Charge and listen in car?

i have a 2g ipod shuffle, i can listen to it in my car via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable connected to the aux socket of my car, but is there anything i can buy which will allow me to charge and listen to it at the same time?

your car in this case its just a speaker
what you can do, its buying a special charger for the car, and buying a special adapter in the shape of a "Y" so it has two inlets and one outlet, one inlet for the charger, another for the cable that connects to the car and the outlet to connect to the ipod.
hope this was useful

  • Charge and Listen at the same time?

I am new to the IPOD experience, and I am listening to my IPOD Nano at work, without ITUNES. I want to listen to the IPOD and charge it at the same time. But it seems while the IPOD is charging, the "do not disconnect" icon is blinking, and I can't play any songs. The only thing I can do is "eject" the IPOD, and then I can listen. But even though it's plugged in, I don't think it's charging. I tried to download my music to some other media player on my office computer, but no luck. I am not allowed to download software, so I can't put ITUNES on my desktop. Any advice?

even though you "eject" your ipod, it is still charging. and listening to it while it is chargin is okay.

  • Charge and listen simultaneously while using car adapter?

hey everyone, so i realize that the itrip for nano is out, but yesterday while i was at target i found a little wee device called a "VR3 modulator" which was only $20. a steal compared to $60-70! ... it sez its fer all mp3 players and can be compatible with ipods! it has a usb port and an audio port. if i plug it into the audio port, itll play the music. if i plug it into the usb port, it'll charge. my question is: "is there any way to do both *at the same time*??" i know i can do both if i connectmy ipod to my mac (all i do is trash it and itll charge and play)... but when i connect to the usb port i get the "do not disconnect" image on the screen. theres no "trash" to send it to, so am i just forced to do either one or the other? ... am i gonna have to give in and go buy the griffin itrip or that one that (i thinks) is a belkin?

Strange sort of car adapter. I use a Monster iCarPlay. It plugs into a power port in the car (what used to be called a cigarette lighter) and connects to the nano's dock. It contains an FM transmitter that allows me to pick up my nano's music on the car stereo. Yes, it's more expensive. But it lets me charge the nano while I'm listening to my music.

  • Charge and listen to

Is there a way to split the line out with a splitter and charge it and listen to the music at the same time? Thanks.

No products that do it, but there's a DIY solution:

  • How can I charge and listen at the same time?

I'm using a windows PC and the USB connector. If I plug the cable in, iTunes automatically opens and I get the "do not disconnect" message and can't play music.
If I eject my iPod from iTunes, it doesn't charge anymore.

You can listen to the music on your iPod through iTunes. Just click on the nano icon where the library and store and playlists are and hit play at the top. If you want to listen to it while charging, you can do that by using a wall adapter to charge. I do this at work when my battery starts to get low.

  • Possible to charge and listen at same time on XP Computer w/o iTunes?

Is it possible to charge my iPod video and use it (listen/watch video) at the same time by connecting it to a computer that doesn't have iTunes installed? While it's connected and charging it has the "Do not disconnect" message and I can't enter the menu system. If I remove/eject from Windows XP through the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon it appears that it stops charging also.
    Thanks.

Windows (with laptops especially) sometimes likes to shut off the USB power when Ejecting a device.
    Try this;
1 - On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    2 - Double-click the System icon.
3 - Click the Hardware tab.
    4 - Click Device Manager.
5 - Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
6 - Click the plus icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
7 - Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
8 - Click the Power Management tab.
9 - Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
10 - Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
    11 - Restart the computer.

  • Charging and Listening to Zen Visio

If you are connecting to your computer to charge, you cannot listen at the same time? Is this true? Please advise!

Try restarting your phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up.

  • IPad charger and Apple customer care

Just got done talking to Apple support. Since my charger is still under warranty, they are going to replace it for me. But why do I have to pay 15 for a shipping cost? May be I'm not understanding this. But I thought if they were going to replace it for free, shouldn't the shipping be free too?

Thanks. I called them again and they actually told me what you just said. So thanks
That first lady did not have a clue what she was talking about.

  • Charging and listening at the same time?

Is there a way to play and charge the Shuffle at the same time??

