Charge connectors for 5th Gen iPod same as 3G iPod Touch?

Is the AC charger and the USB cable from the iPod Touch 3G the same as the ones for the iPod 5th Generation? The connectors look the same but I'm just making sure there are no incompatibilities / voltage, etc.

  • Boombox or Dock w/Skrs and Charger compatible with 5th Gen Nano?

So I'm trying to research devices that are COMPLETELY compatible with the 5th Gen Nano. Please don't recommend the Apple store as I do not find the compatibility information I seek (most manufacturers only claim w.r.t. music playback).
Most all 3rd party devices that are "compatible" will play 5th gen Nano music through speakers (of course - what would be the point otherwise), but if they possess a charging feature, they were designed and manufactured well before Apple changed the connector arrangement on the 5th Gen Nano, and so will not charge.
Has anyone compiled a list of devices that are compatible both in terms of music playback and charging with the 5th gens?
    Thanks.

It's good to know someone like yourself has both 4th and 5th gen and can definitely state they charge the same (I am assuming with the same USB cable).
So - theoretically, if I find a device that will both charge a 4th gen and playback a 4th gen, it will do the same with the 5th gen? I think this is what you are implying. That is what I am hoping.
I cannot find this in writing, and I suspect some of the devices on the Apple Store will not play but NOT charge a 4th gen nano, so the same will be true of the 5th gen.
OK, price-point is less than $100... portable (plays on battery) or AC powered. WILL charge a 5th gen nano. Nice if it had a remote. OK if it has a clock. OK if it has a FM tuner (how would one use the Ipod to tune FM if the earphones were not connected (used as an antenna)?
    Thank you.

I am experience a similar problem, my iphone 4 either turns off by itself or I am unable to answer a call. Everything just blocks. After contacting 2 different apple service spots still no answer as to how can we fix the problem. Worse, I am unable to revert back to ios 5.1.1 where everything worked just fine.

  • IMessage preview for 5th gen iPod

Can I get my messages to not have a preview in the lock screen for a iPod touch 5th gen? To where it just says iMessage under the name? I used be able to do this on my 4th gen iPod but I haven't been able to find out if I can do the same with my 5th gen.

Go to Settings>Notification Center and turn off Show Preview.

  • ITALK FOR 5TH GEN IPOD? or similar?

    Hi,
I used a Griffin iTalk for voice recording with my 3rd Gen Ipod and now I just bought a 5th gen Ipod (30g) and obviously the iTalk doesnt work. Is there a voice recording accessory for the new 5th gen Ipod available somewhere on the market?
    Thank You
    Jadee

Currently no. Several manufacturers have advertised forthcoming voice recorders for the 5th gen, but so far there are none on the market.

  • Very poor Customer Service for 5th Gen IPOD

    Hello,
I have been trying to get the missing parts for the 5th Gen Ipod Video I received for Christmasfor the past couple of hours. The box was never opened and wrapped in cellophane. It is missing the earbuds, foam earbud pads and usb cable along with anything else that comes with it. So I go on the tech support site and nothing is offered for missing parts. I call customer service who then tells me I have to call Tech support. I call Tech support who then transfers me to customer service. Customer service then tells me that if it wasn't ordered thru Apple.Com I'm SOL. I asked to speak to a manager. Shannon in customer service instead transfers me back to Tech support. So I waited and politely spoke to them telling them what I have gone thru. Justin in Tech support asks me to hold for a couple of minutes which I do then he disconnects me. I'm on the website looking for an email to Apple customer service and can't find one. Can anybody help with an email contact to get my missing parts. Taking the IPOD back would involve shipping back up North to have the person who gave it to me as a gift to take it back then reship it back to me. I had never had an issue with previous IPODS and this is just insane.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sorry for all of the trouble
    Call this number again...
    1-800-275-2273
And tell them what has happened, what you have gone through, etc. Be polite and just say that you are just looking to get headphones that didn't come with (although I find this strange, but I'm not at all saying that you are lying).
Apple doesn't really have email support for iPods, so I'd just call again and explain what you've gone through.
    Good Luck!

