Charge uk iPad in USA
iPad - power. Based in UK 220/240v power. Going to USA 110v power. Is there a built in transformer in the iPad or iPad cable?
I.e. Can I just use a plug adapter to accommodate the different plug point/prongs? Grateful for any clarification, thank you!
The charger included with the iPad is multi-voltage capable (100-240vAC @ 50-60hZ). You will simply need a plug adapter.

Yes you can. The power supply units work with voltages from 100 - 240 Volts AC. You may need an adapter to fit the American style outlets.

Hello, if i buy a iPad in USA can it works in Europe?
Apple do not build region specific iPads as I understand it (they wouldn't have got themselves in the 4G mess if they did). What you will find though is an American charger in the box, apart from that, nothing is different, the region is setup purely by the choices you make in the start up process. You won't get a problem if you buy from a specific carrier as well, iPad can not be "locked" to a network.

How can I charge my iPad in England?
I'll be traveling to the U.K. and just wondering what is the best way to charge my iPad. Advice?
"I would just advise that you don't go for the 'cheap no name'. electronics are too valuable to risk"
It adapts the plug to fit. It fits or it doesn't. There is no "risk".
If you pay more than about $3 for a plug adapter, you are paying too much?
Here's a three pack for $3.35

Buying ipad from usa to use in australia
buying ipad from usa and using in australia.can you do it and what do you need for it to work.
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Yes you can do it, and if you search, upper right corner this has been discussed recently.
The iPad is compatible in both countries...charger handles 100-240 volts at 50-60 Hertz...just need the proper plug piece or converter. That should be easy enough, the plug piece slides off horizontally and the proper one for the country slides on...same piece for all iDevice chargers.
Service plans you need to check into. -
I am trying to transfer files between my ipad 3 and my macbook pro mid-2012 and they will just not connect. I connected them yesterday and it worked fine. And i can not air drop these files into my ipad it has to be done through itunes. And i can not afford to buy a new computer. How do i get these two to connect without having to buy a completely new computer?
Computer USB ports, regardless of the computer maker, have a relatively low power output and thus are not good chargers. They will charge but it takes a long time. You should be charging your iPad from wall power, or a more powerful source like an in-car charger.
Buying another computer will not change that. -
Any ideas on how to fix ipad after the new iOS 7 update? My battery will not charge, my ipad is hot to the touch, the iTunes Store won't open, and my messages on Facebook aren't showing up when I chat and pintrest won't pin to my boards.
If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go -
Re: Mifi and Charging - does this work for charging the iPad?
I found the following post on here - but it is too old for me to reply directly to it - however, this was a very good post and it worked for me and I would really like to get in touch with mikebob to see if the same thing would work for charging the iPad - his ideas really work. And does he or anyone know how to charge the iPad from batteries?
thanks a lot

Re: MiFi and Charging
Options

I finally managed to figure out the proper cabling to get the Verizon Mifi 2200 to charge using a generic USB charger. To recap the problem... The mifi device will only charge when using the supplied micro usb charger, or when connected to a computer USB port using the supplied micro USB cable. When connected to a computer, the device reverts to it's connected data mode, which turns off the wifi ssid broadcast and requires the Verizon access manager application to be launched. Most third party chargers will not work... including most 12V lighter to USB adapters, and most backup battery solutions.
Here is what is going on... Per the USB specification, Pins 1 and 4 are 5V power and ground respectively. Pins 2 and 3 are data+ and data-. In most chargers, pins two and three are tied via a pullup resistor to the 5V line. If you measure the voltage on 2 and 3 you will see around 3V, equivalent to a logic high state. This has something to do with allowing the device being charged to identify whether it should be in a fast or slow charging mode. More importantly, it is what the Apple iPod expects to see . So, anyone wanting to build generic USB chargers will probably implement this way in order to tap into the single largest device market around. Unfortunately, the mifi does not like the logic high on pins 2 and 3. I haven't yet sorted out why, but when it sees logic high on pins two and three, it refuses to go into charging mode.
The solution is to use a cable where pins 1 and 4 (5V and GND) are carried straight through. Pins 2 and 3 need to be disconnected from the charging source and shorted together at the Mifi end. If this was a miniUSB instead of a microUSB, it would be what is called a "charge only" cable. I have not found any vendors yet for a charge only microUSB cable so I went ahead and performed surgery on a standard microUSB cable. I took a standard USB cable, cut it and then connected it to a microUSB connector from an old Motorola bluetooth headset charger. Interestingly, the microUSB connector from the Moto charger already has pins 2 and 3 shorted together internally so all I had to do was connect 5V and ground and heat shrink tube the whole thing. With this cable I can charge the mifi from any generic USB port, including those on 12V lighter adapters, and rechargeable backup batteries. In addition, I can also connect the Mifi to my laptop to charge while continuing to access the Mifi via wifi.
Only word of caution... You really need to connect the Mifi to your computer using the standard data cable on occasion, say once per month. The reason is that it is only in this mode that you will receive notifications of S/W updates and/or the need to update your PRL. (preferred roaming list).Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

