In the title of each chapter file, drop an anchored frame that is set to be outside of the text frame [so it won't interfere with any other content].
    4. In that AFrame, insert a text frame and use the invisible paratag defined in step 3.
    5. Insert the Filename (Short) variable in that text frame.
    6. Repeat steps for all files to be included in the bookmarks.
When creating the PDF bookmarks, select only the paratag used for the invisible colour.
Don't forget to toggle the View to be invisible (i.e. <esc> v 1  - this also works at the book level for all files in the book).

  • Adobe X Pro error when saving randomly

We have techs signing PDFs and saving them. However, randomly, users will get an erorr when saving.
Error: The document could not be saved. Cannot save to this filename. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.
Then the file name goes to something like aac04492  or aai04492  or aaa04492.
It appears with the newest update I believe, as other PCs without the newest update do not have this issue. It just started about two weeks ago and is completely at random. The techs do the same thing every day, for years, and they have full permissions to save to their local drive. Seems to be a Adobe PDF update error that has caused this?
PROBABLY SHOULD BE MOVED TO ADOBE ACROBAT.

    ISSUE:
When signing a PDF document, then saving it, we sometimes come up with the error
"There was an error when attempting to commit this signature. The document was not saved.
The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."
Adobe now says it is a Known issue and they may fix it in 10.1.2 update….
The only workaround is to disconnect computer from the network, which defeats the purpose of course.
    From the chat:
Premjit: I have checked with my resources and see that it is a network related issue with Acrobat version 10.1.1.
Premjit: Yes, it happens to random network due to the network policies.
Premjit: Yes, we have a few case which related to network.
Premjit: Our Developer are also checking on this an may fix it with the next version.

  • When saving a document as a PDF, the text converts to symbols.  How do I correct this problem?

English word text in a document that is saved as a PDF appears in the PDF as a series of unreadable symbols, letters, and numbers.  This happens in Adobe Acrobat 9 and X Pro.

i take it this only happens when saving from a website?  the trick (for me) was to bring up the "print" drop down menu, select Adobe PDF, then select "preferences".  on the new dialog box, uncheck "rely on system fonts only, do not use document fonts".  then hit "okay" "apply" and "print".  it should come out correct.