  • Still no microphone for 5th gen. iPod

I'd just like to know why /if i'm right/ there's still no microphone compatible with 5th gen ipod with video. It's been ages... Come on Apple, Belkin, Griffin, ... I need it!!! I'm a teacher!

d just like to know why /if i'm right/ there's still no microphone compatible with 5th gen ipod with video. It's been ages
Since your a teacher, you will know it is not available, most likely because it is not finished.
It’s only been 6 months, which is far less than a single “age” let alone many “ages”.

  • Is it possible to still get texas hold'em for 5th gen ipod?

I know it's apple policy to kick their customers to the curb when they decide that we "need" to buy new products by no longer supporting older products. Is there anywhere I can still get games for 5th generation nano?

No, they were removed almost 2 years ago. Developers no longer wanted to support them after the App Store was opened.

  • Bad 5th Gen or Harddrive or whole ipod?

Well i have a 5th Gen Classic(5.5 Gen with the 30GB Drive, Model number MK3008GAL) that has had problems since the day i got it. when it comes to only a certian set of songs, the HDD begins to continusly click and the song never starts playing, but the ipod still responds for about 30 seconds. Then it locks up and clicks forever till the batt is drained or i reset it. The drive Smart data Shows it has 671 Reallocated Sectors, 74 pending Sectors, and only 141 PWR on Hours. less than 10,000 Start and Stops. In a Disk reader, shows alot of Found.XXX folders and refuses to format. This is much shorter than my last 5th gen.(lasted 6 years before it go destoryed in a lab accident). Question is, It should be fine i if just replace the HDD correct(i have spares of this Same HDD).

Yes. It appears that the hard drive is pretty much shot and in need of replacement.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen 16gb isnt working, My iPod touch 5th gen 16gb isnt working

So, just got this iPod touch 5th generation 16gb but when i tried updating it on my computer it the update stopped halfway through, itunes closed and wont open anymore, and my iPod just has an image of an itunes symbol above an arrow and the end of a usb cord that plugs into the ipod. I have tried to turn it on and off again but it doesn;'t work and itunes wont open on the computer either. help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Then if necessary:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    Or
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Compatible FM Transmitter for 5th gen nano

Hello. I've tried my 5th gen nano on two different fm transmitters for car use, and a message comes on the nano's screen and says something like "charging not supported with this device", also, it will not play music over the transmitters, just the nano's internal speaker. Does anyone know of a compatible FM transmitter for this 5th gen nano?? Make and model would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Forums, Sarcophagus!
Apple lists the following models as compatible:
    Griffin RoadTrip with SmartScan
    Griffin iTrip Auto with SmartScan
    Griffin iTrip AutoPilot

  • Swapping 4th Gen for 5th Gen.........

Thanks for reading post to start with =)
Anyway back to my problem, i have heard from a few people that apple, and perhaps a retail shop (namely currys), will swap you your old ipod 4th gen, 20gb for a new ipod, either nano or video 5th gen. I would like this clearing up as it seems unlikely but the people swear by it. Thanks

For your trade-in 4th Gen iPod, Apple will give you 10% off a new iPod. You might be better off selling your iPod and putting that towards the new one.

  • Recommendations for running armband for 5th gen

I'm looking at some armbands for my 5th gen ipod classic but it seems like there's no consensus positive reviews of a specific one on the internet.
I just want one that easily and comfortably goes around my arm. Another nice feature that I'd like is if I could press buttons without having to take some cover off or anything
    Thanks!

Newer computer = newer drivers and apps. You can only run Windows 7 using Boot Camp Assistant with the newer computers. Or, you can download and install Parallels or Fusion (the most current versions work in Lion). If using Parallels or Fusion you can install XP, Vista, Windows 7, etc.
Or, you could try the free VirtualBox.

  • Ipod nano 5th gen, when listening to audiobooks, ipod does not advance to next part when previous part ends, it returns to beginning of previous part

when listening to audiobooks, when a part finishes, i.e., part 1, ipod starts over at beginning of part just finished instead of advancing to the next part, i.e., part 2.  Is there some setting I can change so it advances to next part instead of repeating the part I just finished?
