Charge Iphone using usb port vs wall plug charger

I always charge my Iphone 5 to usb port on Macbook pro and leave it 5-6 hour after fully charge. Is there any side effect if I charge my Iphone using usb port instead of wall plug charger. Is it iphone will cut off charging after fully charge?

The iPhone knows when it is charged and will stop charging. No need to worry.

  • Apple store says ipod mini not working b/c not using usb port 2.0 - true?

My ipod mini (a year old) is frozen/can't be charged. Apple store guy said because I've been using usb port 1.1 and that it is supposed to be used with usb port 2.0. Tells me won't send in for replacement (out of warranty anyway) unless I first update my computer with USB 2.0 card. Is this true?

It's better to use 2.0 because it's faster.
Try resetting it, hold the center [select] button and the menu button until the Apple logo appears. or let the battery die, and then plug it in.

  • How to use desktop internet in iphone using usb cable

I want to use my desktop internet connection in iphone using usb...if it is possible then let me know the way...

Not possible. The USB connection only allows for data transfer between the computer and the device, it cannot function as a gateway to the Internet.

My Audi A4 has a USB port - can I plug nanopod into it to play music

That was the first thing I did when I bought my Chevy was to see what devices the USB port would support. Reading that manual was my first thought as it just made sense instead of asking in a forum where a huge amount of people would not know that answer for that car.

I jusy upgraded my iPhone 4 with the new IOS7 update.  Now when I hook my phone up to my Apple Mac using the USB port, Itunes no longer opens my device.  SO I can't move songs on and off the phone.  The Device selection under the File menu does not allow me to select my phone.  Please help.  Itunes has been updated with the most recent version.

If you have connected your device to your computer and it does not appear in the side bar in iTunes then for Windows computers read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 or if you have a MAC then read http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 for troubleshooting steps.

  • Charging phone using USB ports while in sleep

    Hey guys!
I recently updated my macbook pro mid 2011 to the new operating system: MAVERICKS
I used to do this little handy thing, where i used my mac as a powerbank for my phone once it was empty. I would insert a micro usb cable in one of the usb ports, and it would be active and thus charge my phone....
It worked before, but in mavericks it's gone!
Now it seems like in mavericks the usb-ports aren't powered during sleepmode anymore... how do i change this back?
    Thanks in advance!

I run Mavericks, my USB ports charge my iPad and / or iPhone while asleep. The behaviour has not changed.

  • Using USB port to charge Pearl

I can't find the original post I wanted to comment on so I am just sharing this as a new post.  Belkin and several other companies make USB hubs that have AC (110 V) adapters that power them.  If you use one of these you will never have the underperformance issues with the 3 volts your PC's USB ports seem to be able to muster.  I had problems powering up multiple USB drives and my two phones at the same time before I adopted this fix.  Don't have a take on the laptop / phone charger scenario.

The AT300se is really recongnized by the laptop (same when using USB 2.0 or 3.0 port).
I dont have any SDHC or SDXC card on the tablet.
i see a difference with my mobile phone when it s connected i have a new window which appear withe a new letter drive for it.
Nothing happens with the tablet but when i open the explorer on the laptop i see the disk of the AT300 and a new lines appear with removable peripheral .
    Thanks for your help

  • Internet wireless connection shuts down when iPhone in USB port

Hi. I bought a new iPhone 3G 2 days ago. Whenever I plug it into my PC USB port to sync, my internet wireless connection shuts down (a dongle is plugged into another USB port). Have you heard of this happening before? Is it likely to be the iPhone, the new version of iTunes or the PC causing the problem? Many thanks for your assistance.

    Your welcome.
A USB memory pen does not draw any power - as does the iPhone.
Apple recommends connecting the iPhone direct to a USB 2.0 port on your computer - not to a USB hub if there is one available.
Do you know if this computer has USB 1.1 or 2.0 ports? If the former, USB 1.1 is not supported.
My PowerBook is approaching 4 years old and still going strong - running Apple's current operating system, but Snow Leopard will be comptible with Intel Macs only, so I'm reaching the end of the line OS version wise with my 4 year old Mac. I don't know many 4 year old PCs running Vista. My Mac has USB 2.0, and I regularly charge other USB devices while my iPhone is connected and while syncing - no problem.