Well considering that the charging/data USB cable and the headphones use the same jack, it doesn't seem possible. Maybe a y-cable would allow it, but some of the contacts in the headphone jack may serve two different purposes depending if the iPod is charging or playing, so may not be able to do both at the same time.
On the other hand, you may be able to play the iPod through your computer while charging it. Set up the iPod for manual mode then if you plug it into a computer with iTunes installed, you can play music out of the iPod on your computer.

My iPod touch is not charging, nor is it syncing with my commputer and iTunes. It will charge on the wall charger, and in the car, but not on the computer. My wife's iPod Nano syncs on the computer. I went in and reset my iPod Touch back to factory settings and now it will not let me get in unless I sync to iTunes on my computer. Well, it still will not connect thru the USB cord. Does anyone know what I should do to get this corrected? I want my iPod back.

  • 1G iPod Shuffle charge and play

Can I plug a 1G iPod Shuffle into the UBS power adaptor wall charger AND listen to it through the headphone jack at the same time?
It may seem like a stupid question but, I'm returning my 2G iPod because it can't do both at the same time.
    New sales pitch:
2G iPod Shuffle, It can't walk and chew gum!

Wrong answer, unfortunately, and your example (while
correct - it won't play when connected to a USB port)
    doesn't fit the question asked.
In fact, you CAN play the 1G Shuffle through the
earphone jacks using Apple's USB charger; many folks
are doing that in any number of applications where
they're just providing background music in a business
    or whatever.
It plays out of the jacks, not out of the base, and
that is why it doesn't work on the 2G model; there's
no difference between the two and no way to get to
the audio on the provided dock (making me suspect
that some ingenious German is working up a modded
dock even as we speak, something that will be a
slightly bulkier version of the current one but will
feature an earphone jack .... it should be possible
    to do that).
Not all USB chargers are created equal and, while
they will charge the Shuffle just fine, the shuffle
won't play. This has to do with how the pins are
connected in the charger bases themselves, and there
are several sites on the web which tell you how you
    can work around that.
Thanks, that was my suspicion and hope.
I tried fabricating a 'y' for the 2G with a 4 conductor 3.5mm female (to the iPod Shuffle dock), 4 conductor male (to the iPod Shuffle) and a 3 conductor female for audio out.
If only the dock (which was connected to the USB charger) and the 2G Shuffle were connected, the Shuffle would charge.
If only the headphones and the Shuffle were connected, the headphones work, i stereo, no problem.
BUT, once you plugged in both the headphones and the dock neither would work.
Sent the 2G back ordered the 1G and am keeping the Apple USB charger.
    Thanks

  • Charging and beeps

i charge my iphone 3gs (firmware 3.1.3) from the apple charger, a 3rd party a/c charger, and from a car charger. it charges fine. (it took a bit of fiddling to find "iphone 3gs compatible" chargers that work, but that's another story.)
but i notice that when i plug it in to charge, it beeps, sometimes once, sometimes twice, and sometimes the beeps are a little delayed (by a second or two).
does anyone know what the beeping is supposed to indicate? (apart from "charging". the "charging" graphic appears, but that should be consistent and only a single beep.) does it indicate 500ma versus 1000ma or something like that?

Well, I've never seen one beep twice, at least the two that I've had, however the delay is usually an indicator about the connection. Sometimes it takes a moment for the connection between the charger and the charging circuit on the phone to make communications with each other. When you hear the beep and look at the phone, you should see the charging symbol appear. That is all that is. And as long as it is charging, I wouldn't worry about the occasional double beep.

  • Cable in my car doesn't charge and play the 6th gen, only plays?

So I had the 3rd gen iPod and the cable in my car played and charged it at the same time..the cable came with the vehicle.
I decided to get the 6th gen iPod nano and now the same cable only plays it. I had to buy another cable to charge (and of course can't listen to music while it charges).
The car is a 2009 Infiniti FX 35..I've called Infiniti to ask if they have a newer cable compatible with newer devices and they don't...Apple says to ask Infiniti..
I'm just trying to avoid so many cables in the car...I hate wires...the older model seemed to have worked just fine but I just had to upgrade to a nano...and now the older has been stolen... :-\
So is it Apple that needs to sell newer cables for the new devices or is it Infiniti?? Any suggestions? Thanks.

