Charge AND play through

Question

I have a Zen Sleek but this question is most likely relavant for other MP3 players.
When I connect Zen Sleek to a computer with only Windows Media player through the USB cable,
. It start to charge and I can still use the MP3 player
2. When I start the WMP, the player immediately switch to "docked" mode
3. When I exit the WMP, the player switch back to play/charge mode (possibly after rebuilding library)
However, if I connect Zen Sleek to a computer with Creative software loaded, the player will always be in the "docked" mode and I cannot use the player. What do I have to do (other than uninstall all Creative softwares) to use the player while it is being charged?
On a related issue, the WMP will NOT play music on the MP3 player directly through the computer (you have to transfer the music file back to PC firest) while Creative software do not have such restriction.

Yes it true that MTP player will detect software like Windows Explorer when opened but it will only dock for a minute or less and then release itself from docking if you are not accessing/clicking at the player listing in Windows Explorer. The player will only dock the very moment you click at the listing such as the Zen Sleek Media Explorer or the default Windows player listing. If you point it to other folder/direction, it should be releasing itself from docking. At least this is what I have tested.