  • Printing from iphone using usb

I have a Photosmart 7520.  I have an iphone 5 with IOS 7.0.6 (I haven't upgraded yet but am not opposed if it will help me).   I want to print photos from my phone onto my printer but I am taking it to a place where there is no cell service or wifi, so I want to do this via usb.  When I try to do this, my printer tells me that the device must be in mass storage mode and also that Apple devices do not support mass storage mode. Is there going to be any way to accomplish printing not using wifi or cell service?

    Welcome....
Firstly see more like this on the right....
Secondly Windowns and OSX devices can support multiple printers attached to the USB port of an Airport because they can locally install the required drivers. iOS devices howevere have only one generic drive and this supports the AirPrint interface so to natively use a printer it must support the Airprint technology. If it doesn't it can't be used to print. From what I can see your printer doesn't support Airprint but you may like to try on the Brother forums for more info.
Also in all cases only basic print functions are supported so e.g. scanner functions do not work.
There are howevere 3rd part Apps in the App Store that extend iOS printing to more devices but only to a limited range of printers.

    Shawn

  • Use USB port to emulate keyboard

    Hi,
Is it possible to to use an USB port of an embedded controller (PXI8108) to replicate a keyboard when plugged into a device expecting
    a USB keyboard ?
    thanks,
    Gary.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

From what I understand about USB, I don't think you can do that.
The USB ports on the PXI controller are host ports and as such can't be used as device ports. A keyboard would be a HID device class. Maybe there is some sort of HID emulator that could be placed between the PXI and your UUT that is expecting a USB keyboard...

  • DSL uses USB port - how can I connect BEFW router

DSL Modem connected to BEFW11s4 V.4 router and desktop computer connected port #1 to Ethernet card ...  wireless laptop and wired desktop worked fine.   Then Desktop stopped having a connection ...  wireless units worked fine.
Swapped Desktop cable to port #2 ....  Port #1 light remained lit although nothing was plugged in to it.  Port #2 light didn't light ... and no desktop connection.  Wireless still worked.
Connected DSL to desktop ethernet card ... didn't work (no router involved).
Connected DSL to computer thru USB prot ... desktop worked fine   however I saw no way to connect router so wireless would work.
I reset DSL, Router and deleted and re-installed the ethernet card .... reinstalled all software ...   no luck.
Should I gather that I have a router failure in the wired area and the wireless still be working?    I'm at wits end      Any thoughts would be appreciated
    Thanks

in rural area .. no doubt about wireless signal being from my router.   I deleted and re-installed ethernet card (HP computer -- ethernet part of motherboard ... not separate card).  DSL to ethernet card failed ...  "failure to connect".
Used DSL to USB as a last ditch effort...   worked ...   but don't know a way to connect router if using DSL to Desktop thru USB port.
Could ethernet part of motherboard have failed?  and rest be working fine?
network connections shows ethernet card and 1394 icon.
ethernet card doesn't show "yellow triangle" in hardware set-up ... but status doesn't show an IP address, subnet mask or default gateway .....   1394 shows no action of any sort.
I may be hopeless ...   maybe a system restore might find what I'm missing??

  • Distortion using USB port for audio output

I did some research in the Mac Mini community regarding the problem I'm experiencing but most of the posts were several years old so I thought I would start a new thread.
I am using one of the USB ports on my 2011 Mac Mini (2.3GHz, i5) to feed a High Resolution Technologies Streamer II USB DAC which then connects to my audio systems integrated amplifier. The issue I'm experiencing is that I am getting distortion when I first open iTunes and start a music track playing. I can hear the music but it is overlayed with this static like distortion. It seems to happen specifically when I first wake the computer from sleep and open iTunes and try to play a track. If I close and reopen iTunes and start a track playing again the distorion usually goes away and all tracks after the initial distortion play fine. I've done troubleshooting with regards to the HRT USB DAC and made sure the Streamer II is operating on its own USB Bus and I've tried a powered USB Hub to feed only the Streamer II but the distortion continues. So aside from the obvious hardware malfunction possibilities I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. Thank you,