First of all to check if your battery is actually charged you can go to System Profiler (use spotlight search if you don't know how get to it) then select "Power" on the Hardware list and you should see more info on the battery. You should see this:

I have had IPhones since their inception.  Last phone was the 5.  A few months ago, I upgraded to the 6 Plus.
    Here is my issue.
On my 5, my car radio (which has USB port) allowed me to plug in and listen to radio or music from my phone and the bonus was it charged the phone as well. All worked great.
Now with the 6 Plus, neither of things work.  The message on the radio (Kenwood) says I Pod error.  The message on my phone say's "this device is supported".
I have called on this before and was told you are aware and that the issue will be addressed in a future update.  There have been several updates on IOS 8 and the issue remains.

I have a Kenwood KDC-X695. When I purchased this stereo and had it installed, I had an ATT iPhone 4.
It worked with the stereo, but had a few issues. I had purchased a few audio books that I would listen to while driving. When I plugged it in it would immediately begin to play the book from the beginning or if I had been listening to music, it would start playing the song that was at the top of the song list.
The stereo came equipped with Firmware version 3.05. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a year later. I had that phone for approximately 2 years. The song or book issue remained the same.
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and the Bluetooth function still works, however the USB port on the stereo that the phone plugs into to allow files on the phone to play through the stereo no longer works.
I contacted the service provider (Verizon) and after speaking to several different technical support technicians, they provided me the phone numbers for Kenwood and Apple because they were unable to help me.
I spoke with Kenwood technical support the following day and after a few fumbling miscues from the technical advisor, it was suggested that I upgrade the firmware, even though the Kenwood literature warns against this if the Bluetooth portion is working, because if there is a problem with the upgrade, it can render the Bluetooth useless and non-functional. The advisor did suggest the latest firmware on the second or third attempt, after I pointed out what I was able to glean from my initial search.
Later that day, I went back to the Kenwood site (from their homepage) and by using their selection tools, discovered that this particular model was only ever intended to be used with the iPhone 4S (the technical advisor was not aware of this, even though I mentioned this during my phone call earlier in the day). According to the Firmware selection tool, my iPhone 5 should not have worked with it.
I performed the Firmware upgrade, and it took 13 minutes. This was less than the 15 minutes that was forecast in the Kenwood literature. The Bluetooth still works but the USB cable connection still causes the unsupported device message that I received prior to the upgrade. I am incredibly annoyed and disappointed.
By upgrading to the iPhone 6, I have three choices; (1) only use the Bluetooth for phone calls without the ability to play other files from my iPhone 6 (2) forced obsolescence of my stereo, requires buying a new stereo (3) return my iPhone 6 and go back to my iPhone 5.
I do not believe that I should have to be a software/Firmware/hardware engineer, vetting every single device that I own; prior to upgrading a cell phone.
I am incredibly annoyed with Apple at the moment.
I have a separate Bluetooth headset that worked with both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that the iPhone 6 simply does not recognize. That is another story for another time.
Currently, I am incredibly underwhelmed with Apple.

  • My iphone won't charge and won't play music anymore. I have tried reseting it and switching it off. Have tried 3 different chargeres and even a car charger. Does anyone know what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

I have an iPhone 4 not quite 2 years old. 2 nights ago my iPhone was on its charger and it kept vibrating as if it was being disconnected and re-connected from the charger. When I looked at it had an "error" message but now I don't know what that was as it was 3am and I was half asleep. I just diconnected the charger and the battery read fully charged.
The my volume wouldn't go up or down. The box with "ringer" in it came up but no bars at the bottom to show the volume is increasing or decreasing. It would not play music out of the speakers either even though the screen showed it was playing and it would not work in our dock/speaker unless I used bluetooth and even then, if we touched the volume button on the dock it would switch off.
I tried a "hard" reset 3 times and tried switching it off and on 3 times with no success.
I tried 3 different chargers including a car charger, plus the speaker dock with no success.
It is now out of battery and I cannot charge it.
The iPhone also would not back anything up prior to the battery going flat.
I just need to know if it is fixable or do I need to start looking for a new phone?