I like offshore sailing which means that I am without mains electricty for extended periods. I am considering the use of an iPAD 4th generation with a download of iNAVX which would appear to give an iPAD excellent chart plotting capeabilities. But how to keep it charged after the battery runs out? It seems very inefficient to have to use an Inverter to get a mains voltage, only to reduce it again to the level of a USB output!
Long time sailor but never tried charging an iPad aboard away from dock power.

Unable to charge my Ipad 4 with my Laptop (HP 7010tx) USB . I am Getting error message as "Not Charging" . Please give a solution for this ...???
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

Charging an iPad Air in the US via a plug adapter
Hello everyone,
I have a question about charging my European-bought iPad Air in the US.
I am using the original iPad Cable and a socket adapter from SKROOS to charge my iPad and I've noticed that it takes much longer to charge the device compared to Europe. To illustrate I left it completely discharge and then plugged it in in airplane mode and after 4 hours the battery is only 50% full. I do not have another cable to try charging it with, but I've tried two different sockets (at home and at work) and in both cases it takes longer than usual. Hence, I was wondering if taking longer to charge is normal given that I'm using a socket adapter.
Any advice on how to improve the battery charging? Would it be OK if I bought a US charger from Apple? From what I understand my EU-device should hadle the voltage?!
Great many thanks!
RobertAll Apple chargers work from 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz power. All you will need is a plug adapter for the country you are in.
See the various plug configurations for different countries at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4341
Using US power vs European power shouldn't make a difference.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Well my ipad mini isn't charging.. I with the original charger it didn't show the charging sign when plugged in.. And I bought a new one a 12:00 one from bath bed and beyond. Now it ain't charging again even thought it did a few days ago.. Now I don't know what to do.. I don't wanna keep buying chargers..
Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

Hi, my iPad dies in the middle of a purchase for a game add on, when I charged the iPad and reloaded the game a box is on the screen that says " cannot complete your purchase" I can't slope this box, and cat play the game while it is there, I have tried removing the game several times and reinstalling but the box still appears, I even tried installing the game on a different apple I'd, and still the box is there, do you k ow how to fix this?
Hi Bev076,
I would try these ideas first:

Charge new ipad on macbook pro (mid 2010)
I have a Macbook Pro MID 2010. When I connect my new ipad using MAC OS X Lion it charges normally, but when I connect it on my Windows 7, it doesn’t.
does any of you guys know how to make it work?Newer mac books have USB ports that provide sufficient wattage to charge an iPad. Very few windows laptops have high powered USB ports so they can only trickle charge an iPad when they can easily charge an iPhone.
It is because the iPad, as has been mentioned, needs to pull 10 watts through the charging system to do a normal charge. This is why the iPad comes with a dedicated 10 wall charger and not the standard 2.5 watt wall charger that comes with the iPhone and iPod.
If you need to buy an extra wall charger for your iPad for when you are on the road or to keep at work make sure it is truly iPad compatible. I found a really nice two port charger that provides high (10 watts) capacity on one port and low (2.5 watts) on the other. So I can charge both my iPhone and iPad at the same time without damaging my devices or the charger. -
Yesterday, as usual was going to charge my iPad, it was at 1%. Well, I took my ipad charger (original Apple official, I want to clarify that as a first step, I'm using the brand products than Apple) and plugged into an outlet ... The ipad began loading the first two minutes , then I got a notification telling me that the iPad could not charge with the charger.
I was quite surprised by the announcement. I disconnected and reconnected it .... again, I received the same notification. Then I disconnected and tried it on another outlet ... anything, yet. then I tried it on another outlet and ipad started charging. but after a while I had the same notice, not paying attention to that. I left it charging and I removed roughly 25% that of fear for something to happen. also remembered that situation (made 2-3 months ago where the iPad was not charging but after waiting a while disconnected, reconnected it and loaded normally).
so I decided to wait to re-connect the iPad to the outlet. This time, I plugged it into the outlet (fully discharged) at night and expected to find it loaded in the morning. But my surprise is that it still is off, it did not load anything.
I Bought the iPad in December 2012. Do you think that my iPad is hurt?
What can I do? Ay recommendation?
Please, HELP ME!Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. You may also want to swap out the cable, just to confirm or rule out that it's bad.
If none of those fixes work, make the appointment at your apple store and have them check it out.
