Charge Icon - phone not charging after 15 minutes

Ran my phone flat. The icon appearing on my screen indicates that I need to charge my phone for approx 15minutes before it will start charging. It has now been 2.5 hours and still won't charge. My phone is plugged into a wall socket, not a computer.

Well, did you follow the steps in that support document? It gives you a link to another support document of what to do if the problem persists. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281. The last step is to contact Apple. The device is in warranty, so if it is defective, they should replace it.

When i plug in my ipad to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the recharge icon and not charging.... what does this mean and how can it be fixed... checked all cables, not broken

First make sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet. When the iPad battery is completely drained it may take some time on the charger before the iPad responds. Be patient and let the iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My iPhone 4 has just shut down.  Rang the phone then vibrated for 2 minutes bank screen, will not turn on, also tried charging and will not charge.  Any suggestions

my iPhone 4 has just shut down.  Rang the phone then vibrated for 2 minutes bank screen, will not turn on, also tried charging and will not charge.  Any suggestions?  I did download a ringtone app and went on to iTunes to sync!.

Try charging the iPhone via a wall socket for at least 30 minutes then try a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

  • Phone not charging

When I plug in my phone to my charger, it will not charge. I know it's not the charger because it was just working fine last night. What do I do?

    Hi cheyenne_s!

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Ipod displays charging icon when not plugged in

Hey, i have had a 30GB ipod video for almost a month now but recently it has had this problem. When i unplug my ipod from the computer, the charging icons do not turn into the default battery icon. It still says its charging. As far as i know it does successfully charge when plugged in, however i cant check the battery life becuase it always displays the charging icon.
Also when i shut it down, by holding the play button, the charging screen is displayed. Im sure this is using battery life so id like to get the problem fixed.
Ive tried reseting and restoring, nothing has worked.
PS. I use the USB cable to charge, i dont have an AC adapter.
    Thank you

Thanks, i wouldnt mind as much if i was able to see the battery life and be able to shut it down.
Any idea what would cause this? Even after reseting and restoring?
EDIT: Ok my ipod just now told me its out of battery life, after being plugged in all day.
Now it is stuck looping from the apple logo to 'no battery life..', then reseting and repeating.

  • "Charged" icon does not go away when 5th gen Ipod is disconnected

When I unplug my Ipod from either the wall charger or computer USB cable, the Charged icon does not go away. After sitting idle, when it would normally go into sleep mode, the big green Charged icon displays on the center of the screen.
This obviously prevents the battery meter from reading correctly, and I think it's causing the battery to die prematurely.
I've tried restarting and updating the Ipod software. Any suggestions short of restoring??
    5th gen. Ipod Windows XP

I am having the same problem!
I had my ipod 5th gen docked to a iHome alarm clock, and after pressing the button on my remote to shut off the alarm the charged screen popped up a few seconds later (this is normal) however, the screen never went off, it is currently still showing the large charged battery symbol in the middle of the screen while being backlit.
I have tried the 5R's and this does not help. Do i need to bring it in to be serviced? Did you resolve your issue?

Have you tried a soft-reset to see if it that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear and it will boot up.
If that doesn’t fix it then have you got a different cable, and possibly charger, that you could try ?

Hi and welcome to the Apple Discussions.
First, make sure that you have the most updated firmware and battery update for your macbook. You can also try resetting the SMC of your computer. Here are the steps:

    You can check:
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Sounds like you've had an unauthorized shop repair your phone. If that is the case, the only thing you can do is go back to them or find another shop to assist you.
There is a hardware issue with your phone and Apple may not be willing to do anything for you if you've had it serviced by an unauthorized third-party. I would highly recommend you replace the phone as burning smells are never good signs and are often hazardous.
You may be able to purchase an Out-of-Warranty replacement at an Apple store; the cost for the 4S is $199 (USD).
